Legendary Heroes of Townsville
(Summary so far: Katrina's family was invited over the Utoniums' residence for a little family meet-up (if that's even a thing), it was when Katrina got curious about the girls' combat readiness that they showed her the Training Room; which is/does exactly what you think it is/does. Since the recent Chemical SX dose gave the girls a permanent immunity to the 'Stoning Curse', HIM has given Abysmal a 'secret weapon', which will overpower that immunity... or... maybe it does something else? Well I did say maybe!)
Chapter 10
(In HIM's lair)
"I'll give them a day before my arrival... Abysmal?" The minion came over to that who has summoned him. "Send them... a message..." Abysmal nodded, his black and white wings spread out from his backside; then he warped away-
(In Townsville)
-onto a rooftop, where he could get a clear view of the girls doing their daily robotic cleanout in the city. If you honestly thought they'd have any trouble with this battle in general... you're sorely mistaken, they seem to be handling it nicely. A few explosions ruined a few buildings here and there, but all was well in the city of Townsville. They were just finishing off the last of the robots right now.
"Nice day for a good workout right girls?" Buttercup joked.
"Although I wish you'd be a little more serious about winning, I'd be lying if I didn't agree." Blossom agreed (though she hated every moment of it).
While they searched over for any other robots that could probably be in hiding, Bubbles was looking elsewhere, she wanted to alert her sisters to the presence of a character she saw up on a building. "Hey..." She turned away for literally two seconds and whatever she saw was gone... "Oh..."
"What was going on Bubbles?" Blossom asked.
"Nevermind..." She turned around again, and like one of those cliché scenes from a horror movies, Abysmal was right in front of her. "WAH!"
"ABYSMAL!" Everyone shouted.
Abysmal wasn't willing to fight as of right now; instead, he held out his arm and from a black flame, a note appeared. He handed it to Blossom and he disappeared in a harsh light.
"Was there a reason for that?" Buttercup asked.
"I guess so. I thought HIM preferred to arrive in front of us to threaten us, not send his 'cutest' delivery boy." Blossom unfolded the paper and began reading off it.
It read: "Hello Powerpuff Girls~. You clearly think it's strange I'm doing this, but I proceeded to do so because would rather have someone else who's capable to tell me. Well... that... and my claws continued to cut up the paper I've previously used... Anyways that's off-topic. You've merely a DAY left; you hear me? A DAY! And when it comes I'll be waiting for us to have our little face-off. So... I suggest you prepare yourselves for when that day comes, or your lives and city are as GOOD as GONE! Hope to see you soon~! ~HIM."
"Man... we really have that much time left? We better hop to it!" Buttercup said.
"Agreed. Girls let's fly home, and head to the Training Room as ASAP as possible!" Blossom said; receiving weird looks from her sisters. "What?"
"As ASAP as possible?"
"I'M SORRY, I MAKE MISTAKES WHEN I'M ON EDGE! C'MON!" Blossom shot off into the sky and flew home, her sisters followed shorty after. "Alright... we'll do as much as we can, and then we head to bed when it gets late, capeesh?"
"Entendido." Bubbles said. (A/N: That translates into 'Understood' from Spanish).
"I'm gonna assume you got it. Now let's roll! Professor? Can you please turn on 'The Intensifier'?" Blossom asked him (A/N: Read: 'Nothing Ventured, Nothing Trained' for more info on where I got this idea).
"Alright... I'm glad that I remembered we managed to fix up all the issues way back when..." By pressing a button marked 'Intensifier', the Training Room in the background shifted into a different design as it started up Level: 1.
(Meanwhile, over at Katrina's home...)
Katrina was just minding her own business out in the back, when suddenly the area became an unsettling shade of red. HIM was back for more petty threats to the human who stands in his way of success.
"You know... I must say... I'm amazed by how you haven't given up at the sight of my appearances. Clearly I had guessed wrong when I assumed you weren't brave to face me for even a mere nanosecond. Tell me~. What exactly is it that doesn't make you fear me like the others~?"
Katrina wasn't gonna say anything; she feared by saying even one word, HIM would somehow exploit that. She remained silent...
"C'mon~... why can't you share your darkest of thoughts? It's not like I can read your mind or anything; I can't~."
This alone made her skeptical, but she answered to his question nonetheless. "I'm not scared of much... during my fifth ever Halloween, some of my friends tried scaring me with a few jumpscare tactics, and for some reason... I didn't really have that much of a reaction. I was scared, but you physically couldn't tell; I'm able to hide that."
"I've never seen such resilience to such childish games... Nevertheless, I'm rather impressed... even if you were merely four at the time~."
"Apart from the compliment there HIM, the Powerpuff Girls won't let you defeat them once more!"
"Weren't you ever told it's wrong to assume? Even for such a nice little girl... you're awfully rude too! Shall I give you the 'Stoning Treatment' once more..? This time, it'll be completely REAL!" Abysmal appeared on the devilish fellow's side, and unsheathed his Hollow Axe as a means of a threat. "Shall you try to fight back with words once more? I'll make sure no one can find you once you've been turned into a statue..."
"It's better me than them." She said with the bravest of tones; almost braver than that of Blossom even!
"Then. Have. Fun. SLEEPING!" Abysmal dashed at her and slashed his axe. Katrina felt no impact but her body was slowly losing all feeling from the lower half up. "Quite sad to see your story end so soon. Now you're mine..." HIM took his victim in his arms, and teleported away... Oh boy... this will not bode well...
