Chapter Nine: Going Back Home

"When will you be back?" Kenna asked him as they watched the clouds floating above them. She felt so happy that King Daniel was willing to spend time with her. He had a lot to do as he was sending his servants and the guards of the castle on errands that required most of the day to complete. He spent most of him time with the Archduchess helping her get used to court as her brother had left her alone when he went back home.

"Depending on how the talks go it might be from a few months to a year." Danny said. He was upset because he would have to put this vacation on hold and return to Dinai. He was going by himself because it would be faster than going by Ha'tak What would take the ship about four months could be done in less than ten minutes. His Jaffa knew what he wanted them to do while he was gone. Make sure his vampires did not kill themselves, make sure his werewolves did not die of hunger, keep track that the Catholic churches were being stripped of their jewels and treasures, and that they were spreading the glorious word of Nirtti. There were other items but that was at the top of the list.

"Why must you go?" Kenna asked sitting up as she brushed a strand of her hair behind her head.

"An issue has arisen in my kingdom, and I must see what it is about." Danny said.

"What kind of issue?" Kenna asked. She wanted to see his kingdom with her own eyes on day. He was an amazing person so his kingdom must fill filled with things she had never seen before. She imagined that the castles shined under the sun like diamonds. There were rubies in all of the jewelry and the paintings were sewn with gold

"Knowing Nirtti and her kind they probably are aiming to strike down another god or goddess." Danny said.

"A war between the gods." Kenna said in awe while fully believing in Danny's cause. She might not know much about him, but she believed that whatever challenge he would face that he would come out victorious. She did not know much about the stories of other religions. That sort of thing was more Lola's expertise. She could talk to you about all kinds of stories. From Greek heroes to Norse berserkers.

"I have something I want to ask you." Kenna said.

"Ask?" Danny asked.

"What do you plan on doing with Lola?" Kenna asked. It was not a time for a woman to be alone especially when one was about to have a child. When Lola gave birth to her child word would spread and no man would take her for a wife. She would have to marry far below her station, and she did not want that to happen to one of her close friends. So, if she could find some means to protect her, she would do anything.

"What do you mean?" Danny asked.

"I was wondering if you knew a rich noble that would be kind to Lola when she had the child?" Kenna asked.

"I will think on the matter." Danny said even though he already had planned to marry Lola and Sebastian.

"You mean it?" Kenna asked, "King Henry made promises to me too but he never fulfilled them." The King when he attempted to make good on his promise only brought her men that were sick or old or too far down their family lines to matter. They had money but not enough to keep her satisfied. She wanted the person she married to be able to protect her and look after their family no matter the circumstances.

"Yes, I do. Let us not ruin our parting with such thoughts. Let us enjoy the day." Danny said as he kissed Kenna.

"I have arrived." Danny said to Nirtti through the contact orb as he stepped away from the Chappa'ai. It was located a continent away from his castle to make sure that in the event of an invasion they would be trapped and soon hunted down.

He teleported to the front of his castle on Dinai and watched as the human servants bowed at his appearance. The caste system of Dinai was a very simple thing. Humans whether they were bought, traded, or saved from enemies were on the bottom. They held jobs like building structures, finding and selling goods, cleaning building, tending to his farms/animals, and so on. The Jaffa were above them as they were the soldiers, he used to pilot his ships, fight his battles, guard the humans that went exploring either dangerous areas or when they went off world. The werewolves and the vampires once they were welcomed to his forces would be given similar roles.

"Glorious king you have returned." The servant in front of him said as his kneeled in front of him. He was curious who this was and so he took a look into his mind.

Gajiil could not believe that he was lucky enough to see King Daniel in the flesh. He was the man chosen by Nirrti and bestowed powers beyond the understanding of mere mortals like him. The goddess had chosen him to rule over these lands and freed him from the power of time. He had been alive before he had been born and there were countless stories of monsters slayed by his hands. The rampaging chimera that had trampled through Fiore, the giant serpent that claimed Alvarez, The giant fire breathing bears of Elentir and countless others.

"I have returned from my adventure, but I shall not be staying long." Danny said as he looked at what the people of this planet considered his castle. On Earth the moon was beginning to rise over France but here the sun was still in the afternoon on Dinai.

"If I may be so rude, I have a request of you." Gajiil said while still kneeling.

