Author's note: I'm glad some people have stated they're enjoying it, always glad to see that. I did see one reviewer mention being curious whether Izuku will inherit One for All in this series, and the answer to that lies in this chapter. So, stay tuned to the end guys. Let's get to the what-iffery.

Izuku walked away from the school with his head held low, his right hand clutching the charred notebook as he walked. "Stupid Kaachan… Think before you speak…" He muttered to himself. "If I really did throw myself out the window I could be seriously hurt, or worse, and they'd know it was your fault, how would that look for a future U.A student…?"

Izuku thought back to all the times in his past Bakugo had made it difficult just to be in school. How he'd purposely splash water at him to make the image his watch created falter just to show the new students what Izuku really looked like, always calling him names but never his real one, he even used Deku very sparsely these days as he referred to Izuku as Freakshow and Devil-Boy more and more frequently. Bakugo could always be rude to everyone, but it's like he always singled Izuku out. Was it solely because of his strange appearance? Even if he hid it, it seemed Bakugo would never give him a break.

Izuku sighed. "Still, Kaachan… He'll be a great hero someday. His Quirks amazing, he always does what he sets out to do, even his grades are nothing to scoff at despite his attitude… and he doesn't look like a giant blueberry without wearing a special watch…" Izuku muttered as he entered an underpass on his way home, looking at his hand as he walked.

The watch could do many things but it couldn't return the two fingers that basically vanished from his hand. The only thing it did was disguise his three-digit hand to look normal… but functionally his index and middle finger were always stuck together in this form, same with his ring and pinkie finger. Yet another flaw in his disguise, as anybody who looked close enough could see how oddly the boy held his pencils and other stuff.

The boy stopped walking. "I can become a hero… I know I can do this!" He clutched his hand tightly. "Teleportation Quirks are so rare, I can do a lot of good with this, I just know it." He told himself. He faltered a bit afterwards though. "I just have to hide how I really look… forever…" He told himself, letting the silence in the underpass roll over him.

"A medium size body to hide in… don't mind if I do!" A burbly voice from below bellowed out, making the boy's eyes widen.

Suddenly, the manhole behind him burst, causing the boy to turn and see a gelatinous goo trying to wrap itself around him, two bloodshot, evil eyes peering at him and a wicked set of teeth grinning. The boy felt his hair stand on end, and his natural protective instinct made him teleport backwards and just out of the way of the creature as the man made of sludge clutched only air.

In a puff of blue smoke, Izuku reappeared, breathing heavily as he stared at the angry face of the sludge villain as he scanned the underpass and found Izuku. The evil creature seemed to smile wickedly. "That's some Quirk you got there boy…" He burbled. "Teleportation… now that's a body worth stealing!"

The villain lunged at him again from both sides, Izuku hastily teleporting himself further backwards and down the tunnel as the monster gave chase. Under normal circumstances, he may have just teleported himself home… but coming face to face with a real villain so suddenly, it was like his brain got shoved into a blender and set to frappe. He couldn't think clearly, he just acted on instinct, teleporting further away from the sludge man's swings and using his remarkable flexibility to dance quickly out of his way.

"Hold still you little brat! It'll only hurt for about 4 seconds.. then it'll all be over!" He said with another swing that missed as the boy appeared further away in a puff of blue smoke. "Come on, you want to be a hero, don't you?" The boy froze somewhat, had the sludge villain overhead him talking to himself like that? He'd really have to be more careful.

The sludge villain went for another swing, Izuku teleporting away… only to find himself trapped by the legs. Damn it, in his adrenaline-fueled state he hadn't noticed something crucial… He was teleporting predictably. While the sludge villain was no pro, or at least Izuku assumed he wasn't a pro-villain, anyone could read the movements of someone jumping away from them in such a predictable manner. Pattern recognition could be a bitch sometimes.

"Gotcha! Now, come on!" The sludge villain began to pull Izuku back down the tunnel toward him with that evil grin over his face. "I don't have much time! Of all my rotten luck, HE had to be in this city today… but that's fine. With this Quirk, I could be all the way across the country before that blonde moron can ever find me!"

