Chapter 21: Necromancing the Stone
Piper and Buffy are finishing up on the touches needed for Wyatt's wiccaning as Buffy walked into the attic and smiled, "Okay, you ready?"
"You summon, I will vanquish." Piper said as she picked up a vial of potion.
"Demons who dwell in slivers of night, uncloak your shadows to witch's sight." Buffy chanted.
A gust of wind blew through the attic and a very large demon with a creepy face and wearing a black cloak appeared.
Piper threw the potion at the demon and it burst into flames and was vanquished. "Ugh. Creepers, check."
"That's the last one," Buffy said.
Piper nodded, "Yeah. All that is pretty much left is summoning Grams. The question is are you ready?"
Buffy sighed, "I don't know. I don't even know why I put off telling her this long that I was alive. I wonder if she'll be mad."
Later Sam, Buffy and Leo were in the living room watching Piper as she placed lit candles on the floor in a circle.
"So you think the green outfit is cute? Because I can have them put them in the one with the clouds on it." Piper said.
Leo sighed, "Their her great grandchildren. I don't think she's going to care what their wearing."
Piper nodded, "Yeah, but she's not coming as a great grandmother. She's coming in an official capacity as the matriarch of our family."
"Well, she's not going to come at all unless we summon her." Leo said.
Sam looked at his girlfriend. "How are you doing?" he asked Buffy. "Nervous?"
Buffy nodded, "Like you wouldn't believe."
Piper finished placing the candles and stepped aside. "Okay. 'Here these words, hear my cry, spirit from the other side, come to me, I summon thee, cross now the great divide.'"
Colorful lights swirl inside the candle circle and then Grams appeared.
"Well, it's about time, Piper. What took you so long?" Grams said.
"Hello to you too, Grams." Piper said.
"Oh, I'm sorry, I'm just so excited." Grams stepped out of the circle and became corporeal. She hugged her granddaughter. "How are you, my dear?"
"Excited too." Piper said.
Leo smiled, "Hi, Grams."
"Leo. So, where's the little ones?" Grams asked.
"Uhm first there is someone who would like to say hello." Piper said motioning towards Buffy.
"Sam," Grams said as she saw Sam standing next to Buffy."
"Hello, Penny," Sam said. "But I am not the one Piper was talking about."
"Hello, Mom." Buffy said.
Grams frowned as she looked at Buffy and then at Piper. "Is this a joke?"
Piper shook her head, "No, Grams, it's not. Do you know why you never saw Mom up there?"
Grams shook her head, "No, do you know why?"
"She was reincarnated," Sam said.
Grams eyes went wide as she looked at Buffy, "Patty?"
Buffy nodded, "Yes, Mom."
"But how?" Grams asked.
"How do I have my memories and my powers?" Buffy asked as Grams nodded. "When I died I was offered a choice to either join you up there or to continue the fight for the greater good. I chose to continue and was reborn as Buffy Summers, the future Slayer. The Elders knew there would be a chance that I could be summoned by the girls so they placed a spell on me that would activate anytime I was summoned by them. They wove in my original DNA as Patty into my DNA as Buffy so that I would have access to my powers and they gave me as part of the spell my memories. A year ago a friend of mine cast a spell thinking she was helping me work through some stuff I was going through. It had a small side-effect. It permanently unlocked my memories and powers."
Grams looked to Buffy for a moment before pulling the young woman into an embrace. "It's good to see you, Patty."
"Buffy," Dawn said from the doorway to the living room.
Buffy motioned for Dawn to join her, "Mom, this is my sister, Dawn. Dawn this is my mother, Penny Halliwell."
Dawn smiled, "Hi, Mrs. Halliwell."
"Hell,o Dawn." Grams said. "So Patty does Dawn here have powers also?"
Buffy nodded. "She inherited Prue's power of telekinesis."
"How?" Grams asked. She understood how Buffy could have powers but how could Dawn have a Warren power?
"A couple years ago." Dawn started. "I didn't exist. I was created by some monks to hide this Key that opens the doorway between dimensions. They sent me to Buffy to protect as her sister. To create a connection between us they used Buffy's blood in my creation. And from what we understand the Warren powers are in the blood, right?"
