Chapter 1: Returning Home

A week later

Hiccup's POV

The moon shined down on the transport as it sailed the sea. Jack and I were the only ones on the top deck. The girls were in the quarters below, getting some sleep.

They had entered the Archipelago a few days ago. We had parted ways with Dagur, Mala, and their people. They were heading to Outcast island to put Alvin in prison. While Berserkers were to resume watch of the prison, the Defenders would return to their island to care for the Eruptodon.

I looked up at the dragons on their perches. Surge was awake, ready for anything, eyes alert. Jack sat on Blizzard and was singing a shanty quietly to himself as Blizzard slept. Trace was fast asleep. Dragonroar was out for a flight but quickly came back. I walked over to his post.

When I got to the dragon, I started listening to what jack was singing.

Then up jumps the shark with his nine rows of teeth,
saying "You eat the dough boys and I eat the beef!"

And it's...
Windy weather, boys, stormy weather, boys
When the wind blows, we're all together, boys;
Blow ye winds westerly, blow ye winds blow,
Jolly sou'wester, boys, steady she goes.

I smiled as I did up Dragonroar's harness. I then looked down to see Toothless and Starlight sleeping together on the deck. Snare was asleep not far from them.

I quickly crossed the cross beam that was between Blizzards and Dragonroar's perch to get to Jack. Jack stopped singing when I came over.

"What's up, Hiccup?" Jack said as he continued to work on something in his hands.

I looked down to see an ice sculpture. Jack was carving it into something.

"Why don't you just use your magic?" I asked.

"Too easy. I'd rather take my time," he said as he chiseled some of the ice away.

I sat down and sighed.

"I can't believe it. We're almost home."

Jack chuckled. "If there's a home to go to."

"True. It has been almost five years since we were magically whisked away."

"And some adventure that was, huh."

I smiled. "Yeah. Mountinui."

"Pirates."

"Some gods we've never heard of."

"Moana," Jack said with a bit of an embarrassed look on his face.

"The new world."

We both sighed. I knew we both missed the adventures we were on as a team. Now it was back to business.

"Let's hope not everything has fallen out of place," Jack said.

I only nodded back. I looked up into the sky and thought about what I said to Merida the night we left the new world.

True. But I worry. When we get back, will it be to stop someone, or to undo what has already happened?

Just then, Surge shrieked. I quickly got up and looked to the front of the transport.

There, in the distance, was Berk. My home.

"There it is," I whispered.

Jack jumped off Blizzard.

"I'll go wake up the others."

Jack flew down to the lower quarters.

I slowly steered the ship into the docks. They were in good quality.

"Huh, it looks like Mom got the docks fixed up."

Rapunzel and Jack jumped off and tied off the ship.

"So what's the plan, Hiccup?" Merida said as she yawned.

"We don't want to shock everyone by announcing our arrival. We need to sneak in, get to the base, and then plan from there. Are we clear?"

Everyone nodded.

"Let's go."

With cloaks on. We snuck off the ship. Rapunzel and I lead the way. Rapunzel hummed softly as we walked so that the tip of her hair would light the way.

"Alright, almost there."

We turned the corner to see what was our base, now burned to the ground, and overgrown.

"What?" I whispered as I walked to the pile of rubble.

I knelt to see the building I worked on for so long to honor Astrid was gone.

Rapunzel looked over at the gardens next to it. She walked over and gasped.

"Punzie?" Jack asked.

We ran over to her and looked. She covered her mouth and started to cry.

Where we laid Jake to rest was now desecrated. His tombstone was still there, but the coffin was smashed and the body was gone.

"Who would do this?" Elsa asked.

"I don't know, but we need to assume that Berk isn't safe anymore."

"HEY, YOU THERE!"

We froze. The voice was behind us. I took a glance and immediately recognized the armor. Dragon Trappers.

I pulled my hood down and walked past the others.

"Hello there."

There were three men. Two of them had crossbows pointed right at us. The other had a torch in his hand.

"What are you guys doing here? Don't you know the law?"

"No. We're from a land far away. Would you enlighten us?" I asked.

The man groaned and shook his head. "Any person how talks about, or visits sites of the Big Six are to be arrested and judged."

I nodded. "Well, I am so sorry. We had no idea. As I said, we come from a land far from here. It won't happen again, I assure you." I said as I motioned the others to move. They quickly moved out of the garden and back to the path.

The man walked closer to me. "Who are you?" He said as he grabbed my hood and threw it off.

I stared into his eyes with shock. I had fought a war against these guys for years. I hope they didn't recognize me.

"Pocan. Pocan Hawkins." I said.

I heard Jack snicker behind me.

The man reached to his side and grabbed his sword. "Well, Pocan. The law is the law. I have to arrest you and your friends and take you to Chief Lord Grimmel."

"Who?"

Just then, a figure appeared behind the other two men. He grabbed their heads and knocked them together.

The man I was talking to quickly turned around.

"IT'S THE PHANTOM! SOUND THE ALARM!"

As he did that, I turned around and ran towards the others.

"Go!"

We all ran back towards the dock. I heard the guy that talked to me yell after me.

We finally made it to the docks. We could hear people behind us.

"Come on let's go."

Just then Elsa tripped. I quickly stopped and helped her up.

"There they are!"

I looked up to see a huge man running towards us with a huge ax in his hand. Elsa raised her hands to defend herself.

Just then, Blizzard and Toothless landed in front of us. Blizzard swung her tail and smacked the guy into some barrels.

"It won't hold them long. Let's go."

Elsa and I ran to the transport. I whistled for the dragons as the others had already unhooked the transport and had got it out of the docking area.

Toothless glided over to the transport. Blizzard picked up Elsa and me and flew us over to it.

When Blizzard put us down. I quickly started putting her harness on.

"Rapunzel, take us up!"

Rapunzel climbed Surge's Perch and got on. Right as I finished Blizzard's harness. Surge took off. The other dragons followed. The transport flew up into the air with ease, leaving Berk behind.

General POV

The men watched as the ship with the dragons fly up out of the water and into the distance.

Alf, the man who had sounded the alarm, watched it go in awe.

"What now?" The men asked.

"I... I... don't know."

"Know what?"

A death gripper came up from behind and hissed at Alf. Grimmel walked through the men to him.

"I guess you do not know that we'll be shutting down the dragon market tomorrow so we can attend my nephew's birthday celebration in a few days," Grimmel said in a low voice.

"But my lord, The Phantom appeared right as we were going to arrest some newcomers for trespassing on the Big Six base. Then they ran. And flew away."

"Flew away how?"

"With a Big Six Transport," Alf said.

Grimmel just stared at him. "Impossible. They don't exist anymore. We destroyed them all.

"But this one was newer. Someone must have found the old plans for it."

Grimmel shook his head. "Alright. I'll inform the Queen when we get to Corona."

He started to walk away, then stopped.

"And Alf, I find you guilty of speaking of the Big Six."

The Deathgripper stung Alf in the back and tossed him into the ocean.

"Now that everyone is up. Prepare the ships for travel to Corona."

I hope you all are enjoying this story.