Izuku desperately clawed at the ground, digging his fingers into it and trying desperately not to get pulled in. He couldn't teleport this time. On top of using it so many times in such a short time, he'd just end up pulling the sludge villain with him wherever he teleported. Yet another kink with his Quirk he hadn't come across a fix for yet.

Was this really the end for Izuku? Had his hero career died before he even got the chance to try? Was he really going to become a meat suit for this weird sewer demon just to give him a place to hide?

All those thoughts flashed in Izuku Midoriya's mind as the villain pulled him ever closer. Izuku closed his eyes tightly, silently hoping, praying for a miracle.

"Fear not, kid!" Came a booming voice from the manhole where the sludge villain had emerged, the eyes of the sludge villain widening, Izuku's as well, as both suddenly heard heavy boots slam into the concrete just behind the sludge villain. "For I am here!"

Izuku knew that voice, how could he not? He only watched the video of his debut thousands and thousands of times. But… could it really be his hero?

It was then that the booming voice echoed out. "TEXAS…." The faint figure of the bulky man shown through the sludge villain, Izuku could see the figure pull back their arm, more hope gleaming in the boy's eyes as he heard the words that always sent a chill down his spine. "SMASH!"

A violent wind tore through the underpass, sounding more like a jet engine at full throttle as the sludge villain was suddenly sprayed over the walls and ceiling of the underpass… and unfortunately Izuku was sent skidding like a hockey puck over the floor. However, the figure from earlier rushed forward and actually caught Izuku, making sure he didn't go flying any further as the wind slowly died down.

"I'm terribly sorry about that young man. Normally I take care of my hero work without bystanders getting involved. Unfortunately, the sewer system around here is very confusing and took me longer to navigate than I had anticipated. Are you injured?" The strong voice bellowed.

Izuku had closed his eyes during the blast of wind, wondering if he'd get blown out the other side, but he felt himself caught and held in place till it subsided. When he opened his eyes, his hopes were confirmed. It was All Might! His idol, in the flesh. Was he injured? Who cared?! All Might was here!

Quickly Izuku stood up and began bowing rather rapidly as the hero stood to his full height in front of him. "Thank you All Might! You're my favorite hero of all time! I can't believe I was actually saved by THE All Might!" He began speaking faster and faster, the bows matching his rapid speaking until All Might put a hand on his shoulder. "Think nothing of it, young man! After all, that is what a hero does!"

All Might turned and looked at the mess of the sludge villain, pondering for a moment before taking a two-liter of soda he had planned to drink later for himself out of his pocket and walking to the manhole, pouring it out into the sewer as Izuku looked around the tunnel, finding his charred notebook buried under sludge. Gingerly he picked it out and wiped it off, yet another brutal day for this poor book. He silently pondered if he should discard it and make another… but wait… All Might was here! He had to get his autograph!

Izuku turned to see the hero stooped over the ground, slowly pushing the sludge villain into the now empty bottle of soda as he nervously walked over and held the book out. "U-Umm, Mr. All Might sir! Would you please sign my book?" All Might looked up as he finished scooping up some of the villain. "Of course, young man!" He said, standing and pulling a pen out from his pocket. His large hand opened the book to an empty page and Izuku could swear he only saw one hand movement from the hero.

Izuku half expected a single line spread across the page All Might had signed, but upon looking he did indeed see "ALL MIGHT" printed on it, he even drew a tiny picture of his own face at the bottom. Wow, so fast! Izuku began bowing rapidly again. "Thank you Mr. All Might sir! This will be a family heirloom passed on for generations!" He said rapidly as the hero continued to scoop up the villain.

A thought began burning at Izuku's brain as he watched the hero scooping up the last bit of the villain that attacked him. If anyone could answer his question, surely it was the number one hero. Nervously, he gulped, then spoke. "Excuse me, Mr. All Might sir… I have a question for you… A… rather important one.." He said nervously.

