Werehog! Sonic x Witch! Rouge

Summary: One night, Rouge gets a knock on her door. She opens it to get a surprise visit from her partner. But it wasn't a happy one.

Warning: hurt/comfort, mentions of injury and blood

Rouge held up her now glowing bottle, letting it shimmer in the moonlight. Confirming whether it will work or not upon drinking it. The bottle contains the Ingredients for a potion. A potion that would block any mental attacks on yourself. A dear friend of hers requested she would create one for her. From what the bat can recall, it was something about a silver hedgehog frequently messing with her. Whether it was playful or not, blaze wanted the potion just to be sure he isn't trying to harm her.

When the pale light shines through the light pink liquid, Rouge knew it would work. Carefully she places the bottle on the shelves of the completed potions. Marking it with Blaze's name on a sticky note, to remind her it's for her friend. Upon gazing at the row of her creations, she begins to think of her significant other. Especially when she notices the dark red potion on the far right. The love potion. Rouge made that potion months ago, when she had one too many drinks. Although she never frequently thought of having a lover -unlike that pink hedgehog- she will admit the thought has crossed her mind every once in a while. It was idiotic of her to make that potion. She did it in self-pity. Honestly, if she hadn't met her favourite blue hedgehog, then she may have stupidly used the potion on some poor unfortunate soul. Rouge turns away from the collection of her creations, to finally get some well-earned sleep, only for sudden knocks on her door to change that.

The loud knocks seem urgent, which was rather surprising to rouge. Who at this time of night would be desperate to see a witch?.. unless-

"Sonic?" Rouge rushes to the front door of her trailer, opening the door to reveal a surprise. It was Sonic, in his werewolf form, but his body was hunched over. His head hung low so Rouge was unable to see his face. Yet that wasn't the first thing she noticed; it was that his chest was smeared with red. His large claw did its best to cover the deep injury, only to soon be covered in dark crimson. Rouge gasps, "Oh my- Sonic what happened?" She looks up, waiting for him to answer. All he does is a grunt in response, stumbling past the bat in a huff. He attempts to make it to the bed but bumps into the edge of a table. Causing him to fall forward on his knees and growl in frustration.

Rouge was quick to be by his side, offering to help him stand. Wrapping his arm around her shoulders, she lifts him up. "Th...thanks," Sonic says in between short breathes of exhaustion. He must have run all the way here from something, or someone. Rouge leads the large werehog to the right side of her bed. Lowering him to sit down alongside her. Sonic removes his arm from his girlfriend's shoulders, having it clutch around his wound once more. Rouge's eyebrows knit together,

"What happened?" She reaches to caress his cheek, "Who did this to you?" Sonic looks down to the floor, avoiding her gaze. He felt pathetic like this; even in his werehog form, he somehow manages to get injured from one silly mistake. He should've taken the same route to Rouge's trailer. Not some dodgy, dark trail that's part of the forest.

"Some-some hunters." His deep voice breathes out. The witch's lips puff out, questioning how the hunters found him. Sonic is supposed to take a certain route to make it to the witch's territory. Without bumping into any danger in the forest. Yet it seems Sonic has taken a new path; a path where hunters and other dangers frequently inhibit. "I thought they didn't see me, but they did. When I was running away, one of them managed to get ahead of me. Maybe they knew I was going to yours or something. He shot me. So, out of anger, I killed him and continued running until I got here."

Rouge strokes one of his large quills, his smooth fur dancing through her fingers. Sonic slightly shudders from her touch, thankful for the comfort. Rouge lets out a sigh, "Sonic, I thought you learned your lesson from last time." He leans his head backwards, pushing his quills into his girlfriend's palm. Her gently petting helps Sonic to distract him from the pain. Rouge stands up, still keeping her hand on him. "Honestly, you're lucky to have me as your girlfriend." She moves away from the bed. Her hand drifts off of his quill. Upon noticing the soft touch disappear, Sonic's head darts in the witch's direction. Questioning not only her comment but what she's doing now. Rouge goes toward a small counter, opening the second top drawer. She takes bandages, a piece of cloth and forceps out. Using her free hand, she pulls a small table to be beside the bed. A few centimetres from Sonic.

"If we weren't together, I would've whacked you across the head for potentially leading hunters to my home." Rouge places the items on the table.

Sonic lets out a snort, laughing faintly, "Wow. Thanks, babe." A smirk forms on the bat's face; Rouge loves this back and forth between them. A mini competition to see who can one-up another. "You're the nicest witch I know."

Rouge gets on her tippy toes, reaching for a mixed purple and blue bottle. "I'm the only witch you know."

"How do you know that?" Rouge looks over her shoulder, at first shocked to know there's possibly more of her coven. Yet that shock quickly leaves upon Sonic chuckling at her reaction. "Come on, I'm just messin' with ya! You know-" A loud cough erupts from his throat, along with a few spits of blood. Sonic hunches forward, his blood falling to the floor. Rouge fast walks back to the table, setting the bottle closest to know it's the first item she'll use.

