The Skywalker-Jinn children got to settling themselves in at the Temple.
Lamenta was reading her Peter Pan book to the baby twins while Omega and Estrella went on a safari across the Temple, Boba and Remix were searching through holo-vids and movies for something good to watch, and Gabby went searching for any treats to sneak across the Temple. She knew for a fact that some of the masters kept secret stashes of candy they kept for themselves.
"Master Mundi claims he doesn't know what happened to all the gummy bears," said Gabby, sneaking around with Carousella standing guard. "But I know he's hogging them for himself. Aha!"
She found a whole box with packs of gummy bears under Ki-Adi's bed.
"I knew he's been sneaking gummy bears from the cupboard and my Halloween candy the last two years! Of all people, you'd expect a Jedi master to be more generous with candy." Gabby said, taking only a few bags, hoping it wouldn't be enough for her uncle to notice some were missing.
The twin Jedi princes and their father gathered with the Council as they agreed to keep watch over the younglings today. They split up by age groups.
So far, all they knew about the children who went missing so far was that they had gone to bed just before they vanished, and so far, the oldest children who'd disappeared were sixteen-year-olds.
"Have we taken every precaution to make sure the kids will be safe?" asked Master Mundi.
"Carmine, Dad, and I cast a protection spell over the Temple." Anakin said. "No dark creature is getting in here. And they definitely won't be getting my kids."
"We also closed the portal to the Encanto temporarily." said Carmine. "We wouldn't wanna risk a repeat of Rosella's kidnapping, much less even more kids of her world."
However, that was when Sapphire burst in.
"Your Majesties!" Sapphire exclaimed, panting.
"Sapphire, what's wrong?" Anakin said, calming his horse.
"Queen Reigna just contacted Carousella." Sapphire said. "She says all three of her daughters have gone missing. So have many young horses in Equinaro. The same thing's happened in Elementara, Vulgardia, Maamoh-Ya, and many other kingdoms across the Enchantra system."
That didn't sound good.
The kids had their sleeping bags set up or sat on puffy clouds Gabby and Lamenta conjured in big rooms across the Temple.
"Why can't we sleep in our beds tonight?" Boba asked, setting up his sleeping bag.
"The threats gotten worse, children." Mace said. "Therefore, we're all going to keep watch of all of you tonight."
"If who or whatever was after those other kids goes after them while they sleep," said Aayla, we must find out how it works precisely."
"Or... maybe they don't attack when adults are watching." Anakin said.
Gabby got her teddy bear comfy on a soft cloud she was using as a bed.
"This is like a big sleepover." Gabby said. "We could stay up all night."
"No, no," said Qui-Gon. "That's the grownups' job tonight."
"Then what can we do?"
"Get to bed on time and behave yourselves."
"But if the attackers only come when we're sleeping," said Lamenta. "Wouldn't staying awake be a good idea?"
"Nice try, kids." Padme said as she and Caroline were rocking the babies to sleep. "You all need to be rested."
The kids seemed reluctant to do go to bed, just as they were getting ready to have a fun indoor Halloween time.
"Isn't it bad enough that we may have to miss trick or treating this year?" whined Lamenta, still in her costume. The kids had so much fun playing pretend all day, they didn't want to take off their Halloween costumes until after tomorrow.
Halloween was tomorrow, and now it looked like they weren't going to be able to do much this year.
The kids reluctantly got to bed and went to sleep while the grownups began to take shifts. Some of them would sleep for a few hours while the others stayed awake and watched over the kids. Crescent, Sapphire, Peppermint, and Harmony were some of those who would help.
A few hours went by. Nothing happened so far.
Anakin and Qui-Gon were on the current shift with Ahsoka, Fiesta, Crescent, and Peppermint while the others were all sleeping.
Qui-Gon looked at the clock. Midnight.
"It's quiet." said Qui-Gon. "Too quiet."
"That's not necessarily a good thing." Anakin said.
And he was right, as something did happen a few minutes later.
Somewhere, outside in the night, a voice began to sing.
Come little children
I'll take thee away
Into a land of enchantment
Come little children
The time's come to play
Here in my garden of magic
Across the city, children of all ages were currently asleep in their beds, dreaming sweet dreams.
Follow sweet children
I'll show thee the way
Through all the pain
And the sorrows
Weep not poor children
For life is this way
Murdering beauty and passions
Hush now dear children
It must be this way
Too weary of life
And deceptions
Rest now my children
For soon we'll away
Into the calm and the quiet
Oooooh...
In the Temple, the grownups suddenly heard the singing.
