Ambition...
This was her purpose and this was who she was.
Hotaru Kibutsuji knew that as the elder of her future siblings, she would be their leader and lead them to conquer the sun. Bashira made her remember every lesson she taught that Hotaru was born to a powerful demon king and queen. Since she was supposed to be a surprise when her mother brought the unity, she was hidden away deep in a secret part of the garden. Bashira-san hated men and anything having to do with men, so some of her distaste for the gender rubbed off on her. Being a young and impressionable child, she imagined her father was someone of power and was meant to be feared. She promised that she would do everything within her power to fulfill her mother's dream.
Her birth was sudden, or so she was told.
"Ouch!"
Sorashi sucked her finger as blood dripped from it. Tending her garden was a pastime she enjoyed when she needed a break from her crazy life. Kokushibo would usually join her, but he had a mission to do, but promised to meet up with her later. Her other adopted children were doing their own missions as well, so she was spending the day with her lady-in-waiting Bashira. Said woman was playing her shakuhachi, a bamboo flute, as the garden spirits rested around her.
Finding Bashira helped to balance out the missing component in her life; female friends. Tamayo was her first, but she lost communications with her after she escaped. Nakime was a silent friend, but she served Mu-chan first and foremost. Bashira was perfect as she was opposed to men and generally wanted to serve her.
Bashira was formerly a maiko studying her way to become a geisha. The two met in the red light district when Sorashi was visiting Daki and Gyutaro. A festival was being held to celebrate the new moon. All the beautiful women of the district celebrated by playing music, serving food, and dressing in extravagant robes. Men, of course, flooded the night streets as Sorashi had to turn down a whole bunch of them. She then heard the cries of a woman being assaulted in back alleys.
Bashira, in her human form, had been abandoned by every man she trusted in her life. Her father left her when she was a child to have her be the breadwinner for herself. She was supposed to live with her uncle, but they didn't want her. When she was old enough to get a job, she was engaged, but was cheated on. Thus, as she worked to become a geisha, she would refuse to serve men and focused on performance instead. The only thing she had was her shakuhachi, which she would enchant the masses with the hypnotic melodies.
On that night, she was leaving before the festivities started and she came upon a drunken samurai. Said samurai saw her and wanted to have his way with her. Bashira refused and told him to leave. Angered, he slammed her against the wall and started ripping her clothes. She screamed, struggling in vain to push him off, but then his head was cut right off.
Sorashi had saved her life and Bashira declared her loyalty towards her.
Back to the garden, Sorashi had cut herself pruning her roses. Her blood spilled upon some of her cosmos, ones that had been stained red for some reason. Bashira stood up and came over to check her finger.
"You know you don't have to treat me like a child." Sorashi said, smiling at her female companion.
"I know, but I worry about you. Your husband is always out, his men constantly try to take you away, and you never stay in one place!" Bashira scolded, staring in her eyes. "You make me worry."
Sorashi patted her head, making the girl squeak. "I'm not going anywhere anytime soon."
Before Bashira could reply, a soft cooing noise broke through the flowers. They paused, turning around to see a small figure among the flowers. Pushing apart the flowers revealed a small, chubby, beautiful baby girl who was covered in cosmos. Her hair was midnight black, alabaster skin, and her eyes red like rubies. On her forehead was a strange mark, resembling an ancient scythe and glowing purple. Two star marks were on her shoulder blades. The baby stared up at the women before making grabbing hands towards Sorashi.
Bashira covered her mouth in shock. "How did-? Where did?"
Sorashi squealed in happiness as she picked the baby up and cuddled her. "She looks just like Mu-chan!"
Bashira blinked as she watched her lady placing kisses on the small babe. "My lady, did you already sleep with the progenitor?"
Sorashi shook her head, holding the baby gently. "I did not, but she has appearances that resemble him." Gasping, she gazed at the red cosmos, three of them still flourishing while one was pure white again. "He must've left his blood on these flowers. I pricked my finger and dripped blood on one of the flowers! You don't think...?"
Bashira bowed. "Congratulations my lady, you have a daughter now. Somehow..."
Sorashi felt tears pricking in her eyes as she nuzzled her now dubbed child. All her life she adopted demon children and raised them and now she had a child of her own. Worries started plaguing her when she realized that her daughter would be hunted down and slain before she got her time to live. Biting her lip, she turned to Bashira with pleading eyes.
"Bashira, I have a small request for you that requires you to leave my side for awhile."
Hotaru found herself staring down at the sleeping form of her mother, still in a state of self-healing. They left her body untouched, but covered by the veil of flowers that shielded her away. Her face was peaceful, the star marks glowing on her body.
