-3 days later; in the town of Cracow-
(Jasmine's P.O.V.)
I smiled softly as I saw Cindy cradling little Claire as the baby princess looked everywhere she could, and I chuckled lightly as I saw Charles buy a little hand-sewed horse, waving it in front of Claire who blinked in curiosity, still too young to hold the horse yet.
"Beautiful day, isn't it, ma'am?", spoke Logan's voice nearby, and I looked over, grinning slightly, "Did you forget that you can call me Jasmine?". Logan smiled sheepishly as he came to sit next to me on the bench.
"I apologize, Jasmine. Force of habit. So, since we aren't at the brink of surviving barely in the cold mountains anymore, we seem to have a lot more time to talk...if you wouldn't mind?", Logan asked politely, his light brown eyes glimmering of wonder.
Since I escaped that damned fortress with Logan and his friends' help, there was barely a minute of interaction between myself and him as he had been in conversation with his friends upon strategy, rationing food and water, and other things. The only few times was of serving me with bowls of stew, politely waking me up when it's time to eat, and giving me one of his extra jackets, and a pair of boots that I exchanged with my pathetic shoes, knowing that winter is harsh, keeping my beloved harem puffy pants, and the medium-sleeved shirt I took to wear upon my newfound freedom of Jafar.
Sure, he is bigger than Aladdin in frame somewhat, being more muscular, but his personality, from the times I've observed him, is totally different, and his pale tan skin takes after the color of baklava, and of course, his short black hair is scruffy, but more like a bird's nest in a way...
I smiled warmly, "No, I don't mind. Say, do you know a quieter spot than here? Don't get me wrong, Cracow is nice and all, but well...". Logan nodded, "Say no more, Jasmine. I know the perfect place, and don't worry, it's safe. I and my friends has been patrolling here and there.", getting up, and smiling softly as he handed out a hand, the same way he did back there after he clobbered Gaston.
I may not have known him very long, but I feel like I can trust him as I grabbed his hand, and got off the bench, and let go as soon as Logan noticed, started walking on with a gesture of his chin. I followed him, and we got to the edge of Cracow, gratefully on the other side, a couple of miles away from the passage road of the mountains, and Logan smiled, gestured with a hand, "There, under that tree. Private yet we have a view of town.", pointing to a large tree that's standing upon a slightly high hill.
I blinked softly, "That's a oak, right? I have never been over the mountains this north...". Logan chuckled softly, "You haven't traveled much, huh?", walking up the hill, encouraging me to follow him, and grateful to see a clear spot, we sat down, and sure enough, I can see Cracow just fine.
I sighed lightly, "I have read books, and I wished to travel, but my father couldn't budge...Then I had the opportunity to do so, but only for a night upon a magic carpet...". Logan widened his eyes in amazement, "You rode a magic carpet?!".
I laughed softly, "I indeed did. It was wonderful and magical...That was the only time I ever liked, maybe loved a man...". Logan blinked softly, "Something tells me that this is only part of your story...".
I looked at him, seeing only curiosity and a hint of empathy, and I nodded lightly, "Perhaps about southwest of that fortress, miles and miles off, I used to live in a desert...". Logan nodded with a smirk, "That explains your nightly rant to Cinderella. You hate the northern winter, huh?".
I blushed brightly, "Oh, shush, you.", glaring at him softly, and Logan smiled, "Keep going. I will keep quiet.". I shook my head at his impish comment with a slight roll of my eyes, smirking at him before I continued on to explain my story.
"The desert is in the region of Andalasia, and there, my home used to be in the kingdom of Agrabah...", I trailed off softly, and Logan looked concerned for a moment, and looked like he wanted to comfort me as I can see the movements of his hands before he seemed to realize that I might not be happy about it.
I smiled softly, reassuring him that I am fine, and I then spoke on, the memories slowly coming back, "I was the princess of the Sultan, my father. Growing up without a mother who had died when I was too young to remember her much, I was getting more rebellious every day, having one friend in Rajah, my beloved pet tiger, yet growing more lonely...",
"When my sixteenth year approached, my father had the guts to send invitations to every suitor without my permission! Of course, the law of the Sultan was absolute, angering me much, and that spurred me to make the best yet slightly terrifying decision I'd ever made in my whole life! I ran away, wanting freedom as living in that palace was pure boredom...",
"Having no experience in touring the city, I was nearly in danger just for giving a apple to a little child, but then he came in, saving me...I didn't know his name then, but later on, I knew of his name...Anyway, he showed me around, talked in his humble home, and admittedly, I came close to kissing him for the first time, but the guards interrupted, thinking that he kidnapped me from the palace, thanks to Jafar's manipulations!".
Logan looked shell-shocked, amazed, and a tad confused, making me realize that I hadn't explained about Jafar, and I grimaced lightly, "Jafar was my father's vizier. He was twice my age, creeping me out when he advanced quite a few times towards me...I complained to my father, of course, but he was controlled by that damn cobra staff...",
I sighed heavily, "You see, he was a sorcerer...Now...I didn't get all the facts, but he wanted to find the Cave of Wonders where the Magic Carpet, and a soon-to be beloved friend came from...He manipulated Aladdin, the boy I met, luring him into the Cave of Wonders. He and his pet monkey, Abu, met the Magic Carpet and Genie.".
