Why today? Of all days, why today? For once I'd like to not have to fight for my life. I sliced off the head of a Foot bot. Off in the distance I heard the screech of tires and a monotone voice saying "Kraang, assist the ones known as the Foot with the action of capturing the ones known as the turtles." I blocked an attack from a Foot and clenched my katanas tighter. Great, now the Kraang are here. Can things get any better? We can't take anymore of this! I'm starting to lose my breath. We won't last long at this rate. I dodged another attack from a Foot soldier when I heard a scream. I looked over my shoulder and scanned the rooftop.
I found Cori lying on the ground in front of Xever. I sprinted over the rooftop and slashed at Xever. Our swords clashed with each other. He smiled evilly and said "Soon Master Shredder will be dining on turtle soup." Raph came up from behind Xever and pulled out his life support system. "Don't you know Leo's the one who makes the bad jokes?" "That's hurtful," I said. Xever sat on his knees, struggling for his breath. His hands shook as he reached for his tubes to reconnect them. He wouldn't be able to fight for a while. I turned back to Cori. Raph frowned and crouched next to her.
"Cori? Cori," he said as he shook her. "She's not waking up." Raph looked up at me with sad eyes. The same look he had whenever one of us was hurt badly. "Go get Donnie," I ordered, "I'll stay and protect her." Raph nodded and ran away, looking for Donnie. What are we supposed to do now? We have to get Cori back to the lair. I sighed. I can't believe I'm doing this. I took out my t-phone and dialed 9-1-1. This is ridiculous.
"9-1-1 what's your emergency?" This is humiliating. "Yes, um, there's this huge fight on the roof tops here." "Where are you at sir?" I gritted my teeth as I said "We're on the corner of 1st Avenue." "We? Who else is there?" "My… Girlfriend. We're not involved in the fight," I lied, "We were just minding our own business when we noticed this." "Alright sir, the police are already on their way. You're the third caller today." "Thanks." I hung up the phone and put it away. If my brothers find out about me having to ask for help with the local authorities, I will never hear the end of it. At least the Foot would be forced to leave. Even if they could take care of the cops they don't want to be well known in the city.
I drew my katanas and guarded Cori. "Leo, what happened," I heard someone shout. I turned to Donatello running straight at me. "Cori's hurt." "Really? You don't say," Donnie said as he crouched down next to her. "We need to get out of here," I said. I kicked a Foot bot as it approached us. "Well how do you suppose we do that," Donnie said, "There's Foot everywhere. They'll corner us before we even take a step off this building." "They'll leave because the cops are coming," I replied. "And how do you know that?" "Because… Because." I hung my head in shame as I said "I called them to come." Donnie chuckled and said "Really? You asked for their help? Wow, you really are desperate."
"Hey, the Foot will leave when they see the cops because they don't want to be discovered by them either," I yelled, "At least it'll work!" "Whatever…" Please let no one else find out about this. Donnie felt Cori's forehead. He looked up and said "Was she bitten by Fishface?" "How am I supposed to know?" Donnie opened his mouth to say something when I heard the faint sound of a siren. "That's our cue," I said, "Let's go!" Donnie lifted Cori into his arms and followed me. "Mikey, Raph! Let's go!" Soon Raph and Mikey joined us. I looked around. The siren was becoming louder each moment. The Foot looked confused. I watched as Karai finally called her troops back. "Next time Leonardo," she shouted as she retreated. We tried to get as far away as possible before we retreated to the sewers.
Donnie gently laid Cori on the floor. "Raph, go get my first-aid kit from the lab." Raph nodded and rushed to Donnie's lab. "Is Crow going to be okay," Mikey asked quietly. "She'll be fine," I said before Donnie could answer. Mikey didn't look convinced but didn't argue with me about it. "What happened to you," April said as she ran over to us. She covered her mouth as she saw Cori unconscious on the ground. "My sons are you alright," I heard Splinter say from behind us. I could feel his hand on my shoulder. "What happened?"
I peeled my gaze off of Donnie and Cori and looked up to Splinter. "It was an ambush. They caught us by surprise." Splinter nodded and didn't say anything else. "Here," Raph said as he dropped the first-aid kit next to Donnie. Donnie opened it the box and rummaged through its contents. "Here," he said as he handed us some gauze and rubbing alcohol. "Donnie, she's moving," Mikey said excitedly. Donnie looked over to Cori. Her eyes fluttered open. Thank god she's okay. She looked confused but suddenly screamed. She crawled backwards and hit her head against one of the entrance's steps. She closed her eyes and slumped over. "What the heck was that," I said.
"I think she was bitten by Fishface," Donnie said as he mixed a concoction, "So she's hallucinating like Raph did." "How long until you're done," Raph asked. Donnie stuck his tongue out and mixed two vials together and said "This should work." He injected the liquid into Cori's arm. "Now what," April said. "We wait," Donnie said, "I don't know how long it'll take for Cori to wake up. It could only be a couple of hours or days."
He looked over to me and said "Can you help me take her to her room?" I nodded quietly. Together we lifted up Cori and carried her to her room. We gently laid her down on her bed. "Do you think she'll be okay," I asked. I hated how my voice shook. "I don't know," Donnie said without looking at me. "I don't know…"