All Might hadn't turned back to face the boy just yet, but he could tell the boy was nervous about something. He wasn't sure, maybe the boy was just nervous about the villain attack. It was only natural after all, he was 14, anyone would be nervous in that situation. All Might retained his cool, he still had time thankfully before his time was up so he calmly stood up. "Yes?" He asked, tightening the cap on the soda bottle and stuffing it into his baggy cargo pants.

Izuku nervously moved his hand to his watch as he spoke. While All Might had moved to the entrance of the underpass, standing out in the light of the day… Izuku stood just inside, the shadows cast over his pale skin and green hair. "I was wondering… but is it possible for me to become a hero.. like you?" He asked, All Might only listening for the moment as he looked out at the city behind them.

Izuku continued. "My Quirk… well it's amazing. Not as amazing as yours, of course. I'm not strong enough to stop a villain with a single punch, but I know I can be helpful to others. I want to help people, to save the lives of others with a smile on my face like you do…" He then clicked the watch.

His form shifted slightly as the illusion faded, the pale boy with green hair replaced with a boy with blue fur all over his body, his messy green hair having remained the same though it seemed a shade darker than before. His once emerald, green eyes having turned completely yellow, and his hands and feet of course had changed as well to their normal state. His tail swished behind him slightly.

"But… I'm afraid… I'm afraid others won't accept me. That… if they saw me coming to help, they'd run away, that it'd cause problems… that they'd think I was one of the villains…" All Might raised an eyebrow, his back still turned. What was this boy talking about? One of the villains? Did he have a power that dangerous? He had looked just like any other plain young man he'd seen, so he wasn't sure what the boy was talking about. Slowly All Might began to turn back to him as the boy continued.

"Is it possible to become a hero… when you look like this?" He asked. All Might couldn't see the boy any longer, not while he was still in the dark of the underpass… but as the boy slowly stepped out to show All Might his true appearance, All Might raised an eyebrow visibly. The boy's appearance did change. Surely he would have noticed if he had looked like that before. He saw the nervous youth staring at his own feet as he stood in the light, her left-hand hovering over the watch on his right wrist.

That was the tell that All Might needed, that explained it. "Your watch… it's some kind of support item, right? It disguises what you really look like?" All Might asked to clarify, but he was fairly certain he knew the answer. The boy only nodded in response. He didn't know how to react or hold himself right now. Would All Might see him as a monster? Another villain in waiting? Would he attack? All those nervous thoughts passed through Izuku's head.

All Might knelt down on one knee, still taller than the boy like this but much closer to eye level than previously. "What's your name, young man?" All Might asked as Izuku looked up. "I-Izuku. Izuku Midoriya." He stated as the large man looked at him. "Well, Izuku Midoriya, listen here. What makes a hero is not how he looks or how good he does in front of a camera. Those things can help boost popularity, surely, but they do not make the hero."

He then put a finger against Izuku's chest, making the boy flinch briefly before he relaxed and looked up at All Might. "The most important thing to make a great hero is a strong heart. A good Quirk is surely needed, unfortunately there are just some evils that can't be beaten without one, but without a strong heart a good Quirk is only a liability. You've told me you have an amazing Quirk, young Midoriya. It is a gift, and if you believe that it is your duty to use it for the sake of others then yes, I believe that with hard work and dedication, you too could become a hero."

Izuku felt a weight lifted off of his shoulders. To hear words of encouragement from his idol even after showing him what he really looked like… the feeling was indescribable. All Might then continued speaking. "However, speaking of acceptance, I'm afraid I can't speak to that." He stated, Izuku blinking a bit as All Might explained. "People can hate or fear what they don't understand, or even just don't like. You can't change that. As a hero, you'll run into many who might be off-put by your appearance. I'm sorry young Midoriya, but that is the reality of this world. Quirks may be accepted, but it can still be harsh." He stated as he stood up. Izuku felt his heart drop a bit at that but All Might put a hand on his head, giving him a smile.