"What is it?" Danny asked.

"Great King my village has been suffering under a drought for the past six months and I am pleading that you can save us?" Gajiil asked.

"What kind of king would I be if I ignored a subject of mine that was suffering and asked for help." Danny said as he created a duplicate to deal with Gajiil's problem.

"Thank you, my king." Gajiil said before the duplicate took off into the sky with him being pulled along with telekinesis.

Danny had a smile on his face as he walked through the palace's entrance. He ignored all the statues of Nirtti and him made out of gold and encrusted with jewels. A new one was made every year and he had long lost any embarrassment he felt at seeing the statues. He walked through the hallways and kneeling servants and eventually reached the throne room and faced Nirtti.

Her current body was of a beautiful older woman with dark red hair (1). The body looked to a decade or two older than his. Her body used to belong to a woman on a planet named Caprica. It was owned by Cardea. She was a minor Goa'uld that had taunted Nirrti about her fall from System Lord.

She did not like taking it well. She sent him to attack the world and leave a huge version of Nirtti's symbol on the most populated city while stealing every single person that lived there. The Jaffa he had struck fast and hard and he watched as they stormed the city. It was one of his first tasks given by Nirtti and also the reason why he improved communication technology between his army. Not being able to keep track of his army and see what the city was like is why he had lost fifty Jaffa to their secret hideouts and ambushes.

"My Love you have arrived." Nirtti said as she sat on one of the thrones above him. Hers was on the right with her symbol etched above the chair in gold while his was on the left. It was a sideways capital letter D that hung like an open laughing mouth with the proper capital letter M going through it.

"I cannot stay away from you." Danny said with a smile as he walked up the steps to Nirtti and lightly brought her hand up to his lips kissing it.

"You say that, yet you plan to stay away for ten more years." Nirtti said as she pouted at him. Daniel was her favorite discovery. An actual living ancient that was allowing her to study his biology and figure out how his advanced capabilities came to be. The information available to him had increased her knowledge on genetic manipulation by centuries. The Ancients had found a way to break down the D.N.A. structure of an individual and manipulate it on a scale beyond any Goa'uld.

The Jaffa the most successful of the Goa'uld's attempt at manipulating D.N.A. were barely worth a mention. Such an ancient achievement and there had been no improvement since. With Daniel's help she would learn the secrets of the Ancients and use them to bring her dreams to reality.

"There are many things left behind on the planet that can be useful." Danny said as he opened a hole in space and pulled out the spear of Osiris.

"What is this?" Nirtti asked him.

"This is a gift for you. The Spear of Osiris." Danny said as he floated the golden coated spear to Nirtti.

"I have not seen this in such a long time. Where did you find this?" Nirtti asked. "I remember the meetings with Osiris as he used this spear to strike down people who had displeased him."

That was such a long time ago. It was when the Unas were still the most used vessel and only those favored by Ra had been given human vessels. Before they had learned of the Asgard, and before she had become a system lord.

"I found the tomb that was filled with Osiris's treasures after he was sealed away." Danny said only telling her bits of the truth. He preferred not being surrounded by Goa'ulds. It would be even worse if Ra found out what was going on. Hiding enemies of Ra alongside his second Queen would just send the the Goa'uld into a panic. He might try and use the Eye of Ra and nobody really needed that.

"Do you know what happened to Osiris?" Nirtti asked.

"I am still studying records of what happened in that time. The people that served Osiris only knew that Ra came and punished him. Either they knew nothing, or the stories have been lost to them." Danny said as he left Nirtti and walked to his throne. The moment he took a seat he connected with the entire castle and through the castle he could keep track of whatever was going on in any part of the planet.

"That is unfortunate." Nirtti said with a pout that he would have called adorable.

"What are you looking for?" Nirtti asked as she looked at the screen.

He was the only one able to access the castle' s systems because this place was designed to only work for those that matched the D.N.A. scanner and unlike the other systems he had shared with her this was something that only he would allow himself to fly.

"We can watch while you tell me when Kali and Amaterasu plan on arriving." Danny said waving his hand as a hologram of the planet appeared before them and zoomed into the image of his duplicate and Gajiil.

"I love you. I will never leave you again." Gajiil said as he went to his knees and started praising the dirt.