Rouge places her hand on his shoulder, lightly pushing him down. "I need you to lay down dear." Sonic obliges, removing his hand from his wound as well. Grabbing the potion, Rouge lowers her hand beside the open injury. The werehog tenses. "I'll pour this on your chest and use the cloth to slightly push it. To make it affect you quicker," Rouge explains, using her teeth to pull off the bottle's top. Sonic hums, trying to relax in case the liquid will cause some stinging. Carefully, Rouge pours a small puddle onto the wound. A groan of pain drips from the werehog's lips, due to not only how cold it was but the immediate stings on his flesh.

"Fuck! You could've warned me about it stinging." Sonic growls, his hands clench the purple sheets. She daps the cloth onto the liquid, smearing some of it to further cover the red crimson on her boyfriend's chest.

Rouge sighs, a hint of genuine sadness in her tone. "Sorry honey. It's my first time using this potion; I didn't know it would sting." After four more daps, Rouge removes the cloth. Putting the damp cloth and the now-closed bottle on the table. She picks up the forceps, opening it and leaning forward. Allowing herself to get a closer look at her boyfriend's injury. "This won't hurt as much as it's supposed to. Thanks to the potion." Rouge explains, before digging the forceps into the wound. Swiftly she grasps the bullet with the forceps and pulls it out. Doing her best to ignore Sonic's howls of agony. Rouge hated to hear her poor boyfriend in pain. She hasn't gotten used to them. It seems every night he visits her, he somehow gets himself hurt. The last time Sonic came to her trailer, he came inside with a rather large slash on his palm. He never told her what happened, just that it was an accident. It worries Rouge how easily he can get injured in the forest. Maybe she should live closer to the village. Although it comes to be risky (due to some of the villagers being witch hunters), it can reduce the chances of her Sonic getting hurt.

Sonic had his eyes closed, taking deep and heavy breaths in and out. He's hating every second of this (who wouldn't). It almost makes him regret avoiding the path. Almost. What makes up this pain was Rouge. Sonic won't ever admit it out loud, but he likes Rouge taking care of him. It was nice to see her be so gentle with him. "Hey, I've been thinking-" Her voice startles him at first, his chest having a quick jump. Rouge seems to take no notice of it. He looks down to see she was now wrapping the bandage around him. "-how about I move closer to the village? My trips to get supplies will have time reduced. Plus, you wouldn't get yourself in much trouble."

As soon as Rouge finishes the last wrap of the bandage, Sonic sits up. Although it hurts leaning up. With a couple of grunts, Sonic replies "No- no. You don't have to move because of me." He was swift to assume he's the reason for Rouge thinking about moving. "This was my fault; I should've taken the path as you've always said."

"But you never listen, do you?" Rouge says, raising an eyebrow. "You don't listen and get yourself hurt. It's like I'm taking care of a child half of the time." She jokes with a dry chuckle. Rouge was discomforted by this. Even though she knew Sonic can handle his self, she worries that one day he wouldn't arrive at her trailer anymore. That he'll be killed by one of those hunters. With his body either being left in the forest or turned into a rug.

Sonic spots that look in those teal eyes of Rouges. That look of genuine worry. In a way to reassure his promise, Sonic takes hold of her hand. His large hand easily covers hers. "Rouge... I'm sorry if-" Sonic was struggling to find the right wording; Rouge stays quiet to allow him time to think. "I just wanted to explore more of the forest. I know I shouldn't go as far to the hunting grounds but...I wanted to see how far I could go. I'm sorry."

Rouge lets his words sink in. She appreciated that he wasn't trying to excuse his injuries from being impulsive; he knew what could happen but still took the risk. With a squeeze of his hand, Sonic looks back to Rouge. To view a subtle smile crossing her plump lips. "Thank you for apologizing. Honestly, though, I just wish you'll just be more careful. Some of those hunters are vicious; don't you remember one of the encounters Amy had with a hunter?" Sonic slowly nods, as the memory replays in his mind. Amy accidentally ran onto the hunters ground, she was chasing a bunny to so call 'play' with it. Upon finally catching up to the bunny, a hunter found her. Shotting the female werehog in her leg. She was lucky to escape him. If it wasn't for Knuckles hearing her howls nearby, she might have been killed.

"I don't want that to happen to you." Her hand lifts up from his hand, to rest on his fluffy bicep. In response, Sonic moves his hand to Rouge's thigh, offering a gentle squeeze. "You're very important to me Sonic." Her face leans forward, her eyes linger on his lips. Sonic reciprocates, inching closer where both could feel their breaths on their skin. "I can't lose you. If that ever happens I don't-"

Sonic fills the small gap between them, crashing his lips to hers. Catching her off guard at first, but soon kisses him back. Her hands reach up to grab the werehog's shoulders. Feeling parts of his fur stick out in between her fingers. Sonic's hands move around her hips; pulling her closer. Neither of them wanted to pull away. They wanted to continue sharing the passionate moment for ages. However, Sonic had to pull away upon sensing a cough riding up his throat. He jerks away and turns his head to the side. Coughing out blood to the floor. Rouge pats him in support,

"I'll clean that up later."
