(chapter 55 The start of something new)
"We finally get to talk, Spider-Man." Eye patch man said. "You already made quite the waves when you showed yourself in your costume to Vale like you just came out of a comic book. But now? Stopping a massive invasion not once but twice? Along with a group of other masked vigilantes with unique and amazing skills? I just had to come and see you as soon as possible."
'All this just to see me?' Looking back at all the masked mercs out cold, Spider-Man moved his leg to walk away, but the warning from his spiders informed him that the man with the bow was aiming right at Spider-Man's head if he tried to take another step. 'Sheesh! All this undercover work to talk to me? The word 'pushy' can not describe how this guy acts.'
Showing that he was not going anywhere, the bald man talked.
"You, Spider-Man, have entered into a game you can't walk away from."
"A game I can't walk away from? Must be some game." As Spider-Man replied, the wall-crawler asked the spiders to figure out how this guy got the drop on him. "What kind of game is it? Elder circle? Crimson Birth? If it's a board-related game, I don't want to play, not that I hate board games, just specifically the one where you have to buy property."
The mysterious man was not affected by Spider-Man's jester and continued to explain what Spider-Man was dealing with.
"You may have stopped Cinder from acquiring the power of the Maiden, but the true Queen has yet to show her move."
"Seriously?" Sagging his shoulders and moving his head to the side, Spider-Man had to sigh at the man's use of chess as a way to describe the true mastermind. "I told you, I am not good with board games, even if it doesn't involve buying property. And using chess to describe how intelligent and secretive this person is, is a cliche taste."
Finally, getting the guy to react by using his one eye to roll at Spider-Man's goofy response. Spider-Man told a spider to land on the dark-skinned adult in hopes that Spider-Man could use an arachnid to track him later after ending this conversation.
Instead of landing on his shoulder, the tiny spider goes right through him.
'So that's why the spiders and I couldn't detect him. He wasn't a threat to begin with since he was never here in the first place.'
"Let's just cut to the chase then," Deciding to no longer tiptoe around the subject. "You and your friends found out that night that Magic is real. Those fairytales your parent read to you-"
"Didn't really read those books when I was a kid. I was more into comics."
"Are real. What Cinder had was of a Maiden, the Fall Maiden specifically, and if she continued to have the power of the Fall Maiden. Cinder would have been able to unlock a secret room that holds something Ozpin has been guarding inside that school of his."
"Hol' up," Spider-Man raised a glove. "Ozpin had a half-a-dead girl and a super-secret MacGuffin in one place? At a school? I'm sorry, is our opponent some ancient witch named Medusa or something? Or is Ozpin that paranoid about keeping such important things together at a school for kids?"
"You not wrong about most of what you said, Spider-Man. That's why I want to propose a position that I'm sure you won't refuse."
"Offer me what kind of position?" The wall-crawler decided to hear what he had to offer. "Because you had shown me quite a deal-breaker with the welcome party so far."
"I'm sure you'll agree to what I'm about to offer. This secret war Ozpin has with this mysterious adversary has gone on too long. They've been playing the same game for some time now. Far too long. But what you and your friends did at the Vytal festival gave me what we needed to break their game."
"No way," Spider-Man didn't need to hear the rest, as he had read enough comics to realize what was about to happen next. "You want to assemble us to make a team of heroes?"
"Superheroes, to be more precise. I feel it's time we stop looking back and trying to emulate heroes from the past and look forward to the heroes of the future, and that starts with you."
Once again, Spider-Man was reminded of the first time of meeting Whitley. The young Scnhee told Jaune how he chose the same path and donned the suit to become Iron Man.
'Guess Whitley was right that things are changing.'
"Every fairytale you might or might not have heard holds some truth. On the other hand, you have shown that people don't have to follow such old-fashioned means and not just you, but your friends too. A man and woman who can shrink to impossible sizes and grow large enough to topple goliaths. Another has invincible armor and a secret country at his beck and call. Not to mention Iron Man, who seems to have every and all contingencies and quite possibly the most highly sought-after technology are people we make sure to keep tabs on. And believe me when I tell you this. As much as appearances go compared to Ozpin, I'm the most trustworthy."
