Shopping in Diagon Alley:

Priya had decided that with all the things Harry had inherited, it would be unwise to purchase any books. Between the books that she and Lorna owned, along with the trunks from Lilly, James, and Invictus, perhaps it was wise to catalogue everything. They had also secured a way to do undetected magic in the same place that Harry had left Harry to languish. Now, the focus was to outfit Harry with facilities that would allow him to step into independence.

Priya had taken out her custom expanding trunk. It had been stored in her pocket with a shrinking function. She had brought this along to carry Harry's magical purchases. Harry had also given Priya the null-box because his pockets had tiny holes in them and he did not want to risk losing the object. Then, the shopping in Diagon alley began.

Not to her surprise, Harry decided to purchase at least four Cleansweep 6 brooms. He explained that he was going to pull it apart twig by twig, because he 'wanted to know how it worked'. Invictus smiled as he remembered his fascination with things that flew as a child. Priya explained that getting robes was always the first rite of passage for a child who had never seen magic. From here, they would investigate what they needed, elsewhere.

Invictus realised that his grandson had probably been living in the mundane world, and because of this woman, he had inherited his lineage. He continued to look on, and it seemed that Diagon alley had only undergone….minimal development?

Then they both proceeded to Madam Malkin's Robes for all Occasions. As Priya entered the store, she erected a privacy ward between Harry and herself and stepped out of the area of effect to interact with Madam Malkin. She explained to Madam Malkin that her young charge was a foreign Lord and that desired to get some emergency robes because of an accident. While Madam Malkin measured Harry, Priya asked if she could use a particular image as the House Crest.

She conjured a two-dimensional picture of the Peverell House Magic she had seen at Gringotts on some parchment and asked Harry if he was satisfied. Harry looked at the image and decided that he wanted something a bit more interesting. He wondered if he could change the design. He asked Priya about the spell.

"Scribe inanimo" she replied.

Harry repeated the spell and sent some magic through his fingers and absolutely nothing happened. He tried again.

Nothing.

Was something wrong with his magic? He switched to his mage sight and tried again. "Let me see the magic as it flows in my body" he whispered.

"Scribe inanimo"

He saw the magic fizzle out at his fingertips. Invictus realised that the boy already possed mage-sight, something the Peverell family magic had taken many decades to gift to him as a fully grown man. And he seemed comfortable using it already?

Priya, looking at the panic on Harry's face questioned him as Madam Malkin had temporarily left to find something she needed.

"You alright there?" she queried.

"Well, I just discovered my magic in my body needs no wand. But apparently, normal spells need them. I can see the magic fizzling out," he said in a disappointed manner.

Priya who had invented a fair number of charms and spells in the development of her Medi-Bracelet considered what she knew. Perhaps he needed to focus the magic? This was uncharted territory. She thought about what she knew about magic and the body as a healer.

And it hit her.

"Our magic is simple magic. No wand waving, staff thumping, talismans or trinkets of any sort – see, hear and interpret as the situation demands. Use it like a sixth sense. Such is the blood of our people. Weave the magic without limitations."

Perhaps his wandless magic was related to his bloodline. Warlock Magic was a biological gift. Hogwarts-esque spells would require a wand. However, the ability to even focus magic internally possibly meant that he could eventually do wanded spells wandlessly with enough practice and training? Magical naturalisation of his skills? A rather easy way to test her theory was simple – see if a wanded spell improved the chance of his wandless casting.

"Harry" she said, "I want you to watch my wand motion and then think about images in your mind becoming visible on the paper. I suspect you require a magical focus or a wand to do conventional magic. When you get the spell correct, check back and see if there is a slight difference in trying to do it wandlessly. The difference will be very small. Your current abilities are related to your House Magic, and that isn't something that everybody else has. That is unique to you…"

Priya yelled, "Madam Malkin take your time. My charge is figuring out what he wants." Madam Malkin nodded tersely and continued sorting out other customers. Priya then passed her wand to Harry and then told him to attempt the spell.

He failed again. Invictus looked on, as he was curious to see what would happen.

Perhaps he wasn't so intelligent in magic? But he considered Priya had attended Hogwarts for seven years to learn magic. So, he slowed down, took a deep breath and focused. Finally, after thinking deeply and breathing slowly and gently guiding the magic…

"Scribe inanimo!"

The geometric pattern he had in mind – a set of abstract circles of assorted sizes and positions appeared on the parchment, along with the atom and the full arithmantic points appeared.

And then it faded away.

Harry decided that he was not moving from the spot until he got it right. And he tried again, and again and again. He began to sweat. Over the next five minutes, he attempted the spell 100 times, like a raging mad man. Finally, he could cast it reliably. Priya stood by and watched as Harry confirmed her suspicions. He was capable of learning magic with the same amplitude that he had displayed in her class and had a psychopathic work ethic. It was admirable that he could push through large amounts of stress.

"Well, you are a Peverell. That is only the kind of madness we suffer from. Magical madness. We are a bunch of looney bins…" Invictus laughed.

"His mother was just like that too. Perhaps he gets it from both sides. I will tell you more later. Harry, congratulations on your first spell!" Priya replied to the miniature portrait and the boy respectively.