Logan widened his eyes, whispered-shouted, "A real-life genie?!". I nodded softly, "He used to be blue, powerful, larger than life...Genie was Aladdin's best friend...Anyhow, Aladdin used his first two wishes to be a prince, making him Prince Ali, and to save his own life, respectfully. On the latter, Jafar was the one who tried to have Aladdin killed, thrown over a cliff into the ocean, if I remember Genie's story right.",
"But Jafar saw the lamp, and had his co-criminal partner/pet, Iago to steal it, and then that was the beginning of everything that changed for me...Aladdin with Abu was sent elsewhere very far away, with Jafar killing off Magic Carpet that he couldn't save Aladdin and Abu, bring them back which I believe Jafar had suspected for a moment..",
"He made his first two wishes, being the Sultan of Agrabah, taking my father's title away, and then becoming the greatest sorcerer of the world which was far worse...He made Genie move the palace to the cliffs up high above Agrabah, and then, for years I couldn't count properly,...I was made a personal servant to him...", I trailed off, closing my eyes at those wasted years of being Jafar's servant, forced to see Agrabah enforced to pay taxes, exchanging invaluable objects just for keeping their lives, surviving day by day...
I felt a hand touch my hand, and I opened my eyes to see Logan a tad closer, looking upset and perhaps a little angry, "That's not right! Please tell me that he'd been taken care of.", growling slightly. I exhaled deeply, "Gratefully, I was in alliance with some of the guards, being loyal to me and my father, hating Jafar much as I did, and I was forced to bring them in to kill Jafar after...Rajah and my father's demise at his hands...I refused to be his queen for the millionth time, and I suppose he went mad...",
"As he was dying, he had remnants of his power to pull the lamp to his side, and there, he made his last wish. He wished that Agrabah is destroyed forever, never able to be rebuilt again...He lost grip of it upon his last breath, and I grabbed it before it fell, hearing Genie that I am his master now, hope in his voice...",
"I wished for all the people of Agrabah to be healed/saved first, and secondly, I wished to find a place of shelter and water which Genie took all of us to Rowan, the next door kingdom a few days away, and thirdly, I decided to honor Aladdin, figuring that he's dead for he never appeared to save me all those years, and wished that Genie would be free with the condition that he would be human, making the lamp desolate.".
Logan exhaled slowly, "Wow...And you left?". I sighed heavily, "What else was I supposed to do? I failed Agrabah despite saving them...I couldn't make them forget...So, I figured to leave, thinking that it's the best way to do, and I told Genie who then adopted the name of Mariner Williams, to look after them for me...".
"After about two weeks, I was then taken by those goblins, and brought to that damn fortress...Most of us were there for a month before Cinderella came in...", I then finished slowly with a sigh. Logan whistled lowly, "Shit...Did Jafar or the goblins...?".
I shook my head, "Jafar may have been evil, and verbally abusive, but he had a silver of honor at least, perhaps my father as a reason...The goblins didn't have a chance as I gave them hell, being shorter than me, but Gaston, he was the worst one...but he didn't take me...if you know what I mean...".
Logan nodded, looking relieved, and I realized that he was true of his word. He's truly a man of honor, respecting my space and such. I then shook my head softly, smiling as I then looked at him, "So, what's your story?".
Logan shrugged lightly, "You'd never believe me, anyway.". I smirked, "Come on, we witnessed magic, Pippa as a dragon, Maleficent's fortress crumbling down to rubble, your incredible weapons to shoot and kill, and much more. I told my story about me as a ex-princess, a sorcerer, a genie, and more. So, try me, Logan!".
Logan laughed softly, "Okay, okay, you're proving those points right, Jasmine. I and my friends, we aren't of this world originally...". I blinked softly, "So, you came from another realm across the ocean, then?". Logan shook his head, "It was more of a portal...Fairy magic...We came from another world, stars and stars away through the skies up there...", looking up with a nostalgic smile.
I stared at him, and looked up to the sky, and looked back at him, somehow believing him from the look of his eyes, and I breathed softly, "Was it different over there?". Logan smiled, "Very much, yes. There's so many things you couldn't even imagine...".
I tilted my head, raising an eyebrow, "Like what?". Logan pursued his lips thoughtfully, "There are more houses than castles, and there's seven oceans, seven continents, and the people are crowding many places that the count there can be up to a billion, seven times over a thousand people if that.".
I widen my eyes in shock at that comment, and breathed lightly, "What about safe water, food, transportation?". Logan smiled softly, "There's ways to clean the water of bad things, huge carts with wheels to transport pounds and pounds of food, and so much farmland to plant many kinds of food.".