"If your so trusting," With quick reflexes, Spider-Man shot a web glob at the eye patch man's torso, whose very body ripples into static to reveal that he was a hologram. "Then you would be here in person."
Not even showing a hint of surprise at being found out, the now known fake explained why he could not face Spider-Man face to face.
"As I said before, we make sure to keep tabs on people of interest, and I can't be everywhere at once."
"You mean," Spider-Man didn't finish his sentence when four pillars of light surrounded Spider-Man. At first, SPider-Man wondered why his danger sense didn't pick the threat, yet when the lights took the shape of his friends, Spider-Man realized he was never in danger. "Iron Man!" Wasp!" Ant-Man!? Black Panther!?"
"Can see you had the same reaction as we did, Spider-Man." Wasp and Ant-Man were in their hero uniform in a disclosed area within their home kingdom. "Looks like you also got the hologram."
"It's good too," Spider-Man waved a hand in front of him. "See you guys again. Didn't expect to see ya'll so soon, though."
"Yeah, I actually thought we would see each other if another kingdom-ending event happened. Not by some pirate." Ant-Man rubbed the back of his helmet. "He told you about the offer, yeah? About all of us making a superhero team."
Spider-Man nodded his head. "You two thinking of accepting?"
Both Ant-Man and Wasp looked at each other in a silent debate about answering when Black Panther chose to voice his opinion.
"I'm more concerned about how this man has easily monitored us all." Like the other insect heroes, Black Panther was back in his kingdom. This was a problem, as his kingdom should be impossible for any foreigner to enter, especially someone who had tried to attack him like the others. "While I like to believe that I can trust you all and would have considered an offer of forming such a group. I can not, in good judgment, accept it from a person I just met after the attempt of attacking me, regardless if it was staged. I find trust even more lacking with how he decided to send his fakes to discuss these terms."
"I can answer that, BP."
Just like the rest of the heroes, Iron Man was back at Mantle. Only the difference between them was that the mysterious man in front of him was real.
"The guy is standing right in front of me and isn't going away, to my displeasure."
The two were in a public park where the scene of Iron Man sitting on a park bench across from a stranger made the scene quite weird. Thankfully, whoever this man was seemed to have the people making sure the two were not disturbed by anyone, making the park more silent with no one in sight.
"Out of all of you, I knew that sending a hologram would be the wrong choice."
"You are correct." Iron Man wasn't going to lie. If the man in front of him tried to use something as a hologram, then it would be easy for the genius to hack it, trace where the course was coming from, and find the real one.
That and also make the hologram start break dancing or alter the body to something more weird looking.
"So he's there with you?" Asked Spider-Man.
"Yup, in the flesh." Iron Man locked eyes with the man. "Can you please tell us your name already? The mysterious schtick is getting old, and I would like to call you by name rather than' eye patch man.'"
Seeing as all the heroes are accounted for, the man revealed to them his name.
"My name is Nick Fury, and I am the commanding chief of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division."
"That name isn't going to stick anytime soon," Spider-Man said under his breath. "If what the name implies, you must be part of the government. So does that mean one of the four kingdoms is offering us a job?"
The question Spider-Man asked made the rest of the superheroes have myriad reactions as none of them would like the idea of working under the government.
Ant-Man and Wasp would not like the idea to be controlled by any kingdom, as they would then have to reveal their identity and, in worst-case scenarios, give sensitive information on how their Pym Particles work.
Iron Man had the same mindset, as he too would hate to be ordered by anyone with authority, especially if it was coming from Atlas. For he does not wish to give his home kingdom even more firepower, as he does not wish to cover his hands with blood by handing his tech to people who want to use it to kill.
Tchalla, above all, would immediately terminate any notion of working with another government body, for he was the prince of his kingdom. Most importantly, to a kingdom that somehow knows ways to get into his homeland so quickly.
"A yes and no," Nick Fury answered. "We do follow orders from the government. We do not necessarily take orders from a single kingdom. My organization was made not to protect one kingdom but to protect humanity as a whole from any threats, be it domestic, terrorism, or terrestrial."