Hotaru recalled when she first met her father without the demon slayers present. Almost immediately she was asked why she was hidden away and not informed by him. The child replied that her mother did not want her to perish early and asked Bashira to raise her in a safehouse in the woods. This house was deep within the woods where no one could go, but it had everything they needed.
The Upper Moons and Lower Moons were shocked by how similar the girl was to Muzan and felt the power emanating from her. Hotaru's sharp eyes scanned the group before landing on Daki and Gyutaro. To their surprise, she hugged them and happily told them that her mother had talked about them a lot. Hotaru referred to them as her older siblings along with Rui, Susamaru, and Yahaba. When the top three tried to gain her attention, she hissed at them and threatened to claw them with her poison claws.
Hotaru leaned against her mother's resting place. "Hello okaasan, I am here again to tell you how the week went." She cracked a small smile. "Otousan and I await for you to wake up so that you can be with us again. He waits for you, but he's starting to crack. However, I'm making sure that he doesn't go too mad.
Daki and Gyutaro often visit here when they have the chance. I saw Daki place some fresh flowers in your garden, but had Gyutaro do all the dirty work. I teased her about being lazy and she almost slashed at me. Gyutaro is a bit nicer though, he gives me good headpats.
Rui is my favorite sibling though. He now lives in a forest not fat from my old home. I love visiting him because he taught me how to do these neat string tricks. I may have to take some spider traits for that, but Rui has been coaxing me. I think he's trying to make a replacement mother, but she's not like you at all.
Susamaru tries to get me to play with her, but Yahaba keeps stopping her. I don't like playing ball with her, but it makes her happy. Yahaba reads with me, and reads to me too. Both of them are great babysitters.
Kokushibo watches you at night. I know this because I sleep in your big maple tree some nights. I think besides otousan, he misses you the most. He often cries over your body and hugs you. I want to stop him, but I decide against it. He could be a valuable asset to me in the future.
Akaza has been nicer to me as of recently. I believe he is my favorite of the Upper Moons. I like holding onto his back and hugging him from behind. He gets all red, it's very funny.
And then there's Doma..."
"Ooh~! Why there you are, little one."
Hotaru grimaced as the demon she was talking about emerged from the veil. The whispers usually warned her when he was in the garden, but they were hibernating due to the winter. All the flowers were sleeping.
"I was just giving okaasan a recap of the week. Why are you here?" Hotaru snapped, glaring at him.
Doma chuckled, patting her head with a fan. "I just want to do something, nothing harmful I assure." His eyes shifted towards the sleeping beauty and saunters over. "You know, I figured out how you were conceived."
Hotaru drew a breath as Doma brought out a pink camellia. "It was quite easy since your little creatures gossip about everything. I thought I would see if the rumors are true."
"Don't do this! She's not even awake!" Hotaru stood in front of her mother, her claws ready. "I will make sure of that."
As she said this, one of the star marks on her mother's body glowed brighter than before. Both Doma and Hotaru looked on in surprise as the flower in Doma's hand started glowing. A flash of pink light erupted from the flower, causing the two to fly backwards.
The smoke clears as cries were heard from the shrine. Hotaru's mouth dropped while Doma's lit up with glee.
"I knew it was true! Kokushibo and Akaza are going to be so jealous." He ran over and grabbed the now newly formed baby in his arms. "Oh she looks just like her mother."
The baby had caramel skin, but had splotches of white on various parts of the body. The eyes were rainbow like the father, sparkling as she cooed happily. Her hair was a silver tuft, poking out from the top. Her lips were silky, her nubby nails sharp, and her star marks were on her cheeks. To Hotaru's surprise, the child also had a strange mark appearing on her head. From what she heard about from Banshira, a strange mark appeared on her forehead when she was born. This mark was a circle with a cross coming down, the symbol of femininity.
Hotaru gritted her teeth, clenching her fists as she stared down at her own sister. "How dare you use my okaasan as a breeding whore! When she wakes up, I will make sure she hears about what you did!"
Doma gave a ungenuine smile towards Hotaru. "If you weren't my leader's child, I would've killed you. In fact, I want you to never mention this towards your father."
Hotaru gave him an incredulous look. "He'll notice that her skin color looks like hers! Better be glad that she has a special mark on her forehead like me."
Doma was about to snark back, but the child started grabbing his own hair and yanking hard. The baby squealed happily, batting her little eyelashes that made him laugh and rub against her cheeks.
"Ooh you are going to be daddy's little girl!" He tickled her stomach, making her giggle more. "I'm going to call you Fuyuka, my little winter beauty. When your mother wakes up, I'll make sure she stays with us!"
