I know I sound like a broken record, but I'm really sorry for taking this long with updating this story. Life got in the way, and also other stories had my focus. Right, so just a refresher, last chapter dealt with the Avengers, DEO, and Shield fighting another Cadmus facility, while also fighting and retrieving Kara and Clark's clones.
This chapter will explain a little of the events of the episode Star-Crossed, but a little different. After that, we'll go into the clone business.
Also, sorry that I haven't been updating since summer started. I honestly don't know why I haven't, I think it's a combination of Writers Block, and lack of energy or interest, but I'm trying. The only thing I've done is add a Post Credit for another story, and do rewrites for my story Loud Gravity. Let's hope inspiration hits me with a sledgehammer soon.
Again, thank you all for staying with me this long, and I hope you enjoy the chapter.
Natasha stood in the balcony of the DEO, overlooking the city. Mon-El stood next to her, but he looked like he aged a couple of years, as well as looking like he was going to cry. She placed her hand on his shoulder in comfort, and he nodded in thanks.
"So, I can say that was a resounding success." She said, trying to lighten the mood.
Mon-El merely snorted humorlessly.
Meeting Mon-El's mother was a fun, as well as witnessing Carol going full glowy, and power radiating from her, as she threatened Rhea, after she had threatened Earth, everyone on it, including the 'Damn Kryptonian's' that had manipulated and corrupted her son.
Natasha made a note to never to make Carol Danvers mad, something that she had done previously regarding Kara and Alex, especially if it involved their family.
But she earned herself Natasha's respect, and that was hard for someone to do.
The greeting was as expected, a son and mother reuniting, and then a dinner to celebrate this. Natasha had met people in power like Rhea, so she knew how to handle them, and she had to assume Carol had too, considering she had been in space the longest. Rhea tried to be civil, but Natasha could see how she really felt, cause she knew that all Rhea cared about was getting her son back, heading back to wherever they now called home, and go back to how things were before Krypton and Daxam was destroyed.
And then there was the revelation that Daxam was hospitable again, and they were planning on returning, once they had gotten Mon-El back. But Mon-El had revealed to his mother that he wasn't planning on going back, and he was staying on Earth. And his reasons for doing so, which include making up for what he and the Royal Family had done to Daxam. That his new life had given him a new perspective on life. Rhea herself wasn't pleased or believed him, thinking that he was under the influence of the people there, or someone. Or that he was forgetting his Daxamite roots.
Natasha and Carol had tried to explain his reasoning, but Rhea was having none of it. Mon-El then said he would only leave with her, if she promised that things would change on Daxam. And that the Kryptonian's were right to look down on them, and that they were the bad guys.
That led to some long simmering issues coming back to light, mainly blaming the Kryptonian's for what happened to Daxam. And it also lead Rhea to consider bringing the Daxamite survivors to Earth, in the hopes to make it their new home. But, both Natasha and Carol had seen through what she had meant, which was threatening to get the remaining Daxamites scattered across space and they would then invade, and take over Earth. And it went unsaid she would make sure that the one who changed her son be punished and the Kryptonian's will be killed, and it would hopefully make Mon-El see reason.
After figuring that out, and getting Rhea to admit it, Carol had gotten pissed, and go full glow mode. She then stomping over to Rhea, after she knocked out the guards that tried to stop her, and made it clear that if she tried that, then she would destroy everything, and her without any mercy or guilt.
And if she wasn't around, then the Avengers would be there.
She then finished it off, by saying she should leave now, before she would enact her promise.
All in all, Natasha now knew that the blonde was her new favorite person, and she could totally see where Alex and Kara got their badassery from.
Although in all honesty, she wished things would've ended on friendly terms. Mainly due to the fact that Natasha didn't want another alien invasion to happen, and to also deal with Fury being in a more foul mood than usual. But, sometimes things just didn't go a certain way.
After that, although with the guards and soldiers following them, they left the room, and went back to the ship. Natasha saw Mon-El give his mother a sorrowful look, and she saw that Rhea looked thoroughly pissed, but she saw the sad and slightly betrayed look she was giving her son.
And once they returned to Earth, and explaining everything. Needless to say, Fury and J'onn weren't happy, and Fury had to leave, so he could tell his superiors, and also plan for whatever potential invasion could happen. The only thing that kept the one eyed Director from having an Aneurysm was that Carol was planning on staying for a while, in case anything happened.
Now, everyone was recuperating after both missions ended. Natasha had already seen the unconscious forms of Kara and Clarks clones, and could immediately see the resemblance of both Kara and Clark in them. But she could spot differences in them, like their other features were based on some other people that Natasha had a feeling she knew, but couldn't quite place it.
