(Chapter 36: Honey, I shrunk Spider-Man!)
After the encounter with Black Cat and Ant Man, Jaune's weekend was practically villain free. Now, there was the occasional robbery and also Dust theft, but that was the normal grind he was glad to have. The weekend for the friendly neighborhood hero came and past, and now the start of the new week begins with him outside the school. He would usually look at the distance to see Beacon tower looming over his school, but he wasn't paying attention to the Huntsmen academy. Rather, he was talking amongst his peers, one in particular who just transferred to his school.
"First day at Midtown Highschool," Jaune said to MJ, the newly added member to his group of friends. "Nervous, MJ?"
"What?" MJ gave Jaune a shocked look. "Scared? That word is not part of my vocabulary. Excited is the word I'm experiencing."
Arriving early thanks with the help of MJ's aunt deciding to take both her niece and Jaune to school leaves both to talk to each other on how their weekend was as students passed them by to get started for today's lessons.
However, MJ wanted to talk about something that has been on her mind when seeing Jaune.
"I know I haven't seen much of you since we just met Friday, but you seem way too chipper on a Monday morning."
"Ah!" Jaune's mind flashed to a memory when he was holding Ruby close as they danced alone in the diner. "That's cause I'm always happy!"
MJ just raised an eyebrow at how forced his attitude was.
Dropping his façade, Jaune scratched the side of his nose and smiled apologetically.
"Was it that obvious?"
"For me, I'm used to reading people's shift in mood and tone. Picked it up when I was in drama club in my old school."
"Drama club? You did say you love performing, so you plan to join the school's drama club today?"
"Yup," The redhead answered. "After I graduate, I plan to be a famous actor. Was even picked in a few leads in some plays from my old school."
"Never really invested in plays or dramas. Though for Gwen, she prefers actual drama than ones that are on stage."
"Oh yeah, she told me when I was hanging out with her and her date at the dance, remember?"
"Yeah, about that," Trying to find the right words to say to her, Jaune looked down to his feet and sighed. "I'm sorry if I didn't come back. I know Gwen messaged me about Harry being home safe, but I was too tired to come back."
'It sucks that I have to lie to her,' Jaune wasn't sure if he should have told her about why he didn't return was because he was dancing with Ruby. He didn't want to make her feel like she was stood up and not like him and even cause a strain between Aunt May's friendship between MJ's aunt if he told her the truth. 'I even hate it more knowing that lying is starting to become second nature to me now.'
"It's fine," She shrugged. "You care about Harry's wellbeing. I would too when I see my friend's date dance with someone else."
"Speaking about my friend." Seeing the corning of his right eye, Jaune could see a familiar limo parking at the front of the school. "You get to see my friend, Harry."
"Gwen did say you guys were friends with a rich kid." She put her hands on her hips. "Did my research on Osborn and I got to say that I'm a bit jealous about having a friend whose family name is worth millions of lien."
"It does sound like it's cool to have a friend like that, but Harry and I got to be friend because I didn't know who he was at first. I only realized who he was after we became good friends and I haven't treated him any differently after finding out."
The passenger door opened to see Harry walk out of the limo.
"Morning, Harry," Jaune waved at his friend walked towards them. "I want to introduce you to someone, her name is-"
Harry walked past the two and entered the school.
"He has a nice personality." MJ commented on how Harry practically ignored Jaune and her. "Guess he must still be a bit sore about Friday's dance."
"Harry isn't like this, I'm sorry if he was acting rude." Opening the front door, Jaune invited MJ to enter first and then followed her inside. "I'll make sure to talk to him."
"Hey, it's fine for someone to vent out their frustration, Jaune. All Harry needs to do is blow off some steam and he'll be fine."
"You sure?"
"Positive."
"Well, MJ was right about what Harry needed to do was blow out some steam." Sitting on the bench, Jaune witnessed Harry's display of sheer brute force as he tackles player after player that tried to catch the football.
Harry was never the linebacker, yet today he was adamant to change positions for practice. But from the look of things, the coach was encouraging Harry for his new found energy.
'I haven't seen Harry like this before.' Flinching when he saw another player getting tackled to the ground by Harry, Jaune began to worry that maybe things would get worse if Harry keeps playing so aggressively.
And Jaune's worry did come true when he heard the sound of someone yelling the word "HIKE!"
Someone caught the ball and was making a mad dash to the end zone, but Harry was quickly gaining behind speed.
The only one close enough to cut Harry off was Kenny Kong, who was intercepting Harry and to stop him from reaching his fellow teammate.
Seeing Kenny, Harry did the unthinkable and stopped going after the player with the ball and instead charged at Kenny!
Now, looking at the two, it was like comparing a mouse attacking a large lion. Expecting to see Harry get knocked down by Kenny, everyone on the football team soon gaped in surprise when Harry not only overpowered Kenny, but also pinned him to the grass and started to hit him.
Before anyone could register the sight that was unfolding for all to see, Jaune sprang into action, ran towards the fighting, and pushed Harry off of the senior.
"Oof!" Landing on his side, Harry recovered back on his feet and was attempting to get back at Kenny. Only to have Jaune stand right in front of him with his hands raised to in front of Harry.
"Harry, calm down!" Jaune tried to reason with him, only it reached deaf ears as Harry pushed Jaune away. "Hey, I said calm down."
Grabbing Harry's right shoulder, the young hero's eyes turned wide when Harry grabbed Jaune's outreached hand and squeezed. Now, since Jaune has received superhuman levels of endurance thanks to the spider that bit him. It came to a shock when he actually felt a twinge of pain shoot though his hand and arm.
Him, Jaune Arc, the hero known as Spider-Man that took a car explosion to the face felt pain from Harry who had no Aura or any combat knowledge apply pressure to Jaune's arm.
The glare Harry was giving to Jaune soon stopped when the young Osborn snapped out of his haze. Releasing the hold on Jaune's hand, Harry took a step back and was speechless of what he was doing.
The two juniors were then surrounded by their fellow football players, with the coach be the first to speak.
"Alright, no more practice! Get changed over, all of you!" Dispersing the crowed, the P.E teacher looked at Harry who tried to sneak into the group. "Don't move, Osborn! Stay here, I need to talk to you. Arc, you can go. Thanks for breaking the fight."
"Yes, coach," Taking a look at his friend one more time. "See you later, Harry."
Not getting a reply, Jaune took that as his sign to leave his friend with the teacher and made his way to the locker room. While walking away from the field, Jaune massaged the hand that was getting crushed by his best friend.
"Ouch."
After the scuffle, Jaune didn't see much of Harry and decided that the best way to see him was waiting outside the front of the school.
"Can't believe Harry would do that." Standing next to Jaune was Gwen, her hands linked together and her face etched in worry after hearing what Harry did to Kenny. "Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Harry didn't really have the right, but to go this far? I never thought he was that mad about what happened."
