Silence.
Silence was the only thing David heard when he awoke. Not her breathing, the little noises she makes as if nothing from her thoughts.
David stood from his spot on the floor, looking toward his brothers. Marko was already moving to the steps to the basement, looking back to David for the 'ok' to go check on Angel, obviously.
Dwayne wasn't there. Interesting.
"I'm starving." Paul yawned, stretching high. "can we get a bite to eat?"
"Maybe." David answered. "did you see Dwayne get up?"
"I haven't seen him. He wasn't beside me."
"David," Marko said from the top of the stairs. David walked up and saw him with a paper in his hand. His jacket he'd left in her room was now at the table on a chair.
He took the note looking down at the letter and reading its contents.
"Don't let David come after me."
He handed the note back to Marko.
"why would she leave?" he asked, clearly upset. "where do you think she went?"
"you think home?" Paul said. Marko shook his head. David ignored them, looking down at his jacket and then outside toward the upcoming dark.
"are you boys rested up?" the old man asked, walking into the kitchen. His dog gave them a low growl as they passed.
"yes. Sir." Marko answered.
"Are you boys hungry?"
"starved." Paul smiled. Marko knocked on his shoulder.
"well, you're welcome to anything in the kitchen."
"do you know where Angel went?" David asked him, turning slowly.
"she didn't say where, but it was she did earlier today, saying something about her family, brothers, I believe."
"did our friend leave with her?" Marko questioned next.
"together? No. he left a little after she did. Saying he was going after her. Here eat, eat!" the man handed Paul and Marko food. A silver package of pop tarts. When the old man went over to David, he handed him an apple from the table. David looked down at it and at the man's hand as he handed it to him. "she had a lot to say about you."
David's head turned slightly with interest.
He dropped it into David's hand. "she really cares about you," he paused. "all of you."
Marko smiled slightly, and Paul even grinned toward him like an idiot. Marko rolled his eyes, turning back to David. "David, we need to go find her. She probably went to find Emma." Marko said, waiting for David's answer.
David agreed by nodding. Thinking of a plan of action. "let's go. Leave the bikes here…if that is alright." David asked, looking straight into the old man.
"yes. Your things will be fine."
David grabbed his jacket, put the apple inside, and walked past Paul, who followed, showing the pop tart package in his hand. "can't believe they still have these."
"Thanks for letting us stay here," Marko told the old man before following David and Paul, but he grabbed his arm. Marko looked back at him and took a small step back because the old man's face became more serious, holding his cross between his fingers.
"I fear for her. She is a good person, and I have a bad feeling something bad is about to happen."
Marko shallowed as he listened, wanting to pull his arm away from him.
"I'm very observant. And can tell you care much more for her. I may stand here and pretend. I don't know what you are, but. I know she'll be alright with you. Take care of her." this time, he let him go, and Marko moved away, watching as the old man moved to his living room. "I hope I see her again."
Marko closed the garage shut and left the house fast to Where David and Paul waited for him in the sky.
"what's up, man?" Paul asked, seeing Marko's twisted expression.
"nothing." But Marko was feeling more uneasy than before. At least when they were at the club, he could still faintly sense her somehow now that she wasn't anywhere around him. There was nothing.
"where are we searching first?" Paul said.
"We could split up." Marko answered. "we can cover more ground if we're fast.
David looked out into the night from where they were and could see the whole city. "Alright." He took off his glove, putting them into his pocket, and held out his hand. Marco and Paul bit into their hands, letting their blood pool there. It made it easy for him to hear them. It would work for a short time because vampire blood wasn't as lively as humans. He would at least hear them. "tell me if you find anything, but if you don't, meet at the boardwalk. I'll go check the Emerson's house."
Marko and Paul quickly vanished, and David left to himself, exhaling deeply from his newly lit cigarette. "Fuck." He breathed, onto the Emerson House.
The house was quiet except for two voices near the back of the house. Michael and Star were arguing in the kitchen. David scoffed but moved to the other side to hear. He moved in close, keeping from being seen.
"Star stop! I'll take care of it." Michael said, grabbing stuff off the table and putting it away. "sit and eat. You haven't eaten in days."