"I thought I can change things, and help my mom see reason, but I guess that isn't going to happen." Mon-El said.
Natasha placed a comforting hand on his shoulder, and said, "Hey, at lease you tried. You have to consider what she's been through, and what she lost. She was probably different before she and the others were forced to leave Daxam, but things changed. And I'm sorry that you had to go through that."
"It's alright, and thanks. Maybe that's how she was beforehand, and I just never noticed. Even though how things turn out, she still my mother, and I still love her. Although now I don't whether to be awe or terrified of Kara and Alex's Aunt."
Natasha smirked, and said," Yeah, she got the Danvers badassery down to a T."
Mon-El chuckled at that, and then asked," So, how do you think everyone will look at me now, considering they now know who I am?"
Natasha gave it a thought, and then said," Well, I think they'll understand, but I think Kara will be the only holdout, for very obvious reasons. I know Clark wouldn't have an opinion, considering he doesn't have any experience with the whole feud. But I think Kara will come around… once Rogers talks to her. Also, speaking of Kara, you should see her and Clark's clones."
Mon-El thought about it for a moment, and said," Okay… and Nat, thank you."
Natasha smiled at him with a nod, and said," What are… people who are learning about relationships for?"
The both of them chuckled, with Mon-El feeling a little better, and they both went to the infirmary. Kara and Clark sat by their respective clones bedsides, while everyone was standing around, and also waiting for Alex and Winn, who had taken DNA samples from the clones, to find anything more about them.
While Tony and Felicity were decrypting and checking the information they had gathered, mainly information that had to do with the clones.
Clint had to stay at the second Cadmus facility to monitor and help out with the clean up. While Jeremiah, Eliza, and Carol had left with Fury, due to Fury wanting to debrief Jeremiah on anything else he knew about Cadmus. And to also work a plea deal or something that didn't get him jail time or in more trouble.
Luckily, Stark had made a comment about having his lawyers handle any issues, free of charge.
Two small yellow sun projectors were pointed at them, due to the both of them needing a quick surgery to get any remnants of the mind control devices out of them. And to get them to heal faster, just in case.
"So, what have you found out about them so far?" Natasha asked.
J'onn was the first one to speak, and said," I combed through their psyches, and I didn't find any programming in their heads. Those chips in their necks were the only thing controlling them. So we don't have to worry about any surprises from Cadmus, once they wake up."
Kara looked at her clone in interest, and in slight trepidation. She also feeling other emotions, but she wasn't sure to think about this.
Cadmus had used her DNA to a clone of her, and as a possible deterrent to use against her. It sickened her that they would do something like that, but she also felt the need to protect her, and to guide her. She had the power to do great things, if the fight she had with her was anything to go by, and didn't know what her personality would be like once she woke up.
Jeremiah had told them how he helped them control their powers, and was there for a little bit of the process when they were being made. Due to his familiarity with Kryptonian physiology.
Another thing that bothered Kara was that even though she could see some of her physical features in her, and like Alex, she had noticed that there were differences, and they looked familiar too, but she wasn't sure where she had seen them.
She could tell that Clark had similar thoughts as he sat on his clones bedside.
Lucy had left earlier to get Lois, after Clark had asked her to get her. And Kara felt a little amusement of what Lois's reaction would be.
She felt a hand on her shoulder, and looked at Steve, who was sitting next to her.
"Are you going to be alright?" He asked.
"I honestly don't know. This whole situation is just… odd. I mean, did I tell you that on Krypton, all the babies were genetically made in a lab? And no one… did the traditional way of doing it?"
Steve nodded; it was something that left a bad taste in his mouth. And it reminded him of how Hitler used to talk about a perfect race, and the rumor of the Nazi's doing selective breeding to create Hitler's vision of it. And that Clark and Kara's parents was the first people to conceive a child the normal way for a long time, due to Krypton's Government outlawing it.
"Y'know, with how long I've been Superman, I would've thought I seen or heard everything, but, being cloned is something I didn't see coming." Clark said, in an attempt to lighten the mood.
Kara actually snorted, and sardonically said," Well, I'm still relatively new in the superhero department, Kal. I guess this is a learning curve for the both of us."
"Well, at least you guys got them. And Kara… I know this isn't the best time but… I'm sorry for not telling you, and the others about who I really am." Mon-El said.
Kara sighed, looked at Mon-El, and said," To be completely honest, I wasn't happy at first. But, thinking about it now, due to the circumstance before what happened today, you wanted a fresh start. Although with how your personality was when I first got to know you, I just thought you were just some Daxam Noble's kid, and not the actual Prince."