"I hope we can catch him before he leaves. You didn't have to stay, Gwen. You need to go to the lab to help Dr. Connors, right?"
"You'll think I'll let you handle this alone? He's my friend too, Jaune."
"Right, right. Then I guess we'll both wait here." Nodding his head, Jaune went into silence that was copied by Gwen. Their silence was soon gone as they saw Harry's family car parking right at the front of their school.
The one driving got out of the front, walked over to the passenger door, and gave way as Mr. Osborn stepped out of the expensive car.
"Harry's dad is here?" Gwen frowned. "Shouldn't be surprised, Harry did kind of strike a student."
"Ah, Mr. Arc, Ms. Stacey, it's good to see you both." Signaling his driver to wait at the car, the rich tycoon greeted his son's best friends. "Are you waiting here due to my son's sudden aggression?"
"Yes, sir." Jaune answered. "I saw the whole thing when we were at practice. I'm sorry I wasn't fast enough to stop your son from doing something like this."
"Come now, Jaune, you're his friend, not his keeper." Putting a hand on the blond teen's shoulder and squeezing it in reassurance, Mr. Osborn smiles. "Don't beat yourself up over my son's hot headedness. You both show your care for him and right now, you both should leave the rest to me."
Not wanting to argue with their friend's dad, both teens said their goodbyes to Mr. Osborn and walked their way to Dr. Connor's lab.
"I was really hoping we could see Harry."
"Sometimes, it's all in the family that deals with situations like this. You can't just expect to just barge into someone else's personal issue like that."
Jaune stopped walking and gave Gwen a deadpan look.
"What?" She shrugged and then lamented on her hypocrisy. "Ok, yeah, I shouldn't be the one to say that last part since I'm all about seeing people argue. But you know what I mean! Sometimes the one to best deal with stuff like this is family. We should just give him some space and he'll confide in to us when he's ready."
"I hope he doesn't get suspended before he does."
"That too, Jaune, that too." Passing a few buildings, their destination was almost in sight. "I didn't see MJ with you? She left already?"
"Yeah, I told her that she didn't have to wait for me, but I think she might start doing after school stuff. She wants to join the drama club, saying she wants to be an actress."
"That's seems pretty legit if she makes it big." Now at the front of where she works, Gwen pulled out her scroll and began to type a message to someone. "I forgot that Dr. Connors messaged me about not being in the lab today, but Eddie should be inside doing to usual tasks for today. I'll see you tomorrow, Jaune."
"You don't want me to wait here with you?"
"Eddie is on his way to unlock the door, so you're good." The sound of the lab doors opening alerted them as Eddie pokes his head out of the door. "Hey, Eddie!" Gwen chirped in greeting.
"Gwen," He nodded to the girl before moving his eyes on Jaune. "Sup, dude. Heard about Harry, wasn't surprised that he decked Kenny. Guy kind of deserved it in my opinion."
"I suppose you're right," Seeing that he didn't want to bother Gwen with her work, Jaune waved the two goodbye and started his walk back to Aunt May's house. "See you guys later!"
"Welcome home, Jaune." Like always, Aunt May greeted the young man as he entered her home. "Go ahead and relax a bit. I'm just making some finishing touches to our dinner, we're having meatloaf."
"Can't wait, Aunt May." Deciding to lounge on the couch before going to his room, Jaune flipped the TV on to see the news.
The screen showed an image of the usual reporter, Lisa Lavender, talking behind the usual news desk.
"Masked vigilante swinging from building to building, a metal man who flies, and now someone who shrinks?. Tonight, we talk about more then just our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and take a brief history about other heroes that are now spreading to other kingdoms."
The camera shifted to an older gentleman with long white hair in a pony tail with an even longer beard wearing a lab coat.
"With me is Mr. Traveller, a renowned criminal phycologist who work is hailed to be the best within the medical field regarding the mind. It's great to have you, Mr. Traveller!"
"No thanks are needed, Ma'am. I'm happy to be here."
"Then I hope you can help us with answering our most asked questions about these masked heroes popping out of the kingdoms. It seemed like it was now just Spider-Man being the talk of town, but recently we've been getting word that Atlas has been starting to get their fair share of superheroes. Even starting to get rumors that Mistral is starting to talk about one showing up in their territory. Do you have any reason as to why they are now appearing and if there could be a possibility if more people decide to do the same as Spider-Man?"
Mr. Traveller took a deep breath and started to explain.
"What we have here is the basic power fantasy we all had when we were kids. We all wanted to be strong and defend to weak from the bad guys, but as we grow we start to drop such childish delusions. The people who are dressing up and enacting street justice are those who are still living in fantasy and are not fully adjusted to society. It will be inevitable that others who share the same mindset will become drawn to people like Spider-Man and start to immolate his action as their own."
"But people say otherwise." Lisa began a counter argument. "We've talked to people in Vale who told us heroic actions from Spider-Man. It seems to me that his actions are giving off a positive reaction in Vale."
"One mistake, Liza." Judas Traveller lifted one index finger in from of him. "Just one mistake from our so called 'heroes' and then the masses will soon see that their perfect view on super heroes are not infallible. If they truly wish to make sure their image is to be remembered as heroes, then they should quit while there ahead and let authorities and huntsmen do their jobs."
'Well, that killed my mood. I wonder if Aunt May needs help?' He changed his focus and chose to see how Aunt May was doing in the kitchen.
"Need help setting up the table?"
"Yes, please. I'm actually almost done."
Setting the table for two, Jaune pulled the chair out for Aunt May as she placed the meatloaf on the center of the table.
A quick prayer for the food, and the two began to eat as well as talk about each other's day.
"Oh, my!" The power of the house gasped at hearing what Harry did at school.
"It's all true, Aunt May. I even saw Mr. Osborn entering the school to pick up his son."
"I never expected Harry to be that violent."
"Me neither. I'm honestly surprised Harry could hold a grudge for this long after his date was stolen."
"I hope that boy won't be in too much trouble." Not liking how the conversation was going, Aunt May talked about another person's date to the dance. "Speaking about date, I never asked how yours went. Did you enjoy the dance?"
"Yeah," Jaune smiled. "I really enjoyed it. Thanks for setting me up with MJ."
"Jaune," She placed a hand on Jaune's hand and gave a knowing smile. "I think we both know I'm talking about a different girl with red hair."
"Oh." Jaune went in his head the number of girls he knew who has red hair. Two others beside MJ came to mine, but one in particular stood out the most.
"Oh!" The memory of dancing with Ruby at the diner was the only thing Aunt May was talking about.
"Oh." How Aunt May knew was even more obvious when he also remembered that the diner, he used to work for had an owner who was friends with Aunt May. "Oh, no."
"So," Seeing Jaune caught red handed, Mrs. Parker smiled sweetly and made sure to hold Jaune's wrist to show he had no choice but to stay seated. "Mind telling me who this mystery girl is that made you leave my friend's niece at your school?"
