Cori sighed and blew a stray hair out of her face. She had been stuck in the room for about three days now recovering and she had never been more bored in her life. Sure the guys and April would come in and talk to her. Even Splinter once and awhile. But for the most part Cori was stuck reading books Donnie gave her. And it didn't help that all the books he had were related to physics or math. Cori rolled over onto her back and stared at the ceiling. She stared at a spot where the paint had started to chip. She noticed a spider on the ceiling and glared at it.

Slowly she sat up, without taking her eyes off the spider, and grabbed one of Donnie's books that were lying on the bed next to her. She wasn't scared of spiders, just greatly disliked them. Okay maybe she was a little scared. She aimed the book at the spot on the ceiling where the spider resided and threw it as hard as she could. The book hit the ceiling with a loud thud and fell back onto her bed. Cori looked around for the spider on the ceiling but didn't see it. She relaxed and picked up the book she had thrown. Out of the corner of her eye she saw something move and looked at the book she was holding.

On top of it was the spider she had tried to kill.

She gave a little scream and threw the book across the room. Cori accidently lost her balance while throwing it though and fell off the bed and onto the floor. "Ooooowwww…" There was a sound of someone running and the door was flung open. April stood at the entrance with eyes full of concern. "What happened? What's wrong?" She looked down at Cori and gave her a questioning look. "No really, why are you on the floor."

"There was a spider that is strangely invulnerable to books being thrown at it," Cori responded. April sighed and yelled "False alarm!" Cori heard a few groans and an "Again?" "False alarm? The spider could have killed me! Maybe it was a black widow." "Yes, I'm sure that was what would have happened," April said as she helped Cori off the floor. She sat her down on her bed and was about to leave when Cori said quietly "Wait, don't leave." April looked over her shoulder and stared at her.

Cori started to play with her hair nervously as she asked "I want to go back to my apartment. To get some stuff. But I don't think the guys will let me." April turned around and said "You'll have to ask the guys. And besides, your leg might not be… fully functional."

April was somewhat right. The fight had left Cori weak and Karai stabbing her didn't really help walking wise. Cori scowled and flopped down on the bed with a sigh. "Of course you would say that," Cori muttered, "I can't do anything around here." "That's not what I meant! I mean—" April groaned. "This would be so much easier if I could tell you!" "Tell me what," Cori asked as she sat up. April bit her lips and said quietly "Look, I think you should go to your apartment because of a certain thing made by a certain someone which would make it possible but I can't tell you."

"What?" April looked like she was about to pull out her hair. "Maybe… I'll go ask if you're ready." "Ready for what?" April left the room without another word, leaving Cori to herself. Cori sighed and mumbled "Why is everyone always so mysterious around here?"

"CROW!" Cori almost jumped out of the bed. She stared at Mikey and noticed he was holding something behind his back. "Try not to give me a heart attack next time Mikey," Cori said. Mikey smiled sheepishly and apologized. "I have a present for you!" "Um, okay." Cori didn't know why but suddenly she got scared of his present. Mikey pulled out a single crutch behind his back and said "Don says you're ready to start walking again but apparently you won't be that good at it so we made a crutch for you and sorry but I may or may not have spilled glitter all over it by accident."

Mikey grinned widely and handed the crutch to Cori. It was an ordinary wooden crutch except for the fact that it was covered in sparkles and was splattered with multi-colored paint. Cori found herself smiling as she said "Thanks!" She took the crutch and slowly stood up. She almost fell if Mikey had not helped her up. Cori winced at the pain in her right leg but continued to walk out of the room. "So, how's walking again," Mikey asked. "It hurts… But it's better than staying in bed for the rest of my life," Cori replied. Mikey nodded but did not say anything else.

Once they were out of the hallway, Mikey shouted loudly "GUESS WHAT?" "Mikey! Can you please not burst my ear drums," a voice grumbled. Raph was sitting on the couch with Casey watching TV. Raph turned around and opened his mouth to say something when he noticed Cori. He smiled and stood up. "Raph what are you—" Casey looked at Cori and said "Oh. Hey." Raph climbed over the couch and rushed over to Cori. "Are you okay? We were worried— I mean, uh. Hey. You seem better." Raph's face flushed as he looked away.

"Yeah, I'm good," Cori said quietly, "Hey listen I want to—" Glad to see you're better. Cori looked around and saw Donnie walking with April out of his lab. Glad to see you still interrupt my own thoughts and have no clue what privacy is. Oh sorry. Because you've never done anything like that at all in your life. "Are you guys okay," April asked. "Are you guys having an intense staring contest," Mikey asked. Cori looked away in embarrassment. She hadn't realized that she was staring at Donatello. Donnie looked equally as embarrassed.

"Hey Donnie," Cori started, "I wanted to ask—" "I heard Mikey's shriek and wanted to know what happened," Leo said as he entered the room from the dojo. "I do not shriek!" Splinter followed Leo and said "It is good to see you walking again Cori." "Uh thanks but I was wondering if I could go to my apartment."

The room was quiet as the four turtles looked at each other. "I don't know Cori," Leonardo said, "You're not exactly—" "Recovered," Donnie said. "Oh come on," Cori said, "I can walk again. It'll just be a short trip!" "Why do you even want to go," Raph asked. "Yeah, it's not like you need your clothes or something. You already have some here," Mikey added. "I don't know. I just thought… I don't know maybe I could find something about my… About my mom."