"eat? I can't eat anything! Our children are still missing Michael!" she retorted and continued to clean the dishes roughly. Knowing there wasn't anything else for him to do, Michael sat down at the table, picking at the food on the table.
"I know that, Star. You don't think I'm as worried? The help we need right now." Sam said to wait till he came back with whoever or whatever it was they needed.
A set of footsteps came into the kitchen from the woman he'd seen from the boardwalk. The one who had come with Michael's brother Sam.
"Sam texted. Said that they made it to Alan's friend's house- "
Realizing that no one else was home, David flew off. Going toward the boardwalk.
Paul had flown quick around other neighborhoods where that girl's house was listening, sensing for anything. Even though it had been a while since he'd had any of Angel's blood. He wouldn't forget the way she smelled.
Marko went around to other extensive areas and abandoned beaches. Marko even flew to their cave. It was silent except for the wildlife around it. He landed inside and walked over to the hole Amorita was in and looked down to her asleep. Even though he didn't care for her, her death probably wouldn't be a good thing right now based on who she was. And he didn't wasn't to deal with that. He pulled her out, laying her down on one of the couches. He tapped and pushed her till she stirred awake. Her eyes were red and puffy, widened to him. "you here to finally kill me?"
"no. maybe not." he tossed her the pop tarts he had from the house, which landed on her lap. She had to sit up to look at it with confusion. "listen, if you know what's good for you, don't leave the cave till we come back."
"and why would I do what you say? Because I don't give a damn-" he moved so quickly to be right atop her. Hands were holding her face, knees keeping him upright. His left hand held her face down while his other started to reach for one of her eyes. "DON'T YOU DARE!" she tried to close her eyes, but his finger kept the lids open as he dug in to get her contacts out. Each one. Her eyes watered after he took them out, but before releasing her, he would make her listen.
"stay in the cave. Relax. Till I come back." He released her, and she sat up, glaring at him.
"son of a- "she shouted, but he had already left to listen to the rest of her yelling.
Marko was the fastest moving around and around. But didn't sense anything till he caught something toward the sea. He looked out and saw a few boats out in the distance. He quickly told David and went straight toward the boardwalk.
It was busy, and Marko Paced till David appeared.
"Paul's almost here. What did you get?"
"one of the boats out there. She has to be on one of them."
"over here, Paul," David said. He moved to the edge, closed his eyes, and sensed for her, and there she was.
"I'm here, I'm here," Paul said, running up. "Anything?"
"Maybe come on. Let's go. Lead the way, Marko."
XXX
Seeing David, Marko and Paul there now brought a sense of relief to Angel. She hoped it wasn't just a fever dream as she felt unwell and a bit hazy. Even so, it made it easier for her to breathe again.
David was scanning the room when his eye fell on Angel, trying to sit up. She was Weak, her cheeks strained from crying. Bruised and bloody, which he could smell as they got closer. When his eyes dropped to where the source was. His whole demeanor changed. Replaced with rage. He tore off his jacket tossing it on a chair beside him. Pushing up his sleeves. Popping all his knuckles on his hands.
"you have the fucking NERVE to touch her again." David fumed. Mathew was on the floor before he could even blink, being pressed so hard down by the throat that the deck started to cave in on itself. Shifting the floorboards under everyone's feet.
"you can't kill me." Mathew smiled, his hands gripping David's that was squeezing his neck.
"Wanna bet," David answered, breaking Mathew's windpipe. His face turned a deep shade of red, and his smile disappeared.
Paul stood between Emma and them, who was trying to get in to help her brother.
Marko moved quickly to Angel. Needing to get to her was his goal. His heart ached to see her the way she was. He needed to hold her tight and get her away. He stopped just at the back of the couch, getting face to face with a small man couched on the back like a perched bird. Grinning madly and covered in blood, having killed whoever else was on the ship.
"hiya. I really like the jacket. Vintage, right?" He said, waving his hand close to Marko's face. Marko knocked it away. Marko's eyes drifted back down to Angel, who laid her head against the back of the couch. Her eyes were wide open, however, clearly exhausted.
The two goon guards held guns toward the new vampires, not their own side. The big goon comes back into the room with an even better gun cocked and ready to fire.