Swinging from house to house, Jaune, now dressed as his hero alter ego, was web swinging to meet with his new acquainted friend.
He thought it would be at some high tower or some secluded back alley that no one would go to in the dark.
Making it to the rendezvous point, Spider-Man did not expect to see a van that looked like it was ripped out of some sci-fi flick.
"Suddenly, the buildup of meeting Ant Man again is out the window." He mumbled. "I wonder if I should knock?"
Pounding his fist on the back of Ant-Man's van, the arachnid hero was greeted to see Scott opening the van doors. Scott wasn't alone, as Spider-Man could see three other men who looked at Spider-Man like a celebrity.
"Spider-Man!" Moving back in the van to give Spider-Man some room, Scott Lang introduced his allies. "I like you to meet my friends. The one with all the screen and keyboards is Kurt, a total wizard when it comes to hacking."
"Spider-Man, good to meet you." Was all Kurt could say, obviously having a hard time with what to say to someone who is practically Vale's most iconic person.
"Next to him," Spider-Man turned to another man who had dark skin wearing a beanie. "Is Dave, a cat burglar."
"Sup." This one seemed more relaxed compared to Kurt. His relaxed posture and even laid-back attitude really made him look like just some regular dude rather than a thief.
"And the last one is my best friend-"
"Hey, Spider-Man, I got to say that I love your work! My name is Luis!" The third member of Ant-Man's crew introduced himself. Even going so far as to take Spider-Man's hand and started to shake it as he continued to talk. "First of all, your suit looks dope, but in my opinion, I liked your original one. No offense, but that was a classic, you know what I mean? But this one is good too, we are about to do a heist, so it's perfect!"
"Heist?" That last part made Spider-Man pause and look at Scott. "You're doing a heist?"
"It's more like a break in." Scott clarified. "The place we're about to enter is just one block away."
Moving to the front of the Van, the size changing hero pointed at one building that had a large neon sign with 'Cross' being on the top of it.
"It looks pretty obvious, but that structure right there is owned by Darren Cross, a millionaire from my home in Mistral."
"Are you sure he's the one your after? After all, you did say that the guy you are after is using fake names."
"I'm positive he's the one we're after. I've been chasing him wherever I could, but we finally found where he keeps his knowledge about the particles." Looking at Kurt, the man who was their technical support started to tell Spider-Man more information about the building that is housing the rich man.
"I checked the camera feed that we installed a yesterday when we were pretending to be the repair guys. Right now, I have footage of him staying within his office, but there is a blind spot in the cameras. A section where I lose him for a couple of hours and then he reappears and does the same thing working at his desk."
"That blind spot in security could be where he might have the Pym particles. I thought he would have it in some secluded part in the city, but I guess he's too paranoid to leave it somewhere else." Scott soon took the conversation and explained his plan. "It's just a simple in and out mission. However, I'm positive with your help it would go much more smoothly."
"Ok, it sounds like a solid idea. So, what's our point of entry? Are we shrinking and sneaking in the front door?" Spider-Man Asked them.
"Well, we are going to shrink. However," Luis, Kurt, and Dave pulled out some plumber suits from under their seats. "You and I are going to enter in a very… unconventional way."
"This is the grossest infiltration I have ever done."
Spider-Man and Ant Man had successfully entered the structure with the help of Scott's friends pretending to be plumbers that was doing a scheduled check up on plumbing. Thanks to Kurt's talents, he was able to add in a fake schedule to allow them entry, giving both heroes the needed access to enter without any problems.
For Spider-Man, the main problem he was experiencing was that since they were mostly here for the plumbing their only stopping point was the bathroom.
"It would have been suspicious if we had them snooping around. Plus, we've been combing through this building long enough to know that the best way to go sneak into Cross' office is through this point that is just one floor below the blind spot."
With the two heroes shrunk to the size of an ant, the insect and arachnid themed heroes looked over the blueprints that Scott downloaded into his scroll to show Spider-Man the directions.
"Location aside, I'm still kind of amazed at how everything is so gigantic! I mean, I always thought we were small when thinking about life outside of Remnant, but being small like this really makes things even more other otherworldly."
"Yeah, I kind of had the same feeling once or twice when I was still new to being Ant Man, but you get used to it and even start preferring to be this size sometimes." Pointing at an area that was underneath the sinks of the men's bathroom, Ant Man and Spider-Man was faced with a large crevice that looked to be made from a leak that started to seep into the wall.
"Looks like we're the right size for this part," Spider-Man wasn't sure if Ant Man was making a joke or if he was serious. "If we enter here, then we should be near a water pipe."
"We're entering inside a water pipe? I can stick to the inside of the pipe and crawl above the water, but how will you be able to make it through?"
"They don't call me Ant Man just for my size, Spider-Man." Pressing something on his belt, Ant Man raised his right arm and sprayed some type of mist that soon evaporated in the air.
Not a second passed by and soon Spider-Man could here faint tapping coming from the inside of the wall.
"Waah!" Spider-Man jumped back when seeing a swarm of ants beginning to circle around the two and yet none of the ants attacked them. "They're docile? Was something inside that mist had some form of chemical property?"
"Yup, it's pheromones that help me communicate with ants." Surprising Spider-Man once again with some device that he removed from his belt. Ant Man activated the tool in his hand that soon shot a laser that was easily cutting the pipe.
"I can help with the next part." As Ant Man made a hole shaped lid, Spider-Man placed both his palms and used his strength and adhesive powers to lift the piece and tossed it a side. "Looking inside the pipe, I was kind of expecting to see brown than regular water."
"This is just the pipes for the sink." Commanding the ants to enter first, the large swarm entered the water pipe and started to topples one another to form a floating raft. "These Ants in particular can form tightknit groups that help them float. I don't have to worry about how long they can stay like this since they can keep this up for weeks."
Jumping inside, Ant Man landed on the pile of ants and began to ride the current leaving Spider-Man to crawl upside down and following his fellow hero's lead.
"How long till we make it to our destination?" Spider-Man asked.
"Not far, we just need to take a right when we reach a fork in the path. The most difficult part is that I can't really steer with ants."
"If you need help with control, then I have a solution." Crawling ahead, Spider-Man shot a web line at the front of the ant raft and attached the other end to his chest. "Just give me directions and we should be there in no time."
Arriving at the split of the pipe line, Spider-Man had no trouble pulling the added weight as he directed the raft to the right. What's even more noticeable was that with his small stature, Spider-Man felt little to no resistance to the pull and weight of what he was pulling. It almost feels like he wasn't pulling anything at all!
"Hey, Ant Man, can I ask you a question?"
"Sure, what do you need to know?"
"Well, it's about how small we are. Does it have any effects that could affect us physically?"
"Ah, I guess you're starting to see how your size is effecting your strength."
"Can you explain in more detail?" Even though Spider-Man was smart, dealing with particles that actually shrink you down to bug size was still hard for his mind to wrap around the concept.