Hotaru watched as Doma and her newly dubbed sister Fuyuka left the garden. She turned to her comatose mother and shook her head.
"Nine siblings, nine planetary bodies. Bashira said that I would lead your great army to bring your dream into reality. As your Saturn, I will do my best to bring down anyone who says otherwise." Hotaru pushed up her bangs to reveal her not glowing birth mark. "I guess by Fuyuka's mark that makes her Venus. Despite what Doma says, I will reluctantly accept her as my sister."
A cruel smile erupted on her face. "I will, however, tell otousan about Doma's deed. He will be punished for making you birth another child without consent."
"The leader has a child!"
"Look at her skin color! It is very different."
"Her eyes are very beautiful. The mother must've been exceptional too."
The Paradise Faith Cult were ecstatic at the baby who now sat on their leader's lap. Doma was punished severely for messing with Muzan's wife. If it wasn't for the fact that he was a powerful demon, he would've been killed, that and the fact that the baby was his wife's. Fuyuka was an innocent baby in the midst of all this crazy nonsense. The cult worshipped her as they did him.
Since the only woman he loved was still in a coma, he made sure that the women in his cult took care of his child alongside him. Fuyuka had the special ability like her mother to change into a human disguise. This made it easier for her to waddle around and be the cutest little demon.
Word spread around fast about her birth. Daki saw the child and was instantly smitten by her cuteness. Gyutaro agreed that Fuyuka was much more tolerable than Hotaru and she lived close to the red light district. Daki spoiled the baby with many brightly colored kimonos, hair accessories, and expensive perfumes. Gyutaro made sure no boy came close to her, finding it funny when she would kiss his cheeks.
Doma was no better as he was spoiling his little girl to pieces. There was nothing that he wouldn't give her and for once he showed genuine emotions around her. He pampered her, gave her tons of affection, and gave his own abridged version of his relationship with Sorashi. Fuyuka grew up being admired, always by her father's side and longing for her mother's affections. To make sure she was never unhappy, Doma would allow her to spend time with his cultist's children. The only problem was that young boys were constantly asking her out or vying for her love. Fuyuka relished the attention, and thanks to her big sister, knew how to play with the hearts of men.
Her poor father couldn't handle it though. Several bodies were always seen after Fuyuka strolled through town. If he could, Doma would never let her leave his side like how Sorashi would constantly leave.
Having his own little star was great.
Kokushibo and Akaza were even jealous.
This would not bode well in the future.
A few years would pass before Fuyuka would get to see her true older sister.
"Hi everyone! Guess who decided to tag along with her papa today?" Doma walked into the meeting with all the Upper Moons with a now four year old Fuyuka under his arm. "My precious hime is getting so big and beautiful. She makes my heart soar!"
"Papa! I love you!" Fuyuka said, making a cute face. "I wanna see everybody, and love them too."
Akaza rolled his eyes. "She's just as attention seeking as her dad."
"Fuyu-chan! You're wearing the accessory I picked out for you!" Daki gushed, brushing some hair out of the little girl's eyes. "My, if you keep growing up so pretty, I might have to share a show with you."
"What brings you here today?" Gyutaro asked, rubbing her silver hair.
Fuyuka made a cute pout. "I want to see my sister and mother. Papa tells me that my mother is the prettiest woman in the world and that I am just as pretty as she is!" She stuck out her tongue. "Although, I don't see her here…"
Kokushibo turned to the smiling Doma. "Just what did you tell your daughter about Sorashi?"
Doma placed his fan on his face. "I just told her that her mother was here and sleeping due to some horrible humans! I also told her about sweet little Hotaru."
A hush fell over the room as Muzan strolled inside with Hotaru by his side. The young girl was now seven and was looking more like her father every day. She wore a lavish purple kimono decorated with white lilies, a purple flower hairpin, and had her hair brushed and put into a tight bun by Bashira. The said servant of the queen was still keeping watch in the gardens.
Hotaru turned her signature cold gaze towards the blushing Fuyuka. "Well if it isn't my little sister. You are looking older and well."
Fuyuka nodded, smiling at her. "I finally get to meet you! I've waited for this day for so long!"
"By all means, let me show you to our mother. Despite how I feel about your father, one should never be away from ones mother."
Saturn is the leader, the weight of the future lies on her shoulders.
Venus is a charmer, her charisma and beauty knows how to be beastly.
Who knows what the others will be like?
And how does Tanjiro and the others fit into the story?
You'll have to wait and see.
Hey guys! I apologize for taking so long with this new chapter. This filler is the catalyst needed to explain some minor details. You have all been patiently waiting and Sorashi will return soon.