From the other side of the room, Nicoili came crashing through, knocking into the group of goons, all falling to the floor. Dwayne came in after soaking wet. His mouth pulled to a grin seeing the boys.
"Where you been?" Paul said from across the room.
"playing tag with him out there." He pointed to Nicoili, pushing himself up from the pile of bodies under him. He groaned loudly, irritated as he looked down at his wet suit.
David's strength was powered by his rage, fueling him to keep Mathew down like the dog he was. He wanted to tear him to pieces this time, making sure he DOESN'T come back ever again.
He was angry and understood why because he never did before. How could she just leave? He felt a little betrayed. She was right to feel what they were about to do wrong because it was. But she still cared. Which must have made her upset too. At least she didn't go to her family. No. she had to go for her brothers instead. And get yourself into even more trouble… this girl. He grinned a little. Maybe she was braver than he thought. She was not Star. He'd take care with them, at least after they resolved this shitshow.
"Boys! Boys!" Russell returned, hands up. "David. Please let him go, and I will explain everything. I am Russell." David turned to Russell, his eyebrow lifted. He rolled his eyes down at Matthew and hesitantly released him. Mathew slowly got back up; David just pushed him back down.
"do you know who I am?" Russell asked, a grin on his face.
"Max," David paused. "he told me he had a family of 13 but the same maker. And he…has said your name before, but he never really talked much about it."
"yes, well… there's only 5 of us left. Things weren't what they should have been. We weren't united; my brothers and sisters thought of only power and of themselves. Making them targets of their own ambitions. We remaining have become stronger now that we have fixed our mistakes. Max was the last of us killed. It broke me. When I found out you and others were also no more. I needed to make a change which brought the rest of us together. We thought we were next and needed it to be prepared.
"as for who killed you all. At the time hadn't a clue, I had tried to figure out who it was, but they were good…good at hiding till they grew up and became brave coming for the rest of us individually. The Frog Brothers. Ridiculous fools but hard to kill. It didn't help that they had a lot of friends, young and old. Also assisting in their organization to bring us down. It wasn't until 1 in my family got ahold of something interesting, a comic book.
That. Damn. Comic book.
"The Emersons. A bunch of children. If I had known, I would have destroyed them then, but, in my grief and in finding the rest of my family, I was a bit busy. You know, running businesses isn't what it's cracked up to be. Max was the master of that field which I had to take over."
"And when I sensed your presence. The moment you were alive and had to come myself. And I am sorry I know I should have come sooner. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Max used to talk about you boys all the time and your lives at the boardwalk. And how you all met. I even hear two of you have abilities from such an early age. That is truly amazing."
David eyed Russell closely, listening because he didn't know much about Max. It was interesting to hear more about him. "I guess. He never talked much about it. It seemed normal to him and to us."
"You are far from normal. Max unfortunately never truly understood, but You see, we vampires come from God." He grinned. "So many depictions of the folklore of where vampires were first created or started. From what I understand, when God entrusted his son onto the earth, God himself was betrayed by a fellow Angel who got banished and came to earth as a cursed creature. He had his way with so many humans' blood so godly that it moved through other vampires, in turn giving them abilities. Truly magnificent. I tried again explaining to Max that you all belonged with the family. He disagreed for some reason, and Our conversations stopped 2 weeks before his death."
"Max liked the boardwalk. He said it made him feel human." David said.
"human?" Russell repeated. "That is why you boys, and he should have come back to the family a while ago. Listen, I will explain more once we've left this place."
"leave?" Paul questioned.
"yes, I have many homes, many hotels pretty much everywhere. And you boys are coming with me to the rest of the family."
"no," David answered flatly.
"no?" Russell turned a bit upset from David's harsh response.
"I'm not going anywhere he does." Nodding at a smirking Mathew. "I'll be happy to kill him again."
"They," indicating Emma and Matthew. "are the last of my human family. And I'm afraid aren't going anywhere. We can try and fix the problems."
"I don't care," David said, glaring at Mathew.
Angel's heart skipped a beat. Angel knew he didn't mean it. She truly believed what David told her last night was the truth. And he was over it. He would give in the Russell.
"for her? There are plenty more- "
"I need her- "David interrupted. "to get back at Michael."
