Legendary Heroes of Townsville
(Summary so far: The final battle has begun... the battle to end all battles... the battle that shall determine the fate of our beloved city of Townsville... the girls had everything under control for a while, but were ultimately taken down by some intense blows. After a quick invasion into the mind of Blossom, HIM was expelled and the girls have finally got their act together. They felt ready... no, they WERE ready... ready to win this for their friends and family.)
Chapter 12
"For too long have we had to deal with you and your tricks HIM! Time to show you that the villains always lose!" Blossom yelled.
"It is truly... sad to hear that... after all, you're no better than us; we may be on opposite sides... but in reality, we're both playing the same game." HIM told her.
"As if! There's no way we'd want to keep the world for ourselves!" Buttercup said to counter HIM's statement.
"I don't believe you caught on... very well... allow me to demonstrate..." HIM had gotten close to Abysmal and held him close; eventually, a black light consumed the two of them, and a silhouette in the shape of a monster appeared before the heroes. HIM had fused with Abysmal to create a monster with four long arms that had crustaceous claws at the end. The body was a bright red on one side, and deep red on the other; torn wings extended out from its backside, and its feet were large and had talons. The face was shaped like that of HIM, but with eyes similar to Abysmal's; and it's body had the fleece scarfs and green star on a black shirt. It's name was VOID.
"Seeing as how we are now one... I don't believe you still think you can defeat us huh?" Void asked in a menacing manner.
The girls looked around for Abysmal's axe to see if he had by any chance left it behind during the fusion, however upon closer inspection, it was lodged in Void's chest.
"I once again implore you to give up now..."
"No chance... if we fail... then so be it..." Blossom said.
"Yeah! We're superheroes; and our job is to save the world! Especially from monsters like you!" Bubbles added.
"Bubbles..."
"I'm with them! Any day! Any time! There's nothing I like more than beating down on a villain to show them just how dumb they think they are if they can top our strength!" Buttercup added.
"Buttercup..."
"I take it you would rather watch yourselves die as the very ground you stand on burns? I always knew you'd be this persistent... very well... if that's the case... SO BE IT!" An extra set of smaller wings extended outwards along with the bigger ones.
"If they don't want to give up... then... I won't give in either! Let's end this once and for all girls!" Blossom said.
"Yeah!"
Then the real battle began. Void fired many different energy spheres that homed in on the girls and exploded once they were near; it was a practical swig of good luck that prevented the girls from getting hurt. Two sisters attempted to fire their lasers at the beast but couldn't actually damage it. Void shot his arms upwards and nearly struck Buttercup and Bubbles out of the sky; they dodged swiftly, then dodged the two other claws that came up, and then distanced themselves. The girls from several feet away charged up the Starburst Ray, and fired it. Void had countered this with a much stronger ray that pushed theirs' back. Void's ray got closer and closer until the girls abandoned ship and watched as a building in the distance was absolutely decimated by the ray of evil energy. They cringed at that sight, being grateful that it wasn't them that were on the receiving end. Looking back at their target, they shot forward totally regardless of whatever their enemy was capable of. Void shot three huge orbs and the girls dove underneath them, avoiding them completely; they gathered up and flew towards the chest of their enemy even quicker than usual. Once they got close enough, a slimmer of false hope had them think they'd be able to remove the axe no problem. Unfortunately they were shot backwards when the arms unexpectedly smacked them away.
"I told you... IT'S NO USE! I CANNOT be STOPPED!" Void reminded them.
"Shoot... those arms are in the way. If we want to get to that chest, we need to remove or restrain their arms." Blossom said.
"We're on it." Her sisters said.
"Have them come at you and try to grab them both. Either hold onto them or pull on them, I'll try to grab the Hollow Axe."
Her sisters nodded and proceeded to do so. On the right side Buttercup managed to grab on arm, and then the other; but at that moment this was gonna be harder than she thought. "It's just like riding the backside of a bull!" On Bubbles' end, she too was having a dilemma, but managed to hold on.
Once Blossom went in for the axe, Void fired intense beams of energy at her location. She dodged each one and managed to grab the hilt of the axe. "As they say... this is the way... the cookie... crumbles!" The axe was removed and Blossom flew backwards, she attempted to snap the axe in half.
"NO! DON'T YOU DARE! YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'LL BE IN FOR!" Void warned Blossom.
