My Hero Academy
Tales of the Foreigner
Chapter Ten
Harsh Lesson
The school bell rang once again, indicating that classes were over as once again many of the students made their home or did other after school activities within the school. After getting Heather well acquainted with the other classmates of class 1A, she along with Mineta, Jiro, Kaminari, Mina, and Momo confronted Principal Nezu with their plan in helping Heather. To hear this idea, he was taken by surprise from the idea of using the sports festival as a means to widen the search for Heather's parents or someone related to the bunny girl.
"I must say. That is a brilliant idea upon using the sports festival in widening the search for Ms WInter's family members. I must say even I would never have thought of that. But in order for this to work, that would mean Heather would have to put in the work as well." He said before looking over at the bunny girl. "Tomorrow, Aizawa will be taking the class over to the field to get a good assessment of how well you perform in combat. I won't lie, he's not going to hold anything back in your training regiment. Nor will he sugar coat his words. He made it clear that he doesn't trust you, so you'll have to give it your all. Understood?"
"Y-Yes sir." Heather said as Nezu looked over at her friends.
"And I'm sure you all will be able to help Heather in this ordeal, correct?" He asked as they nodded. "Wonderful. It's nice to see Heather was able to make some friends on her first day of school...despite what had happened."
"Don't remind me." Heather said as she heard her friends snicker in laughter. She quickly turns her attention onto them as they all look around the room to avoid eye contact while acting innocent. The bunny girl deadpans at them for a moment before turning her attention on the Nezu who was smiling at them.
"Anyway, I'll be sure to inform the other teachers about this so they'll try and help you during the preparation period. Do come by my office if you need anything or have questions that need answering."
"Thank you, Nezu. I mean Principal Nezu! I mean...what's the proper way to thank someone?" Heather asked as Nezu waved a hand at her while chuckling.
"No need to be so formal, and just Nezu is fine." He said before walking over to his desk. "Now run along children. Don't want to be late with whatever after school activity you all have planned." With that the students along with Heather exit out of Nezu's office and begin to make their way out of the school.
"I wasn't expecting that to go so well." Mina said as she looked over at Heather. "But now that you'll be joining the sports festival, this will help your parents find you much easier."
"That is if she can prove she can hold her own in twelve days. Which I can assume they're going to have you fight against one of us." Jiro added as Kaminari laughed a bit.
"Then all we have to do is just give up and she'll pass the test. SImple as that, right?"
"I doubt it's that simple, plus we don't know how the test will be on the twelfth day." Momo answered. "For all we know they could have a teacher fight against her, or worse."
"She could be fighting against Bakugo." Mineta added which caused Heather to stiffen up in fear of possibly fighting Bakugo. "But I doubt Mr. Aizawa would do something like that. Especially given how you froze him in ice twice."
"Yeah, but those two times were by accident...I have no combat training whatsoever...Unless playing street fighters alpha three and copying their moves counts as combat training?"
"...I mean...in a way yes, but also no." Momo said as she placed a hand on Heather's shoulder. "I'll see what I can look up online for you and send it to you on your...phone...oh dear."
"What?"
"Oh right, she doesn't have a phone." Mina said which caused Heather to tilt her head in confusion.
"Since when can you send stuff over the phone?" She asked as Mina pulled out her cell phone to show her. "What is that?"
"It's a cellphone. Think of it as a home phone but it's portable and you can take it with you on the go." She said which caused Heather to stare in shock from hearing this.
"They have phones like that here in Japan!?"
"Well all over the world to be accurate. You can also access the internet with it as well." Mineta said as he pulled out his phone to demonstrate what he meant by that. After a few touches on the screen, he pulls up a video of a dog barking at his reflection in the mirror. "Though you would either have to sign in on the school's wifi or have a service plan on your phone to be able to access the internet." He said before noticing steaming coming Heather head in trying to understand how this is even possible. "Hey, are you okay?"
"...Yeah...just...need time to process all this...a lot of time to process everything." Heather said as more steam came from off her head, which caused her friends to blink in surprise by this.
