'Hey Frisk! Thanks for messaging me, i'm so excited that we finally get to have our battle. According to the official trainer participants list for this year, you're the last trainer that needs to battle me.
I'm ready to go when you are, come with the riddle scroll, the riddle requirements and your team to my Nice Cream Stand. You already know where it is, so I'll be waiting for you.
-Robin'
Snow was falling in speckles, fluttering all over Frisk and Eve. The latter of the two constantly shaking her fur less she be mistaken for a soaked shiny. "Almost there." the temperatures were getting colder the further the young trainer traveled into the forest.
Easily she could see her breath in clouds of air. Still despite the snow, and the cold, she marched on. The only sound other than her breathing and the gales that ripped through her snow gear, was the crunching from her shoes.
Eventually, in what felt like ages(even though it was a matter of minutes) with the serene scenery before her stood Robin. He was calm, leaning against one of the thick sturdy pine trees that took root.
"Welcome." The blue haired individual gave Frisk a smile, one she returned in kind. "Sorry to keep you waiting. I'm ready now." With one arm, the gym leader pushes himself to full height, taking a few steps forward.
He knew the moment she had sent him a text that she was indeed ready. But still, he had to follow protocol. "Awesome, show me the riddle scroll for my gym as well as what my riddle requires." She does as is told.
Revealing the scroll, as well as her proof of defeating a fairy. The first gym badge, that was given to her by the Fairy type leader Toriel. Nodding he brings out one of his pokeballs. Pausing his movements he waits a moment, allowing his little challenger to do the same.
"The riddle has been solved, the requirements for battle fulfilled. For my match it will be one on one, where we will continue until one of us runs out of pokemon. You are allowed to switch only twice. Now on the count of three, we shall release our pokemon and the battle will begin."
This was the first time Frisk had ever seen Robin so serious, his expression cool as the ice that surrounded them. And that change in expression made her realize just how intense the Underleague challenge was truly going to be.
Both of them got into battle ready stance. "One...two...three! GO-I CHOOSE YOU!" At nearly the same time their pokemon flew, appearing in blasts of white light. "Let's go Allen!" Her abra appeared within an instant, sitting.
Though his eyes were closed and seemed like he was taking a nap, he was in actuality summoning all the psychic power he had. Determined to start this challenge on a strong note for the team!
Piloswine the Swine Pokemon and the evolved form of Swinub. Piloswine is covered is thick shaggy fur that protects it from the cold at the cost of its sight. It's sense of smell and hearing helps with finding food and uncovering it with its large, strong tusks.
It was an interesting startup. Frisk furrows her brows as she quickly glances at her new pokedex entry, trying to remember the various types. Allen wasn't a bad match up against her opponent, but it wasn't a good one either.
Still she knew she couldn't waste her two switches just yet. She had no idea what Robin had in store for her, although she now had it confirmed that he was indeed an Ice type trainer.
When she first read the riddle and found out his role in the Underleague, she had her assumptions that he used ice pokemon, but didn't want to make any conclusions just yet. "Allen use hidden power!"
Besides she had to know for sure what Allen's hidden power type was. On top of that she really needed to find those hm or tm things. Especially since the opponent looked unaffected. "Piloswine use attract!" It was a very weird moment for Frisk as it saw the big, furry, pokemon try flirting with her abra.
"Allen!" What was even more odd and somewhat disturbing was the fact that said flirting was actually working. Hearts were in her psychic pokemons' usually closed eyes! "Abbbbbra~" He immediately teleports to piloswine's side. Placing a kiss to her cheek.
Frisk blushes and partially covers her eyes, unsure of how to react. "Piloswine high horsepower." That sweet, touching moment was ruined in an instant as his pokemon lifted herself up and kicked poor Allen to skid across the snow.
Allen couldn't take the rejection or the attack and fainted. "Oh no! Allen." Quickly she returns him to his pokeball with a small pout. That attract move was going to cause problems, she could already tell...
She needed to take out that piloswine, and fast! "Go Pincer!" This was going to be a gamble of a move as her krabby raises his claws, ready to go. "Nice choice. Sending out a water pokemon against my piloswine is a smart move, but don't count on it taking me out so easily. Use freeze-dry!"
A blast of ice hit the crustacean, pushing him several yards away. Frisk widened her eyes in shock as Pincer struggled to stand. "But I thought ice type moves didn't do much?" Pincer was really getting sick of being pushed around and losing.
"Sorry dude. But freeze-dry is a move where it not only has a chance to freeze an opponent, but is super effective on water type pokemon." Neither the ten year old and pokemon wanted to give up after all the training they did.
And Robin felt bad, like really, Really bad. Granted he was expecting a tough battle and brought his A-game, but this was starting to get a little too one sided. Yes he knew she had more pokemon, but she hasn't even landed a hit on him. "Sorry Frisk, but I expected more out of this. Piloswine use body slam."
With a war cry, his mammoth pokemon charged, though not necessarily the fastest, was quickly gaining speed, her target still stumbling to stand. Frisk was panicking at this point, she didn't think her plan would fall apart so fast...when she thought back to when she was training with Peter.
Patience and adaption is Key little Frisk. My pokemon and I stay on the defensive so that we can see an opening and strike the weakness! Don't be so foolish into assuming that everything will go as planned or get too cocky in a match.
All it takes is one moment to turn the tides. So keep that in mind...also Stop coming closer! I gave no such permission for you to come into the danger zone of my training!
"Quick use protect Pincer!" In a split of an instant, just a second before there was impact, an invisible shield covered her krabby. Piloswine squealed in shock as her heavy weight was pushed back, creating some distance.
Frisk wasted no time. "Now use bubblebeam!" She knew it wouldn't do as much damage since Pincer was more of a physical hitter, but she wanted to make use of the space between them.
Robin found himself grinning as his pokemon shook off the access water. It hurt, but she was still raring to go. "Not bad! This is what I was wanting to see! Piloswine use attract!" Scowling Frisk stomped her foot in the hard snow.
She was NOT going to allow this manipulative pig to break all of her pokemon's hearts! "Pincer protect!" The water pokemon was able to see through the disgusting lies and seduction. Instead of hearts in his eyes were instead flames of determination as he himself scuttled over.
"Now use metal claw! Take that two-timer out!" Screeching, the little krabby smashed his now silver lined claw right into his opponents' stomach. With all his strength and momentum, he actually lifts the ground/ice type off the ground, practically uppercutting her into the air.
Another squeal erupted from her mouth, this time in agony as she falls harshly onto the ice, landing head first. Her trainer flinches from the impact, clearly able to see his piloswine down for the count. "Ouch! Guess that's a loss for me. Good job piloswine. Return."
At last victory was Pincers' as he cheered, spinning around with his claws raised. "?" But then, a flash of light surrounded and blinded the entire group. "Pincer?" Frisk, with even more squinted eyes then normal, watched his shadowy silhouette grow and change.
Robin despite his loss was still smiling, clapping his hands together in excitement. "Whoa! Check it Frisk-your krabby's evolving!" A beep rang from her bag as her handy, dandy, pokedex started talking.
Kingler the pincer pokemon, and the evolved form of krabby. Kingler's massive claw are very strong and are tough as steel. However due to it weight, it becomes difficult for the pokemon to wield it in battle.
"Congratulations!" Jumping up and down, the battle temporarily forgotten, Frisk goes up to the newly evolved Pincer. "Wow! Pincer you look so cool!" Grinning, the king crab lifts his heavy claw in celebration...before quickly putting it down and rubbing his head against the young trainer.
to be continued
