Hi everyone! anyone else miss Towen? because.. i surely do.

Beggin for Thread - BANKS

Teddy is laying in bed. She's tired and exhausted and the heat is definitely getting to her. The desert is hot. It's night time but this time of the year, it's still hot and her clothes are sticking to her and she's kind of agitated. She and the guys have had a day. And this job isn't easy. Losing people isn't easy, even when it's the bad guy. They had some drinks after their shifts, when things started to calm down, but the heat and the exhaustion, and the agitation was enough to make Teddy slip away quietly and crawl into her bed.

She closes her eyes and imagines it being her fluffy bed, with luxurious sheets with high thread count. She closes her eyes and imagines cold air-condition blasting and she pretends the sound of the chopper hovering is just the loud air-conditioner in her old New York apartment. She is not in the desert. She is transported back to her cozy bedroom, in her cozy bed with her cozy pillow and cozy sheets. And it's colder than this poor excuse of an air conditioner she actually has in this room.

Her fingers fidget with her dogtag, thumb caressing it tenderly. What the actual fuck is she doing. What the fuck is she getting out of this. And for fucking what. This doesn't bring Alison back. This doesn't take away the anger. Why the fuck is she here. She could have just packed her bags and move to the midwest. Or California. Or wherever the fuck. Why did she enlist. Why does she live in the desert, sewing blown up people back together. Why did she have to meet this man who won't leave her back. Why is she having feelings for this unavailable and annoying redhead—okay he's not annoying, he's quite the opposite. The best person she's ever met.

She knows why she's here. She knows her reasons. But she's allowed to doubt them. She's allowed to regret them every now and then, when things are bad.

Someone pounds at her door. And she puts a pillow over head and let out a muffled groan while the pounding kept going. She really wasn't in the mood.

She eventually gets up to make the pounding stop, and she swings the door open, which reveals a drunk Owen. She knows he's drunk because he has a stupid grin on his face. And he's red. From the heat, from the alcohol, whatever.

"What's going on?" She asks, crossing her arms on her chest.

"Teddy" He says back slurring. She didn't realize it was it was possible to slur two syllables but here he is.

"What's up?" She chuckles, amused with him. He's hot and sweaty and his eyes narrow at her. It surely made her feel slightly better and less agitated. Owen, her closest friend here, her uptight, buttoned up friend, is staring at her and slurring.

"Can I come in? I have to talk to you about something" He says urgently and stumbles into her room. She looks around to see if there's anyone behind him or watching him stumble into her room.

He helps himself and sits on the edge of her bed. She crosses her arm and stands against the wall in front of him. She gets a little shy. She's sweaty or gross and she just let her hair down from being in a tight bun all day. Her shirt was untucked and definitely sweaty. He is sitting in her bed, staring at her with a dopey smile.

"What's up" she says again.

"We should have sex" he says bluntly.

She laughs and throws her head back. "What?"

"We should have sex. Just like… obviously just between us, we don't tell anyone. I scratch your itch. You scratch mine."

"Owen, are you crazy?" She laughs again "How drunk are you? Is this a dare?"

"I just mean—"

"You have a fiancee"

"I—"

"You're messing with me."

"So if I didn't have a fiancee, would your answer be different?"

She bites her lip, wondering if she should answer the question.

"I like you." He says, filling his silence "Like a lot."

She can feel herself blush. It just got so much hotter in her room.

"Owen…."

"Oh god. Did I just say that out loud" He says laying on her bed, covering his face with his hands "I was thinking it. And I have been thinking it for a while now actually and it's ridiculous but I think I'm falling in love with you and no one makes me feel the way you do. I can't believe I just stormed in here drunk as fuck and proposed to be fuck buddies"

Teddy slides down against the wall sitting on the floor. She does want to climb him. To be perfectly honest, if she didn't feel disgusting and sweaty she might have taken the bait. But they can't start like this. If this was ever to happen.

"You love Beth."

"Do I? She doesn't make me laugh like you do. She doesn't get me. You get me. We talk. We laugh. We are easy."

"Will it be as easy if there was more than friendship?"

"Maybe"

"Owen, you are my best friend. I can't lose you. As much as I want to. Believe me."

"What if I break up with Beth?" He says, sitting up "Right now."

"What if you sober up first and see how you feel in the morning."

He groans and lays back down again. "Beth and I are— We're not as good as you and me"

She's amused now. She doesn't want to say much, that she feels the same way, that she hopes he'd leave Beth, because she knows better. Because she knows he's going to wake up sober the next day and he will regret everything. And she can't have that. So she's going to smile and keep her distance and not take it personally.

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah. I think we're perfect. And I don't know your situation if you're into me or you really just see me as a friend but I think we're perfect together."

"Really? How do you think you and Beth are?"

"If I met you before Beth, then this wouldn't be an issue" He groans.

"Yeah?"

"Why can't we just say 'okay we are in different places in our life. I've met someone and I'm not saying that to hurt you but to be honest with you'"

"You're going to say that to your fiancee? That's how you're going to break up with her?"

"Why can't we just normalize that? That that's okay? That… that's life."

"Yeah, but that will still hurt her."

"So I should just…be hurt and suffer by not being with the person I love to protect Beth's feelings."

"Love? Oh you're in love with me now"

He laughs "Yes."

"And do you love Beth?"

"…Not like I love you"

"Just.. wait until tomorrow okay? Just sleep this off."

"Have sex with me."

She doesn't respond for a while because she's honestly thinking about it. Maybe it's not a terrible idea. She's wanted to for the longest time. But maybe it's not a good idea because she's sweaty and gross and smelly and she cannot have sex with him like this. Plus he's drunk out of his wits. So she just takes a deep breath and puts the thought aside.