Mon-El bit his lip, and said," You probably would've treated me a whole lot worse if you knew I was the Prince of Daxam, would you?"
"Well… I might've been a little meaner-"
"You, mean?" Natasha quipped.
"That'll be the day." M'gann joked.
Steve covered his mouth to cough, and one could see the small smile on his face.
Kara gave them an unamused look and continued, "As I was saying, I would've been a little meaner towards to you, but I wouldn't beat you up or anything… well, before we got things cleared up once we got you in custody… although you were confused and worried, so us fighting was sorta justifiable… I think I may need to stop talking." Kara finished, feeling a little bad and embarrassed.
Mon-El didn't look mad, but nodded, and said," Yeah… that may have been my line of reasoning as well. Besides your guys clones, I'm just wondering what will happen with my mom."
"We won't be expecting any invasion anytime soon, would we? Cause I believe we can work things out with your help." Steve said.
Even though he was there for the debriefing, it didn't hurt to get more information in case of anything happening. He felt bad for Mon-El, and hoped they could reason with Mon-El's mother, but from the looks of things, either everyone needed to cool down, and talk again, or wait for whatever problem from that meeting to come to light later.
"And if not, then we can sick Aunt Carol on them. I'm sure she can handle it." Alex said, as she walked into the room with the Winn, and Tony.
"Oh, you know she wouldn't even break a sweat. What did you guys find?" Kara asked.
Tony was the one to speak, and said," Well Danvers, JARVIS, Fel and I decrypted enough data so far to get a good idea on how your and Supes clones came to be, and the reasons they were made in the first place. They were made expressly to replace or fight you either if you ever turned bad, or if Cadmus wanted to off you both for other reasons." He then looked at Winn.
"Right… both clones were made in 16 weeks, and once they were mature enough, they were given flash knowledge or some type of schooling, sorta wish that was thing for school, so I wouldn't have to go there for long. But their education was for Cadmus's benefit. They were then implanted with those chips, because they exhibited bad behavior. And that isn't the crazy part." Winn said with a wince.
Alex gave Kara and Clark worried looks, and then showed them what was on her tablet. The group in the room looked at the screen, and saw what looked like to be four different sets of DNA.
"The strands on the left are yours and Clarks DNA. Don't have to take a guess on they got yours, Kara. But it's a bigger guess on where they got Clarks. Basically, they tried to make clones from just your guys DNA. But those Projects didn't work because the DNA sequences were incomplete. So they needed something else to complete them."
"So like… how they cloned the dinosaurs in Jurassic Park? Kara and I had a movie night." Steve explained, when the ones who didn't know looked at him.
"Right… but unlike how they did it in the movie, they used human DNA to complete the sequences… are you both sure you want to hear this?" Alex asked.
She would've understood, she was pretty shocked, and still was from what she found.
"Might as well." Clark said.
"Yeah, go ahead." Kara said, and held Steve's hand, which he squeezed in comfort.
Alex took a breath, and said," The donor DNA for Clark's was Lex Luthor and Kara's was from Lena Luthor."
Silence was met from that revelation, and the people who didn't know were left to process this information. Kara hoped that her sister was mistaken, but once she thought about it, and looked at her clone again, the sense of familiarity she felt when she looked at her, made a lot of sense. Part of her facial features, and also her eyes were all from Lena.
Kara finally sat down as she took in the information, and Clark did the same, but he had his hand to his mouth, and looked to be thinking.
Steve looked at his girlfriend with sympathy, he then sat next to her, and said," Well, I guess the next course of action is to tell Lena, both about your clone, and who you are."
Kara gave Steve an incredulous look, and said," I don't think that would be a good idea."
Alex gave her sister a look, and said," Kara, Lena has the right to know about what Lillian and Cadmus did, and I know you have reservations about her knowing who you really are, but it was bound to happen sometime."
"Yeah, I mean, she can either find out from the source, or from a not so friendly source." Winn added.
Kara sighed, feeling the weight of what she might have to do. To be completely honest, she didn't want Lena to know she was Supergirl, she wanted her to know her as just Kara Danvers. She also knew some of her hesitance had to do with the fact that she was Luthor, and considering the history between Luthor's and Kryptonian's, then things could end badly, she didn't know.
"Kara."
Kara looked at Clark, who gave her a knowing look." I felt the same way about revealing my secret to Lois, Jimmy, and Chloe. I know the reasoning why you don't want to tell her, and I personally believe you shouldn't. But, Lena is your friend, and she deserves to know."
Kara then looked at her boyfriend, and she was met with the same look as Clark, which meant he was agreeing with everyone.