"It was not that bad." Danny said as he took a look at the village before him. It was surrounded by a wooden wall which Jaffa walked about on patrol for any sign of crime or problem. They were equipped with a simple steel staff but when the need arose and it was activated it could be used to electrify people into a state of numbness. It was better than using the staff weapon on his servants.

In the case of confusing events the Jaffa were stun everyone in the area and the let the village judge deal with the questioning off the events.

"I meant no offense great king." Gajiil said.

"I am sure that you did not." Danny said as he walked to the gates that led to the village. The moment he stepped to the gate the door began to open.

"Make way of the door. The King is coming." The Jaffa Shubat called out to the villagers walking below. He had been walking his patrol wishing that the day would continue in its peaceful manner given that today was very hot, and they were rationing water at the moment as the river was running shallow. That was clearly not going to happen given that the king was coming here in person for some reason.

'This looks like a calm place' Danny thought to himself as he took a look at the buildings made of stone and wood. The children were looking outside the windows to catch a glimpse of him as he passed through. He could see the basketball stands that the original had gifted the people a century ago when he introduced the sport to the people. he wanted to move the people away from blood sports and death matches. He wanted to save that for the people that committed crimes or broke his peace. For those individuals depending on the crime, it might well involve them fighting a horrible monster if they so choose.

"What is the name of this village?" Danny asked Gajiil.

"It is called Balsam my king." Gajiil said. He had not been born in this village having come from Tuly but this was where he had met his wife and where his child was going to be born.

"Do you need any assistance my king?" Shubat asked

"Where is the mayor's lodging." Danny asked Shubat.

"He lives near the edge of the village that way." Shubat pointed. Mayor Ma'Krov was one of oldest humans living in the village, but you would never know it given how spry he could be. He walked around the village every day checking on every villager and making sure everyone was content.

"The lead the way." Danny said as he was led to the mayor's manor. It was the widest building in the village even if it was not the biggest. That belonged to the temple of Nirtti. The Goa'uld would have set the village on fire if the temple praising her was not the largest structure. No matter where you were in the village you could just look up and you would see it. It probably helped people in the village tell where they were if they got lost.

"I will knock for you, my king." Shubat said as he walked up to the door.

"Yes?" Ma'krov asked as he looked up at the people standing in front of his door.

Acordding to Gajiil He had been trying to figure out what to do about the lowering water supply, so they did not die of dehydration. His current plan was going to be sending some volunteers to the next village to see if they could borrow some of their supply while sending another group to the ocean and gathering water. Once they returned, they would have to purify it to get rid of the salt and make it safe for others. It would be hard work and he might need the assistance of the Jaffa.

"I have come to talk to you." Danny said gaining Ma'krov's attention. The man saluted instead of kneeling as he was at an age that made kneeling difficult.

"Let us go inside." Ma'krov said as he led them inside his manor.

The manor was a gift to each elected mayor the moment they took office and was cleaned when the mayor died or was fired. The inside was filled with the paintings of the past mayors that were elected during his reign. He had met some of them briefly when they came to the castle to inform him of their appointment but for most, he had forgotten them as soon as he had met them.

"What can I do for you, my king?" Ma'krov asked as they sat around the table and his servants brought juice from the Ipnaj fruit.

It was what he had been drinking so to let the village enjoy even a little more water. It was too sweet for his taste usually, but he would suffer almost anything for his people.

Sebas the older servant was born in the village While Urix was from a more distant land. He was one of the people brought here when he ransacked a city that belonged to the goddess Cardea.

"I have heard that there has been a problem with the water supply." Danny said.

Villages were supplied fresh and clean water from a storehouse that was supposed to be resupplied when it rained. It was usually enough that it could supply the village and spread through a separate tunnel and form an artificial river that ran for miles until it reached the ocean. It was something he had placed near each village. That way they were not reliant on just one natural source of water.

"Yes, it is true. We have been supplying it with rainwater like you instructed so long ago but we have been dealing with a serious drought." Ma'krov said.

"It is like I told you, my king." Gajiil said.

"Very well. I will restore the store house and the river to what it was before the drought. You on the other hand must sacrifice two cows, two rabbits, and a bird in a giant fire in the village in the name of Nirtti." Danny said.

The ritual sacrifice of animals in prayer to the gods was a longstanding tradition and as long as the people stuck to animals than Danny was not going to interfere.

