If there are anything that caught the Alliance's attention, expect GUF to be aware about it, no matter how insignificant it is.
Originally, Historia Gensokyo was a sealed realm, but thanks to Trans-Dimensional Warfare/World War 3 (started in 2010), the Second Influx (same year), Urban Legend Incident (2015), and Lunarian Invasion (same year), the locals realized that they can no longer be passive about this and decided to help Earth forces in their World War since the invasion, marking the Second Bakumatsu Period (after the first one by Japan in 19th century).
At the same time, many Outsiders in Gensokyo decided to search for other realms, and they are led by Vaati Star, one of the earliest Outsiders. Yukari relents after Kaguya points out the imminence of the first contact between Earth and Gensokyo, not to mention the Second Influx basically shows that there are others that can breach the Great Hakurei Barrier. By the time Historia Alliance formed, Gensokyo Union Fighters' battle power has surpassed those of the other founders, with only UN Military to rival them in military strength.
Both Liberal Clones Rebellion and Final Armageddon Warfare are internal Great Wars that ended without lethal measures. Regardless, due to their experience in World War 3, they knew that lethal wars can happen anytime. If it wasn't for Yukari goofing around and creating Sengoku Gensokyo tournaments, who knows what will happen, since the first one resulted in unexpected Makai Invasion, in which Gensokyo Army led by Reimu managed to repel it. It's not until Scarlet Spring Snow War that it became a true war with confirmed casualties.
Aside from Sengoku Gensokyo Tournaments (which helps maintaining their preparedness), Historia Gensokyo also adopted soccer tournaments after learning it from an outsider, who turned out to be none other than the Kannushi himself (any Touhou fan will recognize this title). True to it, it became a craze among major local factions that see this as another form of competition besides Spell Card duels and the above-mentioned Sengoku tournaments. Not only that, starting from 2010 onward, Gensokyo created their own version of biathlon that will be held every two years. And that's not mentioning Spell Bubble tournaments, which is basically Gensokyo's version of music battle.
These four tournaments are currently managed by GUF after their formation in 2032, seeing it as beneficial due to the necessity of maintaining competitive spirit, high readiness condition and calm mind. This high competition level is the reason why GUF also has many named Elite Fighters in their ranks.
Factions in Gensokyo Union Fighters
GUF currently has seven factions and three support elements in it.
Following the aftermath of Liberal Clones Rebellion in 2032, Guardians are introduced as the highest authority in the Union, and their numbers are proportional to the amount of recognized factions. By 2060, all seven factions has their respective Guardians. The reason for this is because GUF isn't a governmental organization, but rather, as the name implies, the Union of factions comprised of Elite Fighters. In 2040, other assets from each factions are included as well since the formation of Historia Alliance.
The support elements were added by the end of Final Armageddon Warfare in 2035, with the Sages being the first one since they already present before the formation of the Union, following by the Support Team on the same year after Yayoi Kochiya's transfer to Gensokyo, and Joint Divisions initiated by Vaati Star since the Alliance Formation.

Following the formation of Historia Alliance, GUF decided to consolidate their total combined manpower in order to better manage it in wake of their entrance into the Multiverse. Thanks to Sengoku Gensokyo, the consolidation progress accelerated greatly. Thus, the Joint Divisions are born with Vaati Star as the High General.
Various races have consolidated their manpower into the Joint Divisions. This gives the Union massive options of troop deployments in case of military engagements. The following list will describe the races that have involvements in Joint Divisions.
Human - Gensokyo humans are slightly more powerful than average youkais due to their focus on increasing their supernatural power. Regardless, the youkai population greatly outnumber those of the humans. In order to secure their settlements, Human Village accepted the invitation to join the First Sengoku Gensokyo and promptly created the Guards consisting of various individuals with notable talents.
They are armed with wide array of weapons and armors spanning from various places and eras since 2014, at the same year as the initiation of Project Ocean Maidens by Japan at Outside World. These weapons are acquired after Hiroshi Kato, then one of the notable Guards, disappeared for few months and came back with many blueprints that made up the current Guards' armories. This allows him to be promoted to be the Guards' Leader. Three years later, with the help from the Outsiders, Hiroshi began searching for more blueprints to reinforce the Guards further, seeing the effect of Trans-Dimensional Warfare on Earth.
Later in 2020, Yasei told Hiroshi that he actually met Chiyou, a legendary Chinese God of War. The Outsiders' Leader told the Guards' Leader that she actually able to produce many weapons in one go, much to Hiroshi's confusion. Yasei then said that she actually managed to appraise and upgrade Youmu's Roukanken and Hakurouken alongside one of Masakado's servants that awakened in Underworld seven years prior. Not only that, she also managed to create new weapons for Marisa, despite never hearing about energy weapons before! Now that earned Hiroshi's interest, and he agreed with Yasei's proposal to include Chiyou in their search for blueprints.