Russell smiled and nodded. "that's good. I swear great minds think alike." that's why we aren't leaving till they are dead."
"I don't need your help. We can manage the Emersons. This time."
"headstrong. I can appreciate that, but as I already know from before, you had perished. And with mostly children. You may have turned over 30 years ago. However, You don't have the experience. You see, Nicoili and Robbie are my very best at combat. While my Lily can inflict different kinds of pain and damage on anyone. Shocks, drowning, suffocation. You get it. And my Rose," turning to both women in the back of the room away from the chaos. "can heal, but at a price. This took them years to master." Hearing Russell explain so much about so little put David and the boys on edge.
She suddenly felt pained. Her fault, all her fault. This was all a mistake she had helped bring about. Mom and dad are going to die. George and Luke are probably dying, but they could be sleeping all tied to their chairs. They were on their way because she had to leave the message to Laddie.
Angel pushed herself off the couch. Her head was spinning, holding her stomach as she grew sick. She looked down at the floor to keep stable, and she could hear the clinks from his black boots before appearing to her. When she slowly looked up, David was there looking down at her, and he could see the discomfort on her face. He bent down. His hand went to her neck, where it continued to bleed slightly because it wasn't healed afterward. His face twisted in anger.
"She was mine. My bate for the Emersons, and he could have killed her." David said, turning to glare at Mathew.
Mathew only laughed.
"Mathew, don't," Russell said.
"and I'd taste her again. She was so sweet," he said, licking his lips. Russell rubbed his face.
Angel pushed away as David knocked Mathew atop the glass table in the middle of the sitting area. She turned away as glass flew everywhere and crawled behind the couch after Mathew leaping back up.
Her stomach was still rolling, and she almost wanted to quit. Those negative thoughts were rolling through her head.
The boys all took part in blocking away any other movement attempts from the other vampires. Marko kept an eye on Robbie while Paul stood with Dwayne, who grinned toward Nicoili and Emma.
"enough now, David. We can work this out." David ignored him and focused on one thing holding his arm back high for a killing blow.
"STOP!"
Everyone all turned to Emma, standing in the middle of the room. Her attention on David. "let him go." David dropped him confusingly.
Even Emma's face twitches, followed by a smile. Her eyes went to the boys now. "stand over there?" She said, unsure, and the boys moved across the room. Emma's grin grew wider, and she giggled, almost wanting to jump up and down like a child.
"interesting." Russell said looking to everyone who stopped in their tracks. "I guess you've found a gift, my sweet. Able to make someone, anyone in fact, and multiple at that to do as you will."
Emma stopped her excitement to speak to him. "I want to kill her." Her eyes were burning bright red, staring straight at Angel.
"Emma- "Mathew said through clenched teeth.
"quiet, Mathew," she ordered, not even looking toward him like Russell thought. His mouth shut uptight.
"Uncle, let me kill her."
"Alright." He answered, realizing it even worked on him, an answer he tried not to give.
Angel had finally made it back to her feet, wanting far away from Emma's prowl. And David was there standing in front of her, and she touched his arm for stability.
"you're not doing anything to her." He defended, taking a step back into her to feel her against his back.
Emma smiled, her crazy eyes looking up at him. "Do you care about her?"
David swallowed. "yes." Angel's cheeks heated. She gripped his arm harder, her hand wanting to touch his.
"hmmm. Well, what if you didn't." David straightened, looking away to ignore. "in fact, you HATE her." Angel's breath hitched her attention that had been on Emma was on David walking out of her grip.
"David?" Angel spoke softly. He turned to her, his mouth twisted into disgust at her. She felt in the pit of her stomach a coil of uneasiness. Her chest ached, seeing it happen and telling herself it was all Emma doing.
"wait, wait." She started making David stop. "What if... you just kill her?" she laughed. Making angels turn in horror to Emma. Her gaze moved from Emma to David, who turned back to her, face quickly changing vampiric, which gave her a chill.
"no!" she breathed, "don't listen to her," Angel said as she backed away, tripping over her feet onto the floor.
"David, DON'T!" Marko yelled, unable to move from his spot, his jaw being shut suddenly by Robbie standing next to him. Marko tried to pry him off, While also trying to lift his feet which wouldn't move an inch.