"Basically, the Pym particles can alter your mass, strength, and density and yet you can still retain your normal strength density, enhancing it as we shrink. I'm a normal guy with average strength, but when I shrink, my enhanced density and strength gives me unnaturally high levels of physical force."
"If that's true, how much stronger do you get when you're like this?"
"If I'm normal size, then it'll just be a really hard punch, but when I'm the size of an ant, then I punch as fast and hard as a bullet!"
"A bullet!" Eyes wide underneath his mask, Spider-Man couldn't comprehend what its effects was like with him this small. 'I already have super strength of a spider, but now that I'm small, I wonder how strong my punch is?'
"Stop! We're right here!" Shouted Ant Man.
Standing in place, Spider-Man looked under him to see Ant Man reaching for the tool he used to cut open the pipe earlier. Passing the tool to Spider-Man, the ant hero instructed Spider-Man how to use it making it easier for Spider-Man to start cutting an exit.
"Watch your head," Dropping the piece that was cut out into the water below him, Spider-Man was the first to leave the pipe. "Here," The webhead stuck his arm out to Ant Man. "Take my hand."
Commanding his ants to lift him higher, the ant themed vigilante grabbed the offered hand and was lifted up by Spider-Man. It wasn't just Ant Man that was the last to leave, the ants started to use Ant Man as a climbing latter until all the ants that helped them were also out the pipe.
"We're right where we need to be, right?" He asked.
"Yeah," Checking the direction again, Ant Man saw that their location was literally on top of them. "We just need to climb up now of the wiring connecting to his office and we're good. However, something is acting up at his office."
"What's the matter?"
"There seems to be some massive interference at his office, it's the same spot that we couldn't see when hacking the cameras. Yet, when looking at the layout, I can see-"
'Spider sense!' Spider-Man looked around and saw no danger. 'Where is it coming from?'
Ant Man's talking was stopped when Spider-Man and Ant Man started to experience intense shaking that made Ant Man lose his footing. Spider-Man was lucky that his feet stuck to the pipe making him hard to shake off, but it could not be the same with Ant Man as he fell into the water.
Spider-Man though, was able to react quick enough thanks to his spider sense warning him before the danger starts. Intentionally falling inside the water pipe to rescue Ant Man, he was welcomed to a cold sensation enveloping him as he was submerged in water.
'OH, GOD! THIS WATER IS COLD!' Spider-Man screamed inside his head, since if he did scream his mouth would be dinking gallons of water that was for god knows where. 'I'm just an arm reach from Ant Man, I can't stop now!'
The current of the water was making it hard for Ant Man to swim to get some air, yet thankfully with Spider-Man able to hold his breath far longer than any normal human is able to calmly grab Ant Man and rise above the water.
'I got him!' His celebration was cut short, now that Spider-Man has to get back to the exit. 'I'm too deep in the water to shoot my web! I just need to swim higher and out of the water.'
Placing Ant Man's arm around his neck, Spider-Man swam to get air, only to have the water continually pushing him further and further down.
'I'm going to get tired by the time I reach the surface!'
Pushing his limbs faster and faster, Spider-Man was able to emerge out of the depths and took in air to refuel his lungs.
"BWUA!" Slapping the side of his helmet, the face plate ejected from its placing giving Scott Lang a better time breathing. "Thanks, you for the help, Spider-Man."
"We're not out of the water works yet. We still need to get back to the exit. Wrap your hands around my neck and I can crawl back."
"Alright," Removing himself from Spider-Man's hold, Ant Man did as he was told. "Ok, I'm ready. But be warned, it's only going to be much harder when we reach our destination."
"Warning from the fact that this is the den of your enemy aside, this office looks pretty immaculate!" Coming back to where they were washed away from, the two heroes finally made it inside Ant Man's arch enemy's office.
Spider-Man never really been into some cooperate executive office before, even when Jaune gets invited to Harry's home and his father had his own work worm. Everywhere he saw looked like the interior of the room and the stuff decorated must be over the 1,000 Lien.
"Rich guy that has a large business, but is also a secret villain. That's like, two genres from every comic book I know come to life. Can I ask if this guy is also a basket case too?"
"Oh, yeah," Ant Man chuckled at how spot on Spider-Man pinned Cross as crazy. "Like you can't imagine! If you saw the news about how he's all smiles and a professional attitude is all a lie when you really see him behind closed doors! The guy's a psycho and has a superiority complex!"
"Cool, cool," The spider hero just nodded his head and followed behind Ant Man. "A hero team up against some rich, crazy, and a bruised ego super villain that has a hold on a secret weapon. I swear, if his secret room is open via book case I will forever place him as 'generic'."
It was not a secret bookcase, rather it was a concealed wall that they were able to enter via shrinking even smaller to enter between the think cracks.
"I'll let him pass with this little hide out."
Activating the pym particles in his belt, Ant Man grew back to the size of an ant and then started to do the same with Spider-Man.
"Brrr!" Spidey shakes his head from the constant shifts in mass. "It's like I'm experiencing what it's like to be those things that are small and can grow if you just add water to them. I think I'll never get used to this if I ever get another opportunity."
"At least be thankful that it's the pym particles I'm using and not what Darren Cross has been trying and failing to make." Tapping on Spider-Man's shoulder, Scott pointed at some tables that had glass cages.
"I bet whatever is in those things are his experiments. That means, his personal computer is-" Scott moved his eyes and found what he was looking for. "There! I see a laptop right next to one of the glass boxes!"
"Then get on my back and I'll start climbing!"
Their trek was short as Spider-Man combined his wall crawling and web shooting to hasten their arrival. Now, on top of the science lab, Ant Man walked to the giant laptop confusing Spider-Man on what his fellow crime fighter was going to do next.
"I don't see cameras in this room, this must mean that this little getaway is his own little project."
"Maybe hidden camera?"
"Possibly, but I bet that this laptop will have everything that could record us. We'll just have to hack in and just delete anything that could be connected to us."
"Are we going to go back to being normal size?"
"Better!" Pressing a button on some cartridge on his belt, Scott showed Spider-Man some small disk. He then tossing the small disk at the laptop and within an instant it became as small as they are. "This is probably his personal computer, there's no way he would be dumb enough to house all his more important endeavors on the one he has in his office."
"We're taking his personal stuff? Won't he notice?"
"That's where this little guy," Once more, Scott pulled out a USB drive from his utility belt. "Will help us crack whatever encrypted files he has, download what we need, wipe out any evidence we were here and leave!"
Plugging in the small USB, Ant Man went to work on Cross's laptop, while Spider-Man began to look at whatever was in the glass cases.
"These are incredible!" He said in wonder. "It's like I'm seeing what each kingdom's environment without even being there!"
Spider-Man made sure to be within sight of Ant Man as he looked at the miniature terrariums that each case had. One had the think dense woods of Vale, with its dense trees and even some ruined buildings that was probably from some ruined villages that was caused by Grimm.