(Back at the Utoniums')
"*Heavy Panting*" The girls were fighting a humongous dragon (emphasis on were), as it toppled down to the ground underneath it, it caused the area to tremble.
"Thank goodness we got that one over with..." Buttercup said; relieved as ever.
"Yeesh... you think despite the high level, they'd take it easy..." Bubbles said.
"They'll never, they're just simulations, remember that when we're not 'out there'. Blossom reminded her. "Hey Professor! Is it gonna continue!?"
"Actually, I think you bypassed level 14 and ended the regiment! You can come out now!" The door to the side opened and the girls exited. "You did well, now if you'll excuse me, I heard knocking on the door." The Professor left in no hurry to answer whoever may be at the door right now. When he reached it and opened it, he was surprised to see Katrina's parents in the most worried condition ever. "Woah... what's wrong you two?"
"It's Katrina! She's gone missing!" Mrs. Melinski said.
"WHAT!?" Everyone else (not counting the other parents) yelled in surprise.
"AAAGH! That SON OF A DEVIL! I swear... he'll pay for kidnapping your daughter! We'll do everything, (and she really means everything when she says that), to get back Katrina!" Buttercup said angrily.
"Woah, woah, woah, hey Buttercup. Keep your temper down..." The Professor said to try and have Buttercup keep calm; this just made her even more furious.
"I. Will. NOT. KEEP. MY. TEMPER. DOWN! If NO ONE ELSE IS GONNA HELP ME SAVE KATRINA FROM THAT... ugh... I can't say it... BUT YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN! I'M OUTTA HERE!" Without hesitation she struck through the ceiling.
"BUTTERCUP!" Her sisters yelled out, they then gave chase.
Buttercup was about halfway into the city of Townsville until she stopped in her tracks; from behind her, her sisters stopped as well. Buttercup started to shout angrily. "HIM!? HIM! SHOW YOURSELF YOU ROTTEN MONSTER! I KNOW YOU CAN HEAR ME FROM WHEREVER YOU ARE! YOU DON'T SCARE ME!"
To not answer her call would've simply been amusing to the guy; but he arrived to see what all the fuss was about (A/N: Wow... that is a phrase I never thought I'd use). "Let me guess; you're looking for her?"
"You know exactly why I'm here! WHERE. IS. KATRINA!?" She demanded to know. I swear if you don't tell me... I'll TEAR OFF YOUR LIMBS AND HIT YOU WITH THEM!" Yeesh... you know she's angry once she starts giving you death threats...
"Aww... what's wrong~? Can't handle not seeing your friend for more than a day? How very sad... having a heart clouded with such dark mannerisms... you'd probably do well as a villain..." He said in a taunting tone.
"Don't patronize me you idiot! GIVE. HER. BACK. NOW!"
"Fine... you win. And I was just having so much fun having a new decoration in my place. Really makes all the walls cower in fear from her beauty." He held out his claws and in between them, a statuefied Katrina appeared. "Since you want her so badly... TAKE HER!" He smacks Buttercup really hard with her; the curse is so strong the stone doesn't even break or chip. "Ohohohohoho~! Surely you weren't expecting me to give her up THAT easily! You're way too easy to manipulate these days..." Of all the traitorous moments; that has to be your worst! "I try~!"
"Uh-oh... Should we intervene now?" Bubbles asked.
"It'd best to do that now... yeah." Blossom agreed; then she and Bubbles flew over to where Buttercup was flying, and decided to negotiate with the 'higher-up'. "Look... we really didn't want her going off on you like that, we're still trying to save our strength for when the time actually comes, so if you could just please let Katrina go?" Blossom asked.
"Hmm... alright. Since you asked nicely..." HIM dropped the statuefied girl to the ground. "You should really keep your sister on a leash however... ohohohohoho~! See you tomorrow!" HIM then disappeared in a cloud of hot pink mist.
"Well... that's one of three problems solved..."
"What's the third problem?" Her sister points down at the one currently struggling to get up. "Oh..."
(Back at their home...)
While Blossom was pouring the Chem. SX onto Katrina, Buttercup was being scolded.
"You should really know better than to just bolt off like that! You don't make only me worry you know! Katrina's parents were scared when you shot off like that! *Sigh* but, I understand you were just angry, and it's fine to be angry, but only as long as you're able to control that anger."
There were small tears forming in her eyes, meaning she eventually saw her errors. "I know... I'm sorry... from the bottom of my heart... really... I didn't choose to be like this though; it's just how I was created. Y'know... the 'rough n' tough fighter', the one who always tries to assert their strength when necessary..."
"We all sometimes wish we were never born the way we were born. I, however, have grown out of that phase a long time ago." He pulled in Buttercup for a gentle hug. "I'm sure you will too." She was crying by this point.
"Hey don't feel too glum Buttercup. I know you really wanted to rescue me that badly and I can respect that. But he's right, even the toughest of fighters need support." Katrina told her.
"We hope you understand we're not trying to stop you. We also want to help." Bubbles told her.
"As long as you're willing to give your sisters, us, a chance; we're willing to help you regardless of the problem in any situation. Now come on! It's not a group hug without the family!" Blossom said as she and Bubbles came in for their hug as well.
"*Sniff, sniff* You guys are the best. I know I don't say it much, but you really are..."
"We know..." They all said.
(Nighttime)
"Sweet dreams my little ones..." He shut off the light in their room and shut the door. "I wonder how all will be when they fight tomorrow... oh I just hope they're careful!"
