Legendary Heroes of Townsville
Pre-reading A/N: This chapter is basically travelling back in time to when HIM created Abysmal and used his power to transform the girls into statues. Everything in this chapter that led up to the main events is explained; hence it will be labeled as 'Chapter 0'.
Chapter 0
You've read the whole thing already? Well... didn't think you'd be this intrigued... I guess we can stay around for one last chapter, but let's make this interesting. You must already know by now of the girls becoming statues and how everyone somehow forgot about their existence, but do you know the full story? Doubt it, everyone explained about half of it... but now that you're here, we can get the full version.
(Setting turns into an earlier Townsville, specifically in 2021)
The city of Townsville... back in 2021. There's not much of a difference from Townsville years later, apart from the people living there being much more familiar to our heroes. This version of Townsville practically had crime going around 24/7, and to counter those constant crimes, were the three Powerpuff Girls themselves. Flying around and saving the city of Townsville before bedtime... they took their career seriously, and are never to misuse their powers. As of this day, the city was being annihilated by a monster.
"Oh boy! Another monster attack? Hm... must be Tuesday." Said the Mayor, a small man who's already balding; all he has to show for it is that white mustache and childish personality.
"Mayor, if you still want to a city to look over, I suggest dialing the girls before things get worse." Said his secretary, Ms. Bellum, whose hair covered the entirety of her face.
"Oh right! Of course! They've handled situations like this, they can take it down!" So he picks up the receiver on a little phone with a smiley face on it.
(Meanwhile... over at Pokey Oaks Kindergarten)
Pokey Oaks Kindergarten, the very place where the girls went to learn and hang out with friends. Under the watchful eye of their teacher Ms. Keane, everyone is always eager to learn from her. Everyone was outside for recess, so once the hotline let off its buzzing sound, Ms. Keane had to go outside to alert the heroes.
"Oh Powerpuff Girls! Hotline!" She yelled.
Three streaks of pink, green, and blue flew into the school to answer the call, then flew out within seconds as if the phone conversation was only five seconds long.
(Central Townsville)
A huge two headed lizard monster was spitting acid over the buildings of the city. It roared, shattering all nearby glass windows.
"Hey string bean!" Called out a voice. The monster's heads looked over in the direction of the trio of superheroes. Strong, small, and brave as can be... they were the Powerpuff Girls! The one rolling their arms was Buttercup, the team's strength. The one waving innocently towards their target was Bubbles, a humanized ray of sunshine. Leading them is Blossom, with a strong sense of justice and great intelligence, the team would probably be lost without her guidance. "Don't'cha know monsters like you aren't welcome to terrorize this city as you please?" Blossom said.
"Yeah! Do you know how long it takes to rebuild those buildings?" Bubbles asked.
"A pretty long while, and if you don't stop... I'm gonna give you a reason to!" Buttercup said as she pounded her 'fists' together.
The monster roared angrily. "Guess he won't listen to reason, oh well! Been wanting to test out our new team plan. Plan Delta Nine girls! Go!"
To explain this wouldn't be as pointless as you think... so let's go! Bubbles and Buttercup flew down towards the monster's feet and bashed them as hard as they could, knocking the lizard off the ground, and onto its back. The heads lifted up and shot off a couple shots of acid blasts; as Blossom flew towards it, she dodged every projectile. Now her part in this was tying together the monster's necks, once the necks were tied together, all three sisters flew up, grabbed the heads, spun the monster around, and threw it so far it landed in Hawaii.
"Don't forget to send us a postcard!" Bubbles joked.
"That'll teach you not to mess with our city!" Buttercup said.
From below them everyone cheered.
"Please everyone, we don't deserve the praise. We're just glad to be helping!" Blossom said. (The scenery changes to a TV screen as Blossom continues speaking). "As long as we're here... Townsville will be safe for days to come!" A brick was thrown at the TV screen the heroes were being viewed on, a brick thrown by none other than the ultimate evil, the prince of darkness, practically the devil himself... HIM.
