Chapter 4: Hide and Seek

The next day the six remaining groups went to the next location for the second game, which happened to be the entrance of the university.

"All right people, now for the second game. We're gonna play a good old fashioned game of hide and seek." Chris told them.

"Sounds easy enough." said Alejandro.

"Here's how it'll go. You'll all spread out through campus and find hiding spots. But you'll also have to make it back to the safe zone, which is right here."

Chef referred to a red circular carpet that was in front of the front door.

"You'll get a 15 minute head start; and Chef Hatchet will be our seeker. If he finds you, you're out. If an entire team makes it back to the safe zone, they win. The team with the least amount of members left loses."

"I think we can win this again, girls." Jasmine told her sisters.

"Everyone ready?"

Everyone said yes.

"Then ready...set...hide!"

And with that, all the contestants hurried away.

"This is gonna be fun." snickered Chris.

"You got that right." Chris agreed.

Alpha Pi Gamma found some finding spots in the library.

"All right, everyone find good spots." ordered Heather.

"We'll wait about five minutes, and then one by one we'll try and get back to the safe zone." said Scarlett.

"Let's do this." declared Jo.

And they all split up. Heather hid behind a bookshelf, Eva in a supply closet, Courtney behind a trash can, Jo in a dark corner, Amy behind the librarian's desk, Sugar actually jumped in another trash can, and Scarlett hid behind a book.

Epsilon Nu Kappa went to the cafeteria to find their hiding spots. Max hid under a table, Topher behind the counter, Lightning ducked into a closet, Scott hid behind the door, Alejandro took refuge in the restroom, Justin hid behind a pillar, and Duncan found a spot in a booth.

"Everyone stay where you are. In a while one of us will sneak out and try and get back to the front of the school." instructed Alejandro.

The Phi Nu Sigma sisters decided to hide in the student lounge. Gwen hid behind the couch, Bridgette under the pool table, Leshawna in a closet, Zoey behind the mini refrigerator. Jasmine behind the door, and Sky behind the TV.

The sisters of Chi Psi Nu picked outside to hide. Sierra hid in a tree, Staci behind a tree, Katie took cover under a bench. Sadie hid behind a vending machine, Ella behind a pole, and Izzy hid in a leaf pile.

The Theta Iota Chi brothers chose one of the classrooms to hide in. DJ, Geoff, and Tyler hid under some tables. Trent, Noah, and Cody behind professor's desks. Owen, Mike, and Brick hid in different closets.

And B, Cameron, and Sam ducked into the computer lab, and went under tables. And the members of Phi Sigma Eta hid in their sorority house. Beth hid behind the couch, Lindsay under her bed's blanket, Dakota took refuge under her bed.

Anna Maria hid in the bathroom, Dawn in a closet, and Samey hid behind a door.

After 15 minutes, Chef Hatchet set out.

"Ready or not...here I come."

First he checked outside. He stealthily walked around, looking around for any students. Sierra peeked out from the tree, and saw Chef. She stayed very still, and hoped he wouldn't see her. He walked pass, and she waited until he was out of sight.

"He's gone." she whispered.

"Staci you try and get back to the safe zone first."

"You got it. This is just like my great grandfather who was in WW2."

"Just hurry."

And with that, Staci scurried off, and Sierra went from hiding in the tree to behind it. Then Chef went into the library, and the girls froze in their places. He was heading to the bookshelf where Heather was hiding.

Just then he was about to turn the corner, he heard the sound of books falling. He quickly turned around to investigate, and Heather scurried away.

"I know you're in here." Chef informed.

Scarlett peeked up from her book. While Chef's back was turned, she darted from her spot at the table, and to the bookshelf. Sugar peeked out of the trash can. But at completely the wrong time, and Chef caught her.

"Well well well, look what I found in the trash." he sneered.

"Aw crud." Sugar complained.

She climbed out of the trash can, and Chef escorted her out of the library.

"No!" whispered Heather.

After taking Sugar to the area where the ones who'd been caught went, he noticed Staci in the safe zone.

"So that's one safe."

And he went back to seeking. As the game went on, Scarlett, Duncan, Sky, Samey, DJ, and Izzy got to the safe zone. However Chef managed to find Gwen, Max, Lindsay, and Sam.

"Oh, I hope the other members of the fraternity don't get caught." Sam hoped.

"I wouldn't worry, Sam." comforted Beth.

"Your fraternity has a lot of members, you'll probably win."

"My team better take victory." Max piped up.

The game went on, some students made it to the safe zone, others got captured by Chef. The teams with the most members in the safe zone were Theta Iota Chi, Alpha Phi Gamma, Epsilon Nu Kappa, and Phi Nu Sigma.

Most of the members of Chi Psi Nu had been caught.

"Most contestants have either been found or caught, so it can still be anyone's game." Chris announced.

More people made it to the safe zone, and a couple got captured by Chef. Finally there was only one last person left, and that was Cameron.

"Come on, Cameron." said DJ.

"Do you think he can make it?" asked Trent.

"Sure he can." replied Mike.

Just then, Cameron poked his head out from a trash can. He waved at his fraternity brothers, who smiled, but their smiles faded when they saw Chef coming. Cameron quickly ducked back into the trash, and waited for him to pass.

Once he was out of sight, Cameron jumped out and hurried to the safe zone.

"HEY!" yelled Chef.

And he ran after him.

"Come on, Cam!" encouraged Mike.

Cameron ran fast and faster, and made it to the safe zone!

"And the winners are Theta Iota Chi!" Chris announced.

The guys cheered.

"And for having the most members captured, Chi Psi Nu ladies, I'm afraid you're out."

The girls groaned in sadness.
