My Hero Academia
Tales of the Foreigner
Chapter Nine
A Squad Is Formed
"Dear God!" Kaminari said as he along with his friends watched Lunch Rush walking over to the table they were sitting at with a cart filled with various foods. Ranging from fried foods, fruits, vegetables, rice mixed with pieces of meat, soups, hamburgers, etc.
"Sorry for the wait. Had to take care of the other kids before bringing out Heather's food." Lunch Rush said as Heather stared in amazement and hunger at the cart filled with food.
"All this is for her!?" Jiro asked as Lunch Rush nodded. "There's no way she can eat all that. She'll gain too much weight….wait. Wouldn't this cost like a lot of money for her to pay?"
"No need to worry about the money. This food is made by yours truly and it is required for her to eat this much on a daily basis. Mainly because of her high metabolism from the information Recovery girl gave me on how to prepare her food."
"That would explain why she ate my other half of the lunch I had yesterday." Mineta said which caused Heather to blush a bit in embarrassment. "N-Not that it's a bad thing or anything."
"I along with the staff in the kitchen will be preparing your food for now on until further notice, Heather." He said while bowing to the bunny girl before heading back into the kitchen. "Enjoy your meal!" Heather turns her attention towards the cart of food as she soon digs into it with vigor and joy. The bunny girl lets out moans of pleasure from how delicious the food tasted, but soon paused with a slice of pizza in her mouth upon seeing Mina and the others were staring at her. Mainly how she was using her hands to eat the food given to her. Heather felt like she was being watched as she looked over at her new friends.
"Um...is something wrong?" Heather asked as she felt Mineta reach towards her face with a napkin to wipe off some of the food around her mouth.
"You might want to use a pair of chopsticks when you're eating." Jiro said before showing the bunny girl what she meant. Heather simply tilted her head after feeling Mineta pulling away from her face.
"I don't think she knows what chopsticks are." Mineta said before handing Heather a fork to use as she takes it. Mina took notice of Mineta being prepared for something like this as she raised an eyebrow at him.
"...It's weird how you were prepared for something like this...What did you do to her Mineta?" She asked as the young boy raised his hands up in defense.
"I didn't do anything. I was tasked to be her guide around the school by Principal Nezu!" He said which took his classmates by surprise before looking over at Heather for confirmation. Heather simply nodded as she continued to eat.
"...Please explain what happened yesterday...more importantly what happened to you." Momo asked as Heather gulped down the food she was eating and looked over at the group. "I mean, if you don't feel comfortable talking about it." Heather looked over at Mineta for reassurance that they can be trusted as he nodded with a smile on his face.
"Alright." Heather said before noticing a lot of the students in the cafeteria keeping their distance from her and the others. "Not like anyone will listen in. Plus you are friends with Mineta so it would be fair." She said before taking a deep breath and explained to the group in great detail about what had happened to her. "Before ending up here in U.A High School, I was just a normal six year old girl living over in the USA. My parents were Pro-Heroes. I can't remember what their actual names were or their hero names, nor do I know what their quirks were. But I'm pretty sure it might be the same quirk that I have. Anyway, I was making my way home one night after spending some time with a friend, when all of a sudden I felt someone grabbing me from behind and placing something over my mouth to prevent me from screaming. I don't know what it was that was covering my mouth and nose, but it made me sleepy after a couple of minutes trying to escape whoever it was that was holding onto me like that. Soon, everything went dark after that and when I woke up, I found myself in a strange large room coated with stuff that most kids would like to have. Comic books, video games, stuffed animals, VHS tapes of cartoons and movies. Basically kid stuff. At first I thought I was dreaming, but that wasn't the case when the man with the vampiric quirk came in and told me what he did, and what my life was now. At first, I didn't take him seriously. But the times when I would try to escape...That's when I took him seriously."
"W-What did he do?" Mina asked, fearing the answer of what happened to the bunny girl.
"It's...kind of hard to remember for the most part. A lot of it involved him beating me up with his fist by punching me in the gut or face. Inject me with some weird looking liquid which causes my body to feel like I'm on fire or worse. Knock me out with an object at the back of my head, or puts something in my food he gives me without me knowing it...though each time he did that I found my shorts off to the side and my butt hurting the next day." She said which caught everyone off guard by that as she noticed it. "Um...did I say something wrong."
"N-No, no. You didn't say something wrong. C-Continue." Mineta said he and the other trying to keep their composure.
