Awakening

Her eyes started to flutter open, and her vision was foggy for a moment. What wasn't foggy, was her mind, and she didn't feel the control, or weight of her mind from the implant. She let out a soft groan, and she opened her eyes fully. The room she was in wasn't the room she recognized, and she didn't see the doctor, the scientists or Lillian. The latter wanted her and Subject 1 to call her grandmother, but it felt wrong saying it for some reason. She looked to her left, and saw Subject 1 was next to her, asleep, and that quelled a little of her fear, but she still wondered where she was.

She let her enhanced hearing to hear what was going on around her. There was a lot of people talking about various things, but two voices, who were female, sounded like they were approaching. This caused the previous fear she had earlier to come back.

"I still can't believe I lost the bet." One of the voices grumbled.

"Well, you should've known it was going to play out like that, considering how our lives are." another voice teased.

The previous voice sounded exasperated when she said. "I'm just saying M, whatever happened to the classic romantic way of saying 'I love you?'"

"I get what you're saying, but it is a long time coming though. I'm just glad those two dummies finally admitted it." The other voice amusingly said.

"Yeah… Kara is lucky. I wonder what Captain America is like in bed?"

The girl furrowed her brows, wondered why someone wanted to know someone's sleeping habits.

The other voice giggled and said, "I'll have to ask Alex, or Nat, if they want to tell us the details."

The talking and footsteps became louder, and two adolescent girls walked in, and stopped once they saw her. All three of them stared at one another for what felt like hours.

The one with the black hair, smiled a little at her, and said," Hi."

The girl let out a small yelp.

Neither party noticed the lone male figure in the room eyes shooting open.

Kara was starting to wake up, and let out a soft moan, and she opened her eyes. She then turned around, and noticed that it looked like someone else had been in it. She was momentarily confused, but remembered what had happened, and smiled.

She and Steve had admitted that they loved each other (The events leading to it wasn't something she would like to experience ever again), and they had sex for the first time. And it was great.

Her love for Steve, was something that she had tried to figure out, and once she did, she was worried about what would happen if she did tell him, whether or not he would feel the same way or not. Even though the way how she, and also Steve finally admitted it was something she wasn't planning experience anytime soon. It had worked.

She was still debating on whether to thank Music Meister or sock him in his admittedly nice jaw.

She also made a mental note to call Barry, and ask how things between him and Iris went after they left Earth-1.

She got out of her musings when she smelled something cooking, and felt her stomach rumble. Once she got out of bed, she put on some casual clothes, which consisted of sweats and a shirt, and walked out of her room, and smiled at what she saw.

Steve was making breakfast, and she her mouth watered at the box of donuts that was on the table.

She then walked over to him, and hugged him from behind.

"Morning." She said as she snuggled into his back.

"Morning." Steve said with a smile, and turned off the stove.

He then turned around, and gave Kara a hug, and she snuggled into her chest, and he kissed her head.

Kara looked up and leaned in to kiss him, and Steve reciprocated kindly.

Once Kara pulled back, she smiled lovingly at her boyfriend, and said," Last night… was wow."

Steve nodded, and said," Same, doll. I'm glad that I finally told you how I truly felt about you."

"Same… I just wish it would've happened in a more conventional manner."

Steve unconsciously held Kara closer, images of seeing her bleeding out and pain, even though it was in some dream world, went through his mind. He hoped to never see her like that ever again.

Kara placed a hand on his cheek, and said," Hey, I'm fine. You and Iris got to me and Barry on time."

"I know, but I promise to keep you safe."

Kara smirked, and said," You're my star spangled knight in shining armor, aren't you?"

Steve grinned at her, and said," In the flesh, m'lady."

Kara laughed, and she gave him one more kiss.

"Well I'm starving, let's eats." She said.

Before they could, Kara's phone started to ring, and Kara groaned.

"You eat, I'll get it."

Steve walked over to the counter, and saw that Winn was calling.

Steve answered it, and said," Hey Winn."

Kara, who had already started to eat a donut, knew something was wrong, due to the way Steve looked as he listened to what Winn had to say. Once he ended the call, Kara walked over to him.

"What's wrong?"