"However, that doesn't mean there won't be those who openly embrace you. There will be those who won't shun you simply because you appear differently than they do. In the world of heroes, the quality of your work and the lives you save is more important than whether you have green hair, blonde hair, fur covering your entire body, or even if you look like a seal or something. At the end of the day, that's what will matter to everyone. The good you do will be what defines you as a hero, not your appearance."

All Might moved his hand away and took a few steps away. He could feel his time growing shorter, and he began stretching a bit. "Remember what I've said, young Midoriya. In the end, it all comes down to you." He stated as he continued. Izuku took in what he said briefly before speaking, a new fire showing in his eyes. "I… I will. Mr. All Might sir. I'll train hard and become a great hero!"

All Might smiled at him and gave him a thumbs up. "Then I'll see you again, young Midoriya! Until next time!" All Might then jumped high up into the air and seemed to fly away, unfortunately knocking Izuku flat on his ass from the wind but Izuku didn't care. He was on cloud nine after today, and tomorrow, he'd ramp up his training. Screw what Bakugo said, he was going to get into U.A and become a hero!

He then looked down at his watch for a brief moment, remember what All Might had told him. There would be those who wouldn't be afraid of him, who'd look past his appearance to the work he did as a hero. He wanted that too. He wanted to feel like he belonged. Even with his fancy watch, he never truly felt like that. He touched the watch with his left-hand, his disguise reappearing and returning him to the pale skinned boy All Might had first met. Maybe in the future… maybe he could live without it, maybe he could feel like he wasn't a monster… but right now he wasn't so sure, and he had a lot of work to do. He was going to U.A after all.

The next day, Izuku Midoriya began training. After doing some extensive research, he found some solid exercise routines to help strengthen his fairly skinny body, as well as getting his mother to prepare meals in the way he needed to replenish his energy, though he did help with the cooking when he could.

Inko Midoriya was more than happy to do this. She was happy to see her son with such fire in his eyes and becoming determined to reach for his goals with new vigor. Hisashi was also excited to hear that once Inko had called to tell him, hoping he'd get some vacation time soon so he could come home and help… but the way it was looking for him it seems like it'd be almost a year before he'd ever make it back sadly.

Izuku was undaunted, sure, he wanted to see his father and he did feel bad he worked so much, but he had to stay focused and train. Aside from making his physical body stronger, he needed to work on his Quirk. For that, Inko had an idea. Takoba Municipal Beach, while a junkyard now, was pretty much entirely deserted. If he wanted to go there to train his Quirk, it would be probably the best location.

Izuku later went to Takoba, and indeed, it was a junkyard. Piles and piles of trash scattered as high as mountains littered what was once supposed to be a beautiful beach. He wondered to himself if he should work cleaning it into his training, it could be a good use for his powers to get this trash out of here and make this place beautiful again.

That was how Izuku Midoriya spent his next 10 months of his life. It was a brutal, hellish training period of working out his body physically using a gym located near his place but also from moving the garbage around the beach. He also had to make sure he stayed awake in class and did well for all his tests, after all, U.A wouldn't accept him if he had bad grades. He also took the time to get trash off of the beach. That was a grueling and time-consuming task, but thankfully it was fairly shortened since he could just teleport to a proper junkyard further into the city and leave the trash there. He did have to get permission from the owner to take it there but the owner didn't seem to mind Izuku bringing it, though he was curious how one boy brought so much by, but since it was volunteer work the owner didn't ask much more of it.

It was thanks to that teleporting that he was able to not only perform more jumps but he even increased the distance of his jumps as well, as long as he had a clear idea of where he was going he could teleport, though he did have to be careful, his Quirk still had some drawbacks so he always teleported to an abandoned alley or something nearby then ran the trash over just so he wouldn't accidentally teleport in front of or inside of others, or even buildings or cars. He didn't like using his power if he couldn't see where he was going but he had to take some risks to get the job done.

10 months later…

Izuku panted a bit as he finished one last teleportation over to the dump for the morning and tossed some more trash inside, waving to the owner.

