Saturday

Percy stood on top of a tall building. It was the middle of the day, and he was bored. Zoë was sure to be at her job interview by now, and he didn't know when it would be over. Maybe it already was, he didn't know.

At least he had the view. Seeing all of the cars and people going about their normal business, it was a feeling that he would never tire of. (Though he will admit it was even better at night.)

The train ran through the city, though it wasn't underground half of the time. He saw it coming through, though something seemed off. It was going faster than it usually seemed to.

Percy jumped off the building and summoned water so he could surf down safely. He landed on the roof of the train. He looked forward to where the train was headed. There was a change in the tracks coming up. A man stood at the track change, and he pushed the lever.

Percy's eyes widened. The man changed the tracks to go down a different track. Except the track they put the train on wasn't finished yet. It was still under construction, as part of a new transportation bill. Percy knew that all this led to one thing.

The people in the train were gonna die if he didn't do something.

Percy jumped off of the train car to get to the leading car. He jumped off the roof and flew through the window. Two men were in there, and one was holding the broken emergency brake. They wore uniforms that said they worked for the subway, but Percy didn't believe it. Also, their stomachs looked weirdly lumpy underneath their shirts.

They looked at Percy. Then at each other. Then they charged at the superhero. Percy brought up his fists and got ready for a fight. The first man came from his right, aiming a punch roughly at Percy's chest. Percy kicked man #1 in the shin, sending him to the ground.

Man #2 came from the left, looking to kick Percy in the balls. Percy didn't let that happen and swept the man off of his feet with a spinning kick. Man #1 was back on his feet and looking hungry for blood.

Percy readied himself as man #1 charged at him. He threw a right hook at the man's face, and the man's entire head came off. The sound was like tape pulled as the head hit the back wall.

Percy looked horrified at the fact that he had just decapitated a guy with his hand. But that wasn't the strangest part. The strangest part was that a voice came from the headless man. "Oi, that wasn't very polite!"

"What the fuuuuuccckkk?" Percy asked freaked the fuck out.

Percy was nearing his limits of weirdness when he heard this, and saw that the belly of the man was moving. The headless man took off the shirt to reveal that he had a face on his chest. He had ears below his armpits, large, bulging eyes where his pectorals should've been, and a large nose protruded from his sternum. Stretched across his abdomen was a curved mouth, lined with teeth that reminded Percy of playing cards. A scythe was tattooed onto his shoulder.

Man #2 moved his arms to his head, then ripped it off and dropped it. Then he also took off his shirt. He also had a face on his torso.

It was safe to say that Percy was way out of his comfort zone. Two men with chest faces were hijacking a subway, and about to kill a bunch of civilians. Sounds like something only someone that belongs in a mental asylum would come up with.

The two men didn't wait for Percy though as they charged again. Percy brought up his hands and punched one in the eye as he came near him.

"AGH!" He said, putting a hand up to his eye.

Percy turned around to face the other no head man, only to get struck in the chest. Percy fell to the ground with a thud. He found it hard to breathe. He must've gotten the wind knocked out of him.

He waited for another inevitable hit, but it never came. He looked up to see the men waiting for him to get up. He staggered to his feet before asking why they hadn't attacked him when he was down.

"It wouldn't be polite." Man #1 said.

"Well, thanks." Percy responded politely. Momma didn't raise an asshole after all.

"You're welcome."

Percy raised his fists as he charged at the men. He blocked a punch from man #1, and kicked the leg of the other. The one that he kicked tried to tackle Percy but he missed. Percy focused on man #1 making eye contact, which was weird.

Then Percy noticed that the window behind man #1 was broken, and it was quite big. He ran at the chest faced man and pushed him. He tumbled out of the window with a "AAAHHH!"

Percy turned to man #2. The man charged at the hero, almost pushing him out of the same window, but Percy was able to grip the broken glass hard enough to stay in the train car.

He was bent over the window, and the glass was digging into his back, cutting him. He hissed as the cuts stung. He looked up at the chest face, before swinging his legs up.

They tumbled out of the window together, and Percy grabbed onto the window's ledge. The broken glass cut his hands. The chest face man held onto Percy's left leg, hanging on for dear life. The man reached up, trying to pull himself up. He grasped Percy's mask and tried to pull himself up. All he did was pull the mask off of his face. Percy kicked him in the eye with his free leg.