"You seriously think you'd find some clues there or something," Casey said. "Casey!" April elbowed him in the ribs. "Well unless you got a better idea!" "Cori, we are going to find her," Donnie promised. "Yeah well you said that over a month ago and look where you're at! You're just as clueless as when you first started looking," Cori shouted. She felt a lump in her throat and blinked away tears. "Cori it'll just take some time," April said as she placed a hand on her shoulder, "I know how you're feeling right and I think that—"

Cori took a step back and yelled "No you don't! None of you understand how I'm feeling right now!"

"You think you're the only one whose family was taken away by the Kraang!?"

"It's not the same!"

"Don't give me that! I don't know if my dad is even alive!"

By now April and Cori were yelling at each other as loud as they could. "YOU WOULDN'T UNDERSTAND, NONE OF YOU WOULD!" "YOU THINK I DON'T KNOW HOW IT FEELS TO BE HUNTED DOWN BY THE KRAANG!? TO HAVE MY ONLY FAMILY TAKEN AWAY BY THEM!?" April glared at Cori and for awhile it was quiet. Cori wiped the tears off her face with her sleeve. She refused to cry in front of the others.

"Just shut up," she said in a small voice. "You think you are the only one when really you're—" "JUST SHUT UP!" Right then Cori punched April in the face. April stumbled back with a shocked expression. Even though Cori felt the majority of the pain April was still too shocked to do anything. "CORI!" April shook her head like she was waking up from a trance and punched Cori back. Cori staggered back and fell on the floor. April was about to kick her in the face when Donnie and Casey pulled her away from Cori.

The two girls glared at each other for awhile until Splinter said "You need to stop, now! You are not enemies. You are friends and should not be at each other throats." "Cori, what the heck," Leo said, "What were you thinking!?" Cori looked away from Leo and did not respond. April broke free of Donnie's and Casey's grip and stormed out of the lair. "Nice going," Casey mumbled as he ran after April. Cori, why did you— JUST GET OUT OF MY HEAD! Donnie flinched but didn't say anything else. He sighed and ran after Casey and April.

Cori sat up and looked up at Raph. He looked hurt; like he was the one Cori punched. Raphael frowned and turned to Leo. "C'mon, let's go on patrol or something." Leo nodded and glared at Cori while the two of them left. Cori watched them leave, hoping Raph would stay. He didn't. She turned back to find Splinter looming over her. "I didn't mean to," she started, "It just… happened." "It is not me who you should be apologizing to." With a look of disapproval, he left Cori and headed to the dojo.

Cori hugged her knees and was about to cry when she heard someone say "Hey, it's okay." She looked up to see Mikey standing in front of her. She hadn't realized that he was there. She just assumed he left with the others. "Why are you still here? You must hate me," Cori mumbled. Mikey winced at the words. Cori immediately regretted saying that. "I don't hate you," Mikey said quietly, "You're my best friend! Well besides Casey, April, Raph, Don, Leo, the pizza guy—"

"Mikey the pizza guy doesn't even know you exist."

"It doesn't matter if it's true friendship!"

Cori smiled and stood up. Or tried to stand up. Her leg wasn't exactly at best condition yet. Mikey grabbed her arm before she fell. "Thanks." "No prob." Mikey handed Cori her crutch.

"It's not your fault," Mikey said quietly as Cori fidgeted with her crutch. "What?" "It wasn't your fault. I mean the punching was because it was your hand I mean you physically punched her—" "Thanks," Cori said sarcastically. She started to head to her bedroom when Mikey blocked her path. "Mikey I don't—" "April shouldn't have yelled at you. I mean yeah she did go through this but that's all the more reason she shouldn't have started yelling. Like…"

Mikey looked at the ground, trying to find the right words. "April's gone through this. She knows what it's like to be involved with the Kraang. Neither of you shouldn't have yelled at each other but she should know better than to be like… like that. She knows how fragile people can be in those situations but she just ignored it. You know?" "Yeah I guess," Cori said.

She continued down the hallway and walked into her bedroom. She sat on her bed and dropped the crutch on the floor. Despite what Mikey had said she still hated herself. She never meant to act like that, it was just an accident. And now everyone hated her. "Are you okay?" Cori jumped and looked around. Sitting on the foot of the bed was Mikey. Cori thought she closed the door when she came in but apparently didn't.

"Mikey! How did you—" "Well I am a ninja. I'm supposed to be quiet," Mikey said with a smile. Cori looked away from him and said "Mikey I don't want to talk right now. I just want to be alone right—" "I'll take you there." Cori gave Mikey a questioning look. "I'll take you there. To you apartment if that's gonna cheer you up." For a moment Cori was filled with hope, but it quickly vanished. "But I can't walk. I say I can but I can't. You heard the others. I'm not… I'm not fully recovered yet." "Who said anything about walking," Mikey said. He had a large grin on his face and his eyes had a mischievous look to them. Cori did not know whether to be happy, or completely and utterly terrified.

Hehe, Cori is afraid of spiders. And who says girl fights are lame?

Well anyways I'd like to say sorry for not being active whatsoever for the past. What, months? Yeah sorry. I have just been really unmotivated to do anything so yeah. And also I have a question for you guys. Am I making Cori a Mary Sue or she already is one? Yes I know I ask this after one of the most drama filled chapters ever but seriously, is she becoming like a Mary Sue? As the author of the story I think everything I do cannot be wrong and that I am a literary genius. I mean I know all that's bologna but because of this attitude (I guess you'd call it) towards my stories, I can't exactly tell if something is bad or not. So please just tell me. I won't take offense or anything, I just want an honest opinion. Thanks!