"We promise." Ma'krov said as his king began to rise and walked back to the entrance of his manor.

Danny and Gajiil walked through the forest and eventually reached a hill made of stone. He started flying to the top while Gajiil was pulled behind him.

"Thank you for bringing me with you, my king." Gajiil said.

Of course, he did he needed witnesses to his deeds so that his people continued the belief. Stories could be forgotten, and deeds could be doubted through the passage of time so whenever he did something incredible, he wanted witnesses. This way they would believe and pass the stories on. They would provide the basis for faith in him and by that process Nirtti.

Once they reached the inside of the hill, they saw the massive reservoir. It was a massive square that was covered by a steel box to prevent contamination either by animals or by the location where the reservoir was held. Each village had something similar and for extra protection only the mayor of each village had the code that unlocked the door to give access to the reservoir. They were to only use it when they were resupplying it with collected rainwater.

"How are you going to get past the door my king?" Gajiil asked looking at the steel box that guarded the water.

"Do not worry." Danny said as he walked up to the door and placed a hand on it. The door slid before to the side opening the path. "As the chosen king of Nirtti nothing can be hidden from me. No path that I cannot take."

"You are always so dramatic." Nirtti said with a laugh as she looked at the duplicate.

"I wonder where I picked it up from." Danny said as he looked at Nirtti who gained a small smile on her face as she looked away. They had long since left the throne room of the castle and were now in his quarters watching the task his duplicate was dealing with. Nirtti liked watching his adventures as it allowed to gather data and see how her non-human experiments did in battle. The ones that did well enough were sent to the worlds of her enemies. They tormented the populace and annoyed the Goa'uld that ruled over them.

It was rare for them to kill one of her enemies but the main purpose of them was that she was petty, and she wanted to annoy the people that caused her to lose status among the system lords. If enough of them died, then she believed that she might be able to get her position back. Probably why she was so nervous about this meeting even though she tried to hide it.

For someone that focused so much on her research to the point that she ignored the infighting of other Goa'ulds entirely she was certainly making sure that this meeting between Kali and Amaterasu was going to go perfectly. Ka'ra her prime was ordering about the servants with a determined hurry. They were making sure that everything was going to go perfectly or else their villages would be razed to the ground.

They were getting the best animals to be sacrificed, the best dancers and entertainers, the sweetest fruit and juiciest meat, the most extravagant wine, and the most fit detained villagers for the death matches as a Goa'uld meeting without the deaths of at least twenty servants was a boring affair. The castle was going to be flying in the air during the feast so that she could show off to both the other Goa'ulds and their servants. Nirtti was the only Goa'uld with a flying castle that was not a Ha'tak and she was going to show it off even if that brought others here to try and take it when word reached of it. Even more so when they learned that it was built by Ancient technology.

He was kind of over it all as he had been to many feasts while back on earth and truthfully would like a break from it all to work on his projects.

He was going to use what he learned from the sword of Telchak and what bits he discovered from the Ancient healing device and make a new pair of swords. One was going to be a crimson blade that with a single swing could take the lives of one hundred enemies. The other was going to be a cerulean blue sword that could save the lives of one hundred allies (2).

Yes, he was probably being a gigantic over-dramatic dork, but he needed a way to pass the time and combining sci-fi and anime weapons was a fun enough hobby.

"I find that offensive. You were like this as soon as we met. You were the one that came up with the blessed king of Nirtti role." Nirtti said as she gave him a hug and wrapped around his shoulders bringing her face close to his. "Look at that smile on your face as you conjure rain before the slave. You enjoy the awe and worship he is giving you."

Gajiil looked like his eyes were going to fall out its sockets with how huge they were growing. Danny knew the moment he returned to his how he was going to tell his wife Le'vi how their king made it rain inside a closed room until it filled the reservoir.

"There are things I would enjoy more." Danny said as he turned Nirtti's head and brought it in for a kiss. He waved his hand and vanished the screen that was watching them. His B.I.R.D. would continue recording so he could see whatever happened next to Gajiil and if the village would prepare the sacrifices.

(1) Nirtti's current body looks like Lucretia from Spartacus blood and Sand.

(2) The swords are a mix of lightsabers and Tessaiga and Tensaiga.