"Morning Izuku.." The old, mustached man said as he stood near the gate. "Big day today, right? You got that entrance exam?"

Izuku panted a bit and nodded. "Yes, Mr. Satou. I've got my U.A entrance exams today." He said with a grin.

Mr. Satou nodded as he closed the gate behind Izuku. "U.A huh? Pretty big. Good luck today. I'm sure with whatever that Quirk of yours is, you'll do fine. After all, it helps you bring so much of that garbage here"

Izuku flushed a bit and shook his head. "W-What, no, Mr. Satou. I haven't been using my Quirk to bring the garbage here."

Mr. Satou gave Izuku a look. "And you just expect me to believe you did all of this without it or even a proper license? You just magicked that load of garbage from Takoba over here now did ya?"

Izuku flinched. "How did you know it was from Takoba?" He asked the old man who smirked. "Well, where else would a young man like you keep finding junk like this but that damn ocean? Everyone here knows that its currents are what pulls a lot of that garbage in, that and the reckless dumping that other lot does there. World full of heroes and no one can take care of a pollution problem like that, well, none except a middle schooler with an exceptional Quirk it seems." He grinned.

Izuku looked at him and Mr. Satou seemed to say what Izuku was hoping. "Relax, I'm not gonna report you for using your Quirk without permission. After all, you were only helping the community, and it's not like you did any damage or hurt anyone, quite the opposite in fact. That being said…" Mr. Satou started, turning to Izuku. "Can you use your Quirk to take me to Takoba with you? I want to see how much you've gotten done since you started all this. I could walk or drive but I know you're short on time here. Just a fast trip there and back, as a favor to an old man."

Izuku thought on this and nodded. Mr. Satou had been nice enough to not ask questions so far about how Izuku pulled all of this off, and now that he'd figured it all out he might as well show the kind old man. "Alright, Mr. Satou… hang on." Izuku then grabbed onto Mr. Satou's shirt as he teleported them from there to the beach. Before his training started showing results, it took him at least three jumps to get there and three more to get back. Now, his range had extended to just one jump there and one back, unless he was tired of course.

Mr. Satou blinked and waved the blue smoke out of his face. "Well, I'll be. Here I assumed you could fly or had some sort of speed Quirk… but teleportation…" He sat down on the concrete stairs at the entrance of the beach. He looked over the sandy shore, what had once been littered with mountains of garbage was pretty much clean, with the exception of about two or three piles still left to clean. "Well, I'll be…" Mr. Satou said as Izuku sat beside him for a moment. "Yeah, I really wanted to finish it all up you see, but I've ran short on time. Between training my body and studying, this was the best I could do."

Mr. Satou looked at him. "All on your own?" He asked, the boy nodded, before getting a pat on the back from the old man. "That's remarkable work boy. I don't think I've ever seen this beach that clean. Well done." Mr. Satou smiled at him, and Izuku smiled back, standing up. "I'm not done yet. I've still got more, but I have to take my entrance exam for U.A first. I'm sorry if I'm rushing you.. but.." Izuku held his hand out to Mr. Satou to take him back but the old man just patted Izuku's arm. "I think I'll stay for a while. I know this city like the back of my hand, I can walk back just fine. You go and ace that test, future hero."

Both shared a smile and a nod as Izuku vanished, leaving the old man to look at the morning sun rising from the beach.

Author's note: There you have it. In this story, Izuku Midoriya is not the inheritor of One for All. I know it's a bit sad, after all, imagine the possibilities of a teleporting Texas Smash, but for the sake of the story I felt there was no need for him to inherit it. For starters, All Might didn't waste a lot of time trying to wake Izuku up after he passed out from the sludge villain, so Izuku got to ask his question. He also didn't hang on when All Might jumped away, accidentally knocking the bottle out of his pocket, so he didn't have that rooftop chat where he discovered All Might's secret or had to rescue Bakugo after the Sludge Villain got free. This is still the story of how Izuku Midoriya became a great hero, just not the same story, and I hope everyone enjoyed and is excited to stick along for the ride. Until next time.
