After going to Cori's place to get her bike, we biked (and skateboarded) to an empty lot. Once there Cori asked "So, apologizing. Never thought I'd hear that from you." "Why does everyone say that," I said, "I'm not that predictable, am I?" She laughed. Man, I could hear her laugh all day. "So Mr. Predictable, I bet I can get to the edge of the lot before you can," she said. "You're probably right, but I won't admit defeat yet," I said. "Alright," she said with a smile.
We lined up at the one edge of the lot. "One… Two…" "Three," I screamed as I sped past her. The wind stung my face as I skated through the lot. I saw her past me up on my left and I picked up my speed. She won, but I'll always say it was a tie. She brushed her hair out of her face and said "Shouldn't you guys be collecting mutagen?" I shrugged. "Maybe," I said, "But I can't really do that without Donnie. He's the brains behind the mutagen stuff." "I feel like you turn to Donnie for everything," she said. "Not everything. When you need someone beaten up you can call me and Casey," I said.
"Where is he," she asked. "He usually helps out his dad during the day." I sat on the asphalt and said "His dad's an exterminator." She chuckled and said "Is that why he's so afraid of rats?" I shrugged and said "Yeah, I guess so." "Well, I guess you can't go exterminating with him either," she said. "Why," I asked. "Because you're scared of cockroaches. You wouldn't last a second on that job," she replied. I gently punched her in the arm. "Ya know, you don't have to tease me so much," I said. She looked up at me and said "Well I have to tease you know, or you won't let me in the future." "I'll always let you tease me," I said.
She looked at me and turned away. Ugh, why did I just say that? It sounded so cheesy. Man, this is awkward now. Cori didn't say anything for a few minutes. Suddenly she turned to me and said "Let's go beat some people up." I helped her get up and said "Gladly. But don't you need your weapons?" "Why do you think I brought my jacket," she replied as she reached into her coat's pockets. She pulled out her bird mask and her tonfas. "Let's go," she said. She parked her bike behind a dumpster in the lot and we cautiously exited the lot.
We climbed to the rooftops and began looking for some thugs. You'd think it be harder to find some Purple Dragon scum to pick on at noon on a Saturday. We were only patrolling for ten minutes until we found a Purple Dragon picking on some man. "Tsoi," I said while sneaking up behind him, "long time no see." "Not you again," he groaned. The man behind him cowered in fear. Tsoi looked at Cori and said "So this is the allusive Crow. You've been stirring some trouble for the Shredder. You have a price on your head." Cori lowered her voice and said "Guilty as charged." She looked over to the man hunched up in a ball behind Tsoi.
"You know, beating up helpless people really bugs me." Tsoi pulled out his sledgehammer and swung it at Cori. She glided out of the way. I hung back next to the man. "Hey buddy," I said. He looked up at me with huge eyes. "Run," I said. I flashed my weapons and in an instance he was gone. "Aw, Raph, you scared him," Cori teased. I heard a thud as Cori knocked Tsoi to the ground. He scrambled up and attempted to run but Cori grabbed the back of his collar and said "Just because he can run away doesn't mean you can. You really must learn your manners." She threw him towards me where I pinned him to the side of the building.
"Crow, would you" "Of course," she said as she put her knife against his neck. "I got some questions for you and you're going to answer. Now, what do you know about the Kraang's projects?" "What's the Kraang," Tsoi said. "Oh c'mon Tsoi," I said," you can do better than that. We all know that the Shredder works for the Kraang. And you work for the Shredder. I think you can see the connection." Cori glared at Tsoi until he said "Okay, I do know what the Kraang are up to. But I'm not gonna tell you." "Tsk, tsk," Cori hissed, "I was really hoping you would cooperate." She pressed her blade closer against Tsoi's neck.
She really did look like she could kill. "Alright, alright. All I know is that they're gonna do something at the harbor on Monday. I swear that's all I know," he answered at last. She glared at him one last time and pushed him out of her way. I never knew Tsoi could run so fast. "So, what was that," I said. She turned to me and said "What was what." I shrugged and said "Oh, you know. Looked like you were about to kill someone, asking strange questions. You know the norm." "They're things that you don't even know Raph," she said. "Hey," I said, "I'm supposed to be the mysterious one." Cori rolled her eyes.
"Sorry, forgot about that. Hey, could you and your brothers patrol the warehouses in the area on Monday," she said. I nodded and said "Sure, but why do you care so much about the Kraang?" "Don't you remember me telling you about why I am Crow," she said as she folded her arms. "It was like two months ago, give me a break," I said. "Well, if you really must know," she said in a snobby voice, "my friend got 'involved' with the Kraang. You know she disappeared and stuff. Still looking for her."
She turned away and started climbing onto the roof. "Hey um, sorry about that," I said. Man this is awkward. "I know it must have been hard for you." She continued to climb as she said "It still is, but something has filled that hole." What was she talking about? Does this mean she was glad she met me or was she just talking about April and the rest of the gang? Everyone's being so mysterious today. I wish they'd stop; it's hurting my brain thinking about it.