"she's in your head!" Dwayne shouted. Nicoili leaning on the wall beside them grinned at his and Paul's persistent attempts to move.
All the boys wanted to do something, move from their spot that they were glued in. If it weren't for Emma. But all they could do was watch. As Angel did. Knowing that she was in danger and couldn't do anything.
David ignored them both, moving forward to Angel, who was pushing herself farther back, but he Leaned over and picked Angel up by the neck, lifting her from the floor. Her hands clawed at his hand as it continued to squeeze tight. She was choking. She could even feel her eyes as they were about to pop.
"David." she cried, barely audible.
Emma's voice spoke before the lights went out. "hold on." Walking over to David, her hand gliding across his arm to his chest. "Drop her."
Angel fell to a pile on the floor, gulping for air as She quickly moved away, hitting the front of the wall. "I won't let you have the fun of killing her. I wanted to do it myself. I just wanted to see if you would really do it. Here's another test. How about we turn it up a notch?" Emma sauntered around, looking toward Angel sadistically to stand in front of David. "Why don't you Kiss me."
Angel was already a mess, shaking uncontrollably, her face and neck hurting, and not wanting to look up, but she couldn't stop herself.
David moved his hands up to Emma's face, and the Angel had hoped they were to smash it in, but they pulled her into a soft kiss, and Angel couldn't hold back her tears pooling at the edge. gentle movements like of a first kiss, like when he had first kissed Angel peeled her eyes away and shook her head. 'it isn't real.' She wiped her face composing herself to the disbelief.
Emma pulled away just a look down at Angel's disgust toward her. Emma must have felt the hatred aimed at her because she turned away slightly from David's pressed kisses. "aw, what's wrong, Angel? You don't like this?" She pouted, grabbing his chin quickly to bring him closer. "kiss me like you love me." She said through clenched teeth.
David pulled her close and grinned happily, his hand moving under Emma's head, fingers running through her hair. Moved along her face down to her neck. He kissed her along her jaw up to her mouth, where their mouths interlocked.
Angel looked away, trying to ignore hearing moans from Emma, though hard as it was. It was difficult because it was so quiet except for the ocean waves and the sounds from the mouths.
'NO fuck her!' Angel started to laugh, which made them stop.
"what's so funny?"
"you. A desperate piece of trash, desperate for attention, it's hilarious. He wouldn't be doing any of this. He would never lower himself to do something this disgusting with a shank like you."
Emma flared, pushing David away. "I think we'd make a lovely couple." She tried to push in.
"You're more delusional than I thought. That gift of yours was just an unfortunate mistake given to a two-time whore- "
So fast, Emma picked Angel up from the floor, pulling her to be face to face. Watched the curves of her vampire form before her.
"Emma, we don't have time for this," Russell told her.
"Don't worry, Uncle, it will end very soon." He turned away, whispering to the two women.
When Emma Gave Angel back her attention. Angel had her arm back, the knife From the Frog's Shop clutched in her hands. And in a quick move plunged it into Emma's eye, and Emma began screaming bloody murder dropping her. Even though she wanted to use it on Matthew multiple times, something within her told her to wait.
David, as did everyone else, broke their trance.
David's first clear thought was Angel. He remembered it all, the loneliness he felt toward her, the hate seeing her face terrified as he approached, grabbing her neck. He couldn't stop himself, mentally yelling to stop. To see her face going from sweet pink to red as fire. He could be a slight tremble in his hands, feeling the blood rush through. He wanted to kill her and drink her dry. If it weren't for Emma stopping him when she did, Angel wouldn't be there. For the first time, he felt sick. It was all wrong to harm her and then kiss that woman.
Angel. He wanted to follow his knees to her and hold her. His blue eyes looked back from his hands to her, but she wasn't looking at him, set up at her real threat.
Emma. Just before he could save Angel take her away from all of this, her brothers. His brothers. Needed safety too. And he needed to deal with the bigger threat at the moment.
His hand gripped Emma's shoulder to pull her back, but another hand knocked him away. "I don't think so." Matthew interrupted, standing in front of David to keep him from getting to Emma. She had fallen to her knees, clutching at her face, attempting to pull the knife out from her socket.