"The clones are awake."

Both Kara and Steve walked into the DEO, or slightly rushed in. Kara was half expecting the place to be a warzone, but everything looked fine. But she did keep her guard up, the last time the clones were awake, she and Clark were fighting them.

Her guard went down a little, when she saw Winn, who saw them as well, and rushed over to them.

"Glad to see you guys are here." He said.

"Hey, when you were on the phone, you sounded frazzled. We thought things would be bad." Steve said.

Winn winced, and said," Right sorry, with how our first interactions with the clones went. I was a little frazzled. But everything is fine now."

"Fine how?" Kara asked.

Winn made a motion to follow him upstairs, and he started to walk. Kara would have gone with him, but she felt nervous, and wasn't sure if she could do this. Steve took her hand into his own, and squeezed. Kara looked at him, and he gave her a look of support.

She nodded, and walked with him.

When the group of three walked to the infirmary, the two who didn't know what was going on, but were surprised with what they saw.

Both M'gann and Angie were talking with Kara's clone, who seemed to be enjoying herself, and talked to them once in a while. While Kal's clone was sitting next to her, who looked like he was brooding, or was just silently listening to the conversation. But Kara could see the slight curve upward of his lip. But she wasn't sure, it looked like he was giving looks to M'gann.

Kara's clone seemed to sense their presence, looked at them. Kara still couldn't believe she can see her own facial features in her, including Lena's, especially her eyes. Her face broke into a smile, which was filled with awe.

"You're Supergirl." She said.

Kara could hear the awe in her voice, and looked at Kal's clone, who looked surprised. Kara also noticed how the girls smile seemed to be a mixture of her and Lena's.

Steve knew this was something they shouldn't be a part, and motioned for M'gann, Angie, and Winn to follow him. Once they did, that left Kara with her and Kal's clone's. Kara wasn't sure what to do, even though she pretty much went over what she could possibly saw in her head, or aloud for the past couple of days. She then took a breath, and sat down in the chair M'gann was using earlier.

"Um, yeah, hi. So, you know me?" Kara asked, and winced at the stupid question.

She so wanted Clark and Lena there with her, she knew Alex had went to get Lena. While for Clark, he was already on his way with Lois. Steve would've been or number 1 choice, but she knew he would say this was something she needed to face alone.

Or maybe she could pout at him, and he would relent and help her?

"The doctor and Lillian told us about you, and Superman. They also showed us pictures of the both of you as well. They said that we were to put you down or replace you." Clark's clone said.

Kara knew that from the notes they found about them, but that didn't mean she felt less angry.

"Or how she wanted us to call her, grandmother. But, it didn't feel right call her that." Kara's clone said, and Clark's clone nodded.

Kara took satisfaction in knowing that the both of them weren't blind to how Lillian was.

Her clone then looked guilty, and shyly said, "I'm sorry."

Kara was surprised by the statement, and asked," What?"

"I'm sorry for attacking you. We were forced to do it. Due to the mind control. I hope your not mad at us." She apologetically said.

"Yeah, sorry." Clark's clone said, and it seemed his face darkened a little at the mentioning of the last part, but he still looked guilty.

Kara couldn't be mad at them if she tried, mainly due to knowing that they were forced to do it. And also she felt like hugging them, because of how guilty they looked.

Kara gave them a reassuring look. "Hey, don't worry, I'm not mad. I promise. But do you know why you both were under mind control?"

"We both… didn't want to fight you or Superman if the time came to it. I guess it didn't feel right. We wanted to help like you. When they suggested the implants, we tried to fight them, but they subdued us with Kryptonite." Clark's clone said, and he sounded pretty angry at what happened.

"Not sure what happened after that. It was all so foggy, and all I remember was waking up, and meeting both M'gann and Angie." Kara's clone said.

Kara involuntarily clenched her fists in anger. Whatever worry or pre-determined thoughts she had on them, mainly due to thinking they were bad, and had the same mindset as Lillian or anyone else at Cadmus. But, they seemed to have the same mindset as Clark and her, and didn't want to do anything bad, or be like all the jerks at Cadmus.

She didn't feel the same conflict or fear like before, it felt like it was replaced with resolve, and the urge to help them.