"Okay...anyway. This went on for the past ten years until I hit sixteen. That was when my quirk manifested and I decided to use it on the kidnapper when he was changing out the size of my shackles. Seeing how he was frozen, I pretty much took whatever I could along with me and left...which wasn't a lot seeing how he didn't have any food in his house. And the only thing he had was the oatmeal he kept feeding me with. After that, I pretty much spent the past three month on the street trying to figure out where I was and trying to find a way home."
"And then you ended up following the league of villains which brought you here to U.A High School." Kaminari asked as Heather nodded. "...Dude how are you not an emotional wreck?" Kaminari asked which caused Jrio to elbow him on his shoulder.
"I...Don't know...I just never really paid much attention to it and just wanted to find my way back home...I'm just glad I'm not with that man anymore." She said before going back to eating. As she was going back to eating, Mina motions for Momo, Jiro, and Kaminari to gather around her as they began to whisper to each other.
"This explains so much as to how she can't understand a lot of things that's common in Japan." Mina said as Momo nodded while glancing over at Heather still eating.
"Not to mention the bandages covering her body. She's like a ten year old in the body of a teenager...Which I'm a bit worried about."
"You mean because of Mineta?" Jiro asked as Momo shook her head.
"Mineta's is a...pervert. But so far he hasn't done anything to her that would make her dislike him...at least right now. I'm more worried about other people in this school. She's too...well naive to know the difference when someone is taking advantage of her." She said as Mina, Jiro, and Kaminari stared at Heather eating while Mineta would clean up her mess on the table she was making. "Let's go over the fact that I picked up from what she told us. She's been locked away from the world for the past ten years, so her knowledge of anything that doesn't involve cartoons or movies is limited. She doesn't know how to use chopsticks or certain eating utensils...I think. She also doesn't know how to speak japanese, understand the language, nor can she read her own language...which means she might have some kind of reading disability."
"It also doesn't help that she's kind of an outcast due to the rumors of her being a villain." Mina added as she noticed the students keeping their distance from Heather, and giving her odd looks of disgust and annoyance. "It pretty much made her a target for bullying or worse."
"What should we do?" Kaminari asked as Momo smiled at the group.
"We help her. As a fellow student from another country, it's our job...no our duty as heroes to help others out." Momo said before looking over at Heather again who was looking at her and the group talking to each other. "S-So Heather. How are you liking U.A so far?"
"Well other than what happened this morning. I'm really liking this place...but if you don't mind me asking. What's the school sports festival that Aizawa was talking about? I wasn't paying attention for the most part due to...well."
"Say no more, we were there when that happened." Mina said before clearing her voice as Heather thought she was going to speak, only for the pink girl to gesture to Momo. "Momo, could you explain it Heather?"
"...Sure." Momo said with a deadpan expression on her face before explaining. "To make it easy for you to understand. The UA Sports Festival is basically an event to show Pro Heroes the many students that have potential quirks and recruit them to join a pro hero's agency. In a way this helps students who graduate from UA become professional heroes later on in their career as heroes." She said before an idea suddenly appeared in Mineta's head as he spoke up.
"Guys, this might be a perfect opportunity for Heather!" He said which caused everyone to look at Mineta. "Here me out. Nezu said that he was looking into finding out where Heather's parents are over in America, right? And seeing how the sports festival is in two weeks?"
"Everyone all over the world will be watching it." Jiro said as she realized what Mineta was suggesting. "That means Heather's parents might be watching it as well. And if they see Heather here."
"Then she'll be reunited with her family!" Kaminari yelled before looking over at Mineta. "Mineta you're a genius for once."
"Thanks...Hey!" Mineta said as he realized what he meant by that.
"As much as that is a good idea. There's a bit of a problem with that." Momo said before gesturing to the way Heather is looking. "Like Heather said, some of the students and the teachers think she's a villain due to being with the league of villains during the USJ incident. Not to mention she's a guest here, and only students are allowed to participate in the sports festival. Not to mention that she doesn't have any combat skills or control over her quirk if Bakugo wasn't an example of that."
"True...but the event doesn't start in two weeks. Which can give her time to learn from if given the chance." Mina said before looking at Heather up and down. "Maybe we can run this by Principal Nezu? He is in charge of the Sports Festival...I think."
"Should we go talk to him now, or should we do it when school is over?" Kaminari asked.
"After school would be the best time to ask him this." Momo answered. "I just hope he'll be willing to go along with this."
