Here is the next chapter. For future reference Tom Senior is Tom Riddle and Tom Junior is Harry Potter. Please read and review thanks, love Angel x
Fred and George were disgusted. Why had they never been told that their grandmother Weasley was a Slytherin member? She was still alive and they spoke with her regularly. In fact all of her grandchildren did. Had she been asked not to tell them this by Arthur and Molly? When they were being sorted the hat had told them they'd make fine Slytherins which made no sense until now. They decided to write to her and ask her about it. Why had their mother been so against it as a house? All houses had contained evil members I mean surely she knew that. It was in several books after all I mean all one would need to do is read it. They took out their supplies and began writing.
Dear Granny,
Things with us in school are going well and we've been getting good marks in all of our classes. Just because we don't share this with Percy he automatically assumes we're doing badly and we let him tell other people that because his face when he eventually learns he's wrong will be priceless and we are all for embarrassing him. He's been a bit of a nightmare recently. He became a prefect and whilst we're so proud of him as it's a great achievement we don't actually feel he truly deserves it because he keeps lording it over everyone and snaps at anyone who needs his help. Maybe you could write to him about it? I think he could do with your assistance. If I remember correctly you were a prefect yourself. We need to ask you something which might be difficult and we apologise in advance if it is but why were we never told you were in Slytherin and one of its best members?
Professor Snape the current head of Slytherin said his predecessor told him you were one of the best Slytherin members. When Fred and I were being sorting the hat said we'd have made fine Slytherins and it terrified us so we begged it for Gryffindor and as you can see it complied. Why does mum always speak so highly of you and so badly of Slytherin? We know you both get on really well so we don't actually understand. Can you please help us to understand because she loves you but quite literally thinks Slytherin is evil? We know this because she always says it. Dad always looks around awkwardly when she says it and can't look any of us in the eye. Forgive me for saying this but I somehow don't think it has anything to do with you being a Slytherin member and more so the house itself. Did something happen? We love you so very much and you should know we're not stupid like Percy. Our opinion of you would never change despite what house you were in. Can we ask you for an early Christmas gift? It's just that Errol sucks and we'd love an owl of our own. One for just Fred and I. You could choose the owl yourself and I'm sure you'd have the best taste.
Love as always your handsome grandsons,
Fred and George.
They attached it to a school owl and sent it off to her afraid that Errol might get it wrong as he was prone to doing. Cedrella was at home when the letter reached her and she smiled brightly. She so loved hearing from her grandsons. They were always so much fun and not so uptight. She read the letter her smile fading somewhat. She took out her supplies and penned her response at once.
My darlings,
Thank you for your letter. I really appreciate hearing from you. You are not so boring and stiff and you always brighten my day. I'm probably not supposed to say that but screw it. Before I married my darling Septimus I was a Black member. I learned just recently that my father had lied about kicking me from the family to appease his other family members. Having said this it does mean I have been left with considerable more money then I know what to do with. I will be insisting on getting my favourite grandsons wands of their own and two pets. You do know how to let your hair down and have the most fun after all. You may have one owl and one cat. I will not take no for an answer either. If you tell anyone I called you my favourite grandsons they won't find the bodies! See Granny knows how to have fun too.
Unfortunately I must tell you something very hard indeed. I must ask for you apologies in advance but you were not told because we all wished to protect you. When Molly and Artie were in school the dark lord first rose to power. He instructed all members of Slytherin to try to convert purebloods everywhere to his way of thinking using any means possible. When your darling mother was approached she outright refused to become dark and was essentially attacked a lot by a group of Slytherin death eaters for saying no repeatedly so to her Slytherin is evil. I have no real idea what they did to her just that it was vile in every way. Suffice it to say those evil bastards are now dead which is more then they deserve. I will not stand for anyone in Slytherin aiding in making that prestigious house looking evil when it doesn't need to. Yes it has had evil members but so has every other house. Please try not to judge your mother for her hatred. I sure don't as it really is justified even though it should have been solely aimed at those people and not the house but she could never see reason where that was concerned.
I was not aware that anyone would tell you about my being in Slytherin. To be honest I love my old house and I am indeed very proud to have been a member of it I'm just very disgusted at what those cowards did. They do not define my house despite what Molly says and I will not stand for anyone saying that they do. In truth about ninety to ninety percent of Slytherins are good and honest people like me. Whether we like it or not all houses have some bad apples and that is something we're going to have to face. Yes it's not easy to do but mature and sensible people do it often. I would ask you to simply understand what I said about your mother and only ask her about it if you feel you must. Whatever those animals did to her was harsh. I think they may have used the crutiatus curse on her a few times although this is a guess and I'm not all that sure it's right. I have learned that Tom Potter is in Slytherin house and I am delighted he is. I have also learned that Albus Dumbledore has asked Ronald to try to befriend him no matter what although I am not sure as to what his endgame here is. Ronald has written to me explaining that he cannot do it and even told me he told the headmaster this. Should you wish to befriend Tom Potter yourself you are to do so on your own terms only. Do not do anything simply because the headmaster may ask it of you.
I have always believed when someone, anyone, holds as many important positions as he does it can go to one's head and make them think they are either always right or above help. Just remember that if anyone anywhere should ask you to do something for them always ask yourselves why and what they would gain from doing so. Yes you would have made great Slytherin members and that is nothing to scowl at no matter who should tell you it is. Quite frankly I am disgusted you went through such unnecessary anxiety about your sorting. I am sorry I did not talk to you sooner. I am also sorry I let Molly's awful experience cloud her judgement so much. I will talk with her about this and I will do all I can to get her to see such things in a better light. You should do as you feel without needing to feel in any way bad about it. She should not have aided in your anxiety. We are wrong and although it takes great courage to admit to you are wrong sometimes it's worth it. Percival could do with learning this. I was indeed a prefect and will be speaking with him about his behaviour. I have many friends in many places and believe it or not know already how badly he was doing. I am bitterly disappointed in him and Minerva McGonagall. Having this position is prestigious and she had no right to give it to him when she could not be sure he wasn't helping others.
I know Percival doesn't have much of a life outside his studies but he needs to become a better person or he'll end up alone which I don't want for him. I'll be writing to Professor McGonagall about him and telling her she needs to make better informed decisions. She was prefect with me in our school days and always did an excellent job. She knows what it takes which is why I'm annoyed she chose Percival. He thinks only about his own studies and that's not a good prefect quality. Look after yourselves and your younger brother boys. Help Ronald to understand how important studying is for the future and that it is also important that he doesn't end up like Percival as we don't want that either. I know all about your great grades and I am very delighted with your progress. Well done boys. I love you always. I will call by on Saturday to collect you and Ronald. He should have a wand of his own as well. I also know that Percy got a pet for becoming a prefect which is not only unfair to the rest of you but silly as well as you could have all done with new wands. Continue to get great grades and I will see you on Saturday boys.
Love Granny Weasley.
She mailed her response to them forthwith and they got it reading it with enthusiasm. They were thrilled by it. They would think about asking their mum about what happened to her but then again they may not. It didn't sound very good and they weren't sure they wanted to know about it. They would try to become friends with Tom because they wanted to and not because anyone else said so. It had been an interesting morning for the Weasley twins.