She also didn't think it was right to keep referring to them as her/Lena's clone or Clark/Kal's clone.

"So, do you two have names by any chance?" Kara asked.

Her clone shrugged, and said," I don't think so. Our project names were Kr. But 'subject' was what the scientists called us."

Kara looked at Clark's clone, and he nodded. She felt a pain in her heart, even though she was still hesitant and scared about all of this. Even though she felt anger at all of this, and what these two went through.

"Um, I can give you a names. How about that?" Kara suggested.

Her clone perked up at that, and said," Really? M'gann and Angelica were about to suggest that, before I saw you."

Kara could already tell the three or maybe the four of them were going to be good friends. Well four, if M'gann and Angie decided to introduce her and Clark's clones to Felicity.

"Oh, did they come up with any?"

"They said something about a name with the letter 'K' for her. They thought 'C' would be a good idea for me. They just had a feeling." Clark's clone said with a shrug.

"Did they come up with anything?"

Clark's clone nodded, and said," They didn't have one for Subject 2. But M'gann... she called me Conner. I liked it."

Kara nodded, grinned, and said," Okay, that's a good name."

Kara then looked at her clone, who looked excited, and Kara couldn't help but find that slightly adorable. She thought about it for a moment, and then thought of something.

"I've always liked the name Karen. How's that sound?"

The now named Karen grinned a little, and nodded. Kara was then taken aback when Karen hugged her.

"Thank you Supergirl." She happily said.

Kara hugged her back, and smiled.

"My name is Kara, Kara Danvers. Or by my Kryptonian name, Kara Zor-El." Kara said.

Karen give her a curious, and slightly hopeful look." Is that my name as well? Or is my last name Luthor?"

That didn't cross Kara's mind at all, once she and Lena had the time, she was going to talk about that with her.

"Lena Luthor."

Kara got out of her musings when Karen said, and turned around to see Lena, who was smiling a little at the scene.

'Huh, what a coincidence.' Kara quipped in her head.

"I can see bonding with her and Conner has been going well." Lena fondly said.

And she wasn't kidding; the talks between her and Kara showed that Kara was extremely hesitant, and worried about all of this. But she could see the pep talks she gave to Kara; along with the ones she knew Alex and Steve gave her had helped.

Lena sat down next to Kara, and was surprised when Karen hugged her. Lena looked at her once she lets go, and when she saw her eyes, she could see she had the same color has her.

"It's very nice to officially meet you. And I believe I don't need to introduce myself."

"No, Lillian talked about you."

Lena nodded, wondering what her mother had said. She didn't know had happened to her, she did know that Agent Romanoff shot her, and she was pleased by that. Even though with all the things she did, and the rocky relationship she had with her, she never thought about her wanting her dead. But, Kara had told her that her body was missing, after they started cleanup. So there was a possibility she was still alive, and possibly getting cybernetic enhancements like Hank Henshaw.

And that was going to be a fun reunion, if Lillian ever decided to let Lena know she was alive.

"And about Lex as well." Conner said.

Lena faced darkened at the mention of her brother, and reminded herself to pay him a visit in prison, to see what he knew about all of this.

"Well, I know my family is a piece of work. But, I promise I'm much better. And I promise to help look after you two."

Karen had a thoughtful look, and Kara could tell that was the same look Lena had when she was thinking about something.

"Are you together? Does that make you both my… moms?" She said the last part, after thinking about the word.

Both Kara and Lena had matching blushes, and Kara had used her hearing to hear the slight sniggering coming from outside.

"Oh no! No… we aren't together. I don't like girls, I have a boyfriend." Kara managed to say.

"Same, but I'm not currently seeing anyone. And… I'm not sure what our relationship should be. But, we should start off as friends, and see where this goes."

Karen nodded, with a small smile, and Lena's heart went out to her. She then noticed Conner, who looked left out.

Lena took Conner's hand, and he looked at her.

"Well, I guess this technically makes you my nephew. Considering you have half of my brothers DNA in you. How does that sound? Conner, was it?"

Conner looked surprised, but he smiled a little, and said," Sounds good."