Another has mounds of sand that held an oasis in the center, making this one a representative of Vacuo. The terrarium even had its own specially made heating system that produced its own heat wave that could even be felt when Spider-Man pressed his hands on the glass.
The other two was obviously from Atlas and Mistral having one with ice and snow and the other with waterfalls and some hills that could only look to be manmade. Each one looked to be so intricate and realistic, Spider-Man thought that these masses of land might have even been taken from the actual kingdoms thanks to the particles that Scott uses.
"They all look pretty, are these Darren's successful experiments?" Stepping close to the one case that was from Vale, Spider-Man put a hand on the glass and looked deeper into the case. "But why make these things?"
His question was answered when his hands felt vibrations coming within the box.
'I feel something coming in this glass cage. It's getting closer!'
Spider-Man's eyes saw that the trees started to rustle from whatever was passing through. Trees started to tumble and the ground within the mini forest started to shake as the cause of things was beginning to get closer and closer to Spider-Man.
"Well, that explains why Mr. Cross would make these kinds of tanks!"
Standing right behind the glass was a spider, it's eight eyes staring dead center at Spider-Man as it also uses the two small pedipalps to clean its gigantic fangs.
And by gigantic, it was MASSIVE!
"This spider is large! I mean, I've seen spiders before, but this one seems abnormally large. Pym particles most likely, is Darren Cross using these creatures to test how it effects the kingdoms?"
Seeing a meal, the giant spider reared its fangs and placed it's from legs to the thick glass. Its fangs glistening from the light and its legs tapping the glass made the hero take a step back.
"Hey, easy, easy!" Putting a hand in front of him, Spider-Man could see that the spider started to give up on the prey and eased away from the barrier. "Hey, Ant Man, are you done yet?"
"Almost done, just looking at something interesting." Typing on the keyboard, Ant Man's head reared back. "My god, I can't believe he would do this! We need to get inside these now!"
"Inside the glass case that houses a very large and a very hungry looking spider?" Spider-Man said while pointing at the Vale like imitation display case.
"He isn't just testing to see how living creatures are effected by the particles!" Turning the screen to show Spider-Man, the web head saw different pictures of different faces from young to old. "He's been kidnapping people and is shrinking them in these very cages!"
Not wasting any more time, Ant Man grabbed a hold of Spider-Man and forced him to follow his pace.
"Are you planning to break them out?"
"No, too messy and security will storm the office in seconds! What I'm about to do is shrink even smaller!"
"How small!?" Spider-Man asked as they were getting closer and closer to hitting the glass wall.
"Small enough!"
And just when Spider-Man thought this adventure would get strange, it just became even more stranger when all Spider-Man saw was a kaleidoscope of colors.
Spider-Man did not understand what he was seeing as he was experiencing the sights that was being shown to him via shrinking. To be truthful all he could see was streams of colors passing him by he thought that he was hallucinating rather than shrinking smaller.
He saw things, from small microscopic creatures that couldn't be seen by the naked eye, to the atoms that make up matter itself.
'I'm going to vomit in my mask!' Spider-Man wailed as he steeled himself from the hellish ride. 'Other than that, this is pretty cool if my stomach wasn't committing suicide!'
And as if hearing his prayers, the constant viewing of color started to slow down and was replaced by a new view of the inside of the glass box. Resizing to the size they were from the other side; Ant Man walked a head of Spider-Man to begin the search.
"Whoever is inside here isn't far, just over that hill in front of us." Said Ant Man.
"Yeah, yeah, just-" Spider-Man raised a hand gesture at Ant Man to hold on. "Please stand by."
Raising his mask, the arachnid teen allowed his stomach sweet release as he vomited on the fertile soil. Taking a couple of breaths, Spider-Man pulled his mask over his mouth and sighed in relief that the ride was over.
"Sorry, I have a bad case of motion sickness."
"Motion sickness? You?"
"Ironic I know, since my main motive is swinging around the city with webs. But besides that, we need to rescue the hostages."
"More like forced donors." Ant Man said with heavy venom. "All this time I thought he was just sending out goons just to sell information about the Pym particles to sell, but it was for something even more disturbing. I downloaded more than just files about what Cross has about the particles, but I found out that he has a serious condition that needs donors."
"Donor? Or donors?"
"Donors. Plural." That made Spider-Man's eyes under his mask go wide as saucers.
"He goes through donors like anyone does with loafs of bread. Taking them from the slums from every kingdom he visits while covering his tracks. He keeps them in places like these to save space and also to see how far the particles can be used."
"How long has he been in Vale? I should have noticed disappearances like these."
"That's the problem with Pym particles. It leaves no trace, no evidence, and the police can't really file a report about kidnappers using science to make things small."
"My god," Spider-Man put a hand to his head. "These poor people."
"Don't blame yourself, Spider-Man. You didn't know anything about this until I showed up. I'm even more indebted to you when I saw a list of donors, I saw my daughter being on that list."
"I- Wait!" Crouching down, Spider-Man felt small vibrations coming from the west. "I feel movement, one-no two sets of vibrations."
"Is there anything else you can tell about them?"
"One small and the other massive. And I can bet that whatever that small set of vibrations could be our missing person come on we need to move!"
"HELP!" Was the first sound they heard as they passed tall trees and shrubbery. What came into view was another thing entirely.
"They shrank a freaking Deathstalker too!?" Screamed Spider-Man.
The person in distress was hiding between a rock and the side of a dead tree that was large enough to make it hard for the scorpion Grimm to reach him with its pincers.
"Talk about being between a rock and a hard-"
"SCREE!" Giving up on its prey, the Deathstalker sets its gaze on the new meals that just walked into view.
"Don't you just hate it when they don't let your finish witty one line?" Said Spider-Man as the two gave each other space when a giant yellow stinger attempted to impale them.
"We need to get this thing away from the civilian!" Shouted Spider-Man. "Ant-Man, I'll distract this thing by acting as bait."
"Ok!" Not arguing with Spider-Man, the size changing hero headed straight to help the captive while Spider-Man kept his distance from the enemy while also getting its attention.
"Nice night light!" Taunted Spider-Man, his dust infused web shooters were firing ice webs to keep the Grimm from reaching him. "Bet that helps you from being scared in the dark!"
Swatting away the ice with its massive claws, the Deathstalker chased Spider-Man deeper and deeper into the thick forest and giving the other hero enough time to help rescue the captive.
"These trees should do with what I'm about to do next." Shooting a web line to a thick branch, Spider-Man was lifted in the air and began to circle the large scorpion while pelting it with more ice dust webs. "Already in a big glass cage and now about to be in a small ice cage! I hope PETA doesn't see this!"
Screeching at Spider-Man, it lashed its massive stinger, breaking the ice and making them into deadly projectiles. Dodging a few as they missed him and impaling the trees, Spider-Man soon lost his momentum when one ice shrapnel severed his life line.