Kara sighed once again, and said," Right, so… does anyone want to come with me to get Lena?"
"Now what kind of a sister would I be if I didn't help you in your time of need?" Alex said, trying to lighten the mood.
Kara gave her a grateful look, and the both of them walked out of the infirmary.
M'gann had a thoughtful look, and said," I hope they get a video of whatever happens. I personally think that Lena does know, but wants Kara to tell her. Now that would be priceless."
Tony chuckled, and said," Same kid. Same."
Lena was in her office working on some things when she heard a knock at the door.
"Come in." She said.
The door opened, and she was surprised to see both Supergirl, who didn't come through her balcony, and Kara's sister, Alex Danvers. She noticed they both had looks that she couldn't decipher, but they looked troubled.
"Supergirl, Miss Danvers, what seems to be the problem?"
The 'this time' went unsaid, she had gotten a call earlier from Director Nick Fury of Shield himself, saying that her intel was correct, and that Shield and the DEO had stopped her mother and Cadmus from whatever they were going to do with the kidnapped aliens. She was glad that they had stopped them, and silently wondered why the next crisis couldn't happen at a later date.
Although she had mixed feelings about how Fury had admitted that his superiors had a kill/capture order on her mother, and that she was injured, but when they tried to find her after the fighting had stopped, she was gone. Now, Lena couldn't find it in herself to forgive Lilian for all she's done, but she was still family, and she in no way wanted or thought to have Lilian killed. That would be a step towards acting like Lex, but he wasn't in the business in killing his own family, which was a small comfort, even though Lex had done far more worse things.
"Miss Luthor... there is a situation back at the DEO that requires your attention. You'll have to come with us." Alex said.
"May I ask what is this is about? If it's about what my mother did and Cadmus, then I already told Supergirl all I know, and the Director Shield had already called me gave me about what happened."
Supergirl spoke this time, and said," Lena, this is important. Please."
The pleading tone was something that Lena never thought she would hear from Supergirl, and the fact she used her first name meant whatever the issue was, it was serious.
"Okay, let's go then."
Lena walked into the main room of the DEO, that's what Alex had told her from the few conversations they had in the car. It was just her and Kara's sister, Supergirl had chosen to fly. The other conversations they had were about anything else regarding the Cadmus raid, and the something about needing a DNA sample, blood to be exact, from her, which she felt uncomfortable about, but Alex had said that once she saw what the issue was, then the reasoning behind it will make sense.
She was incredibly surprised to see both Felicity Stark and Megan Scott sitting and chatting by some monitors, the former meant that Tony Stark was here, which made Lena guess it was something Avengers related. While seeing Megan there made a little sense, the girl was staying with Kara for a Foreign Exchange Student program, so the girl probably spent time with Alex, so she guessed Kara and Alex told her. Which didn't make sense, considering M'gann was a simple exchange student, but she had feeling she would find out the reason later.
Both teenagers noticed her, and waved, and she waved back with small smile.
The three of them went up a flight of stairs, and they walked to a room that looked like an infirmary. Once she walked in, she saw the people in the room, which was J'onn, Tony Stark, a woman who gave an air of danger to her, and she recognized her as the Black Widow, and another male, who was standing next to her. While the last two were the most surprising, which was Superman, who gave a nod, but with a slightly guarded look, which she didn't fault him on, due to the history he had with her family.
And Steve Rogers aka Captain America himself, someone she knew was working with Supergirl for the past couple of weeks. She was hoping she was looking presentable, and also hoped she wouldn't make a fool of herself in front of him
Cause the pictures, and the videos from her history classes, as well as footage from the Battle of New York didn't do him justice. He was even more handsome in person.
Due to that, she almost missed the two people who were lying on two hospital beds unconscious. She looked at them, and saw that they were teenagers, one boy and one girl, but she took particular interest in the girl. She ended up looking at the girls features for a minute until it dawned on her that she looked familiar.
She then looked at Alex and Supergirl, and said," Who is she?"
"Courtesy of Cadmus, they used yours and Lex's DNA and combined them with Supergirl and Superman's DNA to make them." Alex explained.
Lena racked her brain for whatever reason why her mother would want to do that, but she came up empty.
"Just why would she though?" She asked.
"We've looked through the intel we gathered from the Cadmus raid, and the raid where we found the clones. Apparently they were made in case they were needed to take out Supergirl or Superman, or to replace them." Steve explained.
"Of course." She muttered, just another reason why her family was complicated.
She then went to sit down in the chair next to the female clone, and held her hand. She looked at the heart monitor, and was pleased to see her heart rate seemed to relax more.