Grams nodded. "That they are. So are we having your wiccaning today also?"
"We never discussed it, Mom. While she has a little of my DNA as Patty since she has Prue's power. She is not a Halliwell." Buffy said.
Grams shook her head, "Nonsense, Patty. Per yours and her stories you both have Warren powers. That makes you both Halliwells."
Buffy looked to Dawn. "Then it's up to you, Dawnie."
Dawn smiled at Grams. "I would be honored Mrs. Halliwell."
"Please call me, Mom." Grams said. "And before you object you can ask Paige how I was unrelenting that she call me Grams."
Dawn nodded. "Ok. Give me time though, please? I had a mother and calling someone else that… I mean I understand why Buffy does it because in her past life you were her mother."
"I understand." Grams said as Phoebe and Paige came downstairs with Wyatt and Elizabeth.
Piper smiled, "And behind you are your great grandchildren." Grams, Buffy, Dawn, Sam and Leo turned around to face Paige, Phoebe, Wyatt and Elizabeth. "Grams, meet the next generation of Halliwell." She motioned first to Paige and Elizabeth and then Phoebe and Wyatt. "Baby Elizabeth and Baby Wyatt."
"Wyatt? That's a silly name for a girl, isn't it?" Grams said. "Patty how could you let them name a girl, Wyatt."
"Mom," Buffy said. "Wyatt is a boy. Piper had fraternal twins."
"What?" Grams asked.
"You didn't know?" Paige asked.
"Well, no, I-I mean I just assumed it was a... What went wrong?" Grams said.
"Wrong?" Buffy and Leo asked.
"Oh-oh, well, I don't mean wrong, wrong. It's just that we've always had girls," Grams said.
"Now we have a boy." Piper said.
"Right. Well, um, okay, well, we've got a lot of work to do before I perform the wiccaning." Grams said.
"Work? What work?" Piper asked looking at Buffy who shrugged.
"Are you kidding? I'm going to be calling every matriarch in our family since the witch trials and we've got to make sure the manor is safe." Grams said.
"Mom, we've got that covered. Every demon that could attack their spirits has been taken out. The zombies, the rigors, the creepers." Buffy said. "We're all set."
"What about the Necromancer?" Grams asked.
"Mom," Buffy started as Phoebe interrupted.
"Okay, you guys discuss this. I have to pop by the airport and pick up my friend Jason." Phoebe said as she hugged Grams.
"Who's Jason?" Grams asked.
Phoebe smiled, "Just a guy, Grams. Don't start the wiccaning without me. Be right back." She handed Wyatt to Leo as before she headed for the front door.
"Actually, I have to check on my man too." Paige said as she gave Elizabeth to Dawn. She kissed Gram on the cheek then she orbed out.
"You know, they'd be better off with a dog. More loyal and they die sooner." Grams said.
"Mom!" Buffy said.
"Excuse me?" Leo and Sam said.
"Oh..." Grams chuckled. "Don't mind me. You know, I never have very much luck with men."
"Mom, you've been married four times." Buffy said.
Grams nodded, "Exactly. And let's see how many relationships have you had, Patty?"
"As many as you've been married. Victor, Sam, Angel and Riley. Two as Patty and three as Buffy." Buffy said,
"That's five," Grams said.
"I'm dating, Sam," Buffy said. "So technically he's counted twice. Once for each life time."
"Can we get back to this, uh, Necromancer?" Piper asked.
"Yeah," Buffy said. "You vanquished him at my wiccaning."
"It wasn't a vanquish," Grams said, "because the Necromancer is not a demon. He's a ghost of a demon. I banished him back into the spirit realm."
"Well, then you should be a little more specific in your wording." Piper said as they headed up the stairs to the attic.
Sam looked at Leo and Dawn who still held the twins. "I have to admit I never missed Penny and her hatred of men."
"I don't think she really hates men," Leo said. "I think Allen's death affected her more than she cares to admit."
"You knew her when she was younger?" Dawn asked.