Thinking fast, he ejected another web line on another branch just before he landed on the ground and attempted to start the process of trapping the scorpion all over again.
Getting more agitated, the Deathstalker started to attack the trees surrounding it, knocking over trees and causing them to fall.
"Gah!" One of the trees that was knocked down was the one Spider-Man was using to maneuver around his foe. And with almost all the tress within his vicinity being knocked down, Spider-Man braced his body as he not only landed on the ground, but also as trees began to fall on top of him.
"Ugh!" Spider-Man groaned. "My body may be denser cause of being small, but does that also apply to trees too? Either way, this just hurts."
'I feel fine, but I need to move these trees off me.'
Using his strength, Spider-Man was lifting off the heavy debris only to feel his spider sense warning him to move his head.
"Woah!" Doing as he was told; the hero just moved his head to the right and avoided serious impalement from the Deathstalker's stinger. "God! Seeing this thing up close is making me blind from how bright this thing is!"
Attempting to sting the downed prey, Spider-Man's spider sense continued to scream for him to break free, but with the combined weight of the Deathstalker on top of him was making it kind of difficult.
"If you really want to impale me," Spider-Man was lifting the logs as he was talking to the scorpion. "Please, please, PLEASE! Not the face!"
Bringing its glowing barb down, the hero's spider sense flared one more time in his head when suddenly, his mind was as empty and calm like the ocean.
'Huh?'
(SCREEE)
Out of nowhere, the same large spider that was seen from before charged at the scorpion and knocking away from the spider hero. Not finished with its assault, the spider lunged at the toppled Grimm and tried to stab the beast with its two large fangs.
Not out of the fight yet, the scorpion Grimm stopped his opponent's advancement by using its pincers to defend his vulnerable undercarriage and pushing the spider back to give it time to place it back in its many appendages.
'Now's my chance to escape!' Pushing the trees that were trapping him. The arachnid teen got on his feet and was using this chance to leave the two monsters to themselves. 'I can use this opportunity to regroup with Ant Man and leave!'
Shooting a web line to meet up with Ant Man, Spider-Man tugged in his line and was about to let gravity take hold.
"This is why people are afraid of spide-"
A pained screech fell on his ear as the spider hero looked over his shoulder to find that the scorpion was now having the advantage as it was pinning the spider down on its back. It raised its stinger for the final blow and lunged forward to stab at the spider's exposed underbelly.
(TWHIP)
The attack was soon stopped when a spider web halted the attack and even going so far as to make the scorpion's tale rear back away from the large eight-legged creature.
"I can't believe I'm saying this," Taking one step back and putting more power in his arms, Spider Man dragged the Grimm off the spider. "But stay away from my brother from another mother!"
Not liking the interruption from it pulled its tail, flinging Spider-Man in the air and went past the Deathstalker and landed on top of the spider.
"Oof! Woah!" Grabbing on to dear life as the giant spider flailed about from the sudden weight on its back, Spider Man used his hands to shoot two life line at the Spider's pedipalps. "Woah, easy there!"
It somehow made an effect of controlling the larger arachnid to the point that it stopped moving wildly.
"I'm a tiny person, fighting a shrunken Deathstalker, while also riding a spider. If this does not count as one of the coolest things to do before you die, then I don't know how to live anymore!"
With the spider in control, the young hero ordered it to attack the Grimm as the two were back at each other with their main weapons of fangs and stinger ready for the moment to strike.
Thankfully, with the help of Spider-Man's danger sense, he was able to help his fellow arachnid by shooting the poison barb to give his spider companion a better chance to attack. The front forelimbs pushed the large bone white pincers back, keeping the Deathstalker in an awkward position with its main weapons unable to react.
"Push it further into the trees!" Shouted Spider-Man.
As if understating his words, the spider pushed the scorpion between two trunks giving Spider-Man the opportunity to shoot two web lines on each tree and the webs across him.
They fell on to the scorpion's claws and making extra sure they would be stuck, Spider-Man shot organic and ice webs to keep them from breaking free.
Jumping off his ride, the human spider was in the air between the actual spider and the Grimm scorpion who was getting its stinger ready to strike. Shifting his body to dodge the blow, he used one hand to touch the glowing stinger, and used his other hand to shoot a web line behind the Deathstalker.
Pulling both ends, Spider-Man forced the tail to the ground and started to coat it with webs to keep it on the ground leaving the main body for attack.
"NOW!" He screamed and just like before, the spider understood the order and plunged its two massive fangs deep into the Deathstalker's face.
Driving the fangs deeper and deeper into the face of the Grimm only made it scream louder as it felt the venom course through its body with each motion of the spider's bite. It pathetically kicked and thrashed, only to have Spider-Man start to shoot more webbing at the dying monster's legs to further immobilize it until the venom fully kicks in.
The creature's movements start to slow down, only the occasional twitch from the legs was a sign that it clung to life, but after the 5 twitch the body soon began to disintegrate and was nothing but ash in the wind.
"That's how spiders do things!" Said Spider-Man. "Now, I just need to-oh wait, forgot about you."
Now that its rival is gone; the spider's eight eyes zeroed in on Spider-Man. It reared its fangs and readied its body to attack, only to stop when Spider-Man raised an open palm at it.
"STOP!" He commanded and when he spoke that word the arachnid complied. "So, I wasn't imagining things. You can understand me, can you?"
Its stare was the only reply.
"Unbelievable," Spider-Man took a step only to have the large arthropod rear back it's legs and display its fangs. "I'm not going to hurt you! We just fought a Deathstalker together, that has to show we're connected by a small margin at least."
Slowly approaching the cautious arachnid, the human softly placed a hand on one of the legs and spoke in a more soothing manner.
"Thank you for saving me."
Not seeing him as a threat, the spider eased into Spider-Man's touch and for a brief moment the two stood in silence.
"Hey, Spider-Man," The silence was ruined when Ant Man came out of the woods with the hostage safe and sound. "Did you take care of the-BIG SPIDER!"
(SCREE)
Getting back in a defensive position from seeing two new threats, Spider-Man talked the creature to calm it back down. "They're not here to hurt you! They're my friends! Ant Man, guy I don't know, walk back a few steps it doesn't want you two so close to it."
"Spider-Man," Ant Man and the rescued civilian backed away and was at a distance that made the large beast calm down. "You can talk to spiders? I didn't know you can do that."
"That's the thing, Ant Man." Climbing on top of his newly acquired ride, Spider-Man patted its head which the spider did not seem to mind. "I didn't know either."
"Thank you, Spider-Man, Ant Man, you have no idea how indebted I am to the both of you."
"Don't mention it, sir. We're just happy that we found out sooner rather than later."
"Yes," The man who was now back to normal sized turned to see his fellow rescues getting the same treat of becoming normal size again. "I don't know how much longer we would all survive in those things with that monster dumping so many Grimm and other deadly creatures in with us."
