(Pippa's P.O.V.) -About 10'clock pm, on the fourth night of the second week-
I wiggled slightly as I wrapped Adam's purple cape around me, the faint musk comforting me as I felt the chill of the night, hearing faint sounds of snoring, and I blearily opened my eyes as I heard a faint sharp crackle, looking up to see the logs crumbling in the fire. I began to turn over when I saw it, a floating tiny blue being in the distance.
I blinked softly as I heard whispering, and I tilted my head as it moved toward me, a giggle sounding out, making out tiny golden eyes, waving barely shaped arms, and I moved a hand toward it, still tucked in the cape, and gasped quietly as it vanished, leaving faint laughter, and a moment later, another tiny being appeared a tad further away from me, blinking its tiny golden eyes at me with a whisper, faintly sounding like a churring Squirrel Glider which I occasionally saw back home.
I slowly and carefully crawled out of the cape, taking a moment to glance back at Adam who's sleeping quite deeply, and watched my footsteps around the slumbering forms of my friends and a few others as I aimed to follow the tiny being, hearing giggles and whispers as it went disappearing and appearing repeatedly.
The tiny beings are like blue torches lighting the way as I walked on, hearing whispers here and there, and after perhaps 15 minutes, I came upon some sort of a temple, looking like centuries old. I saw some sort of mural on the stone floor, but it was hard to decipher with the moss, vines, and glanced around at the pillars which is incredibly standing under a complete roof, and there among a series of lighting that resembled crystals, thanks to the moon through a roof skylight, is a sorts of ancient scripture.
I couldn't make it out from a distance, so I got closer, laying a hand, feeling the stone etchings when I felt a sharp corner and cut my finger. I yelped softly as I held it close, seeing the blood on the corner of the border when suddenly, the scripture glowed red for a moment, somehow moving letters and pictures around until it stopped, resembling a language I immediately recognized back home.
Se chemen ki mennen nan destine ak so. Tout moun ki we sa a dwe reyalize vre pwop tet yo isit la. Se pou zetwal yo gide ou.
I carefully read it out loud as it has been a while since I did this, "This is the path to destiny and fate. All who see this must realize their true self here. May the stars guide you.". When I said it to the end, I felt the temple shake under my feet slightly, and then the wall with the writing opened up to reveal a tunnel, and I widened my eyes, panting in shock and amazement.
I muttered, "Definitely magic.". I then felt a tiny push at my shoulder, and looked over to see the tiny being, smiling brightly. I chuckled softly, "You wanted me to come here, eh?". The tiny being nodded with a giggle, and waved before vanishing as I checked that my kukri's still on my hip, all secured in its scabbard.
I glanced back at the dark tunnel before me, and I exhaled softly, "Right then.", walking forward and reaching out to feel the walls as to measure the width and height, making sure I am able to walk through, and I nodded, "Here I go.", stepping into the tunnel while wishing for a flashlight.
After a couple of moments, I felt air whoosh behind me, hearing thuds, and I looked back, realizing that the wall closed behind me, and I panted out loud as the darkness was full on for a moment before all of a sudden, a light appeared, and more followed.
I looked up, and I gaped softly in awe as I saw glowing mushrooms on the high angles of the tunnel walls, and realized that those mushrooms are luminescent. I breathed quietly, "Incredible.", and I walked on, watching out for anything else. It felt like 10 minutes until the tunnel stopped, opening out, and I stepped out into a platform, seeing that a cliff is nearby, and saw that a spot of moonlight is lighting up the place.
I saw remains of a canoe, a net, a spear, and then I heard some sort of hissing over the cliff, and carefully, I made my way close to the edge, and peered over to see ginormous snakes slithering and hissing. I shivered furiously as I spat out loud, "Are you fucking serious?!".
The snakes are as big as a baby elephant, and freaking longer than the length of a crocodile, and snakes are one of my greatest fears since I had a close encounter with a normal-sized yet venomous common copperhead when I was young.
I exhaled hard as I turned around to see that the tunnel had disappeared, and I huffed lightly as I looked back at the cliff floor of snakes, and winced lightly, looking around when my eye landed upon a single tower of rock in the middle of the cliff drop, and there in the distance, I saw the other side, and a platform with a barely seen wall of something.
"Great, I have to make my way across without falling and getting bitten by those darn snakes!", I groaned lightly before exhaling deeply as I glanced at the remains of ancient material, and I nodded to myself, "Let's get to work.".
Probably for 30 minutes, I worked upon making a sorts of ladder from the canoe, net, with the use of the spearhead, and checking the distance from the cliff to the rock tower, I made modifications here and there before taking the risk to lay the ladder properly and steady.
I slowly, steadily, carefully make my way across the ladder while struggling to look forward with the loud hissing noises from the snakes reaching my ears, and to my relief, I made it center and on target, and I tugged the ladder toward me as I carefully watched the edge, and brought it up as I got up, and turned around, and once again, laid the ladder across the second part of the cliff between the tower and the other side.
I went a tad faster, but still careful as I wanted to get out of there, and I tugged and pulled the ladder into the other side, not wanting the ladder to fall from a quake and become sort of a tree for the snakes to climb, and I clapped myself on the shoulder, commenting out loud, "Pretty scary, but it sure gets your blood rushing around.".