"OW!" He said, as Percy kicked him again.

Percy kicked him in the hand this time. The headless man let go, falling onto the ground down below. Percy hoisted himself back into the train car. "It's not polite to touch people without their consent!" He yelled out of the window, before getting serious.

He looked at his bleeding hands. He would also have stitch up his suit later since it was torn from the glass. And clean his hands, since you know, those were bleeding too. And his back was bleeding too. Damn, he had a lot of things to fix. And he had to make a new mask. At least his face wasn't cut. That would have been a bitch to explain to his mom.

His phone laid face down on the floor. He picked it up and saw that a crack spiderwebbed on the screen. He sighed. It probably fell out while he was fighting the men. He should probably add zippers to his pockets, to make sure that it didn't happen again.

He looked back up and realized that he could see they were approaching a bridge. Oh, and would you look at that, it was incomplete and soon he would be in the sea.

And if he was in the sea, he would be fine since he could breathe underwater, but the passengers couldn't.

'THE PASSENGERS!' Percy thought as his eyes shot wide open.

He ran to the door that opened to the space between the train cars. He looked down at the coupling that kept the cars connected. If he could somehow get it undone, then that would leave the lead car going into the sea without bringing the passengers down with it.

He stepped onto the ledge of the other car and bent down. It seemed to be just a simple chain, so if he could just get it over the hook, then he could somehow slow the train.

Thank the Gods he was taking physics this year, otherwise he might've thought that just removing the engine car would stop the remaining cars from moving. And that would've led to deaths galore.

He grabbed the chain and tried to pull it off the hook, but it was too taut. The hook was curved, and he definitely wouldn't be able to get it over. But if he could break the chain. It already had a lot of tension on it, so if he just added more...

He pulled with all of his strength, and he watched the metal link start to bend. He somehow pulled harder, adrenaline adding to his enhanced strength. With a final tug, the chain snapped.

Percy smiled maniacally. 'Holy shit, it actually worked!' He thought.

That was part one down, now onto part two. How the fuck was he gonna slow down the train going at what felt like a hundred miles an hour? He looked at the oncoming sea and got an idea.

Water was good at stopping things that had velocity, like bullets for example. So what if he just used the water to slow it down?

He summoned the water to form a barrier in front of the speeding train. He braced himself for the sudden deceleration that was bound to happen.

The train smashed into the water, slowing down immediately. The force of the impact sent him backwards into the car, smashing straight through the door and into the train car.

The car slowed to a stop, right before the end of the track. The coupling kissed the barrier slightly. Percy looked at it with a crazed smile, before the adrenaline left and exhaustion set in. With one final laugh, he passed out.

The entire train car was silent, until someone asked a question. "Is that Seastorm?"

"He's so... young." Another said. "He can't be out of high school."

"And yet he's risking his life for us." Another said.

The entire car was silent as the truth set in. They were safe because a kid was risking everything. Why did he do it? No one knew. But they couldn't help but wonder. And the police wanted him gone?

A little kid, no older than 5, waddled up to the superhero and poked him. Percy woke up, breathing heavily. "Are you Seastorm?" He asked Percy.

"Uh, I'm not sure on the name." Percy said nervously. "But yeah, I am."

The kid wrapped his arms around him. "Thank you."

Percy grimaced as the kid touched the cuts on his back. "Yeah, no... no problem." He said as he returned the hug hesitantly.

The kid broke out of the hug and ran back to his mother.

Percy realized that he was fucked. All these people had seen him without his mask.

"No one's going to tell." A man said. "Are they?" The last part sounded like a threat.

A woman spoke up. "No. No, we aren't."

Percy smiled slightly as he got up. "Thank you."

He walked over to the broken door, and used his powers to fly away.

All of the passengers watched their savior leave, but one pair of eyes focused on him longer than everyone else's.

The pair that belonged to Zoë Nightshade.

A/N. Whoa, how about that last line huh? Shit's heating up and it's all downhill from here. God, I fucking love the plot I have for this story. And yes, I did take the train idea from Spider-Man 2.

Thanks once again to Zaeng_ for betaing this chapter.