Meanwhile, outside the room, the others had been listening in the conversation. Steve was proud of Kara, she seemed like she was going to jump out of her skin or something for the past couple of days, but she pulled through.

He then noticed that Alex had some type of look.

"Are you okay, Alex?" He asked.

Alex giggled a little, and said," I just realized, I think I'm an Aunt. And you, Captain Rogers, have a daughter now."

Steve's eyes widened, while M'gann and Angie snorted in amusement. Winn on the other hand, looked surprised.

"Well uh… I don't think that's the case for this. Let's uh… take things one step at a time." Steve managed to explain.

'Kids… I don't think Kara and I are at the part of our relationship yet. But… there's one sitting in the other room.' Steve thought.

He would have to think about all of this later.

He got out of his musings when he heard footsteps, and saw both Clark and Lois approaching. Like Kara, Clark was in his costume, and like Kara, he looked like he had his reservations, and was experiencing the same feelings as her as well. But, Lois was the one person to talk him into the idea, and be his support.

Lois looked at Clark, and said encouragingly," Remember what we, and what your parents talked about Smallville. Go in there."

Clark gave his girlfriend a thankful look, and took a breath. He gave the others a nod in a quick greeting, and walked into the infirmary. What no one noticed was Angie rubbing her head, as if she was feeling pain.

Clark walked into the infirmary, he saw that both Kara and Lena were talking to their clone, while his clone, and was sitting next to Kara and Lena's. He then cleared his throat, and everyone looked to see him, and both clones' eyes widened in surprise.

"You're Superman." His clone stated in awe.

Clark gave him a small smile, and said," In the flesh."

Kara got up, walked over to her cousin, and gave him a hug.

"Hey, Kal."

"Hey yourself. I take it things are going well?"

"Yeah, things are. Well, I would like you to officially meet Karen and Conner." Kara introduced.

Karen waved at him shyly, while Conner was still looking at him in awe.

Clark walked over to his clone, and sat where Kara sat earlier, and Lena moved out of the way.

"Conner right? I gotta say, that's a good name. my real name is… Clark Kent." Clark said the last part with a pause, due to him needing to take a moment, before revealing his secret. "I know we got off on the wrong foot, but I do know you were forced to do it."

Conner scowled at the last part, and then said," I didn't, nor did Karen wanted to be what Cadmus wanted us to be. We felt, like we wanted to be like you, Supergirl."

Clark nodded; feeling relieved at that statement, and then glanced at Karen, who nodded at what her counterpart said.

Clark smiled at him a little. "That's good. And if you like, I'll mentor you. And also if it's okay with you, you can live with me. And I guess you'll get to meet my girlfriend, and my parents… which I guess are your grandparents."

Conner looked slightly hopeful, and asked," Does that mean you consider me, your son?"

Clark gave him slightly sheepish look, and said, "I will be honest Conner. This is new territory for me, and I know this is new territory for you as well. But we can figure this out together. And yes, I do consider you family."

Clark emphasized it by giving him a hug. Conner was momentarily shocked, but hugged him back.

Kara and Lena smiled at the interaction, and Kara looked at Karen, who had a small smile on her face. Kara placed a hand on Karen's shoulder, and smiled at her.

'I think I can make this work.' Kara thought.

Later, both Kara and Clark were standing outside on the balcony, just staring out into the city, collecting their thoughts on the day.

"So… I guess we can say that was a success." Kara said.

"Yeah, pretty much. I can also safely say that we almost bailed on all of this, and fly in a different direction to get away." Clark said with an embarrassed chuckle.

Kara did the same, and said," Yeah, but, after meeting and talking to them. I can see our preconceived thoughts were wrong. They, want to help people, and they admire us. A far cry from when we were fighting them a couple of days ago."

"Yeah, and I guess we have the others to thank. Lois pretty much lectured me, and when I called Ma and Pa for advice… they said to give him a chance, and take care of him. And also they were excited that they now have a grandson." Clark said with a fond smile.

Kara grinned, and said," I think you got off easy. I pretty much got a lecture from Steve, who used a little bit of his Captain America voice on me. Alex both lectured and guilt tripped me. Eliza, Jeremiah, and Aunt Carol probably gave the same version of the talk you had with the Kent's. I'm also glad Jeremiah's back as well, things will be different, but he said he could help us out with them if needed."