"Oh my god," The armored hero shook his head. "We're dealing with a covert ops agency. You guys are like the Men in Black! You couldn't have just said that from the start?"
"Protects humanity from any threat," Spider-Man thought about ick Furry's organization's name for a moment before realizing what it means. "Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division! Put all the first letters in what your group stands for, and it's pronounced S.H.I.E.L.D!"
"We usually say the full name, but yes, S.H.I.E.L.D is a branch that works in the shadows. We are a group created by all four kingdoms' most elite political leaders that allows us to do our job without unnecessary things such as borders between kingdoms."
"For a group supposed to protect humanity, you did a poor job lately."
"As S.H.I.E.L.D, we have to deal with threats that can end humanity, and sadly one kingdom falling isn't considered a threat compared to other threats S.H.I. has to deal with."
"..."
None of the vigilantes responded to Nick's comment about losing a kingdom. They were left speechless at how Nick Fury said such words with a straight face. An entire kingdom would have been lost, and so would millions of lives lost if Spider-Man and his friends didn't stop Cinder.
And yet to tell them that S.H.I.E.L.D had more important matters to handle and not help?
[BAM!]
Everyone, minus Nick Fury, was surprised by Spider-Man punching the floor, leaving a small crater.
"Sorry," He apologized. "I needed to do that, and I didn't want to break the side of a building. Let's all just let his comment slide for a moment and get back on topic. Fury, you want us to help you, so give us a good reason because you're not leaving a good impression on us right now."
"It has been decided from the higher-ups that having you all be part of S.H.I.E.L.D is more beneficial to help end whatever war Ozpin has with this mysterious threat. As much as we like to think we can stop any threat, we are laughably underprepared for the mystical side. Until you all proved to be just enough to handle someone who can wield one of the Maidens."
"And let me guess, the other Maidens are somewhere in the other three kingdoms." Iron Man didn't need to use even 1% of his brain to figure out what came next. "You want us to handle the other Maidens. Like some buster squad of some sort."
"Just like the fairytale goes, four Maidenns represent the four seasons. You all handled the Fall Maiden, yet Spring and Summer have yet to be found. We fear that these two could be in danger, and we wish you all to help us find them, secure them, and prevent their current host from being killed."
"What about the Winter Maiden?"
"She's been on S.H.I.E.L.D's radar for some time, yet currently, we can not acquire her for half of the leaders of S.H.I.E.L.D have decided it is better to leave her where she is. For now."
"How about that other secret thing Ozpin has been hiding? You said there was something important in Beacon Academy. How about the other three, cause of course, if they're our 4 Maidens, then four items go with them."
"You are correct, Iron Man. Each Maiden is connected to a unique item, and just like Beacon, the three other Kingdoms Hunstmen academies harbors each piece."
"For the love of," Iron Man smacked his forehead with an armored hand. "How the heck have they not been taken already?!"
"Your reaction is the same as mine when I first learned about it." Nick had a small smirk, finally showing some kind of emotion. "You can see why we would like for you all to assist us in keeping the Maidens safe. It would be difficult to acquire such items from the other academies, but neither Ozpin nor the other party can use them as long as we can find the other Maidens. When seeing you all be able to handle and overcome such odds, it was a unanimous decision to gather you all to complete such a mission."
"That sounds good and all, but there is one glaring issue. You told us all this, so what's stopping us from not joining your attempt at making a superhero boyband and doing this our way without you and S.H.I.E.L.D breathing down our necks?"
After Iron Man popped the question, no one had answered, for everyone had a similar idea.
Wasp and Ant-Man looked at each other in silent communication as both wondered when one of them would ask that question. The two liked the idea to get them all to team up to find such Maidens, but the size-changing heroes were still apprehensive of accepting.
Black Panther was more inclined to deny Nick Fury's offer still. For he does not wish to be caught in the affairs of other kingdom's problems. Not when he is just getting started trying to bring his kingdom out of isolation and into Remnant.
Things looked to be in an agreement where no superhero seemed to go against Iron Man's idea of just doing things their way.
"I think we should accept."
That one sentence that Spider-Man said broke the silence making the other superheroes look at him as if he had a second head.
"Are you serious, Spider-Man?"
"Why would you consider the idea?"