"Those accursed Powerpuff Girls! I spent all night conjuring up that monster!" He got up and kicked a pebble away from him. "From that stunt Mojo pulled... to now, and they still have yet to give in! I'm running out of ideas that I can barely even come up with in the first place! There must something I haven't tried..." He sat back down in his throne, winded, and with a wave of his left claw removed the brick and repaired the TV screen. "Maybe some quality programming can take my mind off this..." He switched to that one show with the puppet bonking the other one on the head. "Hm... what else have I yet to try?" While the show was running, HIM spun an orb of concentrated darkness in his right claw. "Hm... I've always wondered what happens if this is to be combined with the ultimate light source. *GASP!*" Without so much as another warning, HIM flew up into space towards the brightest and hottest thing in our solar system, the sun. He used his right claw to drain some energy from the sun, and created an orb of concentrated light. Whereas the dark orb was black with a deep purple aura, this was yellow with a white aura. "Finally..." He brought the two orbs together, "A single being that can utilize the power of light and darkness..." it started to form a figure, "... and maybe even overpower me..." A large head formed above the small body, wings sprouted from behind, along with two arms, an axe had also formed. The last addition were short legs. "Hm... that design looks familiar..." Then an explosion occurred, knocking HIM back a little. "Gah! Huh..? Ohohohohoho... It's perfect~."
(Townsville Suburbs)
The Townsville suburbs, close to the city of Townsville, and home to the Powerpuff Girls. They each flew through the three windows of the home and met with their creator/father figure, Professor Utonium.
"Hi Professor!" Blossom and Bubbles said in unison.
"Hey Professor!" Buttercup said a little late.
"Well hello again girls, you look like you had quite the fun day." The tall man in a white lab coat said.
"Oh you bet we did! This monster thought he was gonna mess us up! But we bashed that thing out of the city, and out of this state!"
"Sounds like one of your usual trademark adventures, well dinner will be ready a few minutes from now, so why not play for a while to get your mind off fighting?" He said as he left.
"Might as well. Today felt draining..." Bubbles admitted.
"What are you kidding?" Buttercup said as she was punching a bag. "I've never felt more energized!"
"Well not everyone can feel the way you do Buttercup." Blossom argued.
"I'll just take that as a compliment."
(Outside view)
The sky turns an eerie red as everyone below is minding their own business. They look up to the sky and see the clouds form a face of pure evil... "Hello city of Townsville's citizens~... I know I'm showing up unneeded and unannounced... but I have something I'd like to show to you all~!" A portal opened up and a set of black and white wings emerged; they opened to reveal a figure with a black and white body color (one color on each side), their aura reeked of menacing, they had one curled hairpiece, belts all around their feet, and a single axe with several empty spaces in it; on their chest lays a single four-pointed green star. "Say hello to the newest challenge that will surely pose a threat to the heroes called the Powerpuff Girls! ABYSMAL!" Abysmal's wings spread open and he pointed his axe towards the sky, both in fast manners. As HIM came floating down, he said: "Demonstrate your power~." and Abysmal flew towards a citizen in the blink of an eye. He slashed his axe at them, they didn't get sliced, but they did start turning to stone; with another slash, the statue who was once a person shattered to pieces and crumbled to dust. "If anyone is to dare challenge him... his treatment will soon be yours as well..."
(From the Mayor's view at City Hall)
"Oh my... I need to get to them again..." He was reaching for the hotline when HIM and Abysmal stopped him. "AGH!"
"Now you weren't exactly planning on phoning those three were you? Tell you what... I'll let you... but you won't be living afterwards..."
"*gulp* O... Okay..." He picked up the phone and from the other end, the only thing the girls heard was distressed shouting. "YOU GOTTA HELP US!"
"What's happening!?" Blossom said.