Clark nodded; he was shocked when he found out what had happened to Jeremiah. And was angry at what happened to him, and didn't have any ill feelings towards him for what he did. It was both the circumstances, and Cadmus's doing.

"So, how are you and Lena going to handle this?"

Kara shrugged, and said," Like what you told Conner, take one step at a time. Heh, Karen actually asked if Lena and I were together. But, I think she and I will do a co-parenting type of situation. Steve said he would help as well. That's one of the reasons why I love him, the guy just wants to help."

Clark nodded, but then realized what she just said, and looked at her," What was that?"

Kara bit her lip, and said," Steve and I admitted we love each other last night, and did something else. The details on how we finally admitted it... is a little complicated. I'll explain later."

Clark raised a brow, but didn't push the topic. But he did think of something else, something that he probably should've done before, but it had slipped his mind.

"Y'know, I haven't talked to Steve about your guy's relationship."

Kara rolled her eyes, she knew Steve would never hurt her, but he was already but through the wringer with Alex. Didn't know the exact details of their talk, but Alex had looked satisfied, while Steve looked like he either wanted to stay away from her sister, or had new found respect for her.

"Really? I highly doubt you would want to threaten Captain America."

Clark blinked, rubbed the back of his neck, and said," Why did you phrase it like that? I don't think… I guess he got the message from Alex."

Kara smirked in triumph, knowing using her cousin's admiration, and childhood respect for the World War 2 super soldier would work to her advantage.

Before either could say anything else, they heard a scream from inside. The both of them ran inside and looked at what was happening. From the looks of it, Angie was kneeling while clutching her head, with M'gann and the clones near her.

"Angie, what's wrong?" M'gann asked, concerned.

"I'm fine! I'm… no I'm not."

"Uh, what should we do?" Karen asked, slightly panicked.

Conner furrowed his brows, and said," Is she smoking?"

Angie looked at herself, and saw that her arms was starting emit smoke. She then screamed in pain again, curled into a ball, and she seemed to emit more smoke.

"Everyone get away! Get down!" J'onn roared, and everyone either ran or duck for cover.

M'gann and the clone seemed to be rooted in place. But they soon were flown to the other side of the room, due to the quick thinking of Kara and Clark.

That was a good time to do so, due to Angie letting out one more scream, she then seemed to hover off the ground, and then burst into flames, like a giant fireball.

The whole room was bathed in bright light of the flames, and the temperature of the room went up.

Everyone could only stare in horror, shock, or fascination at the human fireball in the middle of the room.

Meanwhile in the different part of the country, more specifically in the underground level of a certain school. A monitor turned on in one particular room that was used to find new Mutants. And data soon streamed on the console.

"Discovery Mutant Signature Tracking… new Mutant identified in National City. Name: Angelica Jones."

The doors to the room opened, and Charles Xavier rolled into the room. He placed the Cerebro helmet on his head, and closed his eyes. Once he was done, he opened his eyes, and pressed a button.

"Storm, we have a new Mutant. Prep the Blackbird, and try and get in touch with Frost and Miss Souci. We may need them for this."

There you have it folks, the wait is over, Angelica's powers finally manifested. And now she'll be visited by our favorite Mutants. But... not in this story. I'm currently planning and slightly writing a new story that focuses on Angelica meeting the X-Men in this universe, and how she'll control her powers, and being a part of a team.

I already have a working title for it, which is 'A Firestar is Born'. I might keep it, or change it in the future, who knows.

Now onto the clones, yes, Karen is supposed to be my version of Power Girl. And no, she doesn't have big breasts like her comic counterpart, I was never into that, it seemed sexist. And like I said in the previous chapter, Kara and Lena will not get together, this story is Kara and Steve.

And about Conner, as you can tell, the relationship between him and Clark is different than how it originally went in the first season of Young Justice.

I would've added a scene where Steve and Lois met the clones, but I wanted to focus on Kara, Lena, and Clark.

I hope you all liked the chapter, Merry Christmas, and have a Happy New Year.
