"A work study program? You wish to learn more about the glamorous world of hero work?"

"Well - I - I was calling, Miss Uwabami, because -"

"Unfortunately I have not yet been approved by your UA high to act as a work study mentor. I am sorry; your commercial with Miss Kendo has been doing quite well."

I breathed a little sigh of relief. While I wished to have a work study, I was not quite desperate enough to return to Miss Uwabami, deep down. I had been told before calling that she was not approved, but there was always the chance that I would get her hopes up.

"I am truly sorry, Miss Uwabami, not to have the chance to learn from you again. But if you cannot take me on yourself, are there any other pros you could refer me to that might be willing?"

"Hmm…I'm afraid I cannot. Miss Kendo called in asking for the same thing already, and I can give you at least the same suggestion I gave to her."

Kendo had? "Yes?"

"Try asking your professors at UA. They are all pro heroes, aren't they? They should know a few names you could reach out to. Not quite as fabulous as mine, of course, but with some potential. I can even recommend you to them if you'd like."

"Why, thank you! I truly am grateful for this opportunity, Miss Uwabami. I won't forget it!"

"Well, that is a bit excessive. But I do deserve it! Perhaps you could reach out to Miss Midnight? I believe she's a teacher at UA. She would know the right kind of match for someone you like!"

I wasn't sure how to take that, but I did respect Miss Midnight as a Pro despite her rather strange persona. And what did I have to lose?

Miss Midnight, the pro hero, our teacher in hero history and sexual education. I had taken many classes from her, but we had yet to make a real connection. Still, I had the impression she found me impressive as a student.

"What youthful energy! You wish to go beyond, plus ultra, and become an experienced pro hero! The young will truly be our answer to the future of this country, with all your vigor and hard work! Oooh!" and she was holding her arms and smiling to the sky.

"Erm, yes, ma'am. Are there pro heroes you can recommend me to?"

"Well, that's a difficult question. What sort of pro hero are you hoping to become? Who do you wish to intern with? What sort of job are you hoping to attain?"

I thought about that for a moment. "I wish to gain more practical battlefield experience. I want to figure out, in some ways, what kind of hero I wish to present myself as. I need to spend more time actually doing the daily work of heroism. I know a great deal theoretically, but my knowledge of the practical daily grind of the job is limited. I need to work with a pro who will offer me the chance to learn on the ground."

Miss Midnight listened to me, and then smiled slowly. "Well, I can certainly think of someone. Allow me to give you some advice beforehand. Firstly, we are living in unprecedented times. I hope you know that. The villain activity lately has been extreme. There is always risk involved in work studies, but UA is doing its best to support the students who wish to try. Secondly, you will need to make sure you don't slack off on your normal school training either. Don't forget you have yet to perfect your Ultimate move. Finally, I can only recommend you. It's up to you to impress the pro hero you choose. Understand, Creati? You'll have to sell yourself. You can't let self-doubt get in the way, or the pro you're speaking to will sense that you don't believe in your own capabilities. Can you do that?"

I thought back to the last time I'd truly doubted myself - after the Sports Festival. I recalled how I'd behaved around Miss Uwabami - so desperate, so hopeelessly grateful. And then those words from Todoroki, which had changed everything for me. This is your moment. I nodded. "Understood, sensei. I truly believe that I ca contribute a great deal to any pro hero agency. I know that I am quite capable. I want to use those capabilities to benefit others."

"Such youthful enthusiasm, I adore it! Well then, let's get ready, Miss Yaoyorozu. I actually have someone in mind you may be interested in. But you'll be in competition with another UA student for the position. It will be quite competitive. Are you prepared for that?"

I swallowed a little. The word competition always made me a little nervous now.

"Allow me to call her here, and we'll discuss this."

The other UA student I was in competition with was none other than Miss Sestuna Towage of Class 1B.

One of the four students who had made it into UA based on special recommendations. I remembered her from the Entrance Exam, and from the few times we'd interacted with Class 1B. She'd been on Kendo's team during the Sports Festival. I wasn't quite sure what her quirk was, but i knew her.

She had green hair, the angular eyes and spiked teeth of a lizard, and was tall and athletic, oozing confidence from every pore, with a rather sinister smile.

"Well well, Class 1A's Momo Yaoyorozu. It's been a while. Congratulations on the license."

"Thank you…"

"And Miss Midnight Sensei. Looking impressive as always. So, how come you've called us together?"

"You are both looking for work study opportunities, and you have both asked me for similar qualities in the pro you wanted me to recommend you to. And I have just the hero in mind. Ever heard of the Magic Hero, Majestic?"

I was stumped. I suddenly wished I had Midoriya around to ask. Tokage and I exchanged a look. She'd never heard of him either. That was a relief.

"Well, he is not as well known as perhaps he should be. But he is one of the most capable and strategic pro heroes you will ever encounter. And I am pointing you both towards him as potential interns."

"Thank you, Miss Midnight!"

"That's excellent, sensei!"

"Now, remember, you must impress him yourselves. I can only suggest that you speak with him. It's up to you to interest him. Majestic is a proud and powerful pro hero. He cares deeply for saving the lives of innocents. He is not a pro hero dedicated to flash or fame, but a tireless and hard working pro who lives and breaths in the field. An unsung hero, rather like our own Eraserhead. He involves himself in saving lives and helping those in trouble, and his investigations process works closely with the police. He is a detective as much as a pro hero, searching for answers and solving mysteries. You both bring intellect, I know, intellect and special recommendations, to the table, which is why I thought to recommend you to him. But I would also like you to think for a moment. Tell me about yourselves. You first, Creati. What type of hero do you help to become?"

Such a powerful question. I have thought of it before….what type of hero do I wish to be? Every young hero must ask themselves that.

Back at the beginning, I suppose I simply assumed I would be a hero, because it was what my parents wanted. Mother and father, saw my quirk and told me I would be a great pro hero undoubtedly. After all these experiences though - I can't want it for that reason. I must not simply be a hero because I hope to gain approval, because my parents want it, or because my good grades tell me I would make a good one. No, there is so much more to this job than simply doing well in class. "I want to be the kind of hero who brings hope to those in danger. I want those in trouble to look to me and see someone who brings them hope in their darkest hours. And I want to ensure that villains cannot ever - ever - take that hope away from them again."

The room was silent for a moment. Then Tokage said, "Damn. That's pretty good. Well, I'd say I want to be the type of hero who brings reassurance to other heroes. When they see me, they think 'Hey, we're gonna be ok. Lizardy's here. She'll know what to do."

I smiled at her. "That's quite good as a statement too!"

"Indeed," smiled Miss Midnight. "Both of those attitudes are needed in our world today. I will reach out to Majestic and let him know that he can expect you two this weekend at his agency."

I nodded. I had a few days. In the meantime - I would have to prepare and learn what I could about this strange new hero.