"Think carefully with the words you use, Spider-Man."
"Guys! Guys!" Iron Man gestured for them all to stop talking. "Spider-Man, can you please tell us why you want to accept? You do know that we would have a better chance if we do this on our own."
"Look, as much as this sounds crazy. I think Fury has some valid points. Remember what you found out when hacking into Ozpin's personal computer? We didn't even know about magic until we saw firsthand how dangerous Cinder was. We made it by sheer will and numbers, but how far can that take us? We had prep time and the element of surprise, which still wasn't enough."
"I want to agree with you, Nick," Spider-Man crossed his arms over his chest. "Yet what can you offer us in return?"
"I already told you about who the real threat is and what they are after-"
"No, you didn't." Spider-Man stopped Nick from talking. "You just gave us a vague explanation of who the big bad is and handed us sketchy details about the other three Maidens. You're holding out more on us, and you're not going to tell us more until you make us agree to accept your terms."
'This group knows us and has watched over us while we went back to our regular routines. I need to give us more time to think about our options.'
"You want us to be a team, then we can be a team, but as a team, we have to agree, and so far, four out of five don't want to play your game, Fury."
"If you don't want to give me a committed answer, I can wait." Knowing that he had stayed longer than anticipated, Nick Fury brought his hand over his left ear, then turned around to have his back face them. "I'll give you all a week to figure things out. I believe you'll make the correct decision till then. And don't worry about the holograms. They'll be gone in three minutes, so use them while you can."
Leaving the vigilantes to their own devices, the heroes looked at Spider-Man.
"Ok, before we begin, can we all agree that it's weird that none of us know how he could catch us all by surprise?"
"Let's put the jokes aside, Iron Man," The prince of Wakanda looked at Spider-Man. "I would like to hear more on why Spider-Man wants to humor that man. Do you think he is trustworthy enough?"
"If I'm being honest. No." The masked hero allowed his true thoughts to be known. "And yet, are any of us trustworthy? Am I trustworthy? Nick Fury is probably the most trustworthy of us since we're the ones wearing masks."
'No, Ant-Man, Wasp, and Iron Man told me their identity.'
"I'm not trusting either. After all, I don't tell you guys who my identity is. I'm sure we don't tell most of our friends and families. Can we even trust each other?"
Spider-Man's hand hovered near the neckline of his mask only to put his hand back down to his waist.
"We can't keep up with how disjointed we all are. We did amazing things when we fought together. We can do it again, only this time we have support on a massive scale."
Before Spider-Man could talk, his spider-sense flared, and with instinct, his body reacted to the threat by cathing it with a single hand.
He caught an arrow and attached a slip of paper to the tip. When he opened the piece of paper, Spider-Man read it, and it held instructions on where to meet Nick Fury.
"Look, let's talk about this tomorrow. Get our heads collected after what happened just now. Iron Man, I'll send you a time and place where we can all talk in a more private location. Does that sound good to you guys?"
"Let me know, and I'll make sure we won't get interrupted or traced."
"I will make time for this meeting. I rather we discuss things in person than through long distance."
"Wasp, and I will also make sure we have time. You can count on it."
"Thank you, guys," It seems it was a good call to end things there as the holograms of each hero started to fade. "See you all soon."
The day after the visit from Nick Fury, Jaune made sure to talk to Whitley about how they would play things out. The blonde wanted everyone to meet at Vale on the city's outskirts. Whitley questioned why when they could just go to an area within the city and use V.I.C to block and detect any eavesdroppers.
Jaune pointed out that Nick Fury had technology that could allow him to be in five different locations, so there could be a possibility that he might have more toys that could interfere with V.I.C or even hurt him.
After some other ideas are thrown into the mix, Spider-Man and Iron Man agree to meet everyone outside the city at sunset near the Emerald forest. Iron Man would be the one to send the message to everyone, and the day after the message was sent, all the heroes were present to talk about Nick and joining S.H.I.E.L.D.
"I like first to say that it's really great to see you guys again. I'm sorry too if you guys were busy."
"You don't have to apologize, Spider-Man. Like you said before, we have to agree if we want to be a team."
