Disclaimer: This has SPOILERS for the comics story 'Three Jokers.' This also has nothing to do with the other story, Joker Divergence. Thanks for reading!
Reaction: Three Jokers.
"So... there's been THREE Jokers?" Comissioner Gordon asked.
"Yes," Batman replied.
"A short one, a thin one, and a taller one," Gordon clarified.
"Well, yes," Batman conceded.
"... and they don't really look alike," Gordon added.
"... yes," Batman admitted.
"AND YOU COULDN'T TELL THEM APART?!" Gordon yelled.
Batman hung his head.
"World's greatest detective, MY ASS," Gordon huffed.
Batman defended himself, "It's not like the police spotted it either."
Gordon gave him a look, "Not helping your case. We were relying on YOU, remember."
Batman sighed.
Gordon looked like he had a headache, "And how long has this been going on?"
Batman looked pained, "Several years, at least. The Gangster created the Comedian, then the third one appeared..."
"But the other two are dead, right?" Gordon confirmed.
"Yes," Batman agreed.
"Then we will NEVER BRING THIS UP AGAIN."
"I...," Batman started.
"NEVER," Gordon walked away. He muttered under his breath, "Hopefully this gets retconned in the next Crisis or something..."
End?
Notes: YES, comics writer Geoff Johns decided it would be a good idea to retcon in THREE versions of the Joker. Apparently he thought they needed to explain the wildly different takes on the character over the years. And SOMEHOW there had been three of them for years, and no one ever noticed.
