Rainbows are visions
But only illusions
And rainbows have nothing to hide
Once again, Sorashi had figured out a way to escape from the infinity compound.
It was a bit trickier this time though. Ever since Muzan had found her passed out and unconscious with Michikatsu, he made sure to make his fortress unrecognizable and hard to navigate. Now her new friend was a demon going by the name of Kokushibo and was around every corner. Muzan had assigned him to not only train her since he knew a breathing technique, but to make sure no harm befell upon her.
If it wasn't for the fact that I love him, I wouldn't be so angry. She thought, adjusting her veil to cover her face. Now in her human disguise, she found an opening between the walls where she could slip in and out without being noticed. This time she made sure to bring some blood tablets that Tamo-chan created for her to give her nutrients.
She hadn't seen the female demon since she was brought home. When asking Muzan about her whereabouts, he was huff and disregard the location of her friend. It broke her heart to know that she wasn't around like she usually was. Perhaps while she was out, she would find out what happened to her. In the meantime, there was a festival going on in a nearby town she wanted to go see.
Now she had on a new kimono that was deep purple and decorated with various star patterns. Stardust swirled on the sleeves and hem line, giving her a much needed regal touch. Her green hair was now in a bob cut, a single purple lotus in her hair. Since she wore a black lace veil on her face, she made sure to make her eyes stand out as she had placed purple eye-shadow on them. Overall, she held an air of regal-like quality over her outfit.
Strolling through the busied streets, she noticed people were celebrating some sort of god figure that lived in the town. How strange that customs and traditions had changed over time. There was always some new religion or deity that people would create and worship. Curiosity got the best of her as she asked someone what the fuss was all about.
"Haven't you heard? The young master is back in town and has brought some new followers with him." The old man told her, his face red with drunkenness. "He is the leader of our religion and has many women to chose from. He has never taken a wife nor does he plan on doing so. Those who serve him well get to pass on to the afterlife for eternal happiness."
Sorashi hummed at the thought of someone granting people eternal happiness. Being immortal herself entailed that she would be happy with Mu-chan and Koko-chan for the rest of her living life. If she were to step out and bask in the sun, she would surely meet an untimely death. When they found the blue spider lily, she would once again be able to see the world in the daytime and maybe see the sun rise once more.
The festive people stopped what they were doing and suddenly bowed to the ground. Sorashi saw a carriage riding down the streets, the curtains hiding someone behind them. Moving quickly, she got out of the way to catch a glimpse of the lord that this town was so fond of.
Apparently, he caught a glimpse of her as well, a smirk appearing on his face. Before Sorashi had even noticed, two guards had flanked her on both sides. The young lord pointed at her with an amused glint in his eyes.
"You are a peculiar one to not bask in my glory." He said with a mocking tone. "I want to get to know you better. Please come with me to my palace."
Doma saw this beautiful woman not bowing and was intrigued.
She must have came from out of town and was visiting for the festival. The way she walked through the crowd made her stand out and cast some sort of spell over him. He didn't feel things like love and passion, but something about her made his nonexistent heart start pulsing.
Not throbbing, but pulsing.
Now that she was in his carriage did he realize that she also gave off some demonic energy as well. Ever since that faithful day with meeting that nice Muzan fellow, he too was a demon as well. Sensing her energy greatly trumped his own, he wondered if this was the famed "Queen of the Night" that he was informed about. Perhaps she was, but there was no way to figure that out by just staring at her.
"So...you must be the famed lord or god that this town worships?" The woman asked, a curious look on her face. "I have to say, you managed to put this place under some spell. I've never seen so many people feeling admiration over a single person before."
He waved his fan in front of his now blushing face. "Oh my, I've never had a pretty lady speak so eloquently in front of me before. You are well spoken for someone who has no idea who I am." Placing the fan underneath her chin, he smiled sweetly at her. "What is the name of the maiden whom has captured my attention?"
She winked, possibly playing around with him too. "I'm called by many names, your lordship. Though I would prefer if you called me by my title; Hoshihime."
"Oh so you are a princess then?" Doma was now convinced that she was just like him in regards to being praised and loved. "How interesting! You must be used to being adored by the public and showered in love. Maybe you can teach me what it feels like to be in love."
She shifted against the walls of the carriage, her eyes darting about. Doma was trying to read her expression, relishing in the fact that he made her uncomfortable. If she was the one that Muzan spoke about, then he would try to convince her to stay with him instead. If she was just some other demon, then he would still keep her and possibly toss her out if she bored him.
Bringing her hands up to her veil, she delicately took it off to reveal plush, soft lips that he was tempted to touch. Fangs poked out of her mouth, marks of stars dotted her face. His grey eyes now turned rainbow at the sight of the glowing stars on her shoulders. He flinched, feeling a new sensation washing over him as the carriage stopped in front of his palace.
"Well my dear..." He said as he held a hand out for her to take. "Shall we enter my palace together? It would be nice for a princess like you to be with a god like myself. In fact, your protection is guaranteed to be secured if you stayed here."