"Yes," Leo said. "She and I crossed paths in the sixties a couple times."

In the attic Piper was looking in the book of shadows as Grams continued her speech on the Necromancer. "He's had about seventy years to find a way out of the spirit realm and that man, that demon is nothing, if not confident," Grams said.
Buffy sighed, "Mom, are you sure about this?"
"Yes I am, Patty." Grams said.
Piper sighed, "Well, I guess I'll take your word for it considering you seem to know so much about him," Piper said as she read the page on the Necromancer. "'Enjoys Clark Gable movies', 'Favorite dinner: Lamb chops with mint jelly'."
"Well, you know me," Grams said. "You never know what could be useful."
"So what do you suggest? That we go to the video store and you get cooking?" Piper wondered.
"Oh, don't be so literal, Piper." Grams said. "I was just trying to show how much he craves life, the sensuousness of it. Food, drink, sex..."
"Don't! I don't want to hear about a dead demon doing the dirty." Piper said.
"He wants to be resurrected," Grams said.
"It says that he has dominion over the dead. You would think that would be enough," Piper said.
Buffy shook her head, "Not likely."
Grams nodded, "Patty is right, not for him it isn't. He only uses his power over the dead to absorb their spirit and get a temporary fix of life. But he was always searching for magical spirits with enough power to resurrect himself for good."
"Like all the spirits of the Halliwell matriarchs." Piper said.
Grams nodded as she looked at Buffy, "That's why he attacked at your wiccaning." She looked to Piper. "Now you see why I'm so worried."
"Okay, so if he's out, we'll send him packing back to the spirit realm because nothing is going to get in the way of Elizabeth, Wyatt and Dawn's wiccanings." Buffy said.
Grams nodded, "Good, and I know just the potion to use on him too," She walked over to the potion table. "See we'll need some, oh, dragon root, uh, eel skin, bloodwort. You know, Piper, I'm still surprised that you had a boy."
"What are you talking about, Mom?" Buffy asked.
"Three hundred years and not a male in the bunch," Grams said.
"I guess our family's changing." Piper said. "After all as far as I know, none of our family has ever had twins either."
Grams nodded, "Mm. I mean, it begs a few questions, don't you think? I mean, we've never had a male witch and, you know, men are just so..."
"They're just evil, that's what they are," Paige said as she stormed into the attic followed by Dawn. "They are just plain evil."
"Oh sweetie, I take it Nate wasn't too happy about you being a witch." Buffy said.
"Oh, Nate was fine with my being a witch. It's maybe his wife that would have had a problem." Paige said.
"He's married?" Piper and Buffy said shocked at the revelation.
Paige nodded, "Yeah, with two kids."
"Oh, sweetie, I'm so sorry." Buffy said, hugging Paige.
"I told you, she should've gotten a dog." Grams said as Buffy glared at her.
"What did you do when you found out?" Piper asked.
"Plenty. I mean, I'm sure plenty will happen to him, karmically speaking. Cheat." Paige said.
Grams smiled, "Well, there's no wrath like a witch scorned, I always say. Care to take it out on him?" She showed Paige the picture of the Necromancer in the book.

In the Necromancer's Catacombs, the Necromancer was lying on a crypt. "What measly crumbs have you brought me this time?" he asked thinking it was a demon bringing him a spirit to feed on.
"Nothing you're going to like," Grams said.
The Necromancer turned to see Buffy, Dawn, Piper, Paige and Grams standing in the room. He quickly stood up. "Penny!" he said surprised to see Grams.
"Penny?" Piper and Buffy said.
Grams using her power sent him flying across the room. He landed on some large vases. "What are you waiting for? Throw the damn potion," she said as Dawn threw the potion at him and he burst into flames and was vanquished. She turned to the girls. "What?"

Later back at the Manor in Piper's room. "Wait, so he called her by her name?" Phoebe asked.
Piper nodded, "Penny. Yeah. Kind of weird, huh?"
"Yeah, and he acted like he liked her." Paige said.
"Twim-gee. That's Chinese for excuse me." Phoebe said.
"Fascinating." Dawn said.
