Pokémon are creatures of all shapes and sizes who live in the wild or alongside their human partners (called "Trainers"). During their adventures, Pokémon grow and become more experienced and even, on occasion, evolve into stronger Pokémon. Hundreds of known Pokémon inhabit the Pokémon universe, with untold numbers waiting to be discovered!
A young man named Ash Ketchum has a goal, is to be the world's greatest trainer, and worlds greatest Pokémon Master. To get to his goal he decided to take some lessons from Professor Samuel Oak, he is a famous Pokémon Professor in the Kanto Region, also world wide. This will help Ash a lot for his Pokémon journey, and he is glad to get the lessons he needed. Ash wonders what lies for him in the world of Pokémon?
(Also I am adding steel typing and dark typing early in the story and no Pokémon beyond Kanto until the next book. Also i'll add some anime cities, but don't expect all the anime cities in the story, yes he will catch the canon Pokémon but he will catch some new ones. This is gonna be a better version of Ash. Yes, there's gonna be some game content in the story, not just all anime. Also you will see Pokémon moves that weren't in Gen 1 so expect that to be in the story as well, it's gonna be like Lets Go Pikachu and Eevee but no Fairy typing and Ash got a proper starter and Pikachu so everyone can be happy.)

Chapter 1
Ash Ketchum is getting ready for his Pokémon journey, when Kanto natives become the age of 11 they get their starter Pokémon, and also their Pokémon license. He took lessons from Professor Oak about how to take care of Pokémon when they are injured from battle, type match-ups, Pokémon Evolution, and Pokémon literature.
He decides to turn on the channel that Professor Oak is tuning on. Oak is on TV talking about the starter Pokémon of Kanto, Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle. He already knew what starter he wanted, he always wanted a Squirtle because he thinks Blastoise looks very awesome. He vowed to be the best Pokémon Trainer in the world, and show everyone that he can be the best.
A woman with a pink short sleeve shirt on with a yellow tank-top under it, and blue shorts comes to Ash's room.
"Hey Ash honey you need to go to bed soon, so you can wake up early for your Pokémon Journey."
"I know mother, I am going to sleep right now, I watched Professor Oak's show about the Kanto starters. Even though I am very excited."
Delia goes to Ash and kisses his forehead, "goodnight honey, you make mommy very proud of you, sweet dreams and don't forget to wake up early."
Ash goes to bed and he is dreaming about him and Blastoise taking on the Elite 4 and Champion together, he smiles in his sleep having a foam pokéball in his hand, and he throws it across his room.
Its 9:30 AM in the morning, Ash is up taking a shower so he can be fresh for his journey, he comes back to his room putting on a outfit with a red vest, blue jeans, black sneakers, a yellow backpack, and a red hat with a weird looking green L which is a brand new Expo Pokémon League hat that he won, he was very lucky to get one it took 1000 letters for him to get it, this is the only hat that was created by the Pokémon League.
He walks to his PC and withdraws an item from it, it was a potion just in case his Pokémon gets hurt from battles, also packs up berries as well for the Pokémon as well, and Pokémon food that he made with his mom, he runs towards the Professor's Laboratory.
"I am so excited to get my very first Pokémon! This is one of the very first steps of becoming a Pokémon Master!" Ash says while he stops in front of the lab.
Ash knocks on the door 3 times, he has to wait a while until the door opens, the Professor looks down and smiles at Ash.
"Hello there my boy, I wasn't expecting you to show up so early, did you get a good night's rest?" Professor walks in the lab with Ash while he is jumping up and down in excitement.
The Professor and Ash go to the table with 3 pokéballs on it, "go ahead and pick your starter Ash, you worked so hard during my classes and I can't be any prouder."
Ash goes to the table with a cerulean water drop on it and he picks it up, "I choose Squirtle as my starter." Ash took Squirtle out of his pokéball, the tiny turtle looked around and saw his trainer looking down at him.
"Hey there Squirtle, my name is Ash Ketchum and I wanna be a Pokèmon Master. The only way to be the best is to befriend as many Pokémon as I can, would you help me with that goal?" He decides to pet the tiny turtle, and he coo's as he nods.
"Great choice Ash, I always knew you liked Squirtle and it seems like he likes you too, also I got a request for you as well. You see I caught a wild Pikachu when he was chewing on my cords. Since you're really good with Pokémon, I thought you could take him with you on your journey. Also, he might be very aggressive as well, so be careful when trying to bond with it." Oak pressed a button revealing a pokéball with a lightning bolt on it and gave it to Ash.
"Okay Professor I'll help you take care of Pikachu. But im not letting him out until I get on the road." Ash smiles at the Professor.