"Yeah, I think it was good to have this meeting. Otherwise, I'm not sure if I would have agreed on the spot. Now though, forming a team sounds really good."
"We all have seen how inexperienced we are when facing magic. Only when we all work together will we have a better chance of securing the Maidens and preventing Cinder's master from kidnapping them. Speaking about Cinder, Iron Man, how are you feeling? The experience you felt when you transferred the Maiden energy from Cinder to Yang. Do you still feel it?"
"More or less, BP." Iron Man spoke in a confused voice. "When the energy passed through me, I felt like I wasn't me anymore. I was reliving Cinder's memories. It's hazy, and I only had small glimpses of her life, not the whole thing. However, what's worst is that none of the memories have anything about who Cinder is working for."
"A shame. It would make things easier if we knew."
"I want to point out that I still don't believe in magic, and whatever happened could be an aftereffect of taking the Maiden powers." Iron Man could still remember Cinder's life. Though brief, the young Schnee still has moments when he thought he was Cinder. "From a scientific standpoint, I believe I can compare what I was feeling to be that of a psychological symptom. Or maybe I can compare it to a human mind to a computer."
"A computer?" Scott tilted his head. "Oh! So you're saying that the Maiden power is like a USB drive, right?"
"Pretty much. When I was sifting through the secret files from Ozpin's PC, I discovered that the machine he built had the chance to give the next candidate memories of the previous Maiden, the now-deceased Amber."
"Poor Amber," Whispered Wasp. "I can't even imagine what it's like to be in such a state."
"I'm sure she is in a better place, Wasp." A small chuckle escaped through Black Panther's lips. "Amber must also be smiling down on us with how sorry a state Cinder is."
"Getting back on topic. When delving deeper into Ozpin's private files, I learned that the Maidens pass down to young women and only to young women who the current Maiden last remembered. That's why he wanted to make that machine, as Amber would likely remember Cinder."
"He never even thought of trying to save Amber?" Anger bled into Spider-Man's words, and they could understand the same sentiment. "He just decided to have someone else handle the responsibility?"
'Now that I think about it. Qrow wanted me to see Ozpin. Maybe I should try my hand to visit him. Alone.'
"Hey, we all have a right to be mad." Iron Man raised a finger. "I'm even madder that General Ironwood funneled money to help Ozpin make the dang thing. You know, maybe it's 'cause the long flight from Atlas to Vale made me a bit sleep deprived. But I think knowing more about Nick Fury's offer holds some merit. And since we're all here, I was going to ask you guys if being a team would be a better option before Nick decided to drop by unannounced."
"Wait, so we actually will do the hero team-up thing. Officially?" Asked Ant-Man, who sounded excited about the idea. "I was skeptical about going for it, yet I'm on board if we all agree. Heck, we can handle this on our own. We don't need S.H.I.E.L.D's help."
"Now hold up, Ant-Man. Let's not go too far off on this. Joining up does sound logical, as we would have the backing of all four kingdoms. Regardless if they won't openly acknowledge us as 'helpful.'"
"Wasp brings a fair point as much as we can handle whatever trouble can be thrown at us. Getting extra help does have its benefits. I want to throw the offer. Only, having more help isn't wrong." Leaning against a tree, Spider-Man felt a small spider land on his shoulder. The spider stared at the Faunus hybrid before scurrying away into the darkness. "You know, I thought we could do our regular routine for just a little longer. Do our usual rounds of stopping crime or helping people with some common problems. What Nick Fury says is sadly true, we all entered into some secret war, and we could be the only group that can stop it."
'It all boils down to if we trust the offer Fury is giving us.' Spider-Man inwardly sighed. 'No use talking in circles. It's time to make an answer.'
"Then I have no other objection. I agree to accept S.H.I.E.L.D's offer." Spider-Man's head snapped to Black Panther. "Frankly, I still do not trust the man. However, I trust you all, for we have shed blood, sweat, and tears together."
"I'm on board!" Ant-Man said, smiling behind his helmet. "No way am I passing this up."
"Same for me," Wasp bumped her shoulder to Ant-man's shoulder. "I need to make sure this guy stays out of trouble."