I exhaled slowly in amazement, "Truly?". Logan nodded, "Yeah, it was a pretty nice place most of the time...". I nodded lightly, "You had war?". Logan sighed softly, "Mostly over territory and culture differences, which was stupid in the first place...We didn't have goblins or orcs, but humans, well, let's say many are worse than Gaston...".
I frowned lightly, "But having so much people there like you've said, there must have been the silver lining as well!", and Logan chuckled bitter sweetly, "There's the rare case that a soldier like I and my brother, and our friends have decided to change lives for the better after the wars back home...Others went insane.".
I blinked in slight confusion, "Insane?". Logan blinked, "Gone mad if you will.". I then gave a nod, understanding now, having said the same thing about Jafar. I then tilted my head curiously, "When did you get here?".
Logan grinned softly, "That's the thing. On the day we left through the fairy portal, it was November, Friday the 12th, and the year...2010.". I gasped, gaping at him, blinking in astonishment before I shakily breathed, "You're from the future of your world?".
Logan nodded lightly, "We called it the 21st century...The art of healing, transportation, and yes, even war, has leaped in bounds of advancement...But in this world, I feel like I am free here, the air is so fresh and clean, and there's...something I haven't felt in a long time...".
I looked at him softly, "And that is?". Logan smiled warmly, "Hope.". I blinked softly before I began to smile at him, "I believe you, Logan...And by the way, it's January 10th, Monday...in the new year of the dragon, 9th century, if I remember right.".
Logan widened his eyes, "We're in the 800s?". I shook my head, "Add one to the 8 there, and you have it, 900.". Logan exhaled softly, "January 10th, 900.". I nodded with a smile, "Yep.", and Logan laughed heartily.
I sometimes heard his laugh from a distance when he shared a joke with his brother or friends, but this close, it's deep like a drum, a bass drum if I remember right, having read a book about music in other regions. Logan chuckled, "I think we'll get along just fine, Jazz.".
I blinked softly with a smirk, "Jazz?". Logan smiled sheepishly, "I apologize. I normally give a nickname to people I am fond of, and I didn't mean to do it without your permission.". I giggled softly, "No, no, Logan, I actually like it very much. It's the first time I ever had a nickname in place of my full name.".
Logan looked at me with a soft smile, "Really?". I nodded warmly, "Yes. And I know I have thanked you before, but that was in the midst of escaping that prison. Thank you for everything you did for me, Logan, including my life. If it wasn't for you, I'd be dying from Gaston's abuse.".
Logan touched my shoulder gently, noticing my slight flinch upon the action, yet he focused on me, "Jasmine, that's what friends are for, and I have been raised on honor, loyalty, and family. I swear that I'd be around when you need me, and that's a promise I can keep.".
I smiled softly, "Thank you, Logan, but what about your life back there?". Logan shook his head, "I have my brother and friends here. My old life was very dull, and besides, our father passed away a few years ago.".
I nodded lightly, seeing that he intends to stay here in my world forever, and for some reason, I feel happy, more happier than I could remember, and Logan sent me a warm smile before looking ahead to gaze at the town, encouraging me to join in to look at the humble view.
Even with the slight chill of the wind, it sure is nice to have a quiet moment, and company makes it even better. It felt like a while until Logan looked at me, "Shall we grab some lunch? I believe I saw a bakery.". I smiled softly, "That sounds wonderful, and unless if I heard wrong, are you really going to play some music tonight?".
Logan grinned lightly, "Yep, and it will be happening in the courtyard...Emma's usually the singer, but she's considering to give others a shot at it.". I shyly glance at him, "Can I have a try? It has been so long...".
Logan nodded with a smile, "Sure thing, Jazz. I bet you will be great at it!". I chuckled softly, "Don't blame me if I get nervous...". Logan smirked, "You nervous? Nonsense! You were a princess one time, you must have some excellent pipes!".
I blinked softly, "Pipes?". Logan blushed slightly, "Sorry, I can't help remembering a few phrases here and there from the old place.. What I mean is that you must have a incredible singing voice.".
I blushed brightly as I heard his compliment, "Well...my old teachers used to say that I sing beautifully...that Mother would have been proud of me as she used to sing too...". Logan nodded in understanding, "There you go. And tell you what, your ma would be happy if you sing one of her songs. She's watching from the stars, Jazz, and she will be your audience if you focus about it, and your dad too. I bet he'd be excited to watch his little princess singing out loud.".
I glanced upon the ground, thinking on his words momentarily before looking back at him with a smile, "Yes, you're right.", and then I got up, dusting off the dirt, grinning softly, "What are we waiting for, then? I want to check out the bakery and other places in town.".
Logan grinned softly as he joined me, getting up from his spot, "As you wish, milady. Lead the way as I am absolutely hungry as a horse!", and I laughed softly, hearing his hearty laughter a second later as we walked on, heading back to town.
For once in a long time, I actually felt hope, a old yet familiar emotion I've missed, and it's all thanks to Logan, my newest dear friend, and I hope this war will get over soon, especially with Pippa's dragon aid.
