Chapter Four: Approaching Canon.
Sonoko felt like she was getting too used to seeing assassins' past as dreams. Instead of multiple people there were only two people in this dream. All she saw was assassin and another person. The other person was a white haired man who had blue eyes. They seemed to be involved in a fight and it was currently a stalemate. Sonoko was surprised when she realized assassin was managing to keep up with the mysterious person even though he was injured. She could see multiple deep and shallow cuts on him right now and he seemed to be lacking the speed and strength he had in other dreams. As the fight continued she could see assassin was slowly losing.
Assassin seemed to notice something and he started smirking. "Hey, how's it feel?"
The man didn't even stop attacking him but he still answered. "How's what feel."
Assassin seemed on the verge of laughing now. "How's it feel to realize you barely keep up with me even if I'm this injured."
The man's face showed a flash of anger and it disappeared. "It doesn't matter how it feels, you will die today."
"Better men have tried." Before the sentence was even done both were fighting again.
At first Sonoko could not understand what the point of assassin talking was but the longer the fight went on the more angry and clumsy the white haired man got. This went on until the man made a mistake and over extended his blade. The second that happened assassin capitalized on it and cut off the man's hand. The man jumped back as the scene turned black and Sonoko woke up.
Sonoko woke up and realized she was getting used to these dreams. She wasn't sure if that was a good or bad thing. Checking the clock she saw she only had 15 minutes to get dressed and leave for school. She immediately got dressed and within 5 minutes she was already eating breakfast in the living room without having to cook or anything. The main perks of having a servant.
"Bye assassin, If you want you can go outside and explore or something."
"Has all the training made you forget? I am coming to class with you."
She left for class after assassin dematerialized and before she knew it she was in the class. She was too busy thinking about the Holy Grail War so she zoned out and class ended relatively quickly. Looking up from her desk before she left she realized she wasn't the only one thinking a lot. She can see Tohsaka zoning in and out. Deciding to leave it alone she goes back home.
"Assassin, which servant do you think will be summoned next, and who do you think the master is going to be."
"If I recall correctly the grail said artifacts of a hero's legend can be used to summon a certain spirit. Using this logic any master could get the class they want other than the ones that's already taken. I'm sure you should know that as you are a master."
Sonoko looked very surprised before she turned away "I totally forgot about that."
"So, what are we going to do today master?"
"I plan on practicing my magecraft more and if you have nothing better to do you can spar with me."
"That seems like a good idea. It's not like I can go killing servants without all seven summoned."
Sonoko leads the assassin to a big dojo with runes placed on it to prevent damage.
"Try to go at a level I can learn from, don't just come with the intent to kill."
"Okay master." Assassin doesn't seem to move in the slightest. He just has a confident aura and a smug/amused look on him. This irked Sonoko so she decided to make the first move. Carefully using Prana to reinforce her legs she rushed at him aiming to hit him in the head. Right before the attack connected Sonoko hit the ground with assassin's foot on her back.
He gets off her. "Lesson number one, Don't blindly charge at an opponent faster than you, they will probably counter."
Sonoko tries formulating a plan and she attacks again only to be blocked every time. She gets angry and yells "Stop blocking all my attacks, just let me hit you."
"There is no point in this training session if I just let you hit me. Also I am redirecting you not blocking."
"Redirecting is just another word for blocking, there basically the same thing."
Assassin looks somewhat annoyed. "There's a big difference. When blocking you still feel the impact and force. If you redirect, you avoid most of those."
"They both avoid damage, so they're basically the same."
After thinking for a while, the Assassin figures out what to do.
"Master, try blocking this hit" He runs toward Sonoko at a moderate pace and throws a punch at her face. Sonoko rushes to block it and when she does she is still thrown back by the force of the punch.
"Now master, try to use your arm to make the fist go to the left a little" He goes toward her again though he is slower now. She tried what he said and she was shocked when the hand just barely missed her face.
"That is the difference between blocking and redirecting. In my opinion blocking should only be used for times when you can not redirect."
Sonoko's face lit up as she realized something. "That's how you use your sword isn't it. You just redirect the opponent's weapon and strike them while they are open."
Assassin looked somewhat amused. "Did it take you that long to realize that? I thought you were smart enough to realize that."
Sonoko looks somewhat red now. "It's not my fault you were moving so fast that I couldn't see it!"
"Enough with the complaining, master, I think you should practice basic hand to hand combat before you try to practice magecraft."
"Okay assassin, only if you help. Hand to hand combat sucks without someone there."
"I shall help you when you want. Now you should probably go to bed. You have class tomorrow and it's already 12."
Sonoko looks at the clock and starts frantically running away. "Why's it so late already! I have to go shower and sleep soon. Bye assassin."
After Sonoko left, assassin went outside to see if any master summoned a servant or if they were servants roaming the streets. While outside he could see some people walking but due to the time it was the streets were mostly empty.
While walking he noticed a child that wasn't in the city a couple days ago. Using presence concealment he hid and got a closer look at the child. She had pale skin, white hair and red eyes. Assassin was able to figure out that this person was most likely a master due to her unnatural appearance and the time she arrived in the city.
He watched her for a while and he decided to leave since he did not want to fight an unknown servant. He went home and figured he'd ask his master about the child when she woke up.
After waiting for a while, Sonoko came out of her room dressed for class. Assassin thinking how there's no point in delaying, told her what he found.
"Master, do you know anything about people with pale skin, white hair and red eyes?"
Sonoko closed her eyes as if trying to remember something. "Yeah. I think there was a magus family that created homunculi that fit the description. If I remember correctly they were the Einzbern family. They, along with the Tohsaka and Makiri, created the Holy Grail."