Phoebe nodded, "Did you guys vanquish him?"
"No, he's already dead, he can't be vanquished." Dawn said.
"But we did send his sorry male ass back to the spirit realm." Paige said.
"Okay, let's not jump on Mom's male bashing bandwagon, please." Buffy said.
"Grams is a wise woman." Paige said.
Piper sighed and looked to Buffy, "I'll be sure to let Wyatt know."
"Don't worry, we're not going to let him grow up to be a slime bag." Paige said.
Piper nodded, "Great, so let's focus on blessing him in light and goodness. Okay, we don't got a lot of time." She motioned to the shoes she had lined out on her bed. There was two sets of boys and two sets of girls shoes. "Now white or patent leather."
"White is traditional for a wiccaning. You should have seen me in my wiccaning outfit. I was adorable. I wonder if mom saved a picture." Buffy said.
"So I have to wear a white dress?" Dawn asked as Buffy nodded.
"It's traditional," Buffy said.
"Bok! That's white." Phoebe said.
"Okay, what is with the Chinese thing?" Paige asked.
"It's a little souvenir that Jason brought me back from China, when he was there on his business trip." Phoebe said.
Paige nodded, "Oh! Business trip, yeah, business trip. A likely story."
Phoebe frowned, "What is that supposed to mean?"
"I'm just saying. He could be leading a double life, he could be married, he could have a mistress, he could be gay. You don't know, there are many variables." Paige said as the phone rang.
"Or he could be perfect for me." Phoebe said.
"Don't be so sure. Men are full of surprises, that's all." Paige said.
"Funny you should mention surprises because, uh, he had a little surprise for me." Phoebe said.
Leo walked in carrying Wyatt. "Paige? Darryl's on the phone, he's pretty pissed. Something about your boyfriend?"
"He's not my boyfriend; he's my ex-boyfriend." Paige leaves the room.
"What are you doing with Wyatt? I thought Grams was going to spend some time with him and Elizabeth" Piper said.
"Well Elizabeth she is," Leo said. "Wyatt, well, she didn't want to."
Piper laughed. "What? That's ridiculous."
"I have to agree." Buffy said.
"Really? Then why didn't she want to touch him or change him or feed him?" Leo asked.
"This makes no sense," Piper said. "Why would she spend time with one grandchild but not the other."
"Grams doesn't like the fact that Wyatt's a boy and she makes no bones about it," Leo said with a sigh.

Downstairs Grams was holding Elizabeth as Buffy and Piper walked down the stairs.
"Grams?" Piper said.
"Oh! Piper, Patty, you both scared me." Grams said.
"Sam!" Buffy called out. A second later Sam orbed in. "Would you take Elizabeth to Leo for us. Piper and I need to talk to mom."
"About?" Grams asked as Sam took Elizabeth from her and orbed out.
"I think you know what about, Mom. Leo seems to think that you don't want to be around Wyatt for some reason. And Piper and I are beginning to wonder that ourselves." Buffy said.
Grams sighed, "Oh, this is all my fault. Maybe if I or ,you Patty, had lived longer, been around longer, maybe things would've worked out the way they were supposed to."
"What are you talking about?" Piper asked.
"Wyatt," Grams said.
"Oh, you mean because he's not a girl?" Buffy asked.
Grams nodded, "Patty, Piper, you both know as well as I do that the Warren line is supposed to be led by women. Not men."
"Who says?" Piper and Buffy asked.
"Tradition says. Destiny says. Tell me Piper that you never expected to have a boy, just a girl. Just like you foresaw." Grams said.
"Well, of course, but so what?" Piper said.
"So what if something went wrong? Terribly wrong. Where you were only supposed to have a daughter." Grams said.
"Mom." Buffy warned.
"Piper, you saw it yourself when you went to the future." Grams said.
Piper nodded, "That was also the future where Prue was still alive and witches were burned at the stake. Where Mom, Aunt Dawn and Paige were not a part of this family either. Things change."
"Not this. Oh, it's just that I'm worried about the family, you know. We don't know what to expect." Grams said.