"Too bad..." Blossom snapped or her knee, and before she knew it, Void was jittering intensely and started to unfuse back into HIM and Abysmal. Once they did unfuse, they were stuck on the ground in a weakened state. Since Abysmal's only weakness was his very own weapon, Blossom flew at Abysmal and slashed at him with his own Hollow Axe. The axe was then gone from her person, instantly burning out into ash. Abysmal was walking menacingly slowly towards Blossom; as his lower half started to disappear, he was getting close. His body and right arm disappeared as he closed in. Once he fully disappeared he just barely managed to touch Blossom's forehead; then he disappeared, forever. "Finally... our greatest fear... vanquished..." Blossom sat down feeling weakened as well.
"I can't believe we defeated Abysmal!" Bubbles happily shouted.
"Yeah! He was strong, but we sure proved we were better than him!" Buttercup added.
HIM just barely managed to get his head off the ground; holding himself up with his arms, he still managed to speak. "Ugh... no... no I can't believe I've actually lost to the likes of you! How can this be!?"
"Maybe it's because you truly underestimated the power of a Powerpuff girl. You see HIM, the future may not always explain the truth; sometimes, it may just show you what you want to see. I may not know this for sure, but I believe that is why we still won." Blossom explained.
"Either that... or you just thought you could actually get away with this. Which you couldn't!" Buttercup taunted.
"It seems that way... you truly have bested me... Maybe where I first went wrong was trying to even go against you... I cannot truly change... as I am the Ultimate Evil... but maybe there's a chance none of this will ever happen again..." HIM said, sounding like he was still faking it. "Know what? No... I shall NOT put up with this! If I am to go down, then I'll make sure I take the three of you with me!" HIM then transformed his figure into a bomb and attached itself to Blossom's 'wrist' almost instantly. "AHAHAHAHA! There's no way you can get out of this one! Only one minute till the city you love is nothing but a burning memory! Goodbye Powerpuff Girls!" HIM said.
"Uh-oh..." Blossom attempted to remove the bomb, but it wouldn't even budge at all...
"Oh no!" Bubbles said. "What're we gonna do!? All of Townsville's gonna be destroyed by that thing! We're gonna be erased along with so many of our new friends and family!"
Blossom looked down at her wrist, which still said forty seconds were remaining. Then she looked up towards the sky; then back at her sisters.
"Blossom no. Don't do what I think you're gonna do!" Buttercup said. Blossom said nothing and approached her, handing her bow to Buttercup, who was beginning to well up with tears. Bubbles, who noticed this, ended up doing the same. "Blossom... No..." She tried.
It took a moment but Blossom finally said: "Take care... sister..." She turned around and walked away. "Don't follow me..." Blossom then skyrocketed upwards, and shot up into space.
Bubbles was about to fly after her, but Buttercup had told her to listen to Blossom's orders. "We're gonna miss you Blossom!" Bubbles said through tears.
"Same here..." Buttercup said.
(Show Blossom flying as Buttercup's voice is heard)
"Blossom... you were great leader... and an even better sister. I'll make sure no one forgets the action you performed trying to keep this city safe... I'll even take over as leader if that's what you want... though, I guess it's silly now that I think about it. Now that we've officially ended all evil, I don't think there's a reason for us superheroes to fight anymore. But that doesn't matter, everything we do now, we'll be doing it for you... I'll miss you... Blossom..." As Blossom stopped in her current position, a very great distance far from the Earth where the blast certainly will not hit the planet at all, she shed a tear... that tear froze up immediately. The countdown hit one and...
The explosion engulfed her and nothing more, she was in the center of something no one would be able to survive. After several minutes, the huge white light stopped expanding, and disappeared.
(Back on Earth)
A statue was being built to commemorate the victory of the Powerpuff Girls triumphing over HIM and Abysmal. The two remaining sisters were happy, but the expression said otherwise...
"I know it's hard seeing her go..." Professor Utonium started. "...but I'm sure wherever she is right now... she's happy for the most part." Bubbles nearly lost it and started clinging onto The Professor's legs, sobbing for as long her little shattered heart could possibly let her. "Shh... it's fine..."
"No..." Bubbles said; muffled. "...it's not fine... she's gone..."
"Aww... poor girl..." Ms. Melinski said.
"Such a sad thing to have happen to them; losing one of the more important parts of their family..." Mr. Melinski said.
