"Ta-daa!" Loki exclaimed as the ship reappeared in a new place. The ground around them was covered in black debris. They had finally made it to their destination: The Dark World.
"Remind me to never book a flight with Loki airlines again." Luciana said, straightening herself up from her crouching position.
The second prince chuckled at her jab. "Oh you hurt me Lucy, I'd have given you a discount."
"No, thanks!"

As they sailed across the dead land it was only a matter of time until the two brothers started to engage in an argument. Loki was insisting that his brother had to say goodbye to Jane, even if they would manage to save her. Her short life span still meant nothing to theirs and it would only cause him all the more pain. Luciana sincerely wanted to object to this, but she couldn't. After all she couldn't deny that there was truth in his words, and it pained her that Thor would most likely end up with a broken heart no matter what.
The topic soon shifted towards their late mother and she started feeling uncomfortable as their banter got more and more angry, threatening to go out of hand. However, she felt like it wasn't her place to interrupt them. There were things between them that had to be said, so that the ever persisting strain in their relationship could maybe disappear one day. And so she remained silent, even as Thor slammed his brother against the edge of the ship in his rage. But it was a rage they both felt, as they both grieved for their mother and wanted nothing more than to avenge her death. It was this rage that united them now.
And who was she to go between that.

Luciana didn't know how long the group had been flying across the wasteland when Jane opened her eyes, propping herself up. As if being called by something, she turned towards the sky. In the distance a huge spacecraft could be seen.
"Malekith…" she whispered.

Loki had landed their boat safely on the ground a few miles away from their enemies. The group was crouching on top of a hill as they looked across the horizon, watching Malekith and his underlings lining up. They must have sensed the Aether flowing through Jane's veins.
"Are you ready?" the first prince asked his companions.
His brother responded almost immediately with determination in his voice. "I am."
And soon after they both rose to their feet. It was time to put their play on the stage.

Everything went accordingly. After Thor had cut his brother free from his cuffs the latter pretended to stab him. Both Jane and Luciana ran after the first prince as his body rolled down the hill. While the scientist crouched down next to the God of Thunder, she attempted to go against Loki with her rapier, only to be overpowered shortly after. He held her by her thick hair and in one swift motion slit her throat.
"W-why…" she wheezed as the blood gushed out of the wound, tainting herself and the floor under her in a deep red. As she sank to the ground she thought she saw a pained expression on his face for a split second. But no sooner had she spotted it, it was gone.
Leaving her to her demise, he went on, focusing on his brother again, who tried to attack him with Mjolnir. However, before the hammer could reach his wielder, the God of Mischief's dagger went down, chopping off the blonde's hand. To make the ruse perfect, he grabbed Jane and tossed her over to Malekith as a gift, proclaiming he only wished to see Asgard burn.

And it seemed to work. The leader of the Dark Elves believed him and went to extract the Aether from the scientist's body. Her body fell to the ground soon after, where she lay motionless.
It was at that moment that the act was over.
"Loki now!" Thor yelled from the ground.
And the next moment his brother dissolved his magic, revealing the truth behind the illusion. It was now time for them to strike. Thor reached out his very much intact hand, calling for Mjolnir. With a loud roar he channeled lightning and shot it towards the sky where the Aether was still floating. In the meantime both Luciana and Loki threw themselves over Jane's unprotected body, shielding her from the explosion caused by the collision.

As the cloud of dust around them lifted, red crystals hovered in the air. It may have looked like the Aether got destroyed, but in reality it was still very much existing. And now it was reforming itself back into a thousand small particles. Small particles that were soon absorbed by Malekith. The leader of the Dark Elves promptly turned away from them, heading back into the direction of his aircraft. But not before giving his underlings some new instructions.

"Not good." Luciana said, rising up from covering Jane.
Thor tried to follow them, swinging his hammer at two of the elves. What he didn't see was how the armored creature responsible for the queen's death held something in its clawed hand. It was one of the gravity cubes that, once activated, sucked in every matter in its proximity before imploding. Now such a cube was directly thrown at them, heading straight for Jane Foster. Noticing the incoming danger, Loki jumped, pushing the scientist out of harm's way not a second too soon. However, that resulted in him being targeted by the magical object instead.
"Loki!" Luciana screamed, trying in vain to grab his outstretched hand and keep him from getting sucked in by the cube. "No, no, no!"
This was not supposed to happen. They hadn't requested for the trickster god's help just for him to get killed like that.
Luckily, his brother had no intention of following down that road. Not a second too soon, Thor came flying and tackled the second prince away from danger.
It took a great load off her mind when she saw the two of them tumble to the ground and she let out a breath she didn't even notice she had been holding.

