I wake up early in the morning to a knock on the door. Like every other morning here. Riley and I get up and get ready. Any of the girls who don't get up miss breakfast. Some will even miss their first classes. They end up having to make up the time on the weekend while everyone else is in the village. I have never missed my classes. Riley and I always make sure the other is up in time. I get changed into my uniform. A white top, black skirt, white socks, and black shoes. We all wear the same thing. Time for breakfast. Riley and I both head to the cafeteria.
"How was your sleep?" Riley asks me
"Actually, pretty good." I say "I am super excited to meet my mate for the first time. How about you?"
"I had a really good sleep." She said we get to the cafeteria quickly eat our breakfast then head to class. Riley and I go and sit beside each other. Rebecca sits in front of us and her roommate Yali.
"Alright class." Lucian our teacher says. "Quiet down" The class goes quiet. "Today you will be learning about the Volturi. You have grown up hearing all about their previous missions, but you have never been told how to either join or avoid being on the receiving end."
This is going to be a long class.
"There are two training facilities in the world for the Volturi. One is for newborns run by Major and Captain Whitlock. The other is in Volterra, Italy." The teacher keeps lecturing about the Volturi till lunch. "Just remember girls the Volturi are not villain's they are the backbone of our civilization. they are the foundation of peace in the supernatural world."
We all leave and go to lunch. The day seems to be passing quickly. I really want it to hurry up. We do have how to be mated class next. We generally only go through two classes a day. We have vampire history and knowledge and we have how to be mated. I don't mind how to be mated. Its not a bad class.
Riley and I head to our room to go pick up our journals. Then we walk to class and go sit in our spots.
"Welcome to Mating 101" Heidi says. "You all know how mating is done and what to do in some situations, but do you know what happens when you have a very dominant mate?" Heidi walks around the class as she talks.
"Did you write in your journals a bit about your mates' personality? You would be able to tell a bit from the way they write you?" We all nod to her "Good you will share it with the class."
"My mate seems to be a little more on the submissive side. He does seem to take charge when things are unsafe, but other then that he is submissive."
"My mate is dominant to a point he likes to be in control but not all the time."
"My mate is neither. He seems to just let what happens happen."
"My mate is a nomad so he doesn't really have much contact with others so I couldn't say much. If he does have contact with others he doesn't stay."
"Talia, your mate would have given you some sort of sign in the way he writes to you. He also has to have contact with vampires to know that you are his mate and to mail your letters." Heidi says disappointedly "You will be redoing the assignment this weekend while everyone is in the village. Riley your turn."
"My mate is dominant. He tends to take on a more submissive stance, but he is dominant." Riley says
"Good job, Riley" Heidi congratulates "Your turn, Athena."
"My mate is extremely dominant." I say "He is will be quiet and hang out in the back, but that is because he is analyzing everything and controlling the atmosphere."
"Nice detail, Athena" Heidi praises. "Alright, I want you to write a letter to your mates. Write them your dream first date. Where do you want to be taken? What would you like to do?"
I look down at my journal
Dear JW,
My assignment today is to tell you all about my dream first date. My dream first day would be a most of the day type thing. I would love to go horseback riding around the property. I would want to ride on a horse with you, as I have never ridden one before.
In the evening right before the sun sets, I would want to fill the truck bed with pillows and blankets and watch the sunset from inside the truck bed. I would also want to watch the stars and get to know you more. We would be able to tell each other things about the world and each other. Things that we don't know.

I finish up and close my journal. I sit with my hand over my journal. Heidi walks over "Are you finished, Athena?"
"Yeah, I did. Do you want to see?" I ask her.
"No, I don't need to see what you wrote. That is between you and your mate." She explains to me "Are you excited for tomorrow?"
"I am very excited tomorrow. Is there anything I should know about tomorrow?" I ask her.
"You will be able to sleep in, like you can do for every birthday. When you wake up your mate will be there to get to know you. You will then give him your journal, he will either read it with you or when you go to sleep." She explains to me.
"What would I do when he is here?" I ask
"You will get to talk to him alone in your room when you first wake, then you will get to go eat. He will come talk with us and get your file from your years here. You and he will get to pack your stuff, then spend time in the main room till dinner. He will be introduced to everyone at dinner. You will get to say bye to everyone then leave to the next step of the rest of your life." Heidi says gently to me.
"I'm leaving tomorrow"
"Yes, you will be." She says "Alright class you're all done. Off to dinner you go" She dismisses.
We go to dinner. All the girls are talking. I am lost in my thoughts about what is to happen tomorrow. I really hope he is perfect. Before I know it, dinner is over and we are on our way to the main room. We all sit on the couch. I'm still lost in thought thinking of JW. It's finally bedtime. I quickly go to my room and change then crawl into bed. Riley crawls into bed as well.
"Night, Athena. Happy Birthday!" She tells me
"Night, Riley." I reply. I close my eyes and fall asleep fast.