"Great! Sense everything is covered, here is your pokédex and pokéballs." He gives Ash his brand new red pokédex and pokèballs.
Ash decides to try out the pokédex and points it at Squirtle, "Squirtle. This Tiny Turtle Pokémon draws its long neck into its shell to launch incredible water attacks with amazing range and accuracy. The blasts can be quite powerful. The moves it knows are Tackle, Water Gun, and Aqua Jet."
Ash was very impressed that it knows an egg move, he wonders if the other starters know any egg moves. When he was about to go home, he saw a girl with a light blue shirt on with a red skirt, with long light blue socks on, with red and white shoes, and had a white hat with a half pink pokéball in the center.
"Hey Ash!" She smiles brightly at him.
"Oh hello Green, you're here to get your first Pokémon?"
"Well duh of course I am, why wouldn't I be here if I wasn't?"
"You got a point." He rubs behind his head giggling.
He decides to go home to his mom and she's in the kitchen making breakfast, it's his least favorite thing to eat, which is tofu with vegetable rice balls.
"Hey mom, I am home! I got my first Pokémon today!" Squirtle is next to him smiling.
"Welcome home! I am very happy to see you got your first Pokémon." Delia turns around and sees that it's Squirtle the tiny turtle Pokémon, she runs to the door and rubs the turtle's head.
"Aren't you a cutie?" She smiles and Squirtle enjoys the rubs, "well honey breakfast is on the table, you should go ahead and eat while it's hot."
"Okay mom!" He goes to the table enjoying the meal, even though it's tofu his mom knows how to make.
Delia picks up Squirtle and takes him to the kitchen with her, she takes out a container of Pokémon food so he can eat as well.
Ash took out another pokéball that had a lightning bolt on it, Delia saw this and wondered what Pokémon that is "hey Ash aren't you supposed to get one starter?"
"Yes, but Professor Oak actually caught this Pokémon, he caught it when it was chewing on his computer cables. He wants me to have him so I can bond with it, the poor fella is probably very upset right now. So I am going to let him out!" Ash releases a yellow mouse with brown lines on its back, it has a lightning bolt type tail, also it has pointy ears.
"Pika!" Pikachu looks at Ash very curious wondering where the old man is.
"Hello there Pikachu, my name is Ash Ketchum, and I wanna be a Pokémon Master! I also got to befriend as many Pokémon as possible to accomplish that goal. So would you like to help me out and become the best that we can be?"
Pikachu is surprised to see the young boy, and he is actually surprisingly nice, so why not give the boy a chance. He sees the pokéball and slaps the ball away as he doesn't like it.
"I see you don't like pokéballs?" Pikachu nods his head no. He hated them a lot, ever since he was caught by the old man he just hated being cramped up in the ball.
As soon as they are done eating their meals he goes upstairs putting away Pikachu's pokéball, he goes back downstairs to return Squirtle back into his pokéball, and Pikachu climbs onto his shoulder. He went to hug his mom one last time before he went on the road.
"Well well well isn't that Ashy-boy?" His childhood friend/rival walks to Ash, "I see you got your first Pokémon? Why not have a battle with me to test out our starters?"
Ash smirks at his rival, "sure why not. Let's mark this battle as our first day as rivals."
Gary and Ash made room on the road and sent out their starters Squirtle and Charmander. The starters are staring down each other ready to fight each other.
"Charmander use Scratch!" Charmander obeys, starts charging at Squirtle.
"Squirtle tuck yourself into your shell!" Squirtle withdrew himself into the shell, Charmander got to Squirtle and started scratching into his shell.
"Now use your tackle attack!" His shell starts spinning and hits Charmander, and he whimpers in pain.
"Use your Water Gun!" Squirtle gets out of the shell, shooting a powerful water gun out of his mouth at Charmander.
"Hurry and Dodge!" Charmander dodges, and uses ember at Squirtle.
Squirtle just sits there and takes the ember attack, not doing any damage.
"Finish this off with Aqua Jet!" Squirtle surrounds himself in water, and rushes towards Charmander.
"Flare Blitz now!" Charmander surrounds himself in a blue fiery aura and rushes towards Squirtle.
The attacks connect each other and they are evenly matched, the attacks explode and both Charmander and Squirtle are both unconscious. Both trainers healed up their starters with berries and potion, their starters both smiled at their trainers.
"Good match Ash, I'll smell ya later next time I'll beat you!" Gary walks towards Route 1, while Ash returns his Squirtle and takes the other way towards the route.
Our Heroes had their first battle with Gary Oak, Professor Oak's grandson, what Pokémon are in store for Ash? The Journey continues.