Now that Harry could cast the spell, he slowly continued to add more details. He imagined an outline resembling an entire robe. He considered that most wizards loved flowing robes and decided he wanted something form-fitting and lean. He recalled components from various videogames he had seen at LAN parties, within the school library. He then began to mix and match the ideas.

Yes, that would do. He did his best to capture the general aesthetic.

The atom from earlier became the chest centrepiece. The shoulders and the chest were decorated with shapes one could associate with Halo Forerunner design language. These were long sweeping trapezoidal panels with abrupt corners. Then he thought about a circuit pattern he had seen on the cover of a book library. He gave it a facelift and placed the pattern across the entire outfit.

He animated the atom exactly as he remembered it with standard physics orbitals in addition to the seven arithmantic points of magic. He used a grey colour for the atom and blue for the rest of the objects. He finished the design by selectively fading some parts of the design.

While the design had been for a small eight-year-old body, it looked fantastic. Eventually, he considered that he would like some kind of armour, utility belt and knee-high boots that completely encased his lower feet – something that looked very futuristic. Maybe something like a Halo Spartan boot? Yes, eventually that would suffice.

The whole affair looked as if a Warhammer 40K tech-priest had slimmed down his robe, redone it with Forerunner accents, and had decided on a Mass Effect styled formal suit that would be worn under the main robe. It looked very modern when you considered the accents and the animated atom along with all the colours and geometry.

Invictus watched on silently. When he saw the symbol, he realised that his Grandson already was in the game. He had seen that symbol in Glaucon's notes but had never figured out what it had meant. Excitement took him and he whispered,

"Great Grandson, where did you see this symbol that is your chest piece?"

Harry explained that the Peverell family magic when summoned changed from a lion-goat-snake tail looking creature to an 'atom'. He also explained that all muggles knew about the atom and that it was common knowledge. What was new to Priya, was that there were teardrop shapes that represented the seven arithmantic layers of magic. "

"Have they progressed that far?" Invictus asked.

Harry replied "Muggles have progressed to the point where you moving around on my necklace would be considered no big deal. You will see for yourself. As the other you said in the letter – They did build great things. Muggles went to the moon and planted a flag and came back."

"Truly? By the spirits. Glaucon Peverell our ancestor, argued that it was possible to fly to the moon if one could travel in the void. Brooms would not work, he believed there was no air. What do Wizards think?"

Priya replied "They don't believe that spaceflight is possible. We will show you how it works. You are in for a big surprise, the muggle world is all steel, full of devices that do instantaneous global communication and factories that make millions of items per hour."

Invictus rubbed his hand with glee. Oh, how his real-life counterpart had been right. Stagnancy in the Wizarding world had become their primary cultural identity.

"I love the design great-grandson. Very stylish, I take it some of the ideas are mundane? You must show me where they come from," replied Invictus.

Priya then asked Harry to try the spell again wandlessly and report the result. After attempting the spell wandlessly, Harry informed Priya that the spell did feel better and more focused. However, if he had to express the improvement out of one hundred per cent, he would judge the feeling at an improvement of 0.1 per cent. This however implied that with ceaseless practice, he could do any magic wandlessly – something that was unheard of for most wizards today. Harry considered that while he possessed extraordinary gifts, it was obvious that he would still have to do the wand-waving like all other Wizards, accompanied by the usual study regimen.

When Madam Malkin returned, Priya handed her the design and told her that price was no issue. They wanted three black robes with the main colours in black, blue and purple. Also included would be every possible charm and acromantula silk.

"Well my dear, I have never done anything like this and I think I will enjoy making this. The pattern is a challenge. Perhaps you can come back in three hours, and I will have them ready. I have never taken this long to make a robe before. It will be 200 galleons each. The total bill will be 600 galleons"

"Excellent! Done! Pay her 700, please" and then Harry whispered, "This beautiful woman and this charming boy were never here" and he winked. Harry nodded as Priya summoned the money from his moleskin pouch. Madam Malkin was shocked. Even the Malfoys who patronised Twillfit and Tattings did not spend so much. Madam Twillfit boasted about her puny 50 galleon commission that she received every year for formal robes. Madam Malkin smiled and both wizards smiled back. Then, she finally placed those eyes. The boy's eyes were ice blue, but it had to be a glamour. The only person who had eyelashes and an eye structure like that was….Lilly Potter?

Could it be? It had to be! Good grief! She was doing robes for Harry Potter.

But he was already a Lord, wasn't he? It could not be that he was Lord Potter no, that only happened at seventeen. Unless he was heir to another line? Maybe Lilly was descended from such people? It would make sense. Lilly had been powerful and intelligent, of course, she was descended from great wizards! She considered that Harry looked happy and whoever this witch was, she had been responsible for his care. Madam Malkin had dealt with her share of coldness the Lord and Ladies generally demanded from their heirs, and it seemed the relationship between those two people was so precious and full of love.