She hesitated for a second before slowly taking his hand. Doma pulled her forward and took a deep breath to smell her delectable scent. She already stood out with her darker skin tone and alluring green hair. Now her scent smelled of fresh flowers and springtime. This made him long for what she had in store for him now.
He had the princess of the stars right where he wanted her.
Kokushibo wasn't having a great day.
When he was turned into a demon, he assumed that Muzan would just allow him to train and watch over his precious Sorashi. Given that he couldn't even enter her room without the demon king knowing made him even more frustrated. What did his beloved see in this monster in the first place?
Learning that Sorashi was a demon made more sense to him now that he was one too. She was never comfortable in his brother's grasp and was being burned when making contact. He assumed this was because he practiced sun breathing, but then realized that he must've exemplified the sun itself. Poor Sorashi felt more pain to touch him than joy. This made it easier for him to swoop in and save her body was disintegration and made his brother out to be the bad guy.
Now he wandered about the infinity palace with a sour look on his face. Since being made rank one of the kizuki, he felt an enormous amount of power and responsibility that came with it. This was what he always wanted, power that he could control and a sense of purpose to fulfill. If only Muzan weren't in the equation so that he could make Sorashi his wife and have children with her. Before even turning was he going to steal her away from his brother. Only the star princess would save his life and ask him to be spared as well.
The sounds of a biwa strumming interrupted his lustful thoughts, making the halls change once more. He noticed how this new demon lady, Nakime was her name, could change the hallways and doors with a strum of her instrument. What fascinated him more was that this was used to keep Sorashi from running off again and staying trapped within these walls.
He found himself at the door of her room once more. All six of his eyes lit up at the prospect of surprising her and getting to listen to more of her stories. When Muzan wasn't around, he would try to figure out how to reach her room and hear her voice. Sometimes he would stand outside the door and sigh to her singing. Sometimes she would hum while writing down her story ideas on paper. If he had the courage to open the door, she would smile and allow him to sit down on her bed and play with his hair. These moments were treasured forever in his mind.
Today he was going to go inside and convince her to sing once more. However, when he opened the door, there was a distinct lack of Sorashi within the room. Panicking, he searched the room to find one of her kimonos gone and no trace of her ever being there. Since Muzan was out with Tamayo on a mission, there was no way he could've sensed her leaving. This meant he had plenty of time to track her down and get her back to safety.
He unraveled the bandages on her upper arm to reveal a star shaped mark. It appeared there when she pardoned him that day, claiming him to be one of her star protectors. The mark would glow and pulse to track her down and bring him closer to her. He pressed on it hard as it started to softly glow.
"Inform Nakime that I will be going out on a hunt." He told one of the lessor demon servants.
Sorashi could run, but he would always bring her back.
Doma was having fun with his newest capture.
Hoshihime, affectionately nicknamed Hoshi-chan to him, was becoming his favorite woman in his harem. Oftentimes he would already devour certain females that took his fancy. However, Hoshi-chan was quite the catch and had many talents to back it up. She was a storyteller for one, captivating audiences with her tales about her kingdom of peace and prosperity. Many of his females found that she made her own clothes too, gifting them to all who asked. A select few have even heard her singing, comparing her voice to angels. When he walked around his palace, he saw that a lot of the females he deemed "useless"were now performing much better due to her leadership. This made him want to know her even more and tried to pry more of her life story out.
He would drag her into his sacred room and have her place his head on her lap. She would run her nails through his hair in a soothing motion, making him feel lazy. Then she would speak, oh she would tell him the most amazing stories that made him fall asleep or ask for more.
Like right now, they were in the sacred room once again. The smell of lavender incense filled the air as Sorashi hummed a soft melody while combing through his hair. His eyes watched her closed ones, a rainbow dancing in each iris. He sloppily sprawled out on her legs, wanting more of her affection and warmth on his cold body.
"Ne...Doma-dono, do you want to hear about the rainbow prince?" Sorashi asked him, feeling another story forming inside her head.
"Oh Hoshi-chan, you tell the most fascinating stories! Is this prince the one who catches your eye?" He asked her coyly, sighing happily as she rubbed a hand on his cheek.
"Of course not, he is one of the star protectors of the princess!" She teased, poking his nose. "Do you want to hear the story or not?"
"Anything you have to tell me I want to hear!" Doma exclaimed, snuggling deeper into her lap. "You make my life more fun after all."
Making sure he was comfortable, Sorashi lit one of the various candles in the room to set the mood.
"The princess of the stars wasn't always so regal and demure. In fact, at one point, she was quite reckless and immature. Her mother and father were concerned that she would grow up to be a bratty ruler. To quell this attitude, the queen suggested that a playmate would be found to keep her in check. However, no female friend could be found for some viewed the princess in a negative light. Only the princess' guard, a monstrous boy with a sword, could stand to be around her. They figured that they should find another lad that was of nobility in order to help the princess be more royal.
