Chapter Twenty-Seven: Stealing Some Eggs
(Highgarden, Westeros)
"How do you feel?" Danny asked looking at the vampire while trying to see if anything was wrong. He was wearing his environmental suit in case the vampire burst into flames or exploded the moment he stepped on another world.
"Where are we?" Eric asked as he fell to the ground.
"Right now, you are in a basement but if you were to leave it then you would learn that the land that you are in it is called Highgarden." Danny said while noting that he was feeling an intense feeling of nausea.
"I have never heard of such a place." Pam said looking around.
"It would be weird if you had. Right now, we are on a completely different world." Danny said and could feel their astonishment.
"What do you mean?" Pam asked.
"I think that I was rather clear in my statement." Danny said. "Come I have much to explain to you." He walked up the many steps that led from the basement structure to the house. The original had placed it underground so that no random villager or lord found this place.
"How many stairs are in this place?" Pam asked walking behind them.
"It will not be that much longer." Danny said as he opened the door and pushed.
"Are we the only people here?" Eric asked.
"This house belongs to my servants. They are at the market buying food." Danny said. "That gives us plenty of time to inform you of what is happening in this land and what I want you to do."
"You want us to spy for you." Eric said. He knew what their "king" had other vampires doing for him.
"Partly. I also want to see if you and your lot can turn others into vampires on this planet." Danny said.
"Why would it be a problem?" Eric asked.
"The world that we came from had the other side for your souls to rest while your body underwent transition. I want to know how the process will work on this world that has no such thing." Danny said.
"How do you plan on testing that?" Pam asked.
"I thought that was why you were here. I know that you have wanted Eric to turn you." Danny said.
"I will not take such a risk here." Eric said.
"Alright then we can find someone here and use them as the experimental guinea pig." Danny said.
"Why have you brought us here?" Eric asked.
"I thought we already went over that?" Danny asked.
"I meant this world specifically. If you are aware of one than that means, there is a chance there are others. You brought us to this one specifically for some reason." Eric said.
"I brought you here because this land is edging closer to a civil war by the day. There will be such a huge number of bodies that no one will notice you. Even if they do unless the royal family come after you there is little chance for any of them to overpower you." Danny said.
"Is the royal family here witches?" Eric asked.
"No but what they do have is the ability to control dragons." Danny said watching as their eyes grew wide.
"Did you just say dragons?" Pam asked.
"Yes, I did. The ruling family called the Targaryens are the only survivors of a land where they tamed dragons and used them as weapons of war. Think of them as the Roman empire." Danny said using the term to give them an idea of what the Valyrian Freehold had been like.
"What happened to them?" Pam asked.
"No one is sure. Some think a magical experiment went wrong. Others think that their land was destroyed by the fourteen volcanoes that resided there. Take your pick. They call it the Doom of Valyria." Danny said. He wished that there was a version of Qetsiyah here to tell him the true reason as the mystery was going to drive him crazy.
"You have not gone there to check it out?" Pam asked.
"It is said that those that go to Valyria end up turning into monsters." Danny said. The maesters of this world had been rather vague on what happened, and very little research had been done since.
"Fucking magic." Pam cursed.
"How did this Targaryen family survive the accident?" Eric asked.
"They had been off of the island before the doom happened." Danny said. The reason behind that was also debated. History stated that the Targaryens were a noble family in Valyria. Not one of the most powerful houses of the forty houses of Valyria but noble, nonetheless. "It is said that the family resided in Valyria until Daenys Targaryen, also known as Daenys the Dreamer, the daughter of Lord Aenar Targaryen, had visions of a cataclysm that would come over Valyria. Aenar sold his estates in Valyria and moved his wives, children, other relatives, slaves, wealth, and five dragons to Dragonstone which was the westernmost outpost of Valyrian influence in One hundred-and fourteen B.C (Before Conquest) which by this land's calendar was two hundred and forty years ago."
"That is a useful vision." Eric said as he noted how the family had changed and improved their fate. When he was human, and his family went to talk to a seer they only got vague words and meaningless riddles.
"Others say that Lord Aenar and his family fled Valyria because of some mistake at court and his fate was either banishment or death. Either way it worked out for them becuase twelve years later the Doom descended on the city of Valyria, leading to the collapse of the Freehold. The Targaryens were the only dragonriders of Valyria to survive." Danny said. What followed that was the Century of Blood where the remaining territory of Valyria fought each other for control and dominance.
