Chapter Fourteen: As the Day Turns
(London, England)
"So how are you feeling?" Lady Sansa Stark asked her as she bit into her biscuit.
Sansa Stark was one of her ladies-in-waiting from a family up in the north. She was the sweetest person among her ladies. They were all sitting at a table watching as Prince Louis practiced his swordplay against guards stationed in the castle. He was waiting for the Vatican's gifts and so practicing his swordsmanship. The sword would have to be returned eventually but holding such an ancient weapon was an honor on its own. He was currently staying with Lord Darnley (Henry Stuart) while his brother King Antoine of Navarre gathered the French men that would be forming their part of the army.
"I will not deny that I feel cheerful right now." Queen Elizabeth said. The House of Valois had been officially excommunicated by the Pope. The word going around was that King Henry had fallen under the control of some sorcerer. If things went well enough, she could regain the crowns of France and Scotland. Something not even her father or her grandfather were able to achieve.
"The Pope must be nervous about this threat if he is actually aiding you." Lady Margaery Tyrell said after she put her cup of tea down. Catholics were not a fan of Elizabeth given that she charged them fines whenever they did not appear in her church. The Pope even less so since Queen Elizabeth and her mother were the reason that England formed their own church and split off from Rome.
The Tyrells were one of the wealthiest families in her kingdom. They were a family that was still rather young only recently attaining rank during the reign of her sister Queen Mary. so many were upset that Margaery held such a position. Tywin Lannister and his family were still upset that the Tyrells had been chosen over one of their many members.
"The Pope would rather see Scotland and France remain in the hands of good Christian people than under the control of a sorcerer that worships a pagan goddess." Queen Elizabeth said. It was assumed that whoever had taken control of King Henry had clearly done the same to the royal family. Otherwise, they would not allow what was happening in France if they had any freedom. So that meant they all had to be dealt with.
"I have learned that King Henry is going to be marrying his daughter Princess Claude to the sorcerer." Margaery said.
That was one of the things that she liked about her. Margaery knew all the court gossip. She as Queen was not allowed to be perceived as having made mistakes and was constantly being challenged and tested at every single turn. Margaery was able to get all the gossip and bring it to her while she kept the image of being pious and perfect. She could serve as Spymaster after Varys retired if she so desired.
"She must be so terrified." Sansa said pitying Princess Claude.
"This sorcerer is certainly not subtle." Mya said as she lifted her cup of tea. She wished that she could be riding right now but Queen Elizabeth wanted to enjoy the sun that was so rare in England and so they were here.
Mya was the bastard daughter of Lord Robert Baratheon. She was the most adventurous of her girls and they got along rather well because of their issues with their fathers. They had met when she went on a visit to the Baratheon Estate.
"Each step he makes is like a cannon going off." Margaery said.
"What do you think is driving such a man?" Lady Daphne Bridgeton said.
She was a recent addition to the group and was still finding her place. Her family had come to nobility during the reign of her brother King Edward VI.
"It should be no surprise that he is ambitious and power hungry. He has turned his back on the love of God to obtain such vile abilities." Elizabeth said. The sorcerer had King Henry forcing priest to spit lies to their followers, allowing prostitutes into the royal castle, and burning down the houses of people that tried to fight this evil. She might not like Catholics, but this new religion only spoke of dangerous times.
"I have heard that he is a handsome man." Margaery said.
"That will make no difference when he is burned at the stake or has his head chopped off by Prince Louis's sword." Sansa said. In all the old stories she had been raised with the good knight always slayed the evil sorcerer.
"It will not be an easy task." Elizabeth said. It was doubtful that the sorcerer would be in the front lines. They might have to go all the way to Paris and storm the castle to take his head.
"My Queen." William Cecil said announcing his presence to the Queen with a bow.
"Is there something that needs my attention?" Elizabeth asked.
"Lord Dudley has requested an audience." William said.
"Very well. Tell him to wait for me in my solar." Elizabeth said.
"Very well." William said as he went off to talk to Lord Dudley of Leicester.
"That man gives me the creeps." Mya said once he was out of range.
"I know what you mean. Looking at him sends shivers down my spine." Sansa said.
"I know that you two have your reservations about Lord William, but he works very hard for my sake." Elizabeth said. Loyalty was a very important thing to her, and Lord William had proved it many times.
"The Queen is right. Lord William is dedicated and that is useful in times like these." Margaery said before taking a sip of her tea. The main reason she did not have a problem with the man was that she knew of his nasty habits and with the proper threat could control him. Her family had people keeping an eye on many of the people in Queen Elizabeth's court. As long as they had the proper information, they could stay a step ahead of their enemies. It was also how she knew that Queen Elizabeth was having an affair with Lord Robert Dudley. The two certainly liked to live dangerously. King Antoine wanted Queen Elizabeth to marry his brother. Not to mention that Lord Robert Dudley was already married to another woman. The scandal would be huge if England learned of their relationship. She had no intention of mentioning her knowledge to Queen Elizabeth of course. When the queen was threatened, she tended to react swiftly and harshly. She liked living and had no intention of getting her head cut off.
