"Good luck kiddo. I'll be rootin for ya." Frisk nods, sharing a smile with Sans before looking up at her escort. "You ready Temy?" The teen claps her hands in excitement before raising her fist into the air. The basket hooked into her arms jerking at the motion.
Fortunately the items contained didn't leak out(Rosemary made sure of that.) "Yesh! Temy is ready for anything~ See you soon Grandma Rosy!" This really wasn't going according to plan. "Take care of her Paps."
At least when it came to the ten year old. "LEAVE IT TO ME BROTHER! THE GREAT PAPYRUS WILL BE THE BEST CARETAKER!" After talking with the mysterious stranger Frisk finished helping Max with his patients.
Hours ticked on and despite the long hours, the little girl was practically glowing as the pokenurse graciously thanked and praised her for her hard work. Max though looked ready to crash on the lounge couch was extremely proud.
"You're welcome back here anytime little buddy~ Consider yourself an honorary member of the Underground Nurse Association for Pokemon or UNAP for short." She blushed, giving her friend a hug before waving goodbye. Promising she'd drop by again soon.
However her smile faded as she left through the doors. Instead she looked onwards, taking a deep breath as she headed towards the edge of town-in the opposite direction of where Sans and Papyrus's house was. She...didn't get far. "A bit late for a stroll don't you think Frisk?"
She jolted from the voice behind her, but didn't turn around. Knowing exactly who was there. "Hey Sans." The rookie trainer could hear the frown form on his face, as if knowing what she was about to do. "Where ya going?" Still, he faked his confusion. Making her nerves stand on end.
Turning around she bites her lip. As she expected he didn't look happy finding her out here. "I...was going to head into Waterfall." His brows furrowed in thought, a stern expression taking form, something so unlike his usual comedic nature. He was not happy.
"And you didn't think to come back home or even text your mom? Not cool kid." She winced from her position before pouting, unable to meet his disappointed gaze. "I don't want her to take Pikaboo away." No matter what the brunette was not going to let that happen.
Regardless of who stands in her way. "And you think runnin away is going to solve that? You got your mother and brother worried sick about ya. Paps too." Her eyes widen in surprise and guilt. "I-I wasn't running away! I was just...going to go see Undyne."
Now Sans was actually confused, unsure of what was going on. What did she have to do with this? "Why?" He observes her fidgeting in place, biting her lip. Now Sans despite his jokes was young, still only in his mid-twenties, but he'd have to say he was a pretty good at judging characters.
It was part of his job to observe and understand people after all...or one of his many jobs. Yet he couldn't really get a good pin point as to what Frisk was thinking or feeling. He knew she was guilty for getting caught leaving town without even sending a message-let alone saying goodbye.
But...for whatever reason he was struggling to piece together what she was planning to do. Which considering he was given the unofficial title of Dunkle Sans and now part time babysitter...was a problem. Still he waits patiently for her to explain herself.
"Undyne promised she would help me with my bear phobia...I figured she could help Pikaboo with hers too. I met someone at the center and thought maybe she had PTSD." His mouth opens for a moment in surprise before pondering.
Looking back, he could see that. Though there were still one too many mysteries regarding the mimikyu, Sans couldn't help relaxing the tensions from his muscles. "I see. I getcha Frisk, I really do. But you can't be mad at your mom for wanting to keep you safe."
Immediately the trainer puts her hands on her hips as she glares at him. The stance giving him a faint hint of nostalgia. For a moment he wasn't looking at Frisk anymore, but rather someone from six years ago. Even their voices were similar as his little house guest narrowed her eyes.
"Then she shouldn't have forced me to try the Underleague. I originally didn't want to go. She can't keep me back now that I want to do it and own up to my responsibilities as a trainer. Pikaboo is my pokemon. I'll do whatever I can to help her." This was probably the most confident she's ever been.
And that confidence deflated the moment Sans started laughing. "Sans! Don't be mean. I'm serious about this." Tears were leaking through his eyes as he continued to chuckle. "I-I know you are kiddo, you just remind me of someone. You got the same stare and everything."
He in all honesty didn't mean to laugh, but he did feel like he was back in time. Lecturing another little girl, though it wasn't for participating in the Underleague. "Who?" But that was a story for another time. Another day. Right now Sans had to worry about the present.
"If you really wanna do this Frisk then let's go back and talk to your mom. She's really feeling bad about arguing with you." Hearing that made her agree, taking his outstretched hand as he gently lead her back to his house. Or...at least up until they reached Rosemary's little store.
It seemed Papyrus was taking his search very seriously as he was questioning the older woman. "PLEASE MS. ROSEMARY IF YOU RECEIVE ANY WORD OF FRISK'S WHEREABOUTS TELL ME! I THE GREAT PAPYRUS WILL COME IMMEDIATELY." Sans let out a snort, barely covering the sound with his free hand.
However the shopkeeper in question raised an eyebrow, but still smiled as she sends a wink Frisk's way. "I will do so. Hey Papyrus?" The tall male poses, looking dramatically as he looks down. "YES?" With a small chuckle she points behind him.
"I found Frisk." She got a kick seeing his face change so much with his mood. "MS. ROSEMARY PLEASE DO NOT JOKE ABOUT THIS. I HAVE SCOURED ALL OF SNOWDIN INCLUDING THE FOREST AND ICE CHASMS AND THERE HAS BEEN NO SIGNs OF HER ANYWHERE!"
Frisk was biting her lip again, but it was stop a giggle from releasing. As if not being able to see Sans with the girl in question Rosemary nods solemnly. "Of course, of course...hey what's that behind you?" Hook like and sinker the Underleague challenger took her bait.