One day, as the princess was having tea in the gardens, a young boy with rainbows in his eyes came forward to become her playmate. Her guard made sure that the boy could not get any closer than three feet, but the princess was happy to find a new friend. The boy was as mischievous as they come, but taught the young lady about how to be a royal. The princess listened to what he had to say, but she really loved his rainbow eyes.
As they got older, she asked him to become her confidant, her star protector. Having known the princess for years, he realized his feelings for her were genuine. Accepting the role she had given him, he became her second star, to the ire of her first one."
"The prince sounds just like me!" Doma was happy that he got to make a cameo in one of her stories. "Could this mean that he finally discovered his true feelings for the princess?"
Sorashi caressed his face, making him hum in delight. "Well it was a gradual change. Over time did these feelings of love and caring melt his frozen heart. In fact, some say that the rainbow prince was the coldest, meanest prince to roam the world. It was only after meeting the star princess did he start changing his mind."
He grasped her hand, making her gasp. "Will that happen for me Hoshi-chan? Will you slowly melt my frozen heart and make me your prince?" He kissed her hand gently, taking in the sweetness as he did.
"I'm not sure, perhaps only time will tell." Sorashi gave him a small smile.
Now he was making sure that nothing would bother his princess, giving her her own room and dormitory in his palace. While some girls found his attraction towards her sickening, he made sure to devour those who spoke against her. He wondered that if she was a demon, why she would never eat the humans with him. One time, he saw her take these small pills and then go into a deep sleep for many days. When she did this, he moved her into his room and allowed no other to enter that entire week. And when she woke up the following week, he adorned her with ravishing clothes, gave her many jewels and accessories, and doted her with trinkets and perfume. Anything to keep her from leaving his side and going back to her kingdom.
To his ire, one day when he forced her to come with him to the red light district, she would do something that took her attention away from him.
Walking through the red light district made Sorashi a bit uncomfortable.
Not only was her skin color so exotic that it caught the eye of many people, but this place hosted many geisha who sold their bodies for money. She didn't judge these women since they were just making money, but she did pitied them for being abused by their customers. Traveling with Doma actually made her feel a bit safer, but some of the men were giving her various looks that made her shudder. Doma saw these men and promptly warned them to back off with a threatening smile.
"Doma-dono, why are we here in the first place?" She said, brushing against the silver haired demon. "I'm not very comfortable with this place."
"Hoshi-hime, you are much better than any of these girls combined in my book!" Doma exclaimed happily, bopping her head with his fan. "I'm just looking around to find some fresh meat and new girls for my harem. They are my playthings, but you are my main woman."
Sorashi glared at some lecherous pervert who was catcalling her. "Better be glad that I can't harm them because I want to be a better person." She stopped, hearing some sniffling and crying down one of the alleys they passed. "Wait...I hear someone down this alley."
Leaving a pouting Doma, Sorasahi ran down the alleyway and found herself swallowing the bile that threatened to come up. Two small children were seen huddling in blood and filth as the elder brother covered his bleeding younger sister. He glared at her as he tried to divert the attention towards his sister.
Sorashi felt herself change once more seeing these poor children looking sad and broken. Her green hair turned purple and flowing once more as she entered her true demon form. Her eyes glowed purple, her nails longer, and more stars decorated her body. She floated towards the two with a sympathetic smile.
"You poor dears...you must've suffered so much." She cooed, carefully picking up the two in her arms. The boy struggled and tried to fight back, but he slowed when she caressed his head. The girl was crying softer now, slowly letting herself melt into her arms.
"Why..." The boy croaked, giving her a sad look. "Why are you giving us this love? Our own mother went mad, my sister had to sell her body, and you just think that you can swoop in and save us?"
The Queen of the Night let the boy wail in her arms before holding him close to her body. "I am the mother to the motherless, and a good queen takes care of all children. You and your sister won't be in pain or harmed any longer." She stared down at the younger sister, who was giving her a hopeful look. "My, aren't you a beautiful child? I wish that I can adopt you both as my own children."
There was silence for awhile before the young girl broke it. "Can you really grant that wish? Will you make us your children?"
The Queen turned to the boy. "Only if your brother wants it. I can only grant this wish if you allow me to. He has been your protector, so let me be his and yours."
The boy felt tears going down his face before pressing his face against her robes. "Please...I wish for my sister and I to be loved."
Wrapping them in the safety of her robes, the Queen gave a gentle smile. "Your wish will be granted. I shall change you into demons like me and you will become my children. If anyone wishes to harm you, I will come and protect you. From now on, you will be known as Gyutaro and Daki, children of the queen."
As the children changed into demons, Doma finally located where his princess was. To his surprise, he saw the queen instead with two demon children in her arms. Her true form made his heart beat against his chest, fully making him realize who he had encountered.
So this is who you truly are. My princess, no my queen, you truly are so amazing.
And so I find another star.
How many more will I come by?
These children will be my start.
For a brighter generation.
Doma has arrived and has become quite smitten with our main lady.
Plus, she adopts Gyutaro and Daki as her own children.
Will Kokushibo locate his beloved?
And what will happened when Muzan returns?