"You guys," Warmth spread inside Spider-Man's chest as the superheroes who helped save his city were once again assembling to stop a massive threat. "If you all agree, then let's-"
"Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!" Iron Man interrupted Spider-Man. "Let's not forget people. A team needs a cool team name! So if we are going to be legit, we need a cool name. So, any name come to mind?"
"If we want a name," Spider-Man put a gloved hand under his chin. "We should have a name that represents not just the people, but for the people who passed too. A name that represents us taking revenge against evil."
"You guys!" Wasp shouted in excitement from a name that best fits them. "I know who we can be!"
All the male heroes looked at Wasp, and a slight pause came to pass before she spoke a name that would be remembered forever.
"We can be Avengers!"
Keeping his word, Nick Fury, the real Nick Fury, was in the same spot where he met Spider-Man. The shattered moon shined down on the city, where a small stream of moonlight illuminated his figure before passing Fury over to reveal another person stacking to the wall behind him.
"You made your decision?" Nick Fury was only able to know Spider-Man was behind him thanks to one of his veteran agents spotting him from four buildings away.
"That depends," Spider-Man removed himself from the brick wall and landed without making a noise. "Is the one I'm talking to real or just some decoy?"
"All real," Nick Fury raised both arms. "It would be rude to talk to someone who had thoughts of joining."
He had a hand in good faith, though it did help that he posted his usual decoys to the other kingdoms awaiting the other superheroes. He indeed kept his word to wait a week, and wait Nick Fury did by observing them from afar.
"Have you finally chosen an answer, Spider-Man?" The director of S.H.I.E.L.D was hoping to have more hop on the idea, but it was not a total waste of taxpayer money if one would join. The master spy had his doubts that the others would join. Even when they all teamed up to stop the threat, Nick Fury can still see their synergy was not all there, to begin with, so having a unified group right off the bat was small.
"Yeah," Spider-Man crossed his arms over his chest. "We have."
Without warning, one of his operatives in Atlas's kingdom sent an urgent message to Nick Fury's hidden earpiece.
"Sir, Iron Man suddenly vanished! No traces of him have been spotted!"
Keeping his composure, Nick Fury ignored the message and stared at Spider-Man, who he swears could imagine the vigilante was smiling under his mask.
Again, another message from one of his operatives informed him that Wasp and Ant-Man also vanished!
"I'll be honest. We were all a bit apprehensive of joining because we were all separated."
And not even a second later, the operative they had spent years integrating as a trader to Wakanda's kingdom reported Black Panther missing.
"Now though-"
"OI!OI!OI~!"
Nick Fury yelled in surprise as the earpiece blared loud rock music, causing the man to take the device out of his ear.
"T.N.T~! I'M DYNAMITE~!"
Ant-Man and Wasp, both of who were tiny enough to hide in Nick Fury's pocket, jumped out and grew to their normal size.
"T.N.T~ AND I"LL WIN THE FIGHT~!"
Nick Fury attempted to regain his composure when a broken bow was tossed in front of his legs. Looking up, the director sees Black Panther step out of the shadows.
"T.N.T! I'M A POWER LOAD~!"
Last was Iron Man dropping out of the sky and landing next to Spider-Man. "You didn't think making suits of armor was my only trick, right?"
His one eye scanned his entire surroundings before seeing Spider-Man in the center of the group of superheroes.
"-The Avengers have assembled. And we would like to renegotiate your offer."
"T.N.T~! WATCH ME EXPLODE~!"
I apologize to those who think this chapter was short. It appears that being away from writing made me complacent. I like to factor college and work, but regardless, the chapter for this month is out, and things will be going a bit on the Marvel side until getting on track with some RWBY plot point events.
Nick Fury comes in and drops a lot of things to the group while also keeping some hidden. The reason why is only until they accept his offer will he tell them more about who Ozpin is and who he has been fighting for centuries. I wanted this chapter to be on some exposition for the characters and how they will enter this new world. That also includes how they all feel like a team too. After all, with how they stopped Vale from falling, it would be the start of something grand and grand it is as they have now given themselves the title of 'The Avengers.'