"So, what now?" Lena asked.
"Well, we don't know when they'll wake up. But we were planning on training them to help them understand their powers. After that, we're not exactly sure." J'onn explained.
Lena nodded, and she then looked at Supergirl, who was looking at the clone again, or she was, after she was looking at her for a second with certain look on her face.
Alex noticed this and nudged Supergirl with her shoulder. She looked at her, and Alex was giving her a look.
Kara sighed, and said," Uh Miss Luthor, do you think you and I can talk privately for a moment?"
"Sure."
The both them then left the room, leaving everyone else in it.
"That was one of the reasons why I revealed myself as Iron Man. Too much baggage." Tony said with a shake of his head.
"Really that was one of them?" Steve asked. "Also, Kara and Clark chose to keep their secret identities a secret, they aren't obligated to reveal themselves."
"That, and to protect people that we care for. We may have powers, but things can still happen." Clark said.
Tony shrugged, and said," Too each their own."
Kara chose to talk to Lena in the balcony outside, and she prepared herself for what she was about to do.
"So what do you want to talk about? I can only guess it's about the… or our clone? I will say, it's a lot to take in." Lena said.
"Yeah, it really is. But it's not that, it's about something else. Lena, what I'm about to tell you is something I wanted to tell you for a while, but was too scared to do so, in fear of the what could happen. And I hope you don't think less of me." Kara said as she looked down, feeling bad and trying to find the right words.
Kara then felt a someone hold her hand, and looked up to see Lena, who had a sympathetic look, and she said," If it's about who you really are Kara... I've had a feeling for while now."
Kara was shocked, and managed to say," H-how?"
Lena shrugged, and said," Well, I didn't at first, but all the times you had to cancel, the times I didn't see you when Supergirl appeared. I guess I didn't want to act on my feeling, knowing the history of my family, and Kryptonian's. I'm not mad, although both a little hurt and completely understand why. Due to obvious reasons."
"Yeah, I just wanted you to know me as Kara Danvers, and not as Supergirl. I didn't want to hurt you or our friendship, but currently events finally led me to telling you." Kara explained.
"And I thank you for that, you've been a great friend, someone who treats me as me, and not like some kind of villain. I doesn't matter whether your a Super or not, Kara, or Supergirl."
Kara giggled, and both friends hugged, with Kara feeling a weight was lifted off of her shoulders. With everyone she knew, she was glad Lena now knew her secret.
Once Lena lets go, she looked at Kara, and said," So, about our clone... I am planning on taking care of her, I don't know whether you would want to as well. Not as a couple or anything. Sorry Kara." She said the last part with small grin.
Kara grinned a little as well, and said, "It's fine, but yeah you can take care of her. For me, I honestly don't know, a couple of hours ago I was fighting her, while she was under mind control. So I'm a little apprehensive, but I will give it a shot."
She knew she had to, sure she was still apprehensive, and scared, but she knew should get a lecture from both Alex and Steve. And she knew that whatever they would say, they would be right.
"Good... so, besides the clone, and your identity. What else should I know?"
Kara only thought about it for a moment, and she then grinned mischievously.
"Three things. One: My aunt, who is Alex's biological Aunt, is a superpowered hero who got her powers from a cube of power, and she's been fighting and traveling the Universe. Who also helped me with my powers when Clark wasn't available. Two: Megan or M'gann, is actually a Martian from Mars like J'onn, or Director Henshaw as you know him. And finally... I'm dating Captain America or how everyone knows him, Steve Rogers."
She couldn't help but laugh at the shocked expression Lena was making.
So that's it for that chapter, and we now don't have any drama with Lena finding out about Kara like in the show. There is a possibility I might end things during Season 5, during the Crisis on Infinite Earth's storyline, which is my Endgame for the Super-Avenger series, but we'll just have to wait and see.
Also, in regards to the crossover episode 'Duet', that will be in a separate story, so look out for that in the future.
If you want the a face claim to the clones then here.
Kara and Lena's: Jacqueline Scislowski (Credits: Power Rangers Beast Morphers)
Clark and Lex's: Spencer Boldman (Credits: Lab Rats)
Also, regarding the actors and actresses for Power Rangers Beast Morphers, Liana Ramirez, who played Roxy, does look like Katie McGrath, so I was debating for some time whether to use Liana or Jacqueline. So guess if you ever picture a younger Lena Luthor, then picture Liana Ramirez as her.
And to make things clear, this is not going to be a Polyamory with Kara, Steve and Lena, this is strictly Kara and Steve. Lena is just going to have a hand with helping and being there for Kara's clone.
Till next time.