"Good on them!" she thought. Yes, this crest was highly unusual, but it looked modern and fresh. Very stylish and eclectic. She would put her absolute best work into making these robes for Harry Potter, as she felt like the boy was destined for great things. Many years from now, she would laugh at the wizarding public and say "Bloody hell, he came to my shop first all those years ago. I knew and I stayed quiet. The joke is on the rest of you."

Harry decided to visit the legendary Fortescue's Ice Cream and other places, as the robes were being made. At Fortescue, he demolished the largest cup of Chocolate Mint ice cream that was sold. He then visited all the other stores merely out of curiosity. He was also fascinated by a vendor selling roasted nuts and purchased some. As he crunched on the nuts, he walked around the entire of Diagon Alley.

Of primary interest now, were the other book shops in the area. Harry wanted to get a copy of all the 'important' Harry Potter rubbish and read it for himself. Priya already had provided "Harry Potter and tales of the Nundu" and "Harry Potter and the Hippogriff" for his perusal. After he had gotten over the initial anger of the books, they soon became a source of comedy. He wondered what other rubbish he could find in his new purchases.

As Harry walked around, he considered one of his biggest projects that would take many years to realize. Harry was going to truly create a flying castle if the nonsensical books already suggested that he owned one. The M.E.F Lilly Potter sounded like a good name for a battleship, to terrorise the chipmunks.

Magically Enhanced Frigate Lilly Potter. A flying wing aircraft, the size of a B-2 Stealth Bomber was his goal. Naturally, this would require untold amounts of engineering but Harry felt like he was up to the challenge. Every protagonist had a personal form of transport

Harry continued to examine the bookstores.

Whizz Hard Books, Obscurus and Flourish and Botts merchandise soon filled Priya's trunk as the galleons left his coin bag. The owners, hungry to sell him more when they ascertained that cost was no objection, offered him books from their private store about Runes, Arithmancy, Wizarding Etiquette, Wizarding Bloodlines and Occlumency. These books easily forced him to part with 600 galleons collectively, but he didn't mind.

He returned to Madam Malkin and saw that she had an unusually huge smile on her face. She then asked Harry (addressing him as Young Lord) if he would mind trying on the custom robes as she had never made a robe from such a unique pattern. He went to a small room, slipped into them after taking his elephant-sized hand me down clothes off, slowly walked into the room. It seemed that Madam Malkin had closed the shop temporarily, as she didn't want the public to see her handiwork.

Boy, did Harry look amazing? Priya was now giggling, and she was happy that the boy had fussed over his robes. Madam Malkin commented:

"They are the best I have ever done. You truly have a good eye for design. Many people often want custom jobs but besides another young lady who likes to make some rather fantastic dresses, you are the first to redesign everything from the bottom up. Now to just get rid of those oversized clothes that you have. Can I interest you in anything else? I do have muggle clothes here too."

Harry replied, "I would love to purchase more but I live in the muggle world. You know how the Wizarding Secrecy Statute goes – I will have to get my other clothes in a muggle store. I had a minor accident, but my guardian could not cast magic at the time and I lost my clothes. So, I am doing everything incognito. Surely you understand."

Madam Malkin nodded – it now made sense why Harry Potter had unusual clothes on. Harry had considered that Madam Malkin would be suspicious about Dudley's old clothes, so this story would divert her attention elsewhere. They both left after the custom robes had been packaged and found themselves in the Leaky Cauldron.

This was where the barman Tom would also ascertain that Harry Potter was alive and well. He considered wanting to introduce himself, but he decided to let it be – he would have to come into the Wizarding world anyway. Tom decided just to fuss over Harry and ensured that he got whatever he wanted. Surprisingly, he was not too picky and enjoyed the food very much.

What gave Harry away was that James Potter during the war never was a dainty eater. He always ate the Ploughman's, followed by the banger sandwich and wedge fries and washed down the entire affair with Apple Juice. Consistently he would ask for an extra order of English Bacon. James Potter would eat the whole thing heartily, thank Tom for a great meal and comment that he was going to work the meal out on some Death Munchers.

Harry had ordered the same thing as his father but had swapped the Apple Juice for Orange Juice. When he was finished, in the same mannerisms as his father he told Tom "I am going to need to work that out – I have a lot of studies to do tonight"

Tom thought to himself "Bless him, he must have his mother's brain."

Tom noticed that the witch that accompanied him seemed to genuinely care for him and they were both two peas in one pod. After he considered what happened to the boy, he deserved some peace. Tom, as far as he was concerned was just serving a regular customer as of right now.

Invictus observed the relationship between the guardian and his grandson. His old eyes could see that his distant descendant had gone through a lot of pain alone and this woman (apparently a teacher in the mundane world from the conversation he overheard) had adopted him. She was helping him on the way to greatness. It seemed that the witch possessed a healing touch, and he was reminded of his dearest Lucretia.

Invictus whispered, "And so the wheels of fate spin."

He was not fooled by the gentleness of the woman. Angering this woman was to confront dragon. It was just sleeping until awakened.

Lady She-who-creates nodded in approval. Yes, things were coming along rather nicely. It seemed most of the life-altering moments were almost through for now – but no guarantee that the universe would not throw a curveball eventually.