"I see, that kid is most likely a master then. What do you want me to do about her?"
"Just leave her alone for now. She probably has a servant already and all seven servants are not summoned yet."
After the assassin dematerialized they went to school. They decided to come at a regular time instead of being early. This was to make sure if a master came to class and sensed him they wouldn't know who's servant he is.
When they arrive in class the first thing that the assassin notices is that there is another servant here.
'Master, Don't panic but there's another servant in the school.'
'Wait what. Where is the other servant?'
'In this class most likely. Make sure not to act any differently than usual. Also have fun on your test' Sonoko could almost feel him smirking at her.
'Okay.'
Assassin travels around the school so the servant doesn't know which class his master comes from. While traveling around the school he encounters the Emiya kid using magecraft to look at a broken heater.
Assassin immediately recognizes the spell for structural grasping items. He decides to watch the Emiya kid for a bit longer. While in the room he realizes the servant is getting closer until it's literally on the other side of the door. He looks out and he notices Tohsaka there. Assassin walks away after realizing Tohsaka is the one that summoned a servant.
After a while class ends and Sonoko is packing up her belongings getting ready to leave when assassin mentions how he should probably stay here looking for which servant was summoned.
Sonoko mentions how she should stay with him but he refuses saying it's better if she went home so no one knows he's her servant. She ends up countering by saying how the lancer already knows the fact that the assassin is her servant. They end up staying in the area of the school.
Assassin ends up looking at the school until he sees the lancer and the other servant reveal themselves. Since he was using presence concealment instead of dematerializing no one other than his master knew he was here.
The 2 servants start fighting and he figures out the other servant is an archer due to Tohsaka calling him archer. He realizes lancer is issuing a challenge to any heroic spirit in the area. After thinking for a while assassin realizes he has to reveal himself because sabers are usually honorable and whatnot.
"Master, we should probably get down there and respond to lancer's challenge."
Sonoko looks bewildered. "Why? Isn't it better to just watch then leave this area."
Assassin sighs as he responds. "Unfortunately as I am masquerading as a saber I must act like one. This means I must respond to any challenge given and fight with honor."
Sonoko thinks for a while then decides. "Okay let's go saber. We have a challenge to respond to."
Assassin picks Sonoko up and runs to the area where the archer and lancer are fighting. When he arrived both groups were immediately on guard and were staring at him.
Assassin was the first one to break the silence. "It seems you already have a fight going on lancer."
"Oh, I see you decided to respond to my challenge saber. This archer isn't that entertaining so I was hoping someone else would come."
The archer finally decides to speak. "While these two servants fight we should leave master."
Tohsaka looks annoyed at her servant. "We should stay and watch what they can do then we could leave."
Assassin decides to subtly ruin the archer's plan by making him fight the lancer again. "Unfortunately I can not fight you lancer as you have another fight going on. After you finish the fight with the archer we can fight."
Lancer grins and starts speaking. "Fine by me. You better not run away though."
As lancer and archer got into position again a noise was heard from the side of the yard. As soon as it was heard everyone turned their heads to see a red haired boy in the school uniform standing there.
Lancer immediately started running towards the boy aiming to kill him. Tohsaka notices this and tells her servant to help the boy. Sonoko, also planning on helping the boy tells assassin to stop lancer.
Assassin immediately disappears from view as he starts running at a moderate pace for a servant. When he gets there the boy is already dead and the lancer is gone. He notices archer coming to the hallway too.
As Sonoko arrives assassin said "Lancer was too fast for me and he ended up killing the boy. Now that lancer left I say we should leave this area soon master."
Sonoko looks surprised at the dead body. "Yeah lets go saber. Take me home."
Before they leave they manage to see Tohsaka heal the boy and go away.
When they return home Sonoko goes into her room to get some sleep. After a while she realizes after lancer notices the boy isn't dead he'll go to finish the job and kill him again. While she doesn't care what happens to the boy she admits that the war will be easier if he is one of the master's instead of a corrupt mage.
Sonoko rushes to the living room looking for assassin. "Assassin, take me and run to Emiya's house. We have to make sure he survives the war."
Assassin appears behind her and starts running towards the destination. "So why do you want to save him master? I hope for your sake you didn't catch feelings for him."
Sonoko immediately looks appalled at what he said. "NO, I did not catch feelings for him. I just realized it's better to have him as a master than someone else."
Assassin can now see the house he has to go to. He can sense lancer in the house. When assassin makes it to the house he sees lancer fighting with another servant.
"Master, taking a look at that servant I am certain she is the actual saber of the war."
"It's fine, It'll confuse more people if they are 2 sabers."
As assassin gets closer he sees them fighting. As of right now saber was pushing lancer back and everytime they traded blows lancer seemed to be on the losing end. It seems like saber would easily win this until lancer aimed his spear at the ground and shouted the name of his noble phantasm "Gáe Bolg". After this was said saber tried to block it and she managed to redirect it to a less lethal area instead of her heart.
Assassin finally makes himself known. He walks into the area they were fighting in. "So that is your name lancer. Cu Chulainn. Also known as Ireland's child of light."
Lancer looks in assassin's direction "Saber as much as I want to fight you again it seems like I can't do that today. My master had ordered me to withdraw." Lancer then starts running away and before he could go he looks back and says "Any of you can try to chase me but just know, If you do I will kill you.". Before long, the lancer is gone and saber starts looking at assassin as she readies her sword.
A/N: This is the Fourth chapter of my story. This chapter was just the timeline going into canon time. In the chapter we see sabers summoning and lancer vs archer. I would have tried to fit an assassin vs another servant in this chapter but the next chapter starts off with a small assassin vs saber and depending on the length of the chapter an assassin vs berserker.
Comment are appreciated, bye