The search for blueprints ended in 2022, and the Guards now managed to list the recommended equipment sets for the new arsenals. Not only that, it now superseded the majority of the old arsenals in general use minus unique weapons like Plasma Rifles and Blaster Tonfas. Only those who managed to earn a Level (Guards with notable talents) that currently uses the old arsenals in addition of the equipment sets.
Many youkai factions compete to gain influence on the human settlement. But its ultimately the Outsiders who won the power struggle due to the fact that a sizable portion of the residents came from outside Gensokyo. It's mainly because of the effort of prominent Outsiders that aligned themselves to the settlement. Chief among them is none other than Yasei himself, and he even rallied the village force under alias 'Nomare Shubu' to help the Resolvers during Chaos Stratum Incident and Second Makai Invasion during late 2011.
It's not only Yasei, though. Lucy Thesda and Vaati Star also showed similar sentiments. The three of them re-affirm their stance in 2019 once it's confirmed that Yasei is no longer human, and they became the shields that prevent any youkai factions from taking control of the human settlement, like the kappas, kitsunes, rabbits, tanukis, and especially tengus. Being former humans certainly helps in this regard. Because of this, they're now known as the most prominent Outsiders in Gensokyo. Their current position certainly reflects it. Yasei is GUF Zen Captain, Lucy is the Outsiders' Vice Leader, and Vaati currently leads GUF Joint Divisions as the High General.
Back then, only few in Gensokyo aware that Hiroshi Kato was an Outsider who decided to go native, and he later joins Advent Outsiders United due to his origin, making this a public knowledge. He's not alone in this regard, since Hotaru Mizutani also shares the same circumstances. She would later became Leader of Hieda Security Corps and Akyuu's personal assistant due to her table manipulation skills and her interest in compiling Gensokyo Chronicles for Outsiders like herself. Like Hiroshi, Hotaru also joins Advent Outsiders United later. They are among those who answered the rally during Chaos Stratum Incident and Second Makai Invasion.

Doll - Compared to their Outside World counterparts that are normally inanimate, Gensokyo dolls are significantly more mobile. These dolls are the main strength of Alice Margatroid, one of Gensokyo Magus Trio. Her wish for a fully autonomous doll is granted when she found Maybell. Once she heard that Marisa joined the First Sengoku Gensokyo under Reimu's banner, she decided to test her dolls and alongside Maybell, they joined as well.
Alice already created a batch of doll classes when she joined the First Sengoku Gensokyo, and said doll classes already have combat experience, with the most notable being Shanghai-class and Hourai-class, since both class have exactly one doll with higher degree of autonomy compared to the others. When Alice faced Medicine under Reimu's banner, the latter is initially very hostile towards her, but later softened upon seeing Maybell. Coupled with Eiki's lecture from the last year, Medicine eventually agreed to help Alice finding a way to make her dolls became more autonomous like that of what would later be known as Shanghai Alpha and Hourai Alpha.
Alice actually became the hero of Gensokyo due to being the only one capable of calming her Makai counterpart after the Resolvers faced the latter during the last phase of First Makai Invasion. All of Gensokyo saw that the Grimoire gradually de-powers itself when Alice approaches it, until it eventually closed as Alice touched it. Shinki decided to gave Alice said grimoire because of this. It's thanks to this grimoire that she managed to gave her dolls a degree of autonomy comparable to Outside World's unmanned vehicles. Not only that, it allows her to develop two new doll classes three years later, Titania-class and Goliath-class, after hearing about Marisa's 'Boss' Golems.
The reason why all of the doll classes made by Alice now have Alphas as leaders is because she lost a huge number of Shanghai-class dolls during the 2008 battle with an Automaton from Moon, Arioch. Maybell eventually able to beat the automaton by awakening her power and boost Marisa's Master Spark power to that of Final Spark's. Arioch would later be claimed by Yasei 14 years later after the latter beat her in combat alongside Shion Yorigami.
A true strategist through and through, Alice took advantage of Earth-Gensokyo reunification by learning military planning, further strengthen her capabilities in combat and military engagements. It's noted by many Outsiders that the current structure of her doll army follows that of Roman legion, with Alphas as Legates for their respective doll classes. Medicine has her own special doll legion specialized in bio-chemical warfare. Sometimes, Yasei lent Arioch to Alice alongside many drones that he created.

Golem - What makes these kind of golems unique compared to Outside World's interpretation is the fact that they can took form of any notable characters and inherit the abilities after being infused with the hair of said characters. These golems are created Patchouli Knowledge in response of Marisa's frequent raids on her books. Unfortunately, the aforementioned black-white magician managed to stole her golem manufacturing process.
Shortly before the First Sengoku Gensokyo, Patchouli already tried to stop the raid that started ever since 2002. Stashing her book collection deep inside a mechanized fortress filled with traps, she enlists the help of several other characters, all of whom have their own bones to pick with Marisa for one reason or another. With the help of Alice, Marisa sets out to defeat the other girls and gain new powers from them before making a climactic raid on Patchouli's castle to bring home another big haul of books. Marisa since then abandoned the method, but the legacy remains, since Mega Mari would later appear in 2022 as one of then Black Flame Clones (and now is one of Mutsuigeki Generals).
