Been sitting on this for a minute, was surprised how much I liked it going back.
"I think I misplaced my right hand" Gildarts (Dragonshost)
"Yo...uh...Cana?" The woman in question tilted her head back to stare at her father, already anticipating something stupid from the sheepish grin on his face.
"What is it old man? Get in trouble at the guild? Accidently hit Natsu once too hard?"
"Ah, no, nothing like that. Rather…" He glanced at his left side, which Cana noticed he had covered up, "I think I misplaced my left hand."
Cana's eyes widened as her father pulled back the cloak with his right hand to reveal nothing there, just an old wound of when it was first torn from its socket. "You wouldn't have happened to see it, maybe, daughter?"
Her eyes glanced nervously at the empty space for only a moment before shifting into an annoyed look. "Pops! That was expensive!"
"I know!"
"I'm not helping you get a new one if it's gone for good!"
"I know!"
"How does one even lose a whole separate prosthetic arm after you lose a real one?!"
"I don't know!"
Cana signed at the sorry state her father was in; practically on his hands (hand?) and knees in disarray over the missing limb. Not that it would impede him all that much, truthfully, but it was definitely an inconvenience.
"Fine, I'll look through the house. We were bar hopping last night so maybe you took it off drunk and stored it someplace out of sight."
Gildarts sniffed in the most unbecoming way possible, "Thank you Cana!" Throwing her into a bear-hug, which she thought was only a little suffocating now that he only had one arm to do it with.
In the back of her mind, Cana hoped that she could also convince him to take a nap so that she could go outside and find where she knew the arm really was. Her memory of last night was a little frazzled from the bar-hopping, but she knew one thing for certain.
He would not be so happy to realize his arm had been used as a conch for drinking and probably still reeked of alcohol.
But for now, she appreciated the warmth of his remaining real arm and reassured him that they'd find it eventually...after Cana scrubbed it clean for all it was worth.