"You really are itching to die. Again, but As much as it kills me to say this, I'm willing to push all this aside you if just let us walk out now."
"Mathew, not one more word! David, can't we talk?" Russell asked.
"I thought we did," David answered.
Dwayne and Paul stood behind David. As Nicoili and Robbie did the same, waiting for their master to say something. It gave Marko a chance to escape from Robbie's prowling eyes to move over to Angel catching a break to hide behind a dresser clutching the knife to her chest. Marko ran to her, crouched in front of her making her jump.
His hands grabbed her face to show her it was him. And she leaned into him. Her hands were covering their foreheads, touching. "I'm sorry," she said, pulling back to look as he looked over her. The smell invaded his senses of her bruised neck that was still bleeding. He had grown angry, just like how David did so very angry. She was frightened, staring at him. He leaned down and wanted to kiss her. But he pulled away and hugged her instead, showing her that he was genuinely sorry for everything as well.
"I'm getting you out of here," he said, pulling her up to her feet.
"wait, George and Luke. Please, they need help first." he turned to see the two brothers still tied to the chairs, hardly moving. He could hear their heartbeats. They indeed needed help.
"It's alright. Go outside, and I'll get- "
Suddenly the boys all stopped, and a burning sensation hit their skin, making them all fall.
Angel grabbed Marko's arm. "what's wrong?" she asked worriedly. Looking down at his skin that turned red. It reminded her of when silver affected his body.
"burning. The skin is on fire." he clenched.
"David, you mustn't let this be difficult. It's for the best that you all come with me. I don't want to do this. now Lily, not too much." Russell said. "just enough to weaken."
David was bending over, slightly distracted from the pain. And with the sudden jolt of new pain from the right side of his abdomen. He looked down at a piece of the table leg struck into him by Matthew.
Angel turned from Marko towards David, grunted in pain, and saw a wood stake in his side. She stepped out, and a figure appeared before her hitting Marko away. Emma, with one eye burning into her soul, clutching the knife from her eye and tossed it straight into the wall beside her head. Her sharp-clawed fingernails now gripped her arms hard.
"Eyes on me, Angel, I want to be the last thing you see before you die, not him or any of your friends." Angel was glued in her spot, unable to move away from Emma. Her fingers touched her broken eye. "that really hurt. just like this will." she spits, grinding her teeth together. Her nails dug into the top layer of skin of Angel's arm, moving downward. Small cherry-red lines were now at her wrists, blood falling to the floor.
Marco was doubled over in pain. But he forced himself to push himself up. Only to be knocked back down onto the floor by Robbie.
"Sorry, friend. It's for the best." he pouted, holding onto his arms from behind him.
Angel was still crying out in pain. Wanting to pull out her arms, but it only made it worse as the nails gripped her harder. It made her feel ill and nauseous. She turned her head away, closing her aching eyes. Which only earned her a swipe at her cheek.
"I told you don't look away from me!" Emma groaned loudly and began dragging Angel out of the room. Emma must not HAVE had complete control over her abilities because Angel ignored her and didn't look.
"a little bird told me you have a great fear," she grabbed Angel's shoulders to put her out in front of her facing her said fear. "And ain't it a bitch that you are surrounded by it. A vast amount of deep water. An uncontrollable dark mass. With nowhere to escape and nothing to help you." she had pushed Angel so far out that the tips of her shoes were dangling off the edge of the stairs that would lead down to the face closest to the water. Angel's knees were starting to buckle, but she had to keep herself from tripping, or else down she would go.
Angel had turned slightly around to see if anybody was coming, but they were all being brought down by the other vampires.
"now, if you move from this spot, I swear. I will make your brothers suffer forever." Emma whispered into her ear. she truly couldn't move, not under any vampire influence but straight fear.
She could hear Emma's footsteps walk away from her. Leaving her in the freezing cold. Her nose filled with the smell of the sea air, and she could even feel the mist from the ocean splash across her face. The boat would move, and she would suddenly become unbalanced, having to grip herself back into place. Her heart thudded in her chest.