"We know, and that's precisely why we shouldn't treat him any differently because he's a boy." Buffy said. "That's why we're going to do the ceremony. At the very least he deserves that."
Grams sighed, "I'm sorry, Piper, Patty. I can't."
"You are crazy! This isn't about him or our legacy. This is about you." Piper said.
Grams sighed, "Piper, you don't understand."
Piper nodded, "That you don't want to perform a blessing on my son? You are damn right I do not understand."
"You see him as an innocent little boy. But he won't be like that, not for long." Grams said.
"So you can't even hold him because some day, some very far away day he will become a man?" Piper said.
Grams nodded, "Men cannot be trusted with magic. They can't handle it, they're weak and evil will eventually win out."
"That is silly! Look at Leo." Piper said.
"And Sam," Buffy said as Grams looked at her quizzically. "We're dating, again."
Grams nodded, "Well, Leo and Sam, I mean, their angels, you can't count them."
Phoebe walked down the stairs. "Hey, what's going on here?"
"Your grandmother hates her great grandson, that's what's going on." Piper said.
Grams frowned, "That is not true."
"Oh, I'm sorry, you just hate men, is that correct?" Piper asked.
Grams shook her head, "No, I don't trust men. There's a difference. And there is a reason that they don't last long in this family because they're always trying to take advantage of what we have. Isn't that right, Patty?"
"Oh you want to go there?" Buffy said. "You were the one who kept Victor out of Prue, Piper and Phoebe's lives all because he disagreed with you about how he wanted to raise his daughters. And as far as the divorce is concerned that is my fault."
"So we're supposed to give up on finding love just because we might get hurt?" Phoebe said.
"Oh, no, you will get hurt. That's part of our legacy too, unfortunately." Grams said.
"You know what? Forget it. You couldn't even bless my son or my daughter with any kind of goodness because you are too consumed by your bitterness." Piper said.
Grams sighed, "Piper."
Piper turned to Buffy. "Mom, can you do it?"
Buffy nodded. "I can perform the wiccaning, yes."
"Good," Piper said as she looked back at Grams. "Mom will do it."
"Piper." Grams said as a demon, Skreek, appeared on the stairs.
Skreek threw a beam of light at Piper, sending her across the room. He threw a beam of light at Phoebe and Buffy and they dove over the couch.
"Leave them alone!" Grams said.
Suddenly, Grams was pulled backwards in a blur and into the Necromancer's arms. "Surprise," he said as Skreek walked down the stairs.
"Piper!" Phoebe shouted.
Piper blew up Skreek as the Necromancer disappeared with Grams.

Moments later Dawn and Phoebe held the twins as they discussed what had happened.
"Well, let's face it. Grams would not be in this position if she hadn't sent us after the guy in the first place." Piper said.
"Not helpful. We have to summon her back here fast." Phoebe said.
Buffy shook her head, "We can't. The necromancer will follow and if you don't have a way to stop him."
"How did he get a clean shot at her anyway? Weren't you guys with her?" Paige said.
Piper sighed, "Uh, we were fighting with her."
"Fighting? About what?" Paige asked.
"Later, sweetie." Buffy said.
Dawn nodded, "Yeah, let's just focus on the vanquishing and saving, Mom."
Buffy looked to Dawn and whispered. "Did you know you just called her Mom?"
"Yeah, but I don't know how to. I mean, it's not like we can even vanquish him, he's a ghost." Phoebe said.
Dawn looked to Buffy and thought about it. Grams being snatched had reminded her of losing Joyce. And while Grams was not biologically her mother she had come in the space of a few hours to love her anyways. She nodded and whispered. "Well through a technicality she is, right?"
"Well, ghosts can still feel pain. Maybe I can just orb his testicles somewhere." Paige said.
"Paige Elizabeth Matthews!" Buffy said. She then looked to Dawn and smiled as she whispered. "Guess so. Are you okay with that?"
"What?" Paige asked.
Dawn simply smiled and nodded.
"Paige, there will be no talk of testicle orbing in front of the children, especially Wyatt." Piper said.
Leo nodded, "And not around his daddy either."