"If I have sex with you tonight I don't see this friendship surviving because I will get hurt, you will get hurt, and Beth will get hurt. That's the truth. And if you really mean what you're saying, then you will wake up tomorrow and feel confident about that decision. I know you're not just going to leave Beth just like that. You two have too much history and have so much to look forward to. And if I have sex with you tonight, I will lose you and I cannot lose you. Not now. Not here. Not ever. You hear me?"

He doesn't respond. Teddy gets up and sees him fast asleep on her bed. She just sighs and slides back down the wall onto the floor.

It's fine. It's probably for the best that he didn't hear any of that.

"Great. Just great." She mutters.

He wakes up with a pounding headache and he reeks of whiskey. He's definitely not in his bed or his room. The pillow smells like Teddy's hair. He looks around and it eventually registers that he's in her room. He doesn't know why. But he is fully dressed, his shoes on the side of the bed. Teddy was nowhere in sight. He looks at his watch. It's four in the morning and it's dark out and he has no idea what happened or why Teddy isn't in her room. He decides that's a problem for tomorrow. So he slowly gets up and half-assedly puts on his shows and schlepps to his room, making sure no one sees him sneaking out of hers. That's the last thing he needs. A rumor going around that he and his best friend are fucking.

Oh fuck. That's what it was.

No. no. no. He did not just ask her to be his dessert fuck buddy. That's in all ways wrong. He doesn't remember (yet) how that ended but he's assuming it didn't happen because he seemed pretty clothed and his belt was definitely still tight around his waist. So his guess is that he propositioned this and then he fell asleep, which is probably more embarrassing than the proposition itself. So he gets to his room and plops into his bed, hating himself and everything his inebriated brain and body did. He'll apologize to Teddy later and they'll put this to rest because he cannot lose his best friend.

But he wonders if maybe he actually meant it. He tries to go back to sleep but he can't help but think that maybe he wants to hold her and kiss her and actually make love to her, and not his fiancee. The smell of her hair lingers. He finds comfort in it. She's intoxicating. She's addicting. He drifts off to sleep and thinks about her and that maybe he should take a chance when it comes to his relationships for once. Maybe he's outgrown Beth. Maybe Teddy is the love of his life. He doesn't know if it's still the whiskey or if this is a breakthrough. But it's pretty clear who he wants to be holding right now. And she's somewhere nearby. She's around here somewhere probably cursing him out for stealing her bed.

"You look like shit" Megan says as she sits next to her. It's early. The morning is crisp and actually pleasant and she didn't get much sleep and there is so much going on in her head. Owen drives her crazy. She can't stop thinking about him, but things escalated last night whether he was sincere or not. And now her brain won't stop.

"Gee, thanks" Teddy says dryly. "I didn't get much sleep last night. Your brother crashed in my bed."

"Meow, your bed?" She teases suggestively, shoulder checking her. Teddy laughs because she can't help it. Megan is like a little sister to her.

"Shut up. He was drunk and asleep and probably can't find his way to his room."

"Did he just bother you to complain about Beth because that's all he's been doing lately."

"Well, that among other things"

"Like?"

"Like…okay fine, mostly Beth" She's not going to tell his sister the things that came out of his mouth because that's….tricky.

"That shit needs to end. I want him to be happy but he's clearly not. They're clearly not meant for each other. He deserves to be with someone who gets him."

Teddy just gives Megan a look.

"Here he comes. Looking fresh as a daisy" Megan mutters and puts on a fake smile for her approaching brother.

Teddy wants to runaway but that would be weird so she just stays put. And he definitely looks more like a wilted begonia than a fresh daisy. When she went back to her room closer to sunrise, he was already gone. She wonders when he went back to his room, but whenever that was he obviously did not get much sleep.

"Good morning, Major" Megan says smirking at her older brother.

"I'm not in the mood for you, Megan" He growls quietly at his little sister, who definitely knows the fastest way to get to him when she wants to annoy him.

"Hey. You feeling okay?" She intercepts before the Hunt siblings throw hands at each other.

"Yep." He answers quickly. "Do you have a second?"

Her heart pounds because she is not ready and she doesn't know what's about to happen. Does he remember last night. Does he remember anything.

"I'll see my way out" Megan says as she walks away from them and disappears into one of the tents.

"Hey, sorry about last night" He says as soon as his sister was out of earshot.

"No problem" she says, smiling. She's not sure what he's apologizing for. For crashing? For trying to have sex with her? For falling asleep in the middle of a conversation?

"If I said anything that's….off limits, I really apologize"

"You don't remember?"

"Vaguely"

She chuckles "That's probably for the best"

"Oh god. That bad?"

"No. Not bad. Dont worry about it, Hunt." She says, punching him lightly in the arm.

She is somehow disappointed that he doesn't remember. Maybe he didn't mean it. Maybe he'll really stay with Beth forever.

A part of her is like 'fuck it'. Another part wishes she just gave in last night if he wasn't going to remember anyway.

But the problem is she will remember. And she will hate herself for it.

"Really. No recollection?" Teddy says smirking "You said some pretty big things last night, my friend"

He just blushes and laughs. "I probably meant it too." He says.

And that was a punch to her gut. He probably did. But if he did he'd be on the phone with Beth so fast.

"Well, for what it's worth…." She starts, because fuck it. "If you stayed awake I would have said yes too"

She smirks at him and walks away. She looks back after a few steps and he's still watching her walk. She doesn't know where they go from here but she laid all her cards in front of him. It's up to him now. Fuck it.

Make them come back sooner. i miss them so much.
