A/N. *Claps* Time for a review!

"I don't really understand the apple part. Is Atlas the real atlas from pjo or is there something else?

What's the secret Poseidon is saying?" -Adil Mubaraq

Well Adil, the apple was a real golden apple of immortality. As for Atlas, you'll find out next chapter. Not this one sadly, but hey, at least it's soon. Poseidon's secret is this chapter, so there's that.

Anyways, that's our only review, so, CHAPTER TIME!

A Week Later

Percy stared in the mirror as he fiddled with his tie. He undid the knot and started again. Again, he did it wrong. He undid the knot and reset the video on his phone and played it again.

He followed the tutorial on how to tie a tie, and still somehow he did it wrong.

"Goddamn it." He muttered under his breath as he undid the knot for the tenth time that hour.

Zoё came into the bathroom. She watched him struggle to tie his tie for a couple of minutes. "Do you want some help?"

Percy turned to her. "Please."

She came up close to him and started to tie the tie. She tied it perfectly on the first try.

"How? You have to have witchcraft powers to do that."

She patted his cheek. "Of course I do."

Percy breathed in deeply.

"You ready?" She asked.

"As I'll ever be." He decided.

They got into Percy's car, and drove to the funeral home. The universe seemed to have a sense of humor today, since The End was playing on the radio.

Now, come one, come all to this tragic affair

Percy pulled up to the funeral home, parking in the empty parking lot. No one had bothered to show up but them. Percy closed the door behind him as he and Zoё walked into the building.

Wipe off that makeup, what's in is despair

The room was beautiful, and Percy hated it. How dare it be pretty when people were mourning their loved ones. Grand archways, high ceilings, and rows upon rows of pews made him think he was in a church. At the back of the room, where all the pews were facing, was a table. An urn was in the center of it, surrounded with flowers and pictures of the deceased woman.

So throw on the black dress, mix in with the lot

Their footsteps were the only sound in the room, echoing in the massive chamber. It was a massive difference from what a funeral usually was. Only two people, dressed in black, the only ones remaining to mourn Sally Jackson.

You might wake up and notice you're someone you're not

They stared at the table, full of items, with the urn being the centerpiece. The pictures of Percy's mother smiling at the camera brightened the room, despite how much it seemed to want to be in darkness.

"I'm going to go to the bathroom." Zoё whispered in Percy's ear, before leaving the huge room.

Percy shakliy breathed in, wanting to cry, but having no tears. The scent of the sea filled his nose as someone appeared next to him.

"She was a great woman." Poseidon said from Percy's side next to him.

The god had ditched his usual beach attire, settling for a fancy suit. He had his hands in his pockets. His eyes held a look of having actually known Sally. Percy idly noticed that the god was about only an inch taller than him.

"Tell me about it." Percy muttered. He was still staring at the table.

"She was. It pained me to have to leave you both."

There was a second of pure silence, in which you could've heard a pin drop onto carpet.

"What?" Percy asked, his mind distant. Thoughts of what he meant clouded his judgment.

"To leave you. My lover and my son. It hurt, but I had to."

"Are you saying-" Percy was putting pieces of the puzzle together, and he was not liking what was starting to form.

"I am your father, yes."

Percy breathed in and out heavily. "How old was I?"

"Percy-"

"How old. Was I?" He phrased it as two sentences, putting emphasis on every word. He was not playing around.

Poseidon sighed. "Six months."

Percy nodded slowly. "So you knew me for six months, then dipped. Some lover." Lover dripped poison that was so potent it could drive anyone to commit suicide with it's pain.

"I truly did love her."

"And yet you left, and never came back. Not even when she was dying. Something you could've prevented, by the way!" Percy was sounding pissed. He still wasn't looking at the god, keeping his eyes on the altar. He couldn't fathom looking at the sea green eyes, the same ones that had been passed down to him.

"You wanna pin this on me? You could've helped!"

That did it. Finally Percy looked at his father. "I tried. I was there. I watched as I felt the water around me evaporate. I comforted her in her last minutes. You, though? You did nothing. You weren't even there. She died, and you weren't there. I'll say it again. Some lover."