They were no longer in the glass cases inside Daren's secret office. With the help of Ant Man transporting everyone safely via Pym particles, they were able to get back to the van and drive as far away from the building without sounding any alarms. Where they are now is at an underground parking lot, miles away from where they were and to make even more sure they were saved, had Kurt use his techno genius to scramble any devices that are within range.
"Some of you guys are from Mistral and Vacuo. Guess that means Cross is probably still getting ready to start snatching up people in Vale." Ant Man reasoned.
"Do you think he already started?" Asked Spider-Man.
"I don't know, but since he's been in Vale for a short period people would start to get suspicious if people start disappearing at the same time he rolled into town. And even if he does plan to start his kidnapping here, he would be hard pressed to know that the Pym particles, any knowledge regarding said particles he had are gone and also his prisoners are free too."
"Then I'm happy that everything worked out." Yawning, the spider hero soon started to feel sleep beckoning him to go home and go to bed. "You sure you can help them get back home?"
"I got someone coming to help transport them to their home kingdom. Even though they're safe, they can't really report this to the police since they would be considered crazy. Even worse is that if they do plan to spill how did this, then Darren Cross would do his best to keep them silent. Right now, the only thing they can do is just live their lives and make sure to keep their heads down."
"They can't possibly live their lives like that."
"In Mistral, our economy practically revolves around under the table deals and illegal activity. If you have the Lien, which Cross does, then you're practically untouchable in Mistral. It's so bad, that the only people you can trust are the gangs and crime families who live in Mistral. Sure, they ask you to pay up for their help, but at least they show loyalty to one another."
"That's horrible!" Spider-Man thought Roman was bad, but hearing about Mistral made him glad he didn't have to worry about constant crime in Vale. If he ever lived in Mistral, then he was sure he wouldn't get an ounce of sleep if he was fighting crime all on his lonesome.
"It's not all bad, kind of, people still get by and it's not like there's a shoot-out every day or something. Honor among thieves is a very serious motto where I come from and criminals must follow said code too if they want to live in Mistral. Both figuratively and literally."
"I'll take your word for it then. So, if you're sure you don't need my help I'll just get out of your hair and call it a night. Oh! Before I forget, I'll make sure to let Iron Man know about you, in case there is a chance you two might meet in the future. And hey, if you ever need help, you have Iron Man and I to help you whenever you're in a pinch!"
"Thank you once again for the help, Spider-Man." Ant Man said gratefully. "I'm not sure how long I'll stay in Vale, but if you ever need help, know that I'm just a scroll call away."
"Thanks, oh and before I forget!" Walking to the van, Spider Man pulled out the same terrarium that housed his little friend. "Can't forget this little buddy of mine! I would hate to have him on his lonesome at that office. I know you said about trying to leave without a trace, but I couldn't leave this little guy."
"It's fine," Ant Man shrugged. "It's not the first time my plans tend to get improvised. So long as we got what we came for I'm fine with the results."
Leaving Ant Man and his crew to themselves, the teen hero left the underground parking lot and web swinged back to his home.
Finally, back in his room, Jaune pulled his mask off and breathed in and out the familiar air.
"I should find a place for your new home." Looking down at the new addition to the house, Jaune could see the spider that helped him defeat the Grimm stare back at him. "The desk should be good for now, until I move some stuff around to find a better spot for you."
Moving some school work aside and opening his desk drawer to put some school supplies away. He saw his notebook that was filled with his ideas and thoughts regarding his hero persona.
"Wonder how long it's been since I used this thing." Putting the glass case on the desk, he grabbed the notebook and flipped around to see what he jotted down. "I do remember trying to make a new suit design. But now that I'm using stuff Uncle Ben used during the war, do I even want to make a new one?"
'Now that I think about it, I should have gone back to my original suit now that Lien really isn't much of an issue.'
Flipping among the pages, Jaune stopped at one page that had an unfinished spider design that still held his original colors scheme.
"I could use a new look." He mumbled. "Maybe tomorrow," Jaune looked at his scroll to show he only had three hours before the sun rises. "Or when I'm at school."
Closing the book and putting it next to his pet's cage. Jaune changed back in his usual sleeping attire and laid down on his bed. Sleep soon closing his eyes as his body began to feel the exhaustion after today's events finally kicking in.
"Goodnight." Jaune said to no one in particular as he finally let go of his conciseness.
"…"
"…"
"…"
"…"
"G..oo..d…nig..ht"
Perhaps he was too tired to notice, or maybe he was already dreaming without even realizing it. But he could have sworn that someone replied back.
Jaune's sleep was short that day, leaving him tired and a bit sluggish when dealing with school work in class. Though his teachers may favor him due to his diligence and knowledge, he only had some small reprieve from answering questions, but he was still a student and so was not able to fall asleep during said classes.
Harry was not seen in school, he was, as Jaune feared, was suspended for the rest of the week from his actions at practice with another player. Jaune tried to call his best friend, Gwen too, but the sound of Harry's automated voice mail was the only reply they received.
With sleep still coaxing him to close his eyes, the thoughts of what will happen to his best friend, Jaune's only solution he could think of was focusing on his notebook from last night.
Eyes looking at each page that housed thoughts and little notes about his new costumes and gadgets made him start to focus on picking up this little hobby again. If he did indeed plan to make a new costume, then it was by pulling out one of his older designs and see if he could make it a reality.
'If I remember a couple of hours ago, the one picture should be-' Flipping a page that had a spider suit that had was a skin tight suit that was mainly red and black. Jaune came across the same unfinished spider suit that was half drown and had the same colors as his first suit minus the ripped hoodie. 'Found it!'
"Looking at it now," Jaune moved his fingers over the suit design and looked at some small scribbles about what was needed to make it. "I think I could make this in around a month or two. I just need to save some personal Lien whenever I have some left."
As Jaune pulled out a pencil to finish the half-made drawing, his ears picked up some of his classmate's gossip that made him trail away from drawing.
"Did you hear about last night?" Said one of the students sitting in front of Jaune.
"No, I didn't watch the news this morning. Ok, to be honest, I never really watch the news." Said the other student sitting next to him.
"Someone was assaulted and was almost kidnapped."
Hearing about what happened, Jaune stopped drawing for just a moment, but kept going to pretend he wasn't listening when the two boys sitting in front of Jaune looked back at him.
"So, was the person attacked in the hospital? Or did someone just find the body?"
'Someone was attacked? Was Ant Man wrong about Cross starting his kidnapping in Vale? No, if he was responsible then his goons would have been more discreet.'
"No, that's the thing! The guy was saved by Spider-Man!"
'Thank goodness,' Jaune let out a breath of relief from hearing that Spider-Man was able to save- 'Wait a minute!'
"Spider-Man!?" Jaune shouted as he stood up from his chair. His outburst was heard throughout the classroom, leaving his face to turn red as he made himself the center of attention. "Sorry."
Plopping his rear-end back on his chair, Jaune saw the two boys looking at him. "Sorry that I eavesdropped. I'm, uh, a really big fan of Spider-Man."