The Mayor had arrived and apologized for the loss of their sister. "Powerpuff Girls..." He started, to which the others looked up and listened; however Bubbles was still sniffling. "We... the city of Townsville would like to thank you for your greatest heroic deed... the three of you did your best, gave it your all, and won."
"At a cost... Blossom's gone now Mayor..." Buttercup told him; she held up the hairbow she gave to Buttercup.
"And because I'm feeling awfully sorry for your loss... I'll do one thing you wish. One for the both of you!"
All Bubbles wanted to do by this point was ask for Blossom to return, but even then she knew that would be silly and just make her look more depressed than she already is; so she simply asked for a place where she could just have some alone time. "Bubbles, I can take you home now if you want..."
"No... it won't be enough... too many memories..."
"So you wish to simply have a place where you're not reminded of... er... *cough*." He didn't want to press the matter any further. She simply nodded. "I'll have the construction team work on that right away..." He then turned to Buttercup. "And what about you young one?"
Buttercup said something she probably wouldn't really say anywhere else; or at all. " A plush friend... like Bubbles'."
"What animal?" He asked.
"Octopus..." she responded.
"Right... understood. We'll notify you when it's delivered, and when the building is complete." He then left to go speak with the construction team's boss.
"Professor?" Buttercup said; almost sounding sick.
"Yes?"
"Can we go home now?" They both asked.
"Of course we can..."
(Five days later...)
As if by magic or pure coincidence, both requests were finally filled. Buttercup got her new yellow-colored plush, whom of which she named 'Petal', and the building Bubbles was able to calm her nerves in was finished. On the outside, it looked rather small; the inside was painted to look like that of an open field, with flowers and grass, birds and bugs were 'flying' in the air. Bubbles was happy with this; and if she was happy so was her family... Oh but if she were told what's to happen next, she'd be ecstatic.
(Up in space...)
Up in the exact same location of where the explosion took place, a body, completely frozen over, could be found floating. Its right hand was sticking out of the crystal, and the body itself... well... it was barely recognizable from the way the ice looked. The arm didn't seem to have fingers, and what's weirder... is that it started to move. It flexed and stretched, and eventually punched towards where it seems to have originated from. The ice began to crack slightly. It punched the ice again, it cracked even more. Once more and... *SHATTER* the icy prison had completely broke open; and what came out... was the girl who sacrificed herself for the Earth to stay alive.
"Ugh... huh?" She said. "It... it worked?" She was awfully surprised at that too. She tried to move the rest of her (mostly) injured limbs, and succeeded. Most of the dress and tights she wore were gone and she wasn't wearing any shoes. Her hair was messed up in certain areas (the ponytail mostly). "I can't believe I'm alive... I wonder what everyone else will think when they see me... they're probably upset over the fact they still think I'm dead..." Blossom flew around in the empty space of... space; she managed to somehow find her separated hair clip. "How'd that get removed?" She looked back down at the Earth; for some reason, she was picturing her sisters and The Professor mourning over her disappearance. A look of sadness struck her face as she held her arm up close to it; looking away for a moment, she thought to herself: "I'm... I'm going back home... I'm sure they'll understand..." Blossom forced herself to move slightly, removing the remaining numbness; she then started flying in the direction of the Earth; once she got close, as most things do, she was starting to burn up in the atmosphere.
(Back on Earth...)
The Professor was watching the news currently, it was a report on a strange object entering the planet's atmosphere (A/N: Sound familiar? It should, it was literally one paragraph ago). Buttercup just happened to be on the couch with him.
"Nnngh..." She moaned.
"I know... you're thinking of... 'her' aren't you?" He asked.
"Mhm..." She nodded her head.
"Like I said... wherever she is, I'm sure she's happily watching over us..."
The TV newsperson was still speaking: "...and apparently the object entering the Earth at the current moment was identified to be no bigger than four simple twelve-inch shelves stacked on top of each other."
"Hm... that sounds interesting. Whatever it is, if it was that small, it'd be torn up by the atmosphere before it even got below the clouds..." Buttercup's eyes widened. She flew out of the door straight away. "Hm?"
"I'm... just gonna... leave for a quick second. I'll come back."
"Well alright... just be careful." He then went back to watching the video and three seconds after Buttercup had left, the same realization she had had finally dawned on him. "Did she... no... it can't be..."
