Part 18

A few days had passed and rachel had come home from hospital and was beginning to feel slightly better. Rachel hated being at home with nothing to do, she was bored. Three days post operation she found herself getting her famous trouser suit on.

"Your not going to work" Eddie said coming in with two coffees.

"I am, because I can't spend another day in this place"

"But rachel you've just had surgery"

"Yeah please don't remind me, look Eddie I'm going in, my body my rules, its bad enough that I'm bleeding constantly, the last thing I want is to sit here wallowing in south pity, I need to get on with it" Rachel reasoned.

"Promise me your do light duties please" Eddie said putting the mugs on the side and going over to rachel putting his hands on her shoulders.

"I promise" Rachel weakly smiled making the hold into a hug as she melted into his arms. There embrace continued for a while. It was at this point rachel started to sob.

"Hey hey" Eddie said comforting Rachel.

Rachel stepped back wiping her eyes "I'm fine"

"Your not, you've been through a traumatic experience, it is okay to cry rachel"

"Is it? Is it truly okay?" Rachel snapped "Just leave it you don't get it" she said walking over to the bed and putting her suit jacket on.

"Oh of course, I forgot I don't matter, it was my baby too, or did you forget that?" Eddie snapped back.

"Guys chill" Evelyn said bursting in to the room "Look I can't deal with another day of this, its not a my horse is bigger than your horse, you both are acting like children"

"Evelyn don't start lecturing me" Rachel sighed.

"I'm not, but stop being so sensitive, you've both lost this baby, mums in pain, you both need to move on and stop this stupidity, there can be another baby"

"You don't understand Evelyn"

"Your not the only one that lost a baby you know" Evelyn snapped walking out.

Rachel looked at Eddie, him looking at rachel both shocked at Evelyn's outburst.

"She's got a point, you need to help me understand rachel" Eddie sighed as rachel sat on the bed trying to digest the info.

"I'll get Kim to have a word, I don't think I can deal with that" rachel said sitting not he bed

"Okay, that seems fair" Eddie said sitting on the bed next to rachel. "Your not on your own through this, I promise"

Rachel nodded "We better get downstairs, i'll be okay I promise"

Eddie nodded "I know you will" he smiled and kissed her cheek.

They both walked downstairs and saw Evelyn in the lounge.

"Hey you, I want to have a chat about what you said, can we do it first lesson today?" Rachel asked

Evelyn sighed but nodded.

"I want Kim there, I don't think I can go through it on my own"

"Mom I didn't want to say anything, ill talk to Kim on her own if you want me too? She can then relay the basics to you"

Rachel sighed "alright I'll chat to her"

Evelyn nodded feeling like she dodged a bullet speaking to Rachel and breathed out.

Soon enough they were all on their way to school. Rachel giving in and letting Eddie drive to school, clearly the highlight of his morning. Eddie and Rachel resumed their position in her office nursing what was their second cup of coffee that morning.

"Rachel, your back" Kim smiled walking in

"I am" She smiled "Right lets get straight onto it, I'm fragile, but I'm fine, I'm on light duties and would prefer not to interact with the children at this time, unless it is urgent and requires my interaction."

"That seems fair" Eddie smiled taking a sip of his coffee.

"Nothing else really this morning, Kim I just need a favour"

"Yeah sure" She smiled

"Can you speak to Evelyn, she had an outburst this morning about losing a baby too and I had no idea, but I don't think I can cope with it"

"Sure, does she know I'm going to speak to her"

"She does"

"Apologies to interrupt" Tom said opening the office down "Evelyn's in the cooler"

"Already?! She's been at school 5 minutes" Eddie sighed.

"She smacked another girl in the playground saw it with my own eyes"

Rachel sighed "Alright thanks tom"

"Look I'll go now and get to the bottom of this" Kim said standing.

"Thanks Kim I do appreciate it"