"I couldn't have intervened. The ancient laws-"

"Ancient laws? That's your excuse?! Who gives a shit about the ancient laws?! Who's gonna punish you? Everyone else has faded, remember? Who all is left? Hm?"

"Me, Hestia, and Artemis." Poseidon relented.

"See, no one would have punished you. You didn't do anything. And you want to blame me. A mortal. Or am I a demigod? What else have I been led to believe in my life that was a lie?"

Poseidon said nothing. Percy did the same. They sat in silence, the tension so thick even a knife couldn't cut it. Finally Poseidon pulled something out of his pocket and placed it on the altar.

It was a golden coin. A drachma.

Poseidon turned to leave. "Just know son, I love you."

Percy didn't turn to look at him. "I hate you." His voice supported it. Nothing but hatred left his mouth.

Poseidon looked hurt, not that Percy saw it. He stared at his son for a few moments before leaving quietly.

As soon as his father left, Percy regretted what he said. He wanted to go after him and apologize, but his pride told him to stay put. And he did.

Zoё came back and instantly knew that something was off. Percy was tense, which was unusual to his laidback nature.

"What happened? She asked.

"Met my dad, apparently."

"I assume it didn't go well."

"Basically."

Zoё held his hand.

"You remember I told you that my mom had finished the first draft of her novel?"

"Yeah?"

"I found it. It survived the fire."

"It did?"

"Yeah."

"What are you going to do with it?"

"I'm going to edit it, and then publish it. She'll be remembered by more people than just us."

"That sounds good." Then Zoё noticed the drachmas on the table. "Are those drachmas? May the ferryman carry her soul."

"Yeah." He did a double take. "How do you know?"

"Chiron's class."

"I don't remember him showing us drachmas."

"It might've been that day you were absent."

"Hmm."

They were silent for a few minutes. Percy stood up, turning to Zoё. "You ready to go?"

Zoё stood up, agreeing. They left hand in hand.

LINE BREAK

Night fell on New York, and Percy was about to go on patrol. Zoё had taken some measurements for armor, and apparently she knew a guy who could make it. It wouldn't be too durable, but it would be lightweight, and would still help protect him.

Gabe hadn't been home all day, and Percy was glad. He didn't know that Zoё had been staying over the last week, having basically moved in after she ran away. Percy had helped her move some things in the dead of night the same day he got suspended.

How Gabe hadn't found out, Percy didn't know. Probably had to do with the fact that he was either drunk or asleep most of the time. Percy was pretty much living on his own, besides the few times he would have to defend himself.

Percy kissed Zoё before opening the window and jumping out. He put his mask on as he flew on water throughout the city.

It was a few hours before he found anything. But what he found was a sobbing child in the back of an alleyway. He set down on the ground a few feet away from her. He slowly crept up to her, not wanting to scare her.

"Are you okay?" He asked gently.

The girl looked up. She shook her head.

"What happened?"

The girl just started crying even harder. "My…. my…. My momma… she… she."

Percy seemed to understand. "Is she gone?" He asked, almost unintelligible.

She nodded.

Percy stood still, not knowing how to process this. What was he supposed to do? She didn't mention a father. Did she even have a father, or was she like him, and her father left when she was little?

Percy sat next to her. "What's your name?" He decided on asking, feeling like it was a safe question to ask.

"Elena." She answered timidly.

"Well, Elena, do you have any other family?"

She shook her head.

Percy sighed.

"Where am I going to go?" Elena asked through her tears.

Percy was silent for a moment. "I know a place."

A few minutes later Percy walked through the doors of an adoption center holding Elena in his arms. The woman at the receptionist desk had wide eyes as he walked in.

"You're… you're… you're him! Sea Storm!" She said.

Percy blushed under the mask. "Uh, yeah, yeah."

"I can't believe it! I'm meeting a superhero!"

"Um, yeah. Look, I found this little girl here, Elena, in an alley on East 81st street. I was hoping that you could take her in? She has no family."