Speaking about Marisa, she apparently managed to add few other adjustments. One such adjustments allows the golems to do a blitzkrieg rush to the books when she doesn't feel like risking herself during one of her raids. An other one make the golems attack from all possible directions. Not only that, she even able to create 'Boss' Golems to complement her golem forces! In return, Patchouli added a special function that allows her golems to act like a tower in a typical Tower Defense game. The downside is, they can only be deployed on top of the shelves. Later on, Marisa would introduce 'Super Boss' Golems after hearing about Alice's Goliath-class dolls.
Supplementary files regarding 2011 Star Patchouli Conflict
Both Patchouli and Marisa would later temporarily stop using golems when Trans-Dimensional Warfare hit Earth. During this period, Patchouli assembles an army of fairies and arthropod robots. With this army, she managed to repel Marisa during one of her raids. Defeated, Marisa flees from the scene and swore revenge against Patchouli as she prepared her own army of fairies and an arsenal of weapons of her own to combat Patchouli and her legion of fairies and machines. The conflict began at 2011.
When Star Patchouli (a Space Library that Patchouli built as her arthropod robots mothership) went rogue and shot down Robo-Patchouli Type 2, both Marisa and Patchouli are forced to escape, with Marisa being led by Remilia while Patchouli went to her mechanized fortress to activate her golems again. This is the part where Marisa and the entire SDM are thankful that Yukari created Sengoku Gensokyo.
As Marisa reached SDM Garden, her forces are being ambushed by rogue arthropod robots, but they're relieved by Sakuya and her fairy maids. Realizing that the rogues can be a threat to Gensokyo, Marisa used her experience from the First Sengoku Gensokyo as Reimu's strategist to coordinate with Sakuya and clear out the SDM. Not long after dispatching a rogue Robo-Patchouli Type 2, she also decided to activate her golems again. Then she marches to the underground facility of Patchouli's mechanized fortress and castle.
There, both Marisa and Patchouli unexpectedly met each other, and soon enough, the rogues converged upon them, forcing a cease-fire to deal with common enemy. Marisa learned from Patchouli that she built the Space Library with one of the mysterious ultra-energy objects found in Outside World following Trans-Dimensional Warfare that found its way to the mechanized fortress months after the war began. After clearing most of the underground facility, they split ways. Marisa went to the power room, while Patchouli went to the control room.
Just then, a Robo-Patchouli Type 1 and a Robo-Patchouli Type 2 got released from the hangar. Apparently, both has been repaired while Marisa made her way underground. Patchouli is internally glad that she still has her Mecha-Patchouli at least. Patchouli then reveals the reason why she sent Marisa to the power room. It has to be destroyed in order to make Star Patchouli vulnerable. Once the Robo-Patchoulis are taken down, the power room became overcharged, and Marisa is forced to withdraw, but Patchouli remains in her post.
For one last push, Marisa's fairy army linked up with Sakuya's fairy maids, Remilia, and surprisingly, Flandre as well. From there, they decided to strike at the library in order to thin out the rogue forces. Once they're done, they head outside to clear the remaining rogue forces. There, Marisa is forced to face the horde with her forces alone, since Sakuya, Remilia, and Flandre were struck down early. Many fell in droves, yet she still stands. Finally, Marisa managed to force Star Patchouli to show up. The final battle is here at last.
After taking down the cannon arms and the ring turret, Star Patchouli suddenly changed form. Roaring in defiance, Marisa holds her rifle and about to charge, when the entire SDM came to reinforce her force! Not only that, even Reimu joins as well! Despite complaining about being unable to take the glory all to herself, Marisa is still grateful for the reinforcement, and proceeds to shoot at Star Patchouli's eyes all while the rest covers for her. At some point due to Star Patchouli's relentless barrage, the SDM crew retreated, leaving Marisa and Reimu as the only one remaining.
Finally, Star Patchouli has been defeated. While Marisa tries to take the books, Patchouli barges in with her Mecha-Patchouli, and the rest of SDM watched in amusement. Reimu is about to return home when she noticed that the core of Star Patchouli is still active, and she promptly deals with it. Later, UNM will be shocked when they found out and grateful that Gensokyo already took care of it, since the mysterious object that Patchouli used to build Star Patchouli turns out to be none other than a Tiberium crystal!

Alongside Alice, Marisa and Patchouli are part of Magus Trio, since they're the only magicians that capable of fielding forces that rivals those of major factions. Despite Patchouli being affiliated with SDM, it's clear that she's able to field a force independent from that of Scarlet Defense Army, which is headed by Sakuya with Remilia as the Commander-in-Chief. Since Star Patchouli Conflict, both Marisa and Patchouli no longer holding back in their regular skirmishes (namely, Marisa raids and Patchouli defends). As time passes, this turns into a sort of rivalry.
