My muse declared this story would be written. He would not leave me alone until I wrote it. It is sort of a prologue to An Aha Moment for Rhett but in truth I think it is too long to be a prologue. There are three chapters to this story

During Scarlett's wedding to Charles at Tara, Melanie has a conversation with Ellen.

This is the companion piece to my story Wife or Mistress it's in Rhett's point of view during that story.

Rhett has an encounter with a spirit when he wakes up the morning after Ashley's surprise birthday party.

Scarlett will stop at nothing to get her husband back. Even if it means seducing him, or wearing that see-through chemise.

Post Rhett's speech at the end of the book when he leaves her. Scarlett gets woke. Will be rather off-canon because let's face it, things have to change if they're gonna get better. OC, OOC, AU kinda.

Scarlett wakes up expecting another dreary day under siege in Atlanta but instead finds herself in Charleston in the year 1847, where an ill-famed Captain Butler was not yet so ill-famed, nor a Captain. As she begins to question their seemingly intertwined fates, she realizes she feels something she once dared never to say.

Scarlett falls out of love with Ashley the day of the barbecue. She is intrigued by a handsome stranger from Charleston although she is sure she will never meet him again. She ends up married to Charles Hamilton nonetheless.

What if Scarlett had never been in love with Ashley? Haven't we all wished for a simpler romance? But nothing is ever simple - or easy - for Rhett and Scarlett. A "what if" retelling of the movie/book.

What if Ashley couldn't tolerate his hypocrisy any longer, and, in an impassioned speech, told Scarlett he didn't love her? What would happen if Scarlett knew sooner? Would Scarlett see Ashley, and by extension, society, for what it is?

What if Scarlett was Rhett's equal in intelligence? What if she was Melly's friend instead of Ashley's? Scarlett had already grabbed Rhett's attention before the library scene that fateful day. What if instead of her temper, it was her ability to see through the charm of Rhett Butler, that solidified his interest in her? Ch.1 has been extended!

What if Scarlett had a twin sister. How would Scarlett's life change with a sister by her side to guide her? Will Rhett still believe Scarlett is the only one for him? "She didn't need a man to make her happy. At least, that was what she had believed, before she met Rhett Butler."
