Chapter Five

The next day Davis happens to be later than Serena to the computer lab and Serena hears Yolei complaining about Davis, saying how he was acting like the leader when he wasn't and stuff like that. Serena's blue eyes narrow and she opens the door slowly. TK takes one look at her and immediately backs away from Yolei, he had only seen her that way once, and that had been when bullies were picking on him a year ago. Davis had been right, Yolei needed to learn when to keep her mouth shut, or at least filter what she said. " Inoue-san, we need to have a chat about your apparent lack of decorum. "

Her voice was quiet but everyone in the computer lab froze. Matt and Mr. Ishida would have hightailed it, Serena was one of those cold fury people. Yolei gulps as a look that could freeze Meramon is directed at her, " Every single one of Davis' plans have been solid, didn't Matt's plan get you all captured when an aerial assault would have been the way to go, I had to save all your asses, remember. "

Kari, Cody, and their digimon also back away from Yolei, no one wanted to be in the crossfire. " That doesn't make Davis the leader! " Yolei snaps, getting angry.

" No, but Tai named him the leader. From the looks of things Serena is his second in command. " TK states quietly, really not wanting to set his coldly furious sister off.

" Big deal, Davis is not the boss of me, if anything I should be leader because I'm smarter. " Yolei says.

Serena scoffs at this, " Yeah, fucking right, Inoue-san, Davis is not all he appears. Forgive me for the language, Cody. Never judge a book by its cover you idiot. "

Davis walks in and goes to check on Tsunomon, Koromon, Viximon, and Demiveemon. He had warned Yolei, now she was going to pay for it. Before the confrontation can continue a new voice intercedes, " Hello, there. "

" Mimi, what are you doing here? " TK asks, glad for the distraction.

" I came for my cousin's wedding and just couldn't resist checking out the old place. " Mimi Tachikawa answers. TK quickly runs through the introductions and Mimi smiles as she looks at Serena, she had seen Serena tearing into the new girl and had spoken when she had for a reason.

" It's been awhile, Serena, I remember you from dance class. " Mimi says.

Serena refuses to look away from Yolei even as she answers Mimi, she would not back down, " Maybe you can knock some sense into this little girl, Mimi. She seriously needs to learn some, forgive me again, Cody, fucking tact. "

Mimi winces, Serena didn't get angry often, but when she did she would not back down. Yolei flinches and looks away finally and Serena goes over to her leader where she gets nuzzled by Viximon and Demiveemon. Mimi was the only female that Serena trusted, hell Serena emailed her all the time. They stayed in constant contact as Serena needed a female influence in her life. " What are Tsunomon and Koromon doing here? " Mimi asks.

" Well, digimon have a tendency to attack this world so other than Tentomon the other partner digimon are coming here just in case an attack happens here while we're in Digiworld. " Davis explains.

Yolei couldn't fault the logic in that, Digimon did attack in their world, Diaboromon had been on the internet and she had seen that, " I was one of the kids held at Big Sight by Myotismon. "

" I was on the plane that crashed down in the ocean but was landed safely by Kabuterimon and Garudamon. " Cody admits.

" I have a crest and tag but I don't know where I intersect with Digiworld, I don't remember anything before waking up in the hospital after Matt found me. " Serena says.

" I watched the battle with Diaboromon. " Yolei says.

The kids were actually going on a picnic in a spire free area though Serena wasn't too keen on the idea they did need to do some team building. Cody was into Kendo so that would give her something to talk to him about, she preferred to fight without weapons, but she saw the value of them as well. Davis knew he shouldn't expect Serena to bond with the other female members of the team overly much. Serena had no female friends and he knew the answer to why lay in her past somewhere, she'd admitted to having flashes recently, but not enough to satisfy either of them. Though it concerned him that she'd seen herself as Sailor Moon, that meant that whatever happened to her dealt with magic. Sailor Moon had been to all appearances well into her teens.