He turned around. "THE GREAT PAPYRUS WILL NOT FALL FOR SUCH A CHILDISH PR-FRISK! I HAVE FOUND YOU! MS. ROSEMARY WHY DID YOU NOT SPEAK UP SOONER?" Humbly she apologizes, causing Sans to fall to the ground. It was a good day.
"SANS YOU LAZY BONES! IF YOU KNEW WHERE FRISK WAS YOU SHOULD'VE MESSAGED ME!" His elder brother apologizes, though he doesn't look sorry in the slightest. Still Papyrus accepted it, crushing the short ten year old tight to his chest.
The moment was sweet as small tears leaked through Papyrus's eyes. He was so glad his friend was alright. But, he noticed how glum she was a moment later so he puts her down. "WHAT IS THE MATTER?" Immediately he follows her gaze, noting that Frisk was staring towards the direction of his house.
If Sans had found her, then she was already aware of who was waiting for her. "FRET NOT FRISK! ASRIEL AND YOUR MOTHER WILL BE HAPPY TO SEE YOU." He smiles down, ruffling her hair affectionately-though her brown locks fly in all directions.
Still it doesn't relieve the girl of the tense state she was in. "Kid was thinking of going to Undyne for some training." Stars shown in Papyrus's eyes at his brother's words. "REALLY?! THAT IS A FANTASTIC IDEA! UNDYNE IS A SPECTACULAR TRAINER-THOUGH NOT AS SPECTACULAR AS MYSELF~"
While Sans was catching his sibling up on what happened, Rosemary found herself tapping her crossed arms in thought. Even though she didn't understand the full story, the old shopkeeper can clearly see the poor dear's discomfort at the thought of going back home.
So a thought comes to her. "Frisk?" Immediately the ten year old snaps her head up. Meeting kind, knowing eyes. "I have a favor to ask. Sans mentioned you wanting to go to Undyne's yes?" The elder woman takes note of her hesitation.
But after a moment the young girl nods her head. "Yeah, mom and I got into a fight over Pikaboo. So I thought maybe Undyne could help me train her so mom doesn't take her away." It wasn't like Rosemary to get involved with Toriel's personal business despite being good friends with her.
However...it seemed like some distance between the two would do them some good. At the very least it would give her time to talk one on one with Toriel about this. "Well if you're going to Waterfall anyways, do you mind going with Temy?"
It was a strange request. "Temy? Your assistant?" Smiling, Rosemary nods. "The very same. She's been wanting to go home and check in on her family that live in Waterfall. But she's not the best battler and unfortunately i'm too busy to go with her. Could you go in my stead?" Sans raises an eyebrow.
"You think that's a good idea Rose? Frisk hasn't even gotten the riddle for gym three. The pokemon in Waterfall will be tougher then the ones here in Snowdin." That was true, however she didn't seem to concerned with that fact.
If anything she sent a smirk Sans's way. "It'll be a good experience for her. I'll personally go and explain to Toriel. And at the very least it'll allow her a chance to take a break from the challenge." If there was one thing she saw when it came to trainers was burnout.
Despite wanting to complete their journey, most of the challengers tend to overdo it, train, challenge and train again. Not really pacing themselves. Plus Waterfall had far more variety when it came to meeting and catching pokemon.
No matter what, leaving Snowdin for a little while wasn't a bad idea. And the comedian could see it. Still...he wasn't too sure. "I don't know..." Suddenly a hand rests on his shoulder. "FEAR NOT BROTHER-I THE GREAT PAPYRUS WILL ALSO GO ALONG WITH THEM!"
His mind was made up the moment Rosemary asked Frisk. "You sure Paps? I know you're still working on your challenge too." The teen poses heroically, allowing the swift breeze to make his clothes flutter.
"AS MS. ROSEMARY STATES THIS WILL BE A GOOD EXPERIENCE. MORE IMPORTANTLY, FRISK NEEDS MY SUPPORT. I THE GREAT PAPYRUS REFUSE TO TURN MY BACK ON MY FRIENDS WHEN THEY'RE IN NEED OF HELP!" Sans could stop himself from smiling with a soft sigh.
Guess he'd have to relent. "If that's the case...Alright then. Grab whatever you guys need and I'll walk you to the edge of town." He sends a wink Frisk's way, making her grin grow all the wider. She wasn't sure what exactly spurred on his change of heart.
Though she couldn't find herself to truly care for the reason. The fact that she was able to go with his blessings was more than enough. She knew that if she went and saw her mother now-there would only be a second round of their fight.
Pulling out her pokedex, she ignores the several messages being sent and simply wrote to her brother that she was doing a favor for Rosemary and will be back soon. Sending her love to him and their mother. Short, sweet and to the point. "Let's go."
Temy was shaking with excitement as she walked besides her two new companions. "Hey Temy, do you have any pokemon?" Blinking, the girl reaches into her pocket. "Yesh~ Here we goooo!" Immediately she tosses her pokeball into the air.
Audino the hearing pokemon. By using the feelers on its ears, Audinos can determine both the physical and mental states of whatever they touch. Combined with their kind nature, makes them excellent healers alongside Chanseys.
The teen and her pokemon do a cute little pose. "We'll heals any booboos you got~" Frisk giggled, only to wince when Temy slips and falls into the snow face first. "Bwa!" Her audino shakes his head, as if used to this and helps her trainer to her feet. "I'm oks!" This was going to be an interesting side quest.