"Or your father," Sam agreed.
"Oh, criminy, I'm just trying to help." Paige said as Leo took Wyatt. He looked at Sam who took Elizabeth and both men left the room with the twins.
Phoebe moved closer to the book which was sitting on the coffee table. "Okay, there's got to be a weakness in here somewhere. I mean, he must have a weakness, right?"
"Well, do mint jelly and Clark Gable movies count? She wrote it." Piper said.
"Oh my god. That's why she's so obsessed with him. Grams was the Necromancer's lover." Phoebe said.
Buffy and Piper gasped.
"That's disgusting." Paige said.
"Are you sure, Phoebe?" Buffy said.
"Look at what she wrote. Mom," Phoebe answered as Buffy moved next to her and looked at the entry on the Necroamancer. "Oh my god, you are right. Which means she cheated on dad. Since she sent him back to the spirit realm for my wiccaning. And dad died twelve years after that."
"Okay, so now she's dead." Piper said as a smile graced her lips.
"You sound so happy about that." Paige said.
"No, that's not what she means. The ghost vanquishing spell." Phoebe said sa she flipped through the book.
Buffy looked at the page Phoebe had flipped to and read it."Of course, Phoebe. You have to be dead to use it. And since Mom is a ghost…"
Phoebe nodded, "It's worth a shot."

Later in the attic Piper lit five candles that were sitting on the floor in a circle. "Alright, as soon as we summon her, we've got to get her straight to the book because the Necromancer's going to be right behind her."
"All over it," Buffy said.
"Okay, let's do this." Piper said as the doorbell rang. Phoebe walked over to the window and looked down at the front door. "Who is it?"
"It's Jason." Phoebe said.
"Guys really do have bad timing, don't they?" Paige said.
Phoebe nodded, "Yeah, I kind of owe him an answer."
"Answer to what?" Buffy asked.
"He asked me to go back to Hong Kong with him. To live." Phoebe said as the doorbell rang again. "I'll be right back." She headed downstairs.
Piper and Paige move over to the window and look out at the front door. Buffy shook her head as Dawn laughed, "Girls."
Piper and Paige watch as Jason leaves a moment later.
"Go on, go on." Piper said as they quickly raced to the center of the room as Phoebe rejoined them.
"Well?" Paige asked.
"How do you guys feel about intercontinental orbing?" Phoebe asked.
"We'll, talk about that later." Piper handed Phoebe and Buffy a piece of paper. "Read."
"Bossy aren't you, sweetie." Buffy said as Dawn moved beside her.
"Now is not the time, Mom." Piper said.
"Here these words, here my cry, spirit from the other side, come to me, I summon thee, cross now the great divide." Buffy, Dawn and Phoebe chanted as Grams appeared in a swirl of bright lights.
"Welcome back, Grams." Paige said.
"Girls." Grams said. "Patty, Dawn."
"No time for apologies. Come on, come on, this way, this way, this way." Piper said as Buffy took Grams over to the book.
"This is the spell to vanquish a ghost. But only a ghost can read it and that's you." Buffy said.
Grams shook her head, "You shouldn't have done this."
"Oh, come on, Grams, we're not that mad." Piper said.
"You will be." Grams said.
"Mom, he's going to be here any second." Buffy said.
"I know, I know. It's just that I don't think that..." Grams said as she gasped from a painful ringing in her ears.
"Are you alright?" Dawn asked.
Grams nodded, "Yes. I never meant to hurt you, Elizabeth or Wyatt, Piper. Or you and Dawn, Patty."
"Right, okay, look, we kind of need to focus on the demon at hand here, okay?" Piper said as a gust of wind blew through the attic.
"Whoa. Incoming!" Phoebe said as the Necromancer appeared in a puff of smoke.
"Now, Mom!" Buffy said.
Piper nodded, "Grams, read the spell."
"Don't bother. She's with me now." Necromancer said as he moved closer to Grams. "It's time, dear."
"Piper, blow him up or something." Paige said.
"A ghost? You want me to blow up the ghost? He's already dead." Piper said.
