Chapter 4: Catching Up
Merida's POV
I leaned against my mom as we walked away from the transport. It felt great to be with my mother again.
Then I looked around. Someone was missing.
"Where's Dad?" I asked.
Mom stopped walked. She looked sad. So did my brothers.
"What? Is he busy training the soldiers?"
Mom grabbed my hands and looked into my eyes. "Merida, he's dead."
"What?"
She nodded. "He was killed the night Zika took over."
I shook my head. "No, he can't be. He's unbeatable."
"Well, it was a cheap shot, but it killed him."
I collapsed. Tears started to stream down my face.
"How! How could this happen?!"
"Merida!"
I looked to see Hiccup run over. He knelt by me and held me. I cried as he held me.
"Fergus?"
I just nodded.
"My mom just told me too." He said as he held me tight.
We just sat there, holding each other. After a bit, I finally felt better. I let go of Hiccup and started to breathe.
"You good?" He asked.
"I think so."
Hiccup smiled and kissed my forehead.
"Oh, that's right. We have to get you two married!"
Hiccup and I looked at my mom confused.
"Well, you were engaged before you left, so we have to get you two married."
"Um, Mom. We already are."
Mom looked at us confused. "What do you mean?"
"I mean, Hiccup and I got married when we were on an island called Montinui. Chief Tui married us."
Valka walked up to Elinor. "I knew we were family already."
Mom looked just confused, then she smiled.
"Well, this calls for a celebration!"
Mom hugged Hiccup and we all walked towards the base.
We came to one of the houses. It had an S above the door.
"Snoutlout's house?" Hiccup asked. "You live here?"
"Yes, the royals were offered a house to live in. Given to us at the expense of the Riders."
Elinor opened the door and out came a gronkle who jumped on Hiccup.
"Who's this?" I asked.
"Huckley. One of Meatlugs babies. The boys fell in love with him and we kept him."
Huckley finally got off Hiccup and flew away. Hiccup gasped for breath.
"Oh, that reminds me," I said then I whistled.
From the transport, I saw Starlight jump out of the transport and start to walk towards us.
"What is that?" Mom asked.
Starlight finally climbed up the rafters to us
"Mom, meet Starlight, my dragon."
Mom looked scared, but Valka gasped. "It's another Fury!"
Valka walked over and started studying her. "She's beautiful."
Mom smiled and started to walk inside. "Come on, let's prepare some dinner."
...
Anna's POV
When everyone left, Elsa looked at me. I looked over at Kristoff. Then I motioned her to leave. She nodded. She grabbed Jack and Olaf's hand and walked away.
I looked at Kristoff and grabbed his hand. He smiled.
"You're as beautiful as the day I last saw you." He said.
I smiled. "Want to go for a walk?"
"Sure."
He led me to a beach nearby. Sven walked behind us. As we walked, I told him of all the adventures I've been on for five years.
"Wow Anna, that sounds quite amazing." He then stopped walking.
I looked at him. "Kristoff?"
A tear fell down his face. I walked closer to him.
"What's wrong?"
He looked at me as tears started to well up in the corners of his eyes.
"I thought I lost you."
I hugged him. He hugged me back.
"I'm still here."
He started crying. He went to his knees. I just held him.
When he was done, he looked at me.
"Anna, I want to ask you something."
I nodded. He pulled something out of his vest.
"Anna, you are the most extraordinary person I've ever known."
Realizing what he was doing, I started to cry.
"I love you with all I am. Will you marry me?"
He showed me a ring. I fanned my face because of the tears.
"Yes!"
I ran up to him and hugged him. He put the ring on. Then he kissed me.
"How long have you had that ring?"
"I bought it after the battle of DunBrock."
I smiled and kissed him again.
...
Rapunzel's POV
I walked up to my mom, how hugged me tightly.
"I'm so glad you're back." She said.
"It's good to be back."
I looked around. "Where's Dad?"
Mom looked concerned. "What is it?" I asked.
"Your father, he's been captured."
"By who?"
"Zika. She captured him and has held him, prisoner. That's how we were forced into the treaty."
Just then, a soldier walked up. "Your Majesty, we have news."
She nodded. "So, I've been running the Resistance ever since. I need to go. I'll meet up with you later."
She hugged me and walked to the soldier.
Eugene walked up.
"Man, this is great."
"Eugene." I hugged him tightly.
He smiled. "Want me to show you around."
"Sure."
Eugene grabbed my hand. He showed me the base and all its highlights.
"And here are the training grounds."
They were empty. Training dummies laid untouched.
"Which are empty, cause of Cassandra."
I felt someone staring at me. I looked to see Cassandra up on the rafters, staring at us.
"How long has she been here?" I asked.
Eugene looked at where I was looking. "She was the first to volunteer to fight. After a while, your dad made her General."
"She hates me."
Eugene shook his head. "Nah, she misses you. She's just in pain."
"Really?"
"Yeah, after training, there always a sadness in her face. She visits the memorial every day."
"Memorial?"
"Oh, right."
Eugene walked towards a hill in the distance. I followed.
We came to the top of the hill. I looked at the memorial in awe.
It was a statue of us. I had my daggers out in a fighting stance. Elsa was casting her magic. Anna was swinging a sword. Merida was aiming her bow. Jack was next to Elsa, with his staff lifted high. And above all of us, was toothless and Hiccup, with him pointing his sword. At the bottom, it read:
In memory of The Big Six
Who was lost at sea.
May we honor their names forever
"We got a sculptor to come in and make it," Eugene said.
He came up from behind me and wrapped his arms around me.
"It's beautiful," I whispered.
"You are."
I turned around and kissed him. I then put my head to his.
"I missed you so much," I whispered.
...
Elsa's POV
I looked out to the ocean. Fear gripped me. Some evil had taken my home and I had to fight for it. But it terrified me.
Jack came behind me and hugged me.
"What's wrong?"
"I'm scared."
"Of what?"
"War."
Jack nodded
"No one's ready for war. But it needs to happen."
"But what if I lose control?"
Jack walked around me and grabbed my hands. "It won't happen."
"How do you know?"
"Cause I won't let it happen. Because an act of true love..."
"Can thaw a frozen heart." I finished what he was going to say.
Just then Rapunzel walked up to us.
"Guys, you need to see this."
Hiccup's POV
I stared at the statue Rapunzel told us about. I had to admit, the handiwork was amazing. I looked at the others, who stared at it with awe.
"Amazing," Merida said.
"Yes, it is," Anna said.
"So, now what?" Jack said.
I looked back at the statue. "We honor their memory of us, by winning this war."
Well, now that everyone is caught up, time to get to the problem