The woman shook out of her stupor as she realized that she had a job to do. "Do you know her last name?"

Percy looked at Elena. "What's your last name?"

"Stevens." She said shyly.

The woman typed the name into her computer. "Any other information you know?"

"No. Like I said, I just found her on East 81st."

"Well, I'm sure I can take it from here."

"Thank you."

"Before you leave, can you sign my mug?" The woman asked, holding it up. She handed it to Percy, along with a sharpie.

The mug had a cartoonish picture of him, doing some sort of superhero pose. He didn't know he had merchandise. He took the sharpie and signed "Sea Storm" right next to his foot. "Here you go." He said, handing it back to her.

"Thank you."

"Thank you."

Percy was about to turn around when he saw something on the desk. "What's that?" He asked.

The woman looked down at where he pointed. "These?"

He nodded.

"Emancipation documents. Why?"

"Can I have one?"

"I mean, sure. Don't know why you want one. They are usually for parents." She handed it over anyway.

Percy left the adoption center with an emancipation document, and an idea forming in his head.

LINE BREAK

Percy had just arrived outside his window and was about to open it when he heard some scuffling coming from inside. He opened the window and crawled inside. He stood up to see Gabe and Zoё fighting. Gabe was drunk, and Zoё was very pissed. He wondered what had transpired during his outing.

Gabe had a broken beer bottle in his hand as he swang it at Zoё's head. She ducked under his swig, before punching him in his bulging gut. Gabe stumbled back, looking like he was going to throw up. Zoё stood up, waiting for Gabe to make another move.

The drunk man stood up and charged at the girl again, swinging again. Zoё stepped to the side, before kicking him in the side. Gabe stumbled, tripping over Percy's foot, and bashed his head on the windowsill.

Percy stared in shock at the blood oozing out of Gabe's head. He looked at Zoё, who was looking at it with discontent.

"What happened?" He asked, taking off the mask.

"Guy burst into the room. Says something about 'Who are you and what are you doing in my house' and 'Let me show you what I do to girls who trespass', then he went and tried to pull down his pants. And I don't want to get raped, so I fight the guy off, and now here we are." She said, crossing her arms.

"Okay, well, that is Gabe, and it's whose apartment we're staying in, and now we have a dead body on our hands."

"He tried to rape me!" She defended.

"And you had every right to defend yourself. But right now, I'm focused on the fact. That there is a dead body. In my room. I'm already wanted by the police, and if they find out that there is a dead body here, I'm fucked."

"So obviously we hide it."

"Oh yeah, we'll just hide it." Percy said, sarcastically. "How are you so calm about this?!"

Zoё shrugged. "Guy deserved it. What can I say?" She paused. "I should've castrated him. Pig deserved that too."

Percy took a couple of breaths. "I'm dating a psychopath."

Zoё snorted. "I am perfectly sane."

"You killed a guy and you aren't even phased!"

Zoё stared at him. "You expect me to cry over some guy I don't know, and one who tried to assault me?"

"No, I just expected more shock that you just KILLED SOMEONE!"

"I'm sorry, but death just doesn't phase me."

"Okay, so where do we hide it?"

"Easy, we dump it in the ocean. You can use the water to move it to a deeper part of the ocean, where it will decay quicker."

LINE BREAK

Percy and Zoё walked back into the apartment. Their body hiding went well. No one saw them, and once they were in the ocean, they were pretty much home free. When they were done, they came back to shore at a beach, making it look like they were a couple out for a nightly beach stroll.

They even walked on the beach for a little bit, taking Percy's mind off of everything. Things like, where was he going to live, and what happens if the police find the body? Well, he kind of had an idea for the first question.

They visited a grocery store and bought some cleaning supplies. Well, and a gingerbread house. Christmas was about two weeks away, and they figured they should get something to get into the Christmas spirit.

When they got back to the apartment, they did some cleaning. Since Gabe was gone, whatever was cleaned, would stay clean. They picked up beer bottles, cigars, and trash. They sprayed some air freshener all throughout the apartment.