(With Buttercup)
Bubbles was just exiting the area made for her to calm her nerves, when Buttercup had appeared next to her. "Did you hear about a thing entering the Earth?"
"Yeah... I was thinking it could be..." She didn't get to finish because she saw... 'that'. "Oh... you too?"
"It HAS to be! I swear it is! Let's find out where it's landing!"
Bubbles looked behind her sister and noticed 'said object' coming into view. "Uh..."
"What?" Buttercup had also turned around and noticed it too. "Oh no... it's coming this way..." And fast she might as well add. "Bubbles move out of the way!" She pushed her sister towards the side and the mysterious object smashed into the front of the building. "Oh man... the place got wrecked..."
The two girls entered and what they saw shocked them both. Whatever crashed through came through digging up the ground, and ended halfway through the room. They carefully approached the thing and looked down. It was true! It was 'her'! It was... "Blossom?" They both asked.
Two fingerless hands and a head with hair as orange as a sunset had arisen. Two pink eyes looked up towards the two to discover it. "Hi..? Girls..?" Blossom said.
"BLOSSOM!" They said ecstatically.
"We're so glad you're back!" Buttercup said. "And you're... oh..." Seems entering back into the Earth fried off her clothing. Bubbles covered her face with a freaked out expression. "Blossom, please, do us a solid and put this on." She handed her a towel that was somehow in the room.
It wasn't until Blossom looked down that it finally dawned on her. "Why do I... AH! Okay! Give it! Please!" She took the black towel and covered her hide. "Oh... man... that is NOT how I wanted to make a second appearance..."
"I'm just gald to see you're back... it was hard for us to go on without ya." Bubbles admitted.
"Yeah... besides, no one can rock this hairbow better than you sis." She handed her the big red hairbow, and Blossom took it and put it on.
"Thanks for keeping that thing in mint condition." She said.
"Hey... I wouldn't let anything bad happen to that after you went and totally abandoned us."
Blossom suddenly got angry. "Abandoned!? I was doing this for YOUR safety need I remind you! I'm sorry if I had to encase my body in ice to survive! But I was-!"
"Yeesh! Calm down! I was joking! I know you were doing what you had to do! Relax... let's just get you home and into some clothing." A lot of people were waiting outside the building. Buttercup fired her lasers a few inches in front of her. "Hey! Can some sisters not have some people staring for about five minutes?" The sisters then proceeded to take flight. "Actually... now that I think about it... maybe there are some things that require us."
(Two weeks later...)
A bank robbery was occurring, three armed men were shooting Uzi's while another carried some kind of shotgun. They jumped into their getaway car and the driver attempted to get moving, but they couldn't for some reason. "Hey pal! You gonna take your foot off the damn brakes or what!?" One said.
"My foot ain't on the brakes you du-." Suddenly the car lifted itself. "What in blue blazes?" The driver poked his head out the window and saw that the car was ten inches off the ground. Then Buttercup came up and pulled the guy out.
"Don't you know you're supposed to keep your limbs IN the vehicle at all times? Let me show you why." She threw the man down and he saw the other Powerpuff Girls messing with the car.
The roof was the being pulled off by Bubbles, who said: "Sorry guys! Ride's over!"
Blossom then tipped the car upside-down and encased the criminals in ice. "Looks like your plan for riches has been put on 'ice'." She winks.
"Grr... your puns annoy me..." The guy who WAS driving muttered under his breath.
"Here are your baddies Mr. Chief of Police!" Bubbles said.
"Hey thanks girls. You really do wonders for this city eh?" He said.
"No need for the thanks." Buttercup said. There was suddenly an explosion in the distance. "Now... uh... if you'll excuse us..."
"We need to deal with a much 'bigger' threat." Blossom implied. All three sisters flew off in the direction of the chaos.

A/N: Well... this was amazing to write, like I said in Chapter 1, I've had this idea sitting in the back of my mind for a while, and I didn't think I'd enjoy it this much... and this is where the fic truly ends, so I'll end it with this... *ahem* Thanks for reading. Believe it or not, this is probably my second favorite fic I've written. I'm also quite surprised that I don't believe I've seen another fic like this one anywhere else. When I say 'like this one' I mean 'story wise'. Btw I know it's probably pointless, but if you have any questions (not the rude ones) I'll probably answer them.