On a different note, I saw the anime trailer for RWBY, and I got to say it piqued my interest. I can't wait to watch it and also if they decide to make an English dub for it. This also makes me feel like it would be an excellent gateway to try and go to the multiverse side, but that would be for later.
If you have any questions that you wish to be answered, please PM me, and also don't forget to Fav and follow!

AVENGERS TRYOUTS!
The Avengers assemble... to see the new superheroes who desire to join the team.
S.H.I. has agreed to accept the heroes yet has expressed that such a team should expand.
Spider-Man and his friends do not wish to accept too many heroes and agree that they will first inspect what candidates S.H.I.E.L.D has seen as Avenger-worthy candidates.
The place they chose for such an inspection is on an unassuming office floor. It was a spacious floor with the only thinking in it six chairs and a long table with five being for Ant-Man, Wasp, Black Panther, Iron Man, and Spider-Man.
The sixth seat was used for the possible candidate, and the first one to sit in the chair was Deadpool.
"No." Wasp said nothing else.
"Nope." Ant-Man was the second to decline Deadpool. He then leaned over to whisper to Wasp. "Why does he have guns? I thought they were supposed to be confiscated before entering."
"Ain't gonna happen." Black Panther never met Deadpool, and yet he can already tell this man would be a hindrance than actually helpful.
"How did you get on S.H.I.E.L.D's list? Actually, how did you even get past S.H.I.E.L.D security?" Iron Man reached under to press the button to call for security and continued to press the button as Deadpool attempted to list off why he should join.
"Oh, come on! Look at me!" The merc stood up, twirled around, and then struck a pose. "How could any of you deny all this!? I'm comedic, quick wit, and I can promise you that I can boost this franchise even higher within three years! Not to mention I'll be a hit with the younger fans! Kids love adults who wear red leather."
"I don't think I see you anywhere near kids, especially if it's near a school." Ant-Man frowned underneath his helmet. "We don't want to give the public any bad thoughts of us accepting gun-toting maniacs."
"If it's guns, I can get rid of them," Deadpool removed his guns. "You have got to at least let me keep my katanas! There the main staple of my image. Besides being unkillable." Deadpool's eyes widened. "I also have a healing factor! Want me to prove it?"
He pulled out his sword and was about to stab him when the Avengers yelled, "NO!" to not leave the floor in crimson and have the janitor clean it up.
"This just proves you are unhinged if wanting to watch you getting stabbed will make us want to let you join."
"The Avengers are a team who will be watched globally by every kingdom and must put out an image of safety and heroism. I believe it best that we do not allow you to join, for you will be too reckless and send a bad image that the Avengers are willing to let anyone join."
"Let's just put it to a vote." Iron Man gave up on the button and leaned against his chair. "All those against Deadpool joining?"
Ant-Man, Wasp, Black Panther, and Iron Man raised their hands.
"And those who actually want him to join?"
Spider-Man hesitantly raised his hand before putting it down when his friends glared at him.
"Sorry," Even if Spider-Man owes Deadpool from last time, he couldn't disagree with his friends pointing out some issues of Deadpool. "Maybe next time."
"No next time for Deadpool." Iron Man decided he would gladly kick Deadpool out the door if the guards were not showing. Before he could, S.H.I.E.L.D sent an alarm that a threat was detected near the area. "We got to move! Avengers! Assemble!"
Every superhero was leaving the room, and the last to leave was Deadpool.
He was then pushed back inside the room by an armored gauntlet.
"Not you. You'll wait here until security arrives." Said Iron Man before slamming the door.
Silence enveloped the room as Deadpool waited for the guards to show up.
"Meh," The regenerative man shrugged his shoulders. "Might as well sit in a comfy chair and wait."
Taking a seat in the center chair where Iron Man once sat, Deadpool saw the door open, and there entered a nervous Ruby Rose.
"H-hello," She winced at how squeaky her voice sounded. "I'm here for the tryouts. Am I too late?"
"Ugh," Deadpool tapped a finger on the table and looked down when he noticed a large folder that held some names and backgrounds of people that S.H.I.E.L.D thought would be a welcome addition to the Avengers. "No! Not at all! You are the first to enter! As a member of the Avengers, allow me to welcome you to the tryouts!"