"How did they come here?" Eric asked.
"That is due to Aegon the First. He came to Westeros with his wives, their dragons, their army, and the desire to unite the seven warring kingdoms into one." Danny said.
"Wives?" Pam asked.
"The Valyrians were fine with both polygamy and incest. Aegon married his older sister Visenya and younger sister Rhaenys." Danny said. "Anyway, we are moving off track. The current king is old and close to dying. All signs to his son and daughter fighting over who gets to sit on the Iron Throne Aegon created when he melted down all the swords of his defeated enemies."
"That sounds impressive." Eric said.
"It would be if the chair did not look like a deformed monstrosity. It is full of jagged and sharp edges." Danny said thinking on the image the B.I.R.D.S. gave him.
"What side do you think is going to win?" Eric asked.
"I plan on helping his daughter Rhaenyra take the throne." Danny said. "Anyway, that is not your problem. Your task right now is to find someone that you feel like turning into a vampire."

(Dragonstone, Westeros)
Danny whistled as he looked around the giant structure of Dragonstone. The castle towers were shaped by Valyrian magic to look like dragons to make the castle look fearsome, and they placed a thousand gargoyles upon the walls. It still amazed him how big the structures the people of this world could build. The Red Keep could fit several versions of King Henry's castle inside of it. He would come back and take pictures of them when he had the time.
Danny teleported inside the castle and started walking.
"Who are you?" A guard asked him while walking closer to him.
"Do not worry about it. What you can do is tell me where I can find the painted table." Danny said with a smile as he read the guard's mind.
"Take a left at the hallway, walk up two flights of stairs, then take a right and it will lead you there. The Painted Table is in a round room on the top floor of the Stone Drum." the guard replied.
"Thank you. Enjoy a quick nap." Danny said as he tapped the guard on the head and started following the instructions that were given to him.
Danny looked through the door ahead of him and saw w he had come for.
The Painted Table is the map that Aegon Targaryen had drawn up after his journeys into Westeros. It is more than fifty feet long roughly twenty-five feet wide at its widest point and four feet at its thinnest. Positioned near Dragonstone's spot on the map is a raised seat that allows the occupant to view the entire table. Looking at the map he went over what he knew of the lords that watched over them.
In the kingdom of Westeros after the royal family there are ten major noble families. Khun, Arie, Ari, Tu Perie, Poe Bidau, Hendo Lok, Lo Po Bia, Eurasia, Yeon, and Ha. These were families that bowed before Aegon in return for either keeping their seats of power or gaining them. Below them were the countless minor nobles he had not bothered remembering.
He heard the door open behind him and turned to see who it was.
"Who are you?" Rhaenyra Targaryen asked him with her husband and guards behind them.
"I have just come to see the painted table." Danny said as he looked at them.
Rhaenyra is the first-born child of King Viserys I Targaryen. Rhaenyra is King Viserys I's only living child by his first wife, Queen Aemma of House Arryn. She rode the dragon Syrax. At the age of eight, she was made her father's heir. Most that he knew about her came from the scandals that she was involved in. She had three children Princes Jacaerys 'Jace', Lucerys 'Luke', and Joffrey 'Joff' Velaryon. Rumor was that they were her bastard children by her lover, Harwin Strong, the man that they called "Breakbones", as all three were born with brown hair, though Rhaenyra and her first husband Laenor both had light silver/gold hair that showed they descended from Valyria. King Viserys made it illegal to mention the rumor with the threat of having their tongue's cut off.
That just made people believe that it held truth and caused the rumor to stick around.
"I hope you enjoyed your visit because you will the rest of your short life in the dungeons of this castle." Dameon Targaryen said pointing a sword at him.
Daemon was Rhaenyra's uncle and her husband. That was the other scandal about them. The two of them had gotten married in secret very shortly after losing their partners. Some speculated that it was murder as both siblings and Rhaenyra's lover died in the same year.
"It's not that easy to catch me." Danny said as he backed away from the table and closer to the hearth in the room. While he had their attention, he went to read their minds to find out where the dragons were being stored.
"There is no way out." Daemon said pointing his sword Dark Sister at him.
"That's what you think. I can leave any time I wish. Anyway, it is rather late, and you should go back to bed." Danny said as he turned intangible and fell through the floor to the rookery where the eggs were being kept. The Targaryens had plenty more to worry about in their kingdom than a couple of dragon eggs going missing.