"Hey, in this kingdom, who isn't a fan of Spider-Man!" Not seeing the harm in another person joining the chat, the first boy who was the cause of the conversation went back about what he learned. "Like I said before, Spider-Man showed up, took care of the guys, and made sure to protect the victim until the police arrived."
"Did the person get a description of what Spider-Man looked like?" Asked Jaune.
"What he looked like?" Placing a fist under his chin, he started to go through his memories about what was said on the news. "He changed his outfit for one. I used to recall that he wore a red and blue suit, the blue mostly being a torn hoodie. Then, he started to wear an all-black suit for some time. Now though, it seemed he went back to red and blue, but without the hoodie and even had some cool extra features."
"What kind of cool features." Jaune asked as he looked back at his drawing that sounded eerily similar to what this new spider person was wearing.
"Like, how he had his suit lined with spider webs and that he had a slim spider symbol at the center and then one big red spider symbol in the back."
'How he describes him can't be denied,' Putting his hand over the page, Jaune could not process how this person had made a suit that sound identical to what he planned to make. 'It's just like mine! It should be impossible to have people make the same thing, let alone being dressed as Spider-Man!'
Closing the notebook, Jaune pulled out hi scroll to find more information. What he found further sent his mind spiraling into confusion.
"No way," What he saw was news articles depicting Spider-Man and even showed an amateur drawing that looked exactly like his own design only completed. "I can't believe what I'm seeing. W-who the hell in this guy!?"
Ok, first and foremost I apologize for not posting this last month, but I hope that this surprise came out as good as I hoped. That's right, as we all know that there will be another enter the spiderverse movie coming soon. I planned to have my fanfic be part of another author's fanfic in a way to introduce a new concept for my story.
I am making somewhat of a Marvel FanFic multiverse within my story and several other authors ideas of creating their own marvel fanfic.
Some might think that this is early, other might think it was about dang time I would do this. However, this will not be a big show out, no, what I plan is just a small glimpse for Jaune to see that his world is much bigger. This is more of a gateway then a full-on multiverse madness arc, it will only show another author and myself for now.
I will not neglect the RWBY main story, as a matter of fact, both spiders will do their daily life while also still getting involved with Beacon's mess. The breach will occur and it will be up to the two heroes that wear the mask to save the kingdom. I will not say anymore on who this spider is and what genre he came from, if you know who the character was originally from then leave it in the comments.
Now, I have not really understood how Pym Particles actually work. I know some of you will think that you need Ant Man's suit to use the particles or else something bad would happen, but I'm using the comic origins where Ant Man shrunk Spider-Man by accident and had not caused any real problems. Of course, I won't make it that convenient, since read up on some of the side effects of using too much will make you a little bit crazy if not wearing a special suit.
For the death stalker and the spider, I know it would confuse you to wonder why I had both in the same area. Well, it was like the call back to the movie with the kids who are shrunken in their back yard and I loved it when I was a kid. The spider was there to add the new power Jaune has and also because it would be weird if he was able to control a Grimm spider. The size thing between them was that the death stalker was shrunken down and the spider grew to be around the same size as the grimm scorpion. Also, I watched a bit of Primal and wanted to have Jaune fight along the big spider in an epic fight.
Some of you will think that Jaune's new ability is stupid and not canon. However, in my first chapter I wrote that Jaune's abilities will be more akin to Kaine's abilities. One of them was his connection with spiders or creatures with eight legs. I also plan to actually add my own idea of giving Jaune an ability that is related to another family of spider that could also be useful. It's a bit OC if I do add this ability to Jaune, but at this point Jaune in my story is my own and is already kind of away from being Peter Parker.
Like Stane, in the story Darren Cross (A.K.A Yellow Jacket) is not dead and is kind of more in line with his comic book counterpart rather than the movie. I hope you all will understand why and also will like this chapter knowing that it's finally time to see something far more interesting that is not from Remnant and from a different universe.
Apologies if some of the things Ant Man did the in the story is not up to par with those who are a fan of the hero, but know that I will make sure he will show his full potential when they once again team up in the Vytal Festival Arc.
For the author who reached out to me for this arc, he is Magister Of Oz and when you are done reading this chapter you all should check his story about his Spider-Man story. As well as checking my Beta Reader's stories too. Leave a comment if you have questions that I was not able to answer in this A/N, and also like and follow for more up to date news. Thank you and I hope you will enjoy the small glimpse of the Marvel FanFic universe!
Before I forget, I would also like to apologize in advance, since the month of December I will not post a new chapter due to me being on some company retreat and will focus more on that rather then making another update.
'Nights like these, I would always look up in the sky and be greeted with the starry night and the moon bright moon.'
The stranger looked up and was still baffled about one of the many glaring problems this place has that is different from his home.
'A shattered moon.' He couldn't wrap his head around the science behind how this place was not flooded with water or a massive shift in nature. Instead, he rather enjoys seeing such an impossible phenomenon, making him somewhat happy to know that he was in a place that looked like one of fantasy straight from the pictures he sees from his home. 'I wonder how everyone is doing right now? I'm pretty sure they would like to see a place like this.'
His peace was ruined when he felt the back of his skull tingling. Making him start to move to some direction without any reason as to why.
'Even some fantasies have nightmares it seems.' The figure was not on a different roof top looking down to see two men wearing suits dragging someone by the arms. 'These people are definitely not part of the law, so my guess is that their kidnappers or gangsters. Looks like they roughed up the guy from all those bruises.'
Looking closer at the person getting dragged by the arms, he could also see a pair of dog ears on top of the person's head. 'People with animal ears. It was hard enough for me to swallow the fact that there's a shattered moon, but people with animal parts is something I never knew would be here.'
Stopping for a second, the nameless criminal on the right reached inside his suit pocket. The tingling on the back of his head made the stranger on the roof move, as if some unknown force told him that trouble was just about to happen.
(TWIP)
Not prepared as a web net trapped the kidnapper and stuck him on the side of the wall, the only remaining thug was about to pull out a weapon when he felt his feet no longer touching solid ground.
"It sounds really bad if I thought that I was glad to witness a kidnapping." Hearing someone talking from behind him, the one dangling in the air turned his head and was greeted to the sight of compound bug eyes. "Cause right now, I need something familiar to me to not feel like I'm not going crazy. Luckily enough, hitting bad guys repeatedly is the nostalgia I need."
"Are you sure you're ok to move around? I could take you to the hospital."
"No, you did enough for me just waiting for the cops to arrive." The faunus said to his hero. "They shouldn't be to far from here now. I can't help but say thank you."
"Hey," The hero looked at the pair of assailants who were hanging upside down on a light post. "It's what I do. After all-"
Stepping into the light, the person who helped saved the faunus was someone wearing a red and blue spandex suit, with the most familiar ensemble being a spider on the chest.
"I'm your friendly neighborhood Spider-Man!"
