"So where's the guys at," Casey asked Cori. Cori sighed. How did she get stuck with him? If only she hadn't taken the back route, she wouldn't have run into him patrolling and be stuck with him. She turned around to Casey in his hockey gear and mask. "We're almost there okay." She took off her bird mask and rubbed her eyes. She didn't want to say it out loud but she really "disliked" Casey. She put it back on and climbed up a fire escape. Casey rushed in front of her and went first. Cori bit her tongue and climbed up after him. By the time she was half way up Casey was already to the top. "Whoa, Crow! It's a huge battle royale up here," Casey shouted from above. Cori rolled her eyes and continued to climb up.
She muttered to herself as she did. Suddenly a foot soldier fell pass her, onto the ground. Cori looked down. "That person is dead," she said to herself. She climbed faster now and reached the top. On the roof Rahzar, Xever, the turtles, various foot soldiers, and Karai were all fighting each other. Casey had joined in and was next to Raphael's side.
This sight oddly didn't alarm Cori at all. The guys dealt with this stuff all the time. She didn't expect it to be any different this time. She watched the battle from the ledge. Mikey and Donnie were busy fighting Xever and Rahzar where Raph and Casey were just beating people up everywhere. Leo and Karai were in a fight too. Cori stretched out first and then drew out her tonfas.
She cracked her neck and jumped into battle. She joined Raph and Casey. "Crow you made it! Aren't you glad that you get to bash some of Shredder's goons," Raph said. "Oh yeah, I just love pain. Seems like Donnie's got some bruises already," she replied. "Did I miss something," Casey asked as he kicked a foot soldier. "Cori can feel Donnie's and April's pain. And feelings. And thoughts. It's very complicated," Raphael explained. Casey just nodded. Cori bashed one of the foot soldiers head into the ground. Sparks flew out of it. "Good thing it's a robot," Raphael said. "It's a robot," Cori joked.
Finally there was only five foot soldiers left with Karai and Rahzar still fighting. One of Xever's legs was malfunctioning and he was hurt badly. A foot soldier supported him as they slowly retreated. Casey chucked a puck at one of the foot soldiers. "Looks like we got these guys on the ropes," he said. Cori clutched her right arm and evaded an attack. "Yeah I guess they—" She was interrupted by a scream of pain. Raphael turned and saw Mikey huddled up in a ball with Donnie protecting him from Rahzar. Leo ran away from Karai and went to Donnie's side. "What, are we done," Karai shouted, "I was having such a wonderful conversation."
She called for Rahzar to retreat. "Awww, but I was having so much fun. I almost got a kill," he growled. "C'mon Rahzar. We can always kill them later. And bring Fishface over there with you." The turtles ignored them leaving. Only Casey complained saying "Are we just seriously going to let them leave like that?!" Cori and Raphael rushed towards Mikey with Casey following them casually.
Mikey was curled up in a ball with his hands covering his face. His hands were covered in blood. Cori knelt by him. She hesitantly took off her glove and was about to touch Michelangelo when Donnie intervened. He grabbed her arm and pulled her away from Mikey. "What do you think you're doing," he asked angrily. "I'm going to fix his pain if you'd just help me do it," she replied while trying to get out of his grip.
"Cori you can't just go around and do this. Isn't two people enough to deal with when you're mentally connected to them." "Donnie please just let me—" "Let you do what. Kill yourself," he shouted. Leo looked up from Mikey and towards Donnie. "What do you mean 'kill yourself,'" Raph asked worriedly. Donnie caught his look and said quietly "We don't know what it'd be like if Cori could feel Mikey's pain. Whenever she does feel my pain, mine lessens dramatically. She's already in pain as it is. Cori I saw you limp over here. Don't pretend like it didn't happen." Cori looked straight into Donnie's brown eyes and said "But I won't die from it. Nobody's ever died by just the pain. It's the wounds they die from."
She pulled away from his grip. Donnie looked at his brothers and whispered "Cori, you can't die from pain, but sometimes it's overwhelming. You do things that you normally would never do. You'd think of things that you would never think of before. And I'm not talking about it in a good way. Look what I'm saying is that you won't die from pain, but it can make you do things similar to that." "You mean suicide," she said, "If you really think that I'm that stupid—" "It has nothing to do with being stupid. It's just; a lot of people have done things like that because the pain was too great. If that happened to you… Let's just say a lot of us would be thinking about the same thing." He took a quick gaze at Mikey. "What, you don't mean… Donnie, there's nothing between us."
"Yes but you're friends. Do you know how excited Mikey gets when you come over? He hasn't been doing well lately either. Please." Cori looked down and nodded silently. The rooftop was silent except for Mikey's ragged breaths. Cori slipped on her glove while Donnie walked over to Mikey. Raphael hung back with Casey. They whispered to each other as Donnie and Leo comforted Mikey.
Donatello crouched down next to Mikey and said "Mikey, let me see what's wrong okay. I can't fix you if you don't show me. Mikey's trembling hands moved away from his face to show a gash across his face where Rahzar had clawed at him. Cori turned around and bit her nails. "It hurts Donnie," Mikey whimpered. "We know," Leo said, "Just hang in there buddy." Donnie started to wrap gauze around Mikey's face. The gauze covered his eyes. Leo and Donnie helped Mikey up and walked him over to the fire escape where they climbed down.
Raphael approached Cori and said "Cori, um, the harbor thing. It was just—" "Raphael I don't care about the harbor. I honestly don't. Your brother just got injured badly and all you care about is that stupid harbor. Honestly, you'd think you'd be more upset about it but no you just talk with Casey here the whole time. Do you even care?" "Hey back off," Casey shouted, "He didn't ask for any of that krap." "Whatever," Cori responded and she walked away. She limped a little as she climbed down the fire escape. She avoided Raph's eye contact the whole time. "What a jerk," Casey said. "Yeah, right," Raph said quietly.
