Reporters and journalists were swarming the Hall of Justice, recording and listening to Superman's words as he welcomed six new heroes into The Justice League.
This seemed like heavy nostalgia. It was only five years ago that he stood in the Hall's library with his friends watching the induction ceremony, a few months after they formed the Team. Now he was standing back in the Hall of Justice, watching two of his friends be inducted into the League.
He and Zatanna were always close when they lived at the Cave. They were best friends even when they started dating and even when they broke up. They've always been together and close. She's still the light of his life and his most trusted friend next to Wally.
With her being inducted into the League, he feels a little bitter. They all were asked to join and he declined so it wasn't like he didn't have a choice in the matter. But while he and the others declined the invitation, Zatanna and Raquel accepted.
Of course he knew why she accepted. She felt that it was the only way she could get close to Doctor Fate. She felt that if she joined the League then maybe she could find a way to release her father from the helmet. He couldn't blame her for just wanting her father back. Who was he to stop her.
Batman presented her with her Justice League ID. Zatanna has become like a daughter to Bruce during the last two years she's spent at the manor; to Alfed as well. To see his father be the one to officially welcome her into the Justice League, it made him happy. Especially seeing her blinding sime when the League ID was passed into her hands.
So even if maybe he wouldn't be able to see her as much as he used to, he's proud of her.