"Carmine, Obi-Wan. wake up!" Anakin said, shaking his twin and master awake.
At that moment, that was when the Skywalker-Jinn kids all woke up, Carousella too. But all of them had an odd look on their faces, and their eyes all turned green like they were under a trance.
All the kids suddenly got out of bed and started walking out of the room.
"Kids!" the grownups exclaimed.
The same thing was happening in all the rooms where the younglings were, and across town too.
The grownups tried to break the kids out of the trance in any way they could. They tried shouting for them to snap out of it, they tried clapping or snapping in front of their faces, even spraying water in their faces. Nothing worked.
Anakin even tried grabbing the twins and Gabby and holding onto them. But Omega used a heat spell and made Anakin let go, while Gabby trapped him in vines.
Carmine tried holding onto Lamenta, but she escaped too. Every time the adults tried to stop the kids, they only fought back and even managed to make it past the protection spell thanks to Carousella and the Skywalker-Jinn kids using magic to penetrate it, and they walked out of the Temple and into the streets, where a bunch of other kids were walking, following the voice, and they all seemed to go through a portal of some kind.
The grownups tried to stop any kids they could, but none of them would stop.
Anakin grabbed Lamenta just before she could go through the portal and held her tightly, but he wasn't fast enough to stop any of the others before the portal closed.
"No!" Anakin exclaimed as his kids disappeared.
Parents all across town quickly found that their kids were gone, and they had no idea where they went.
Lamenta quickly shook her head.
"Huh? What happened?" said Lamenta. "Why am I outside?"
"Lamenta. Are you okay?" said Anakin.
"I'm alright, Uncle Anakin. What happened?"
"Did anyone see who was singing?" Anakin asked everyone else.
Unfortunately, no one saw who had been singing before.
The Jedi got Lamenta back to the Temple and asked her if she remembered anything before she'd gotten hypnotized.
Lamenta thought hard and said she didn't remember anything except going to sleep and dreaming she was following a very beautiful woman with an angelic voice promising to take her and all the other kids to a garden full of dreams come true.
However, that was also when everyone heard someone snoring. And they saw Remix asleep with his headphones on.
"Remix?" Anakin said. He gently shook the musicorn by the shoulder.
Remix stirred.
"He must be dreaming about deejaying." Carmine said. He pulled the headphones off Remix. "REMIX!"
Remix woke up.
"I'm up! I'm up!" he said frantically. Then he yawned. "Is it time for breakfast already?"
The others wondered how this happened. Remix was sixteen, but the spell didn't affect him somehow.
"It might be because he was wearing his headphones," said Carmine. "One of the ways one can avoid the effects of siren songs is not hearing it. And there are three ways to do that: being deaf, being too far away to hear it, or having something covering your ears, like headphones filled with... sitar music?"
Remix's cheeks turned red.
"It helps me relax, okay?" said Remix. "Even I can't listen to hip hop and pop all the time."
"Well... there's gotta be a way we can track the kids." said Anakin. "Like a spell or something."
"I believe there might be something." Qui-Gon said, taking out his cell phone.
"Is this really the time to text?" Anakin asked.
"I'm not texting." Qui-Gon said. "After that incident on Pantora with the bounty hunter and Omega, I had Tech and Milagro work on something that would help ensure the children's safety."
Qui-Gon showed the others an app called Lost & Found. According to Qui-Gon, it was designed to be linked to special microchips that could be embedded into jewelry, hairclips, or any other accessory. And to test them, he had them placed into the kids' japor snippets, and one in Lamenta's necklace.
"If our children have gone to the same place all the others have gone, we will find them." Qui-Gon said.
"Are we sure it'll work?" Carmine said. "What if the app isn't accurate?"
Then Lamenta remembered something.
"The S.G.T!" Lamenta said. "Mila helped us build on last time she was here. If we put a DNA sample from one of my cousins into it, it'll help us get a second opinion."
"Where are we supposed to get that?" Remix asked.
Lamenta picked up some hairbrushes that had hairs in them.
"Let's find my cousins." Lamenta said.
Some hairs from Gabby and the twins' hairbrushes were placed into the machine, and sure enough, it showed that they were all in the same place, just like the app said.
The kids were all in some place called Shadow Dream Hollow.
"Uh oh." said Crescent.
"Why the 'uh oh'?" Caroline said. "Are the children in danger?"
"Big time. Shadow Dream Hollow was the old feeding grounds for Cordelia Cantibar. A very dangerous sorceress thought long gone after she was captured and sentenced to life in prison fifty years ago."
"What was she arrested for exactly?" Padme asked.
"Well..."