I made my way to the platform, finally taking a proper look at the wall, and saw that it was a sort of a puzzle due to its wacky shapes, and it was mixed around. I carefully counted 100 pieces, and to my surprise, they were rock-made. Seeing a indented bordered rectangle, I realized that the puzzle is meant to sit there, and so I took a deep breath before reaching for a border piece, grunting slightly as it felt magnetized before I pulled it out, and put it into the corner, feeling a pull from the piece as I put on.
I exhaled softly, "Magnetized rock magic...At least it's better than that Jumanji game from the movie.", and I focused on figuring and placing while thinking of the right place to put the pieces. It felt like 20 minutes when I got the last piece, and I put it into the last missing place of the puzzle, and taking a step back, I saw that the puzzle contained a silhouette of a dragon head breathing fire.
All of a sudden, the silhouette glowed red, and the flames became colored, and the dragon head moved, the flames moving higher as then invisible writing appeared out of nowhere, looking like gold. The dragon head then stopped breathing, and went still. Blinking in shock as I unconsciously grasped my kukri out of instinct, "Didn't see that one coming.".
I stepped closer to read the writing, and saw that it's French. I blinked softly as Adam and Lumiere has been teaching me the last few weeks, and I slowly, carefully worked it out.
Tous ceux qui ont réussi le premier test doivent avancer car il n'y a pas de retour en arrière. Ayez confiance en vous, apprenez qui vous êtes.
I spoke out loud as I understand it now, "All who passed the first test, must go forward as there's no turning back. Trust in yourself, learn who you are.". Then the wall with the dragon and writing separated and pulled back, revealing a mirror, shimmering slightly like the Looking Mirror or the Erised Mirror.
I looked back, shocked to see that the cliff, the tower, the far side has disappeared, and I exhaled, "Boy, I hope everybody ain't mad that I have been gone for hours now.", turning around to face the mirror, remembering the words that bought this forward, and taking a deep breath as I nodded to myself, walking forward, putting my hand up first.
I blinked as I felt no pain, only a cool stream of calm energy, almost like how the waves lap at my feet back home, and I then stepped forward, feeling the energy wash over me, seeing nothing yet I hear faint sounds of children playing, and then a flash of light came at me, and I instinctively close my eyes for a moment before opening my eyes, and I barely felt my jaw drop as I stared at everything before me.
(Adam's P.O.V.) -20 minutes after Pippa's departure from the camp-
I groaned lightly as I felt something prodding me, and I grunted as I curled up tighter, figuring that Pippa's hand or foot strayed out under the cape before I snapped up awake from a splash of water, growling lightly, "I told you that I don't do pranks!", presumably thinking that it was Jason, glaring murderously when I realized that it was Emma.
Emma frowned lightly, "Pippa's gone.", and I blinked in confusion as I looked down and over to the spot where Pippa's sleeping, and to my horror, the cape was flat out on the ground, no obvious lump under it.
I spoke worriedly, "Where is she?", and Emma shook her head, "I don't know where she went. Gus was in the mood for a late-night snack, and saw that Pippa was gone, woke up Jaq, informing him, and waking up Prince Charles, and then he woke us up. You can smell her out, right?", referring to the rest of the gang behind her, looking anxious and worried.
I nodded as I realized that my nose would help out greatly, thanks to being Beast, and I sniffed the cape, recognizing her familiar scent of flowers, parchment, and something else that smells salty, but not quite. I then followed it, walking on fours, glad for the incredible vision that my Beast form gave me, hearing footsteps behind me with Lumiere in Emma's hands as I heard his voice momentarily.
I quickly followed Pippa's scent, recognizing her faint footmarks in the ground, seeing subtle signs of grass being trampled, and after seemingly 15 minutes, I saw a ancient temple in the near distance, and I walked on as I smelled that Pippa walked to the temple when something stopped me, causing me to fall into my backside.
"Adam, are you alright?!", asked Zuri concernedly, and I grunted lightly as I rubbed my head, "I am fine, Zuri. Something stopped me from walking further on.", looking up to see Zuri and the others standing around me, and Emma looked intrigued, tried to walk past me when she was stopped, her hand flaying out for balance, and landing on a transparent wall of a dome as I looked, sparkling red all over.
Emma exhaled slowly as she pulled her hand back, her eyes looking like they're far away for a moment before speaking, "Pippa's not in danger. She's doing tests of some sort. I don't know why or what, but apparently, this is a magical temple, allowing her in while keeping us out so we couldn't interrupt her.".
I snarled softly, "Is this the Enchantress's doing?! Pippa has never done anything wrong like me!". Emma shook her head lightly, "No, this is more powerful than the Enchantress. Something good. Looks like we must wait for Pippa to return back to us.".
I exhaled heavily, looking at the temple hidden behind the transparent red dome, and I growled lightly, "She can pass those tests, I know it.", and Emma patted my shoulder gently, "Don't worry, Adam, she will. After all, it's Pippa.", smiling warmly, and I nodded, knowing how Pippa is, yet I can't help praying for her to be safe.