"It is just something about his eyes." Sansa said before taking one of the strawberries on the table.
"Anyway, I will go and see what has brought Lord Dudley to court." Elizabeth said. He had taken a leave from because his wife was having troubles back home. The woman was known to have periods of madness from time to time. She hated it but if anything happened it would cause the nobles to talk. They were already suspicious of their relationship. She walked through the castle into her solar and took a seat. She waited for Lord Dudley to be sent in hoping if he was back, it was for good.
"Queen Elizabeth." Lord Robert Dudley said bowing before her.
"How have you been Lord Dudley?" Elizabeth asked while gesturing for her guards to close the doors.
"I have missed you so much." Robert said once they were alone.
"You should not have left." Elizabeth said as she walked up from the table and met him in a hug.
"I wish I was coming with good news Elizabeth." Robert Dudley said.
"What do you mean?" Queen Elizabeth asked.
"On my way here, I found a letter placed in my jacket pocket. I was going to rip it up after I read the contents, but I was hit with this ringing headache and the grass in front of me lit on fire." Robert began.
"The sorcerer." Queen Elizabeth I said wondering what sort of threat he was making.
"Yes, and the fire went to form letters. He wanted me to give you the letter." Robert finished.

"Her life is not going to end happily." Elizabeth Woodsville said to her daughter Elizabeth of York.
"Have you come to taunt me again mother?" Elizabeth of York asked as she watched her grandchild kiss the man that she was in love with. Ever since she died and appeared on the Other Side she had been watching over her family. She could see what they were doing and hear what they were saying but not matter how she tried they could not notice her. Not unless she had many of her fellow witches help and chant with her.
"Do you deserve any other punishment for your sins? You who executed her own brother and cousin?" Elizabeth Woodsville asked feeling the same hatred she had felt when she had been alive. Her daughter had betrayed the family over and over. Her son had been buried in an unmarked grave because of Elizabeth.
"If you just wish to taunt me, we can continue our tradition of ignoring each other for the rest of eternity." Elizabeth of York said. "The two of us have not seen eye to eye since Arthur was born. You have never accepted the fact that the Plantagenet dynasty was over. That the York cause was lost. Grandmother understood that you had to accept that times could change."
"Just think of all the people that died because of your son Henry." Elizabeth Woodsville said. As if it was not enough that Margaret Beaufort had killed her son Edward, that Elizabeth had killed her son Richard and nephew Teddy, her second child Henry continued the tradition and had ordered the death of her niece Maggie. Because Maggie was not a witch nor held the trait, she passed on to the true afterlife wherever that was. So many people lost their lives because of Tudor tyranny. Her second son Henry had hurt countless people because they would not give him what he wanted.
"Do you think I do not feel pain for them?" Elizabeth of York said. "I lost my first son a few weeks after his marriage, my daughter Mary died alone without her husband even noticing, and the Tudor dynasty will end with Elizabeth."
"So, you still remember the vision granted to you when Henry and Catherine got engaged?" Elizabeth Woodsville asked.
"I wish that my husband had listened to my warning. It was obvious that Catherine slept with Arthur." Elizabeth of York said.
"It was your actions that brought this about. You who decided to ignore the curse we cast on the family that killed Edward and Richard." Elizabeth Woodsville said. Back when they were both alive, they had cast a spell to curse the line of whoever killed her sons that had been locked in the tower when Richard seized the crown from his nephews. It was irony that the killers would be Elizabeth and her mother-in-law cursing that family twice over.
"I beg of you. We could end the curse right now." Elizabeth of York pleaded to her mother. "We cast the spell together and together we could break it. Before her granddaughter Elizabeth was killed. She had suffered so much already."
"I will do no such thing. I want the Tudor dynasty to end. They came to power through murder and through murder is how they will meet their end." Elizabeth Woodsville said. Whether she was alive or dead she was a York and would never forgive what the Tudors had done.
'I can't let it end this way.' Elizabeth of York thought to herself before noticing the silvery bird that was watching Elizabeth and Lord Dudley. 'Just maybe it and its master could be the answer that she was looking for. He had performed favors for witches existing on the Other Side before. Perhaps he would not mind doing another.'

"What do you want?" Mynar asked as the door to his new home was opened by the white-haired man that had captured him and his fellow Medjai in Egypt.
"I have questions that I want answered." King Daniel said as he stepped inside the house and took a seat at his table.