"L-Let's focus on training you first before doing anything else." Jiro suggested. "We don't want you to end up as Kaminari when he uses too much electricity."
"Hey! I take offence to that!" Kaminari yelled as Jiro ignored his complaining.
"Anyway, we should be heading off now. Don't want to be late and miss the train heading home." Jiro said as she began to head off home.
"Right, it was nice meeting you Heather. See you in the morning." Momo said before quickly following Jiro's lead.
"Seeya later Heather." Mineta said as Kaminari waved goodbye to Heather before he and Mineta followed after Jiro, Momo, and Mina.
"Yeah, seeya guys." Heather said as she watched her new friends walk off. The bunny girl let out a sigh before heading off towards her dorm. "Tomorrow's going to suck...and not in a good way." She said before entering inside and headed to her room.
[hr]
The morning bell rang upon U.A High School, indicating that classes were about to begin. The students began to make their way into the school to either head to their home room classes, get something to eat for breakfast, or to chat with friends before classes started. Though for a particular group of students in class 1A. They were out in the open field that they were in at the first day of was standing in the middle of the field as she examined herself due to the U.A workout uniform she was told to wear. Making his way to her was Aizawa as the bunny girl and her classmates focused their attention onto him...well the students were, Heather was trying her best to avoid eye contact with the man. Mainly due to how scary he was and because he made it clear that he didn't trust her. So it was kinda hard for her to feel relaxed around a guy who distrust her and possibly dislike her to her knowledge.
"Listen up class. Today's going to be Heather's examination. This is going to be an all day thing seeing how she'll be joining the class sooner or later. That doesn't mean you can slack off while watching. Under any circumstances are to help Heather or intervene during the last part of the exam. Got it?" He said as the class hesitantly nodded to his request. The older teacher looked over at Heather as he tossed her a ball. Heather was taken off guard by this as she tried to catch it, but failed as it fell to the ground. The bunny girl looked up at Aizawa who was writing something on a clipboard which caused Heather to gulp in anxiety. "Pick up the ball and throw it."
"R-Right!" She said before picking it up and looked around her surroundings. "Um, where do I throw it?"
"...Straight forward and not at the students." Aizawa said as Heather turned around to face forward. She pulled her hand with the ball back as she soon closed her eyes and threw the ball. She soon opens her eyes to see where the ball landed, only to feel it fall onto her head as she lets out a small yelp.
"Zero meters!" The ball said as Heather picked the ball off her head as she examined it before looking over at Aizawa.
"I got zero meters! Is that good!?" She asked as she noticed the shocked expression on her classmates faces. Aizawa's taken by surprise by this, but didn't show it on the outside and just wrote it down on the clipboard.
"...Let's...move on to the next part of the exam." He said before motioning her to follow him to a small running track with a timer at the end of the track. As this was happening, her classmates began to talk to one another.
"This is not looking good for Heather." Mineta said with a worried expression on his face.
"Let's not worry so much. I mean it's just the first test. Maybe she might excel at running?" Iida said as Mina nodded.
"Yeah, she did escape from Bakugo after all. And that guy's relentless." The pink girl said before watching Heather get into a runner's position and quickly bolted down the track. "Ha! I knew she was fast- '' Mina was soon cut off from her sentence as she felt a gust of wind blow past them. Said gust of wind ended up hitting Heather from behind as it flew her up into the air as she screamed in fear due to how quickly she was sent flying into the air. "Oh dear god."
"HELP! I DON'T KNOW HOW TO FLY!" Heather yelled before feeling the wind push her down as she crashed face first onto the ground. Some of the students watching her winced from the sound of her hitting the ground, while Bakugo simply busted out laughing.
"Get up, you still need to finish the test." Aizawa said as Heather slowly pulled herself up as she wobbly made her way to the finish line.
"Fifty-five seconds!" The machine said as it caused Heather to smile before falling onto the ground back first.
