Rolling over the next morning Dylan smiled when he saw Kate lying on her side in his shirt her eyes closed as soft breathes released through her delicate lips, reaching a hand across he pushed a piece of hair behind her ear.
Her eyes fluttering open at his touch, pushing her face further into the pillow with embarrassment she smiled nervously
"Hi" he grinned
"Your still here"
"Where else would I be?"
"I'm glad you stayed" she shifted to face him, leaning down he brushed his nose across hers before teasing her lips into a slow kiss
"I should go take a shower" he whispered against her lips
"I'll make some coffee"
"Or.."
"Or?" she raised an eyebrow
"You could join me, save water by showering together"
"You're incorrigible"
"Is that a yes?"
"It's a I'll get the coffee ready"
"Okay" he laughed kissing her one last time he exited the bed walking over to the bathroom his bare arse on display, Kate's cheeks turning a bright red as she moved out the bed herself.
Moving around the kitchen in a pair of shorts and Dylan's t-shirt Kate grabbed the milk from the fridge just as her front door opened and closed
"What are you doing here?" she placed the milk on the bench looking at Mike in confusion
"I just wanted to check in your disappeared early last night"
"Oh I.." she paused when the shower turned off
"You have company?"
"Answer the question Mike, why are you here?" she ignored his question
"Like I said you disappeared last night and I was hoping to talk"
"Talk?"
"It's kinda important.."
"That coffee ready baby" Dylan entered in his pants and shoes from the night before his chest glistening shirtless
"Ah.."
"Dylan" Mike nodded at him
"Mike, this is a surprise.."
"Yes well I was hoping I could talk with Kate.. privately.."
"I gotta head out anyway, got training at nine"
"Right.."
"I'll see you later?" he looked at Kate while taking his jacket off the back of the chair
"Sure" she nodded awkwardly
"Mike" he cleared his throat, placing a quick kiss on Kate's cheek before exiting her apartment.
"I thought it wasn't serious" Mike said through the silence
"Mike.." she sighed
"So he's the reason you cut out early? You left too.."
"This really isn't any of your business"
"We share a kid together; it is my business about who you bring home around him"
"Right but it's okay for you to do it?" she shook her head turning her back to him
"I didn't come here to fight" he sighed pulling out a chair and sitting down at the kitchen table
"Then why did you come here"
"Serena's Pregnant.." Dropping her mug in the sink Kate jumped back in surprise when it smashed "Kate?"
"What.."
"Did you hear me?"
"Mm-hmm" she turned to face him "what do you want me to say Mike? Congrats on knocking up your assistant"
"I didn't want this Kate"
"You're the one who cheated Mike, you're the only one who put yourself in this position"
"You don't understand"
"You should go, I got to go pick Theo up"
"Kate"
"Leave" she arose from her chair moving past him towards the bedroom.
Walking through the front door of Mike's Mothers house and hour later Kate smiled when she spotted Theo sitting on the floor colouring in his colouring book
"Hey Munchkin where's your Nan?"
"Hi Mummy, she's in there" he pointed to the kitchen, placing her handbag near the doorframe she entered the kitchen
"Hi Mumma Flynn" she smiled
"Hi Katie"
"How'd he go?" she stopped in the seat next to her
"He was an angel, as always"
"Thanks again for taking him"
"You know I love seeing my Grandson" she reached a hand across placing it on her's "how are you holding up?"
"I'm doing fine"
"Kate.."
"Honestly I'm.." she sighed slouching forward "how am I supposed to feel, he's having another kid and just married the woman he cheated on me with"
"I always thought you were too good for my son"
"What?"
"Don't get me wrong he's my son and I love him but what he did to you it's unforgivable, you deserve someone who will love you and will always stick by your side not wreak things the minute it gets hard"
"Thank you" Kate forced a smile
"You'll always have a place in this family Kate regardless of Mike fucking it up" patting her hand she arose from her chair
"Did you just swear?" Kate laughed
"Yes, I may be old but I still cuss I just don't say it in front of the little man"
"Say what?" Theo stopped next to his Mums chair
"Nothing, why don't you go pack up your stuff for me" she ran a hand across his hair
"But I don't wanna go"
"Theo"
"Please can't I stay another night?"
"Nana has to work tomorrow bud; we have to go home"
"Okay.." he sighed running out of the room
"I'm happy to have him another night its no drama"
"Thank you but I just really need him to be with me right now" Kate arose from her chair
"Okay but if you change your mind the offer still stands"
"Your too good to me"
"I love you like your my own daughter"
"I love you too"
"Don't let Mike's drama dictate your life, the only reason he married the wench is because she got Pregnant"
"What?" her eyes widened
"Ah.." Mumma Flynn cleared her throat
"Is it true?"
"You need to ask Mike.."
"Please, just tell me.." turning to face her she took a deep breath grabbing her arm
"From what Mike has said they never had sex without protection"
"Even then it's not.."
"Maybe not but she sabotaged the condoms got Pregnant and then blackmailed him"
"And you believe this story?"
"I don't know, but I saw the control she had on him at the wedding he wasn't even allowed to piss without her permission" Mumma Flynn shrugged
"You really think that's what's happening here?" Kate raised an eyebrow
"Like I said you need to ask Mike"
"Yeah.."
"Ready Mummy" Theo stopped in the kitchen with his bag over his shoulder.