"I'm back!" she sang, pulling George and Luke's chairs with her, stopping right behind her. Luke stirred a bit, and George tried to come out of his hazy.
"Hmm. should I go ahead and drink them dry now or let them join you in exploring the open water?" Emma tilted her head in question.
"Emma, do whatever you want with me. Please just let everyone else go. Please, Emma, I'm sorry." Angel cried out, faking as many tears as she could. she was gonna give Emma what she wanted to hear. "I was in the wrong. What I did was wrong. The ice cream and stabbing you. I was just frightened. You were just so overpowering, and I'm weak. I'll do anything. I'll be Mathew's pet, whatever you want."
"Emma, this won't be as easy as you think. You may do what you do to us, but My family knows hunters, people who specialize in killing vampires, and a lot of them probably. Not only that, my uncle is the sheriff of the police department. Where do you think this will end? Killing hundreds?"
Emma had been listening, pacing around slowly, looking to be in deep thought, giving Angel's words some consideration.
"Maybe you're right. Maybe I have been hard on you." Emma said softly, her arms dropping to her side. "I know I come off as a bit of a bitch. You could say that's how I was raised or how I grew up. But for so long, I've had to deal with people like you. so, to be honest, I really don't care what you have to say." Angel's shoulders slumped at her failed attempt to try to reason with Emma. "the pretty blonde rich girl who got into a whole lot of shit."
Just as Emma was about to pick up one of the boys' chairs, the boat rumbled, followed by a loud explosion from the front that was now being engulfed in flames. Another more minor explosion further down caused the boat to shift, making Angel fall backward to the bottom base of the boat by to the water. She was lucky enough to stop herself from falling in completely. Her legs fell in, and she reached out, pulling, trying to pull herself back out. A hand grabbed hers from George. He must have fallen over as well. The chair had broken underneath him from the wood scattered about around them. She gripped onto him, looking him over.
"are you alright?" she heaved.
"I'm fine, just tired. Angel, I'm sorry for not believing anything and the shit- "
"can we talk about this later?" she said, looking up toward Emma, getting back to her feet, grabbed hold of Luke's chair that did not break as George's did. He had been on his back, looking up toward her, then down at his siblings clinging to one another. She also looked down upon them and, with anger, picked Luke up by his chair and tossed it past them into the water.
Their heads watched in a somewhat slow Mo until it hit the water. George quickly jumped in after him.
Angel looked out, watching for either of their heads to appear in the dark. She could feel the thump of Emma's feet as they hit the base behind her but paid her no mind.
"maybe they might get lucky? Or not. It's sad how pathetic you are to not go in and help them. All you can do is watch them die." this woman's psychotic bloodlust was terrifying. Emma didn't have a care in the world. It was almost all over. Yet there was only one left.
"Matthew? Would you like to say goodbye?" She laughed very softly. "oh well."
Angel looked to see that the rope that was tied to Luke's chair was still moving out, and she went to grab the rope, but Emma grabbed her, yanking her back.
A warm slick feeling came from her throat from the front. It almost felt like a string running around her neck. There was no pain, just that uncomfortable feeling as if something tied very tight there.
Angel's hands went to her neck, holding the blood from seeping out. She could breathe. Nothing was coming through. Everything and anything was running through her brain all at once, happiness, sadness, anger, regret, her Mom, her Dad, her family, and the apologies that she never got to make. Her life was flashing before her eyes.
A faint loud splash came from somewhere, but Angel couldn't concentrate enough to figure out what she heard was correct. She just stayed in one spot, not being able to move her head.
Emma didn't seem to notice or care about anything. She just smiled to herself, watching as Angel's blood poured down the front of her shirt. She watched as all the color faded from her face and her pale white skin was the only thing left. "finally, the obsession will be over. Now that the children are dead, the Emersons will cease to exist. From the many years, that uncle has been driving this into us, we're finally free. they get to die just for you, Uncle Max."
Angel's senses were failing, and everything was growing hazy, but she could feel another rumble and blast come from closer behind Emma. Plunged into her chest where multiple pieces of the ship. Emma looked down, and the blood gushed out, making her chest explode, Making her stagger back and fall over.
Angel smiled a bit as everything went black. She, too, fell into the bottomless pit of cold darkness.