Davis suspected she'd been de-aged if that was the case, but why had it been necessary? What had happened to make her forget everything about herself except for her name? Serena looks over at Davis once they reach Digiworld and can see the gears turning in his head, what she'd told him had given food for thought. Davis loved puzzles like this, where his mind could turn over several possibilities while either accepting or dismissing them. When Hawkmon goes after his runaway sushi roll with Yolei and Mimi going after him Serena pulls out her D-3, looking at the spire map, " Renamon, go after them, okay. "

Renamon disappears and Davis sighs, " Once again you pick up on my nonverbal cues. Okay, favorite color, everyone answers. "

" Light pink. " Kari answers.

" Yellow. " TK states.

" Purple. " Cody says.

Serena pauses to think about this, " Purple, black, cerulean blue, and silver. What, I can't choose between those four. "

" Blue, white, gold, and purple. " Davis answers his own question. They continue in that vein, just answering general get to know you questions. Davis had to admit that this was actually a good idea, Serena and Kari had found common ground over their love of manga. Davis would never have pegged Kari for being a manga lover.

He and TK had found common ground too, they both loved rollerblading. He, Cody, and Serena could talk for hours about their various martial art disciplines. Serena takes the time to help Davis with his training again as he wanted to be able to keep pace with the Rocket on the soccer field. She had him doing wind sprints at the moment and was keeping track of his times with her D-Terminal. They'd managed to find out, with Viximon's help that Ken's best time was 7.2 seconds so Davis had to beat that mark consistently. So far he had reached 7.3 on a regular basis, though his stamina was improving, his coach had noticed the marked improvement and had thanked her for it.

She stops the stop watch she had on her phone, " Well, Davis, you hit 7.25 seconds, all you need to do is shave that .25 seconds off and you'll be good to go against Ken. "

TK looks at her, " He's doing all this so he can go toe to toe with Ken Ichijouji on the soccer field. "

" Plus, to get in shape for saving Digiworld. I already spar with your sister, TS. " Davis says, getting ready for another wind sprint. If Davis had to put himself through hell then he would, but Serena had made sure he had thoroughly stretched himself out first. Davis knew that he would be pissed if he missed the game due to a pulled muscle or something like that. With Serena's help he knew he would reach his goal and surpass it. Once Davis had reached his goal ten times in a row Yolei, Mimi, Hawkmon, and Palmon show up, " " I had to save their asses as Yolei took too long to have Hawkmon evolve. " Renamon says, showing up behind Serena.

Yolei glares at the yellow vixen and Serena sighs, " You glad I sen Renamon after them now, Dai? "

" Hell yeah. Mimi, you tell us what happened as Yolei will probably edit what she tells us. " Davis says.

Mimi recognizes that tone, it was the tone Tai had used there towards the end of their adventure in Digiworld. Mimi tells Davis everything that had happened while they were gone and Davis rolls his eyes and then levels Yolei with a glare, " This is not a fucking game, Yolei, you can die here, so get your head out of your ass and do your digidestined duty. "

Yolei blanches as she meets his glare, this was not the lovable goof or the amiable soccer jock, this was a battle commander and he was taking her to task. Mimi watches this, while she didn't agree with the way Davis was doing this Yolei did need to shape up. She wished someone had spoken to her like that back then, it would have helped. Davis had planned this trip for team building and it looked like it had worked for the four whom had remained.

" I…I…you're right. I have been treating this like a game. " Yolei admits softly.

Serena goes over to Davis to show a united front with Yolei. Serena was his second in command after all. TK, Kari, and Cody walk up behind Davis, showing Yolei that he had their full support. Later that evening Serena has just finished her katas when Matt walks in, " How was the picnic? "

" Peaceful for four, well, seven of us. Viximon, could you tell Matt what happened for your part of the picnic? "

While Viximon regales Matt with what had happened with Yolei, Hawkmon, Mimi, and Palmon Serena is attacking the brownies Matt had made for her. She was not a very happy twelve year old, even after Davis' little speech to Yolei the girl still would not respect him or at least she hadn't learned to keep her mouth shut yet. Viximon had told Matt everything about the day and Matt winces. Yolei was going to get her ass handed to her by Serena if she didn't shape up soon.