"I call forth from space and time, matriarchs from the Halliwell line..." Grams said.
"Paige, the truth spell. Use it on Mom." Dawn said.
"Mothers, daughters, sisters, friends..." Grams said.
"For those who want the truth revealed, open hearts and secrets unsealed..." Paige said.
"Our family's spirit without end..." Grams continued.
Paige smiled, "From now until it's now again, after which the memory ends."
"Gather now in this sacred place..." Grams said as colored lights surround her and she suddenly stopped.
"Penny, finish the spell." Necromancer said.
"Mom, tell him how you really feel about him. Tell him the truth." Buffy said hoping Dawn's idea worked.
Grams smiled, "I love you."
"Any other bright ideas?" Paige asked.
"Mom." Dawn said catching Grams attention and Grams smiled. "Please."
"And now I know that you didn't just use me, that you really did love me too." Grams said looking back at the Necromancer.
Necromancer nodded, "I still do."
"I know. But the truth is that our love isn't nearly as powerful as the love I have for my family." Grams said as she began reading from the book. "Ashes to ashes, spirit to spirit..."
Necromancer frowned, "Penny?"
"Take his soul." Grams continued.
"Penny, what are you doing?" Necromancer asked.
"Banish this evil." Grams finished as the Necromancer was vanquished. "I am so sorry. I never realized how much my anger; my bitterness affected my life, or yours. Or even yours Patty. And I'm most sorry for what I did to my great grandchildren, and you Piper. And both of my daughters… Patty… Dawn. And if ever I wanted a second chance, it would be with the twins, and the three of you." Piper smiled and hugged Grams, followed by Buffy and finally Dawn. "Don't make the same mistake I did. Don't ever give up on love."
0 – 0 – 0 – 0 – 0
Later the attic was lit by candles. Piper walked in carrying Wyatt followed by Leo carrying Elizabeth. Tjeu were followed by Buffy and Dawn. They stood next to Phoebe and Paige.
Grams smiled, "You know, I think Wyatt looks a little like your grandfather. Oh, trust me, that's a good thing. He was a good man."
Phoebe nodded, "Nice to know."
Grams turned and looked at Buffy, "While biologically you are not related to us Patty. I do believe the DNA that gave you your powers and Dawn hers has influenced Dawn physically. Because I have to say she does look a little like my mother."
"Believe me I noticed that also." Buffy said. "Shall we?"
Grams nodded, "I call forth from space and time, matriarchs from the Halliwell line, mothers, daughters, sisters, friends, our family's spirit without end, to gather now in this sacred place, and help us bring this child to grace." Matriarch spirits from different time periods appeared as she turned to the matriarchs. "The next generation has been born into our family, our legacy." She motioned toward the twins in Piper and Leo's arms. "We pledge to be with these children, these beautiful twins always. Apart but never separate, free but never alone. They are one of us and because of that, we bless them with all the goodness that we are. Welcome to the family, Wyatt Matthew Halliwell and Elizabeth Dawn Halliwell." She kissed first Wyatt and then Elizabeth on the cheek. "Blessed be."
"Blessed be," everyone echoed.
Grams motioned to Buffy and Dawn who move over beside her. "My daughter Patty after she died was given a choice. A choice to join us in her eternal rest or to continue the fight against evil by being reincarnated. She chose to continue the fight and was reincarnated. Through a twist of fate helped along by a friend of Patty's and the Elders. She regained her memories and powers. Then through a spell cast by some monks she gained a sister who has Warren blood flowing through her veins just as Patty does. And as a result they are both Halliwells. Regardless if they answer to that name or not." She looked to Buffy and Dawn and smiled. "We pledge to be with this beautiful young woman always. Apart but never separate, free but never alone. She is one of us and because of that, we bless her with all the goodness that we are. Welcome to the family, Dawn Marie Summers … Halliwell." She kissed Dawn on the cheek. "Blessed be."
"Blessed be," everyone echoed.
"Take good care of my great grandchildren." Grams said as Piper and Buffy smiled. "And my newest daughter." She stepped back and stood beside the matriarchs as she and they disappeared.