"Just get to City Hall! I don't got much time!" With no knowledge of what they were soon to be up against, the superhuman trio flew off towards city hall, looking over the damage done to the city in literally a matter of one minute.
"Woah..." Buttercup said.
"What or who did this?" Blossom asked. "Guess we'll find out soon enough..." They crashed through the window of City Hall. "What's happen... ning?" Once they made it, nothing was visible, except for a statue of the Mayor.
"Hey... when was that here?"
"I'm... not sure... Maybe its newly built?" But after closer examination, she realized it wasn't what she thought it was. "Wait... Girls! This isn't a statue! It's the Mayor!"
"WHAT!?" They both asked.
"How is that even possible!?" Bubbles asked. "We don't know any villains that have that power!"
As the trio looked out the shattered window, they were horrified. Seeing a black and white light flying around quick and destroying several buildings in the city in a matter of seconds. "Whoever it is... they aren't messing around. We gotta stop them..."
And so they each flew off into the chaos-filled city.
(Ruined Townsville)
The girls landed in a clearing that's shaped a perfect arena for battle...
"What happened here..? Who did this?" Blossom asked.
"Hehehehehe~ Wouldn't you like to know?" HIM appeared from a puff of pink mist. "Hello girls~!"
"HIM!"
"So... you're wondering why it looks like your beloved city has gone to the dumps? Well... I had a bit of an interesting idea earlier today..."
"Save it you giant red creepazoid! Just tell us what's going on!" Just then, Buttercup was attacked by a flying black orb! She was sent backwards. "Agh! What was that!?"
"That my little annoying flea... was what I was getting too... Come on down~!" From atop a torn-up building, Abysmal flew up into the sky and dove down extremely fast, landing on his feet and single hand; the girls already felt intimidated, except for Buttercup, who wasn't (well she was actually pretending...). "Behold! I've created using the greatest source of light, and my dark power! I've named him Abysmal... and he will be your demise!"
"Don't count your chicken before they hatch HIM! This battle hasn't even started!" Blossom said.
"Oh really? Well... it has now!" HIM snapped his claws and Abysmal's black and white eyes lit up. He flew forward at a blinding speed, catching the sisters off-guard; when he held his Hollow Axe up, they flew out of the way quickly.
"Ha! Huh!?" Bubbles was surprised when she saw the axe didn't get stuck in the ground, it didn't even leave any hints that it hit the ground. "Did he even swing? I swear it hit the ground just now!" Abysmal's eyes closed and he held his Hollow Axe close, he started to shift violently, and soon... split into two! One completely black, the other completely white. "AH! There's two now!"
"This is getting out of hand... we need to do something!" Blossom said. "We're doing the Starburst ray! Let's wait until they're together!" Her sisters nodded and flew up to her, the Abysmal twins flew towards them, and held their axes close. The girls held their arms close together and fired a huge laser, as did the twins. "WHAT!?" Although three is better than two, Abysmal is much stronger than the Powerpuff Girls' strength combined, so their laser had no problem overpowering the Starburst Ray. "Break! Now!" They broke away from their position before the laser could reach them, and fled in opposite directions.
Buttercup took sharp turns around the ruins of specific buildings, all the while being chased by Black Abysmal. "You gotta be kidding me..." She fired a laser blast and he deflected it to another building, causing an explosion. Buttercup then stopped in midair and dashed towards him, he held out a hand and stopped her in her tracks. "Huh?" This was Abysmal's strength, so he had no trouble dragging her through the ground. As he continued he brought out his Hollow Axe, and swung. *SHING!*
With Bubbles she was being hunted down by the much more agile White Abysmal. Who was also firing quick energy blasts from his unoccupied hand. Bubbles dodged at least seven, but was struck down by the last one; she was suddenly sent barreling out of the sky. "Ow... He's really strong..." White Abysmal landed down in front of the fallen hero and restrained her with chains of pure light. "AGH! Let me go!" He instead brought out his axe and swung it. *SHING!*
Blossom and HIM were duking it out, and Blossom had easily overpowered him. "Face it HIM... you've tried for too long, and you won't win... Not now, not ever... Never!"