When they were finished, they put the gingerbread house together. It was a disaster, but it was fun. Zoё had ended up with some frosting on her cheek. Percy had no idea how it got there in the first place, but he was sure to wipe it off.

Zoё tried to put together the walls, and it was staying up, before Percy spoke up. "Zoё, I think it's backwards."

She looked at it again. "FUCK!" She said, before knocking it over.

Percy laughed, before putting some frosting on his finger and booping her nose. He laughed as she mockingly pushed him, but in the end she left it there.

Eventually they got the gingerbread house built and had to clean up all the candy they didn't use.

"God this is annoying." Percy said as he swept up sugar candy lights. His broom would just keep going over one and wouldn't catch it.

"Well if SOMEONE didn't drop the bowl." Zoё said.

"I didn't drop it!"

"Percy, I watched you!"

"I swear, it wasn't me!"

"Swear on what?"

"My dad." Percy said.

It was at that instant that he glowed sea green. His aura bathed the walls in color. The lights flickered, before turning off. The only light was the sea green emanating from his body. He started to float into the air, the glowing growing brighter.

Voices speaking in sync filled the room. "The old God is dead! The new God has been chosen! Rise, Percy Jackson, join the Gods as the new God of the Sea, Water, Horses, and Earthquakes."

"-Hope and-" One voice kept going.

"Shut up! He doesn't know that yet!" Another chastised.

"Sorry, sorry."

"Back to the chant."

"ALL HAIL PERCY JACKSON! TAKE YOUR PLACE AMONG THE NEW GODS!"

Percy floated back to the ground, wearing a sea green chiton, and a golden trident in his hand. A laurel of golden leaves adorned his head, and his eyes glowed with newfound power. A shield hung on his left arm.

The light died down, and Percy stood, breathing heavy.

'Zoё Nightshade. We will be seeing you soon.' The voices said in her mind.

Percy stared at the trident in his hand. It was the trident of Poseidon. And now it was his. Which meant one thing.

Poseidon had faded, and now Percy was a god.

LINE BREAK

In a forest on Long Island sat the council of New Gods. 12 seats sat in a U shape, with a hearth in the middle. Engraved on each seat was a symbol, representing the God that sat there. Almost every symbol was glowing, besides three.

The Wave, the Moon, and the Hearth.

Until now. The Wave started to glow sea green.

One individual was in the room when it happened. A middle aged man in a wheelchair.

"By the Gods." He muttered.

He thought he knew who possessed the blessing of the Sea God, but he had no way of confirming it. The student he had been keeping an eye on. One of the two.

He rolled his wheelchair out of the room. He had to get ready for the last week of class before winter break.

A/N. Okay, so the last set up chapter is done. Next will be the final battle chapter, then the ending. So two chapters left. I bet all the fans of RotDA are happy since that means I'll focus on that next.

Remember I said in chapter one that Percy was a mortal? You see, I was using an advanced technique called LYING. Ha, and none of you saw through it. But for real, I said that before I had a super clear plan for the story, and I changed that. That's kind of the downside to posting a story chapter by chapter. If I want to change something or add a subplot, unless it's early in the story, I can't. Like, in PtDA, I wanted to add a little subplot of the demons not respecting Zoё, but by that point I was at like, chapter 47. But yeah, stuff changes. So if anyone didn't like that I ended up lying, I say, "Who's the author? Me, or you? It's me, right."

I've been toying with the idea of a songfic, and this was kind of my dipping a toe in the pond. Kinda seeing how I liked it. Of course, I used a My Chem song, but that's because I don't know many songs about funerals. Not my jam typically.

Also, don't think I forgot about that military school application Gabe got. It's a loaded Checkov's gun, and it's about to be fired soon. I've learned since We Are Venom guys.

Also, are you guys enjoying these longer chapters? I think I am, but I would like to know you're opinions.

Thank you once again to Zaeng_. You guys know the routine. Credit where credit is due.

Thoughts?