However, the battle was far from over. While Thor took off after the monster, she and Loki soon found themselves surrounded by Dark Elves. They both summoned their weapons, taking a fighting stance.
"That's not the kind of center of attention I like to be in." she joked, taking a swing at one of them.
That earned her a laugh from her friend as he stabbed another in the chest. "And here I thought you liked making others dance for you."
"Just because I like kicking your stupid ass doesn't mean I enjoy doing that with complete strangers. Especially not when they look like… this." The brunette made a disgusted face, motioning at their opponents with her weapon.
"Oh, Lady Echo, I am so honored to belong to the chosen ones."
"Yeah, you should be!"

In the midst of their fight Loki's head suddenly snapped to the side. Curious what had caught his attention, she turned her eyes as well. A bit away Thor was engaged in a fight with their mother's murderer. A fight he seemed to be losing.
"Go! I can take care of these guys." she yelled. It would be alright. Their opponents weren't particularly skilled and Luciana was sure she could take care of the rest of them on her own. To her surprise though, the second prince seemed to be hesitating. "Are you sure?"
"Are you doubting my skill?"
"I'd never dream of it."
"Good. You would regret it. And now go!"
He nodded and after snatching one of the Elves's swords he darted off in the direction of his brother. One of them tried to follow him, but he was promptly stricken down from behind by Luciana. "I'm your opponent and I don't particularly like getting ignored."
The Elves's blood splattered to the ground as she pulled her rapier out of its body. "Now who of you wants to be sliced up next?"
An amused grin on her lips the brunette charged at the remaining enemies. It didn't take her long to take them down as the mere underlings couldn't keep up with her skill level and soon the last Elf dropped to the floor. Luciana wiped the sweat from her forehead and was about to sheathe back her rapier when she heard a terrible scream behind her.

She spun around just in time to see Loki drop to the ground in the distance and all the blood left her face. The next moment she found herself sprinting across the black debris towards the two brothers. While running, she saw the armored creature imploding in the sky, most likely due to one of the magic cubes. She should have felt joy at the sight but the only emotion she felt was dread, as her heart hammered in her chest.
When she finally reached them, Loki lay still on the ground, his brother crouching next to his body. Behind them Jane appeared, watching the scene in silence as she didn't know what to say. The sight in front of her caused a hollow feeling in Luciana's chest and she had to force herself to choke out her next words. "Thor… He's going to be ok, right? Loki, he-"

"He's dead."

So why can't you stay just long enough to explain?

The group of three seeked shelter from the stark wind that swept over the wasteland inside a small cave. Along the way Luciana hadn't spoken a single word and even now she continued to be silent. Jane kept throwing her worried glances and she kept asking the God of Thunder whether the other woman was alright and if she should say something, but the blonde only kept telling her to leave her alone.

Luciana hadn't cried, not this time. She refused to do so. It wouldn't change anything and it wasn't the right time either. Besides, she refused to give him the satisfaction of making her drown in grief for a second time.

Even though it had pained him tremendously, the now sole prince of Asgard had to leave the body of his brother behind, albeit he took note of its location to send a batch of guards to retrieve him once they got back to Asgard. Luciana hadn't protested, in fact she hadn't shown any kind of reaction to his declaration. This had struck the blonde as strange but he wrote it off as a consequence of the shock of losing him, twice now.

She absentmindedly listened to their conversation when suddenly Jane's cell phone started to ring. It should have been impossible, yet here she was, talking with a person located on earth. There was only one explanation for this: The Convergence.
While on the phone, she started walking deeper into the cave, finding all kinds of weird objects there.
"Why are there so many shoes here?" the God of Thunder asked in his confusion before noticing that Luciana wasn't following them. Turning around he opened his mouth to say something but she beat him to it.
"I'm staying. "
"Are you sure?"
"Yes. Your father's guards will arrive here soon. They will take me back."
"Alright. If my father tries to punish you, tell him it was all my idea and I will take full responsibility for it."
She nodded and a small smile appeared on her lips. "I'd never thought to hear you say the word responsibility."
That earned her a laugh from her friend before he turned back towards the scientist. She was still on the phone but looked into Luciana's direction.
"Keep him from doing anything stupid."
Jane laughed and mouthed her a silent "Will do." After that the two took a few more steps down the cave and suddenly they were gone.

Just take these chances, we'll make it somehow