"Well she got the speed down...but she doesn't have something to keep her nailed to the ground." Aizawa thought as he wrote down more on the clipboard. "Not to mention she lacks any muscle strength. Guess Recovery girl wasn't kidding when she said she was malnourished."
"U-Um. Good work Heather! Keep it up!" Uraraka said as Heather weakly smiled at her.
"Don't think you're done kid. You still have six more tests to go and each one will be tougher than the last." Aizawa said before walking over to pick up a medium size device with a grip on the end of it. "Next it is your strength test."
"Six more...lord god. Give me strength to make it through all this."
For the past couple of hours, Heather was put through rigorous testing. Ranging from side stepping, lunging, push ups, sit ups, jumping jacks, etc. To no one's surprise...she wasn't doing well in any of them. This was mainly due to the fact that...Heather never really did anything involving exercising in her entire life. The test went on until noon as Heather was sweating profusely as indicated from her clothes being covered in sweat and vapor like steam coming from her body. The air around the teacher and students was getting colder and colder as the hours went by, mainly due to Heather's quirk activating due to the quirk canceling cuffs being off her wrist as he wrote down on the clipboard once again quickly before turning his attention onto Heather.
"That's enough. We're done for today." Aizawa said as Heather collapsed onto the ground while panting. As she was on the ground, Aizawa walked over to the bunny girl with a disappointed expression on his face. "This is just sad...no, not sad. Embarrassing to say the least. And you want to join the sports festival with how you performed today? Don't make me laugh."
"I-I can still-"
"Still continue. No, you can't. You shouldn't be allowed to join the U.A Sports Festival given the current state you're in. You've been locked away from the world for ten years. You have no combat skills of any kind, can't control your quirk given how cold it is outside now thanks to you, and you lack strength, stamina, and endurance due to your body being malnourished."
"But I can-"
"Improve within twelve day? Even if you were to improve within that time spam, you would still be leagues behind everyone in this school. This is a place to train the next generation of heroes, not a day care for someone who ended up here just by mistake." He said which caused Heather to go silent as she pulled herself up a bit was still on the ground. "A person like you with little knowledge of the world and only information she gets from cartoons shouldn't be here."
"Oh dear, this isn't looking too good." Mina whisper as Kaminari nodded
"Isn't this a bit much? I know she's not that experienced, but this is going a bit too far."
"It's not like he's being mean to her just because he doesn't trust her, but a lot of what he's saying is spot on. Though he could do it much better than being blunt about it." Momo whispered as she noticed Heather lowering her head. "I'm more worried that this might cause Heather to not go along with the plan of joining the sports festival."
"I said what needed to be said. Get yourself cleaned up for lunch, then head back to your dorm for today." He said before looking over at the rest of the class. "The rest of you are dismissed as well." Upon saying that, he along with some of the students began to make their way back into the school. The only ones that were left to check up on Heather were Momo, Mineta, and Mina as they walked over to her.
"You okay Heather?" Mineta asked as he along with the other looked surprised upon hearing Heather's stomach growling loudly. The bunny girl looked over at her friends with a blush on her face.
"I'm...very hungry." Heather said as she staggers to her feet, only to fall backwards once she was standing up. Mineta took notice of this as he quickly moved behind her to catch her into his arms. "Whoa, nice catch dude."
"T-Thanks." Mineta said with a blush on his face. Of course he would notice Mina and Momo's raised eyebrow as he looked away from Heather. "C-Can you stand?"
"At the moment, no. Mind carrying to the lunchroom Mineta?" She asked as the young boy shook his head as a means to get rid of any perverted thoughts he was getting. "I think Mina should carry you. M-Mainly because you have to change back into your regular clothes."
"Oh right...almost forgot about that." He said before handing her off to Mina as she was taken by surprise by how light she was.
"Wow...I didn't think you were this light. No wonder you could run that fast and escape Bakugo."
"Please don't bring up that incident ever again." Heather said as shivers from the thought. "It was like running from a demon...if he can make stuff explode and yelling at me."
"Let's head over to the change room and get you something to eat." Momo suggested as they all nodded and began to head back inside.