"What kind of question?" Mynar asked. He could now run faster than most men could blink but he knew that he stood no chance against this man.
"Some ancient evil is rising up from Egypt and I would like to know about it." King Daniel said.
"That explained next to nothing. There were countless evils that the Medjai have contained to protect the world from. It was like asking to pick a grain of sand up from the desert." Mynar said.
"Can you be more specific?" King Daniel asked the air. He could not see anything but that did not mean that no one was there. Given the way his captor was nodding it sounded like he was listening to someone talking to him. Then his captor turned to him "Alright. I want you to tell me what you know about Imhotep?" His captor's question caused his blood to run cold.
"That is a complicated story." Mynar said and he brought his arms to his table and covered his face wishing he had some ale to drink. It was one of the most famous chapters in ancient Medjai history. They worked so hard to prevent his rise. Over two thousand years they had watched over Imhotep's coffin to make sure he never threatened the world again.
"I have some time." King Daniel said focusing on him.
"Very well." Mynar said.
"Who is Imhotep?" King Daniel asked him.
"This tale happened almost three thousand years ago." Mynar said.
Imhotep had been a priest of Osiris that served Seti I. He had been involved in an affair with the imperial concubine Anck-Su-Namun. The two of them conspired and murdered Seti I. They did not know that princess Nefertiri was watching them and had alerted the palace guards. When caught Anck-Su-Namun committed suicide preventing torture and interrogation on her about her lover and their murder of Seti I.
Imhotep did not make that choice and would suffer for it. He thought he had gotten away with the crime. He and the other priests had been charged with performing the correct spells on Anck-Su-Namun's corpse to make sure that her soul was sent to the underworld for torment and punishment. Her body was to be buried in Hamunaptra. Imhotep after killing the slaves and soldiers to keep the city's location a secret went back under the cover of night with his priests and stole her body. He had been planning to bring her back using the forbidden Book of the Dead. It was a dangerous book of spells written by the ancient priest Aknadin.
Imhotep did not know that the Medjai were following him. Before the spell was complete the Medjai captured him and his priests. The priests were sentenced to be mummified alive, but Imhotep was punished even worse. Imhotep was given the Hom Dai. It was a legendary curse that was rarely given. His tongue was cut out, he was bound tight in wrappings, and as he was placed inside a sarcophagus, carnivorous scarab beetles were poured onto his body, which would feed on his body over many years. His sarcophagus was buried at the feet of a statue of Anubis. From that day forward the Medjai have been tasked with guarding the city. For if Imhotep were to ever be freed from his coffin it would be the end of all mankind. He would have the powers of the Ten Plagues of Egypt. No mortal weapons could harm him. He would be a monster worse than any already in the world. The only way to kill him would be with the Golden Book of Amun-Ra written by the witch Mahad. The location of the book however was something known only to the chief, and he had just recently gotten his tattoos and joined the order.
"Where would I find this chief of yours. I doubt that all of you live in the same village." King Daniel said.
"You are asking me to betray my people." Mynar said. So far all he had done was tell an ancient story. This was something else entirely.
"If you do not help me the world will be engulfed in sand, and everyone will be dead anyway so what does it matter?" King Daniel asked.
"What you are asking is not so easy." Mynar said.
"Think about it this way. Tell me what I want to know, or I will release my werewolves to hunt you on a full moon. You will know what it feels like to suffer a werewolf bite and I promise it will not be pleasant." King Daniel threatened him.

"Now what are you going to do?" Qetsiyah asked Danny as she floated next to him. He was sitting atop of his ship that was set near the edge of the village and looking at his villagers.
"I think it is rather obvious. I plan on traveling to Hamunaptra to steal the Book of Amun-Ra. I want you to work your spirits and find the thieves and the Book of the Dead. I want to hold both of them by the time this is over." Danny said. "From what Mynar had told us Imhotep is still in the process of rebuilding himself. Currently he is just skin, and bones held up by ancient magic. To gain all the power the Hom Dai promised he would need the organs from the thieves that had awoken him."
"Hello King Daniel." Elizabeth of York said as she stood before them.
"Who are you?" Danny asked.
There was over a millennium of knowledge she had gifted him. It was no surprise that he had no idea who this was.
"A witch in need of a favor." Elizabeth of York said.
He was looking at Elizabeth and so he missed the scowl that was on her face. She was not fond of women Like Elizabeth of York or men like Imhotep. Those that betrayed those who trusted them, who got involved with people that already belonged to someone else. They reminded her too much of Amara. Even after all this time she had not gotten over her betrayal. She doubted that she ever would, but she took peace in knowing that her torment would never end. Another bonus would be that she would no longer have to watch as the Petrova and Salvatore doppelgangers met and fell in love. She had broken their love for all of time.
