A favorite school subject of Ami Mizuno had been mathematics. Ami enjoyed all different kinds of mathematics such as arithmetic (basic order of operations in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, counting, and decimals,) algebra, calculus, different word problems, fractions, geometry, statistics, and trigonometry. Brilliance and common sense came to be needed in order to excel at math. It did challenge her mind. However, the other girls—especially Minako and Usagi—could not understand why she enjoyed it.
"How can you like math, Ami-chan?" Usagi would ask as the girls did their homework and ended up studying at Rei's temple. " I do not like it at all! It is so hard!"
"I like it," Ami would answer, "because it is something that I am good at. Makoto-chan comes to enjoy arts and crafts, baking, basketball, cleaning, cooking, dancing especially ballet, flower arranging, gardening, ice skating, and martial arts because she is good at it so she could teach home economics herself and Rei-chan comes to enjoy archery, beadwork, calligraphy, drawing, guitar playing, piano playing, skiing, and song writing because she is good at it so she could teach any of the things she wants to others. Minako-chan, you do excel at acting, dancing, and singing, coming to be fluent in English, drawing, and volleyball so you could teach English and physical education if you want to do so, and, Usagi-chan, you can excel at anything you want to do so long as you apply yourself at it. One can do anything if one has the patience to learn how to do so."
"Ami-chan has a good point, " Makoto would burst in. "If you apply yourself, Usagi-chan, then you can do anything you want to do."
"Yeah," Rei would comment. "If you apply yourself, Odango Atama, you can get good grades, if you only complete your homework and do study for your exams."
"But I hate doing homework and ending up studying for exams!" Usagi would whine.
All of the girls would sweat drop at this.
There was no school subject that Ami did not like.
