Cori threw her book bag on the floor and fell onto the couch face-down. "Cori I know you're feeling sick but couldn't you have managed to make it to your bed," her mother teased. "Usually when I have to go home early, that means that you're really sick. I had enough trouble trying to go down the stairs of the school just to reach the office," Cori replied as she rolled over. "Why don't you make yourself useful and get yourself some water," her mother said.
Cori moaned and struggled to sit up on the couch. She blew away some of her hair out of her face and got off the couch. She walked over to the fridge and got out a cup from the cupboard. "Do we have any Tums or something for my stomach? It hurts like crazy," Cori said as she filled up a glass of water. "Maybe but I'll—Cori! Don't chug it!" Cori was drinking the water in big gulps she had almost finished it when she became dizzy.
She put the glass down and held her head in her hands. Her vision faded in and out. Whenever she could see everything was blurry. "I never realized I was so thirsty…" she said as she collapsed on the floor. Her vision went black and the last thing she heard was her mother frantically shouting her name.