"Ohohohohoho~... Never say never..." Both Abysmals came back with a 'statuefied' Bubbles and Buttercup; they then dropped them on the ground and recombined. "I've already won..."
"I knew you were evil... but I didn't think you were a coward! You're always getting others to fight your battles... why don't you fight back for once?"
"You wish to know why I don't?" HIM said with unbroken seriousness; he then teleported behind Blossom and smacked her down with one claw. "It's simple really..." He teleported and landed on her with his arm, "It's all because..." then fired a beam from his mouth and knocked her out cold. "I'm much stronger than you..." Abysmal, standing over Blossom, raised the axe high,
"I'm... sorry..."
and brought it down *SHING!* A huge white flash enveloped the puff, and she was turned to a stone statue.
"Yes... YES! You've done well! These three are officially no more... due to your strength! Now Townsville is ours for the taking!" HIM felt this odd pain however, as did Abysmal. "Argh... too much power... used up... Nevertheless... I shall leave them with this!" HIM fired off a huge wave of energy and warped away. That wave of energy crawled across the entirety of Townsville, affecting everyone! Everyone except the Professor and Mojo oddly enough (except Mojo's not part of this chapter so pretend I didn't say his name).
(Utoniums' Residence)
"What was that?" Professor Utonium said. Suddenly he was worried; something like that must've meant something bad happened... "Oh no... Girls!" He jumped into his car and drove off towards the chaos-filled city.
(Ruined Townsville)
When he got to the arena, where the girls fought the villains, he looked out and saw them, as statues. "Oh no... they've turned to stone... I gotta find some way to cure this curse!" So he piled his daughters on top his vehicle, and drove off back home to the lab.
(Utoniums' Lab)
"Alright... let me see here..." He removed a small grain of rock from Blossom's statue and dropped into Chemical X. The result was exactly as he intended. "Yes... it's changing! Now if I pour this on one of them... it should bring them out..." He tested it by pouring a slight amount on Blossom. The statue glowed and Blossom's physical form started gaining color.
"Woah! Ugh!" Blossom had became free. "Woah... I can't believe what happened..."
"I can't believe it either..."
"Professor? Then... does that mean?"
"Yes, you're back home... unfortunately you won't be like this for long... the effects are meant to wear off in about ten minutes from now... I'm still working on a way to have it dispel the lingering curse..."
Lingering? So is he saying that she might become a statue again? "Wait... so it's not gone!?"
"No, but like I said, I'm working on that..." *Mass rumbling* "Ah... it's done."
"What is?" The two took a look outside, and noticed a huge mountain terraformed out beyond the suburbs. "What!?"
"Once you go back into statue form, I'll have your bodies relocated there... you'll be much safer."
"But what'll happen then? I don't wanna go back to that!"
"You'll be fine. If I need something, I still have the test antidote; trust me on this. Now help me carry your sisters there."
Blossom was genuinely scared, but she was willing to go along with it if it meant Bubbles and Buttercup will be safely preserved along with her. "Alright..."
(About seven minutes later)
"Alright... the effects should be taking place again soon, so stay on this pedestal here. I'm sure I'll find some way to help you three..."
She hopped up on and said: "Yeah... I hope so too..." Just as she finished speaking, her body transformed again into her featureless stone statue form.
"I'll get you out of that... even if it requires the ridiculous use of tape recorders and messages. But if I wanna outlast it... I'm gonna have to remain frozen in this tube." He set a timer for it to thaw out, and stepped in. "Remember... I'm doing this for you... girls..."
Must've not been what you were expecting right? But that's how the full thing went. Oh such a sad story... The girls become statues, everyone forgot about the girls, and several years later they would once again be remembered and save Townsville from HIM and Abysmal... One story ends and another begins...
